¹ Οὐδὲν (There is no) ἄρα (therefore) νῦν (now) κατάκριμα (condemnation) τοῖς (to those) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

¹⁷ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) τέκνα (children), καὶ (also) κληρονόμοι (heirs), κληρονόμοι (heirs) μὲν (indeed) Θεοῦ (of God), συνκληρονόμοι (joint-heirs) δὲ (now) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), εἴπερ (if indeed) συμπάσχομεν (we suffer with Him), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) συνδοξασθῶμεν (we may be glorified together). ¹⁸ Λογίζομαι (I reckon) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) οὐκ (not) ἄξια (comparable) τὰ (the) παθήματα (sufferings) τοῦ (of the) νῦν (present) καιροῦ (time are) πρὸς (to) τὴν (the) μέλλουσαν (coming) δόξαν (glory) ἀποκαλυφθῆναι (to be revealed) εἰς (to) ἡμᾶς (us).

²⁸ Οἴδαμεν (We know) δὲ (now) ὅτι (that) τοῖς (to those) ἀγαπῶσιν (loving) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), πάντα (all things) συνεργεῖ (works together) (ὁ (-) θεὸς) (God) εἰς (for) ἀγαθόν (good), τοῖς (to those) κατὰ (according to) πρόθεσιν (His purpose) κλητοῖς (called) οὖσιν (being).

³³ τίς (Who) ἐγκαλέσει (will bring an accusation) κατὰ (against) ἐκλεκτῶν (the elect) Θεοῦ (of God)? Θεὸς (God is) ὁ (the One) δικαιῶν (justifying). ³⁴ τίς (Who is) ὁ (the one) κατακρινῶν (condemning)? Χριστὸς (For it is Christ) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), ὁ (the one) ἀποθανών (having died), μᾶλλον (rather) δὲ (now) ἐγερθείς (having been raised up), ὅς (who) ‹καί› (also) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (at the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὃς (who) καὶ (and) ἐντυγχάνει (is interceding) ὑπὲρ (for) ἡμῶν (us). ³⁵ Τίς (Who) ἡμᾶς (us) χωρίσει (will separate) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) ἀγάπης (love) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ)? θλῖψις (Tribulation), ἢ (or) στενοχωρία (distress), ἢ (or) διωγμὸς (persecution), ἢ (or) λιμὸς (famine), ἢ (or) γυμνότης (nakedness), ἢ (or) κίνδυνος (danger), ἢ (or) μάχαιρα (sword)?

²³ καὶ (also) ἵνα (that) γνωρίσῃ (He might make known) τὸν (the) πλοῦτον (riches) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐπὶ (upon) σκεύη (the vessels) ἐλέους (of mercy), ἃ (which) προητοίμασεν (He prepared beforehand) εἰς (for) δόξαν (glory), ²⁴ οὓς (whom) καὶ (even) ἐκάλεσεν (He has called), ἡμᾶς (us) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐξ (out from) Ἰουδαίων (the Jews), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἐξ (out from) ἐθνῶν (the Gentiles)?

¹² παρακαλοῦντες (exhorting) ὑμᾶς (you) καὶ (and) παραμυθούμενοι (comforting) καὶ (and) μαρτυρόμενοι (charging) εἰς (unto) τὸ (-) περιπατεῖν (to walk) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀξίως (worthily) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), τοῦ (who) καλοῦντος (calls) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) ἑαυτοῦ (of Himself) βασιλείαν (kingdom) καὶ (and) δόξαν (glory).

¹³ Ἡμεῖς (We) δὲ (however) ὀφείλομεν (ought) εὐχαριστεῖν (to give thanks) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) πάντοτε (always) περὶ (concerning) ὑμῶν (you), ἀδελφοὶ (brothers) ἠγαπημένοι (beloved) ὑπὸ (by) Κυρίου (the Lord), ὅτι (that) εἵλατο (has chosen) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀπ᾽‿ (from) ἀρχῆς (the beginning), εἰς (unto) σωτηρίαν (salvation) ἐν (in) ἁγιασμῷ (the sanctification) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit), καὶ (and) πίστει (by faith) ἀληθείας (of the truth); ¹⁴ εἰς (to) ὃ (this) καὶ (also) ἐκάλεσεν (He called) ὑμᾶς (you), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) ἡμῶν (of us), εἰς (to) περιποίησιν (the obtaining) δόξης (of the glory) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).

