³⁵ Καὶ (And) περιῆγεν (was going throughout) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τὰς (the) πόλεις (cities) πάσας (all) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) κώμας (villages), διδάσκων (teaching) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) συναγωγαῖς (synagogues) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) κηρύσσων (proclaiming) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τῆς (of the) βασιλείας (kingdom), καὶ (and) θεραπεύων (healing) πᾶσαν (every) νόσον (disease) καὶ (and) πᾶσαν (every) μαλακίαν (sickness).

⁷ πορευόμενοι (Going on) δὲ (also) κηρύσσετε (proclaim), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), ‘Ἤγγικεν (Has drawn near) ἡ (The) βασιλεία (kingdom) τῶν (of the) οὐρανῶν (heavens).’

¹⁹ Πάλιν (Again) ἀμὴν (truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ἐὰν (if) δύο (two) συμφωνήσωσιν (might agree) ἐξ (of) ὑμῶν (you) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) περὶ (concerning) παντὸς (any) πράγματος (matter), οὗ (that) ἐὰν (if) αἰτήσωνται (they shall ask), γενήσεται (it will be done) αὐτοῖς (for them) παρὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Πατρός (Father) μου (of Me) τοῦ (who is) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens).

³ Καθημένου (As was sitting) δὲ (now) αὐτοῦ (He) ἐπὶ (upon) τοῦ (the) ὄρους (Mount) τῶν (-) Ἐλαιῶν (of Olives), προσῆλθον (came to) αὐτῷ (Him) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) κατ’ (in) ἰδίαν (private), λέγοντες (saying), “Εἰπὲ (Tell) ἡμῖν (us), πότε (when) ταῦτα (these things) ἔσται (will be)? καὶ (And) τί (what is) τὸ (the) σημεῖον (sign) τῆς (-) σῆς (of Your) παρουσίας (coming) καὶ (and) συντελείας (of the consummation) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age)?”

⁶ μελλήσετε (You will begin) δὲ (then) ἀκούειν (to hear of) πολέμους (wars) καὶ (and) ἀκοὰς (rumors) πολέμων (of wars). ὁρᾶτε (Behold), μὴ (not) θροεῖσθε (be alarmed); δεῖ (it is necessary) γὰρ (for) γενέσθαι (to take place), ἀλλ’ (but) οὔπω (not yet) ἐστὶν (is) τὸ (the) τέλος (end).

¹⁵ Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Πορευθέντες (Having gone) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόσμον (world) ἅπαντα (all), κηρύξατε (proclaim) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) πάσῃ (to all) τῇ (the) κτίσει (creation). ¹⁶ ὁ (The one) πιστεύσας (having believed) καὶ (and) βαπτισθεὶς (having been baptized) σωθήσεται (will be saved); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) ἀπιστήσας (having disbelieved) κατακριθήσεται (will be condemned).

¹ Ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (then) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) ἡμέραις (days) ἐκείναις (those), ἐξῆλθεν (went out) δόγμα (a decree) παρὰ (from) Καίσαρος (Caesar) Αὐγούστου (Augustus) ἀπογράφεσθαι (to register) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world).

⁵ Καὶ (And) ἀναγαγὼν (having led up) αὐτὸν (Him), ἔδειξεν (he showed) αὐτῷ (Him) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) βασιλείας (kingdoms) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (world) ἐν (in) στιγμῇ (a moment) χρόνου (of time).

⁴⁷ καὶ (and) κηρυχθῆναι (to be proclaimed) ἐπὶ (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) αὐτοῦ (of Him) μετάνοιαν (repentance) εἰς (and) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) ἁμαρτιῶν (of sins) εἰς (to) πάντα (all) τὰ (-) ἔθνη (nations), ἀρξάμενοι (having begun) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰερουσαλήμ (Jerusalem).

²⁸ ἀναστὰς (Having risen up) δὲ (now) εἷς (one) ἐξ (of) αὐτῶν (them) ὀνόματι (named) Ἅγαβος (Agabus), ἐσήμανεν (he signified) διὰ (by) τοῦ (the) Πνεύματος (Spirit that) λιμὸν (a famine) μεγάλην (great) μέλλειν (is about) ἔσεσθαι (to be) ἐφ’ (over) ὅλην (all) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world)— ἥτις (which) ἐγένετο (came to pass) ἐπὶ (under) Κλαυδίου (Claudius).

⁶ μὴ (Not) εὑρόντες (having found) δὲ (however) αὐτοὺς (them), ἔσυρον (they dragged) Ἰάσονα (Jason) καί (and) τινας (certain) ἀδελφοὺς (brothers) ἐπὶ (before) τοὺς (the) πολιτάρχας (city authorities), βοῶντες (crying out) ὅτι (-), “Οἱ (The ones) τὴν (the) οἰκουμένην (world) ἀναστατώσαντες (having upset), οὗτοι (these) καὶ (also) ἐνθάδε (here) πάρεισιν (are come),

²⁵ Καὶ (And) νῦν (now), ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) οἶδα (know) ὅτι (that) οὐκέτι (no more) ὄψεσθε (you will see) τὸ (the) πρόσωπόν (face) μου (of me), ὑμεῖς (you) πάντες (all) ἐν (among) οἷς (whom) διῆλθον (I have gone about) κηρύσσων (proclaiming) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom).

¹⁸ Ἀλλὰ (But) λέγω (I ask), μὴ (no) οὐκ (not) ἤκουσαν (did they hear)? μενοῦνγε (Indeed): “Εἰς (Into) πᾶσαν (all) τὴν (the) γῆν (earth) ἐξῆλθεν (has gone out) ὁ (the) φθόγγος (voice) αὐτῶν (of them); καὶ (and) εἰς (to) τὰ (the) πέρατα (ends) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (world), τὰ (the) ῥήματα (words) αὐτῶν (of them).”

