⁶ and having readiness within to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience may have been fulfilled.

³ But Peter said, “Ananias, because of why has Satan filled your heart for you to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back from the proceeds of the land? ⁴ Remaining, did not it remain yours? And having been sold, was it not in the own authority? Why did you purpose this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!” ⁵ And hearing these words, Ananias, having fallen down, breathed his last. And great fear came upon all those hearing. ⁶ And the younger men having arisen, covered him, and having carried him out, buried him. ⁷ Now it came to pass about three hours afterward, his wife also came in, not knowing that having come to pass. ⁸ And Peter replied to her, “Tell me if you sold the land for so much?” And she said, “Yes, for so much.” ⁹ But Peter said to her, “Why is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those having buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” ¹⁰ And immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men having come in, found her dead; and having carried her out, they buried her by her husband. ¹¹ And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all those hearing these things.

¹⁰ said, “O full of all deceit and all craft, son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways the of Lord? ¹¹ And now behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind, not seeing the sun during a season.” And immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and going about, he was seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

²¹ What do you desire? Should I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

³ For I, though being absent in body, now being present in spirit, have already judged the one having thus produced this, as being present, ⁴ in the name of our Lord Jesus, of you having been gathered together and of me in spirit, with the power of the Lord Jesus, ⁵ to deliver such a one to Satan for destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

⁹ For this indeed also did I write, so that I might know the proof of you, whether you are obedient to everything.

¹⁵ And his affections are more abundantly toward you, remembering the obedience of all of you, how you received him with fear and trembling.

² I have warned as being present the second time, and being absent now; and I warn those having sinned before and all the rest that, if I come to the same again, I will not spare anyone,

¹⁰ Therefore I write these things being absent, so that being present I should not treat you with severity according to the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.

²⁰ among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, that they may be disciplined not to blaspheme.

¹⁰ Because of this, if I might come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he is doing, speaking against us with evil words; and not being satisfied with these, neither he receives the brothers himself, and he forbids those purposing, and he casts them out from the church.