¹¹ Πιστὸς (Trustworthy is) ὁ (the) λόγος (saying): Εἰ (If) γὰρ (for) συναπεθάνομεν (we have died together with Him), καὶ (also) συζήσομεν (we will live together with Him);

⁹ Ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) γένος (are a race) ἐκλεκτόν (chosen), βασίλειον (a royal) ἱεράτευμα (priesthood), ἔθνος (a nation) ἅγιον (holy), λαὸς (a people) εἰς (for His) περιποίησιν (possession), ὅπως (so that) τὰς (the) ἀρετὰς (excellencies) ἐξαγγείλητε (you may proclaim) τοῦ (of the One) ἐκ (out of) σκότους (darkness) ὑμᾶς (you) καλέσαντος (having called), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) θαυμαστὸν (marvelous) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φῶς (light),

⁹ μὴ (not) ἀποδιδόντες (repaying) κακὸν (evil) ἀντὶ (for) κακοῦ (evil) ἢ (or) λοιδορίαν (insult) ἀντὶ (for) λοιδορίας (insult); τοὐναντίον (on the contrary) δὲ (however), εὐλογοῦντες (blessing), ὅτι (because) εἰς (to) τοῦτο (this) ἐκλήθητε (you were called), ἵνα (so that) εὐλογίαν (blessing) κληρονομήσητε (you should inherit).

¹³ ἀλλὰ (But) καθὸ (as) κοινωνεῖτε (you have shared) τοῖς (in the) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) παθήμασιν (sufferings), χαίρετε (rejoice), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἀποκαλύψει (revelation) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) αὐτοῦ (of Him), χαρῆτε (you may rejoice) ἀγαλλιώμενοι (exulting). ¹⁴ Εἰ (If) ὀνειδίζεσθε (you are insulted) ἐν (in) ὀνόματι (the name) Χριστοῦ (of Christ), μακάριοι (you are blessed), ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) τῆς (-) δόξης (of glory) καὶ (and) τὸ (-) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) Πνεῦμα (Spirit) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀναπαύεται (rests).

¹⁰ Ὁ (The) δὲ (now) Θεὸς (God) πάσης (of all) χάριτος (grace), ὁ (the one) καλέσας (having called) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (to) τὴν (the) αἰώνιον (eternal) αὐτοῦ (of Him) δόξαν (glory) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ), ὀλίγον (a little while) παθόντας (of you having suffered), αὐτὸς (He Himself) καταρτίσει (will perfect), στηρίξει (will confirm), σθενώσει (will strengthen), θεμελιώσει (and will establish you).

¹⁰ Διὸ (Therefore) μᾶλλον (rather), ἀδελφοί (brothers), σπουδάσατε (be diligent), βεβαίαν (sure) ὑμῶν (your) τὴν (-) κλῆσιν (calling) καὶ (and) ἐκλογὴν (election) ποιεῖσθαι (to make), ταῦτα (these things) γὰρ (for) ποιοῦντες (practicing) οὐ (never) μὴ (not) πταίσητέ (shall you stumble) ποτε (at any time).

¹⁴ Οὗτοι (These) μετὰ (with) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) πολεμήσουσιν (war will make), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) Ἀρνίον (Lamb) νικήσει (will overcome) αὐτούς (them), ὅτι (because) Κύριος (Lord) κυρίων (of lords) ἐστὶν (He is), καὶ (and) Βασιλεὺς (King) βασιλέων (of kings); καὶ (and) οἱ (those) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (Him) κλητοὶ (are called) καὶ (and) ἐκλεκτοὶ (chosen) καὶ (and) πιστοί (faithful).”

⁹ Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Γράψον (Write), ‘Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) δεῖπνον (supper) τοῦ (of the) γάμου (marriage) τοῦ (of the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb) κεκλημένοι (having been invited).’” καὶ (And) λέγει (he says) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (the) λόγοι (words) ἀληθινοὶ (true) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) εἰσιν (are).”