¹⁸ οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) τολμήσω (will I dare) τι (anything) λαλεῖν (to speak of), ὧν (what) οὐ (except) κατειργάσατο (has accomplished) Χριστὸς (Christ) δι’ (through) ἐμοῦ (me), εἰς (unto the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) ἐθνῶν (of the Gentiles), λόγῳ (by word) καὶ (and) ἔργῳ (deed), ¹⁹ ἐν (in the) δυνάμει (power) σημείων (of signs) καὶ (and) τεράτων (wonders), ἐν (in the) δυνάμει (power) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) [θεοῦ] (of God); ὥστε (so as) με (for me) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), καὶ (and) κύκλῳ (around) μέχρι (unto) τοῦ (-) Ἰλλυρικοῦ (Illyricum), πεπληρωκέναι (to have fully proclaimed) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), ²⁰ οὕτως (thus) δὲ (now) φιλοτιμούμενον (being ambitious) εὐαγγελίζεσθαι (to preach the gospel) οὐχ (not) ὅπου (where) ὠνομάσθη (had been named) Χριστός (Christ), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ἐπ’ (upon) ἀλλότριον (another’s) θεμέλιον (foundation) οἰκοδομῶ (I might build). ²¹ ἀλλὰ (Rather), καθὼς (as) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ὄψονται (They will see), «οἷς (to whom) οὐκ (not) ἀνηγγέλη (it was proclaimed) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ» (Him); καὶ (and) οἳ (those that) οὐκ (not) ἀκηκόασιν (have heard) συνήσουσιν (will understand).”

²⁵ Τῷ (To Him) δὲ (now) δυναμένῳ (being able) ὑμᾶς (you) στηρίξαι (to strengthen), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (-) εὐαγγέλιόν (gospel) μου (my) καὶ (and) τὸ (the) κήρυγμα (preaching) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), κατὰ (according to) ἀποκάλυψιν (the revelation) μυστηρίου (of the mystery), χρόνοις (in times) αἰωνίοις (of the ages) σεσιγημένου (having been kept secret), ²⁶ φανερωθέντος (having been made manifest) δὲ (however) νῦν (now), διά (through) τε (also) γραφῶν (Scriptures) προφητικῶν (prophetic), κατ’ (according to) ἐπιταγὴν (the commandment) τοῦ (of the) αἰωνίου (Eternal) Θεοῦ (God), εἰς (unto the) ὑπακοὴν (obedience) πίστεως (of faith) — εἰς (to) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles) γνωρισθέντος (having been made known) —

⁶ τοῦ (the one) παρόντος (being present) εἰς (unto) ὑμᾶς (you), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) παντὶ (all) τῷ (the) κόσμῳ (world) ἐστὶν (it is) καρποφορούμενον (bearing fruit) καὶ (and) αὐξανόμενον (increasing), καθὼς (just as) καὶ (also) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you), ἀφ’ (from) ἧς (the) ἡμέρας (day) ἠκούσατε (you heard) καὶ (and) ἐπέγνωτε (knew) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐν (in) ἀληθείᾳ (truth),

²³ εἴ (if) γε (indeed) ἐπιμένετε (you continue) τῇ (-) πίστει (in the faith), τεθεμελιωμένοι (established) καὶ (and) ἑδραῖοι (firm), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) μετακινούμενοι (being moved away) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἐλπίδος (hope) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) οὗ (that) ἠκούσατε (you have heard), τοῦ (-) κηρυχθέντος (having been proclaimed) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) κτίσει (creation) τῇ (-) ὑπὸ (under) τὸν (-) οὐρανόν (heaven), οὗ (of which) ἐγενόμην (have become) ἐγὼ (I) Παῦλος (Paul) διάκονος (a minister).

¹⁰ Ὅτι (Because) ἐτήρησας (you have kept) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τῆς (of the) ὑπομονῆς (patient endurance) μου (of Me), κἀγώ (I also) σε (you) τηρήσω (will keep) ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour) τοῦ (of the) πειρασμοῦ (trial) τῆς (-) μελλούσης (being about) ἔρχεσθαι (to come) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), πειράσαι (to try) τοὺς (those) κατοικοῦντας (dwelling) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).

⁶ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) ἄλλον (another) ἄγγελον (angel) πετόμενον (flying) ἐν (in) μεσουρανήματι (mid-heaven), ἔχοντα (having) εὐαγγέλιον (the glad tidings) αἰώνιον (everlasting) εὐαγγελίσαι (to preach) ἐπὶ (upon) τοὺς (those) καθημένους (dwelling) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth), καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (upon) πᾶν (every) ἔθνος (nation) καὶ (and) φυλὴν (tribe) καὶ (and) γλῶσσαν (tongue) καὶ (and) λαόν (people),

¹⁴ εἰσὶν (they are) γὰρ (for) πνεύματα (spirits) δαιμονίων (of demons) ποιοῦντα (performing) σημεῖα (signs), ἃ (which) ἐκπορεύεται (go forth) ἐπὶ (to) τοὺς (the) βασιλεῖς (kings) τῆς (of the) οἰκουμένης (inhabited world) ὅλης (whole), συναγαγεῖν (to gather together) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (unto) τὸν (the) πόλεμον (battle) τῆς (of the) ἡμέρας (day) τῆς (-) μεγάλης (great) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) τοῦ (the) Παντοκράτορος (Almighty).
