⁴ in everything, rather, we are commending ourselves as God’s servants: in great endurance, in tribulations, in hardships, in distresses;

¹⁹ By your patient endurance, you will gain your souls.

²² Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man having been set forth by God to you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in your the midst, as you yourselves know,

¹⁶ For I will show to him how much it behooves him to suffer for My name.”

²³ except that the Holy Spirit fully testifies to me in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. ²⁴ But I make my life neither dear nor any account to myself, so as to finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus: to testify fully the gospel of the grace of God.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my needs and to those being with me.

³ And not only so, but also we glory in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; ⁴ and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

⁸ But God demonstrates His love to us, that of us being still sinners, Christ died for us.

³⁵ Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ As it has been written: “For Your sake we face death all the day; we were regarded as sheep of slaughter.”

¹⁸ For the one serving Christ in these things is well-pleasing to God and approved by men.

¹⁰ Greet Apelles, the approved in Christ. Greet those of the household of Aristobulus.

⁵ Who then is Apollos? And who is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord has given to each.

¹ So let a man regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries.

¹¹ As far as the present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clad, and are buffeted, and wander homeless, ¹² and we toil, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;

¹¹ If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it a great thing if we will reap material things from you?

¹⁷ For we are not like the many, peddling the word of God, but as of sincerity, but as of God, we speak before God in Christ.

⁶ who also has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

² But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor falsifying the word of God, but by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man’s conscience before God.

⁸ being hard pressed in every way but not being crushed, being perplexed but not despairing,

¹⁷ For the momentary lightness of our affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory, far surpassing to excessiveness.

¹¹ For behold, how much earnestness this very same thing—to have been grieved according to God—has produced in you: but reasoned defense, but indignation, but fear, but longing, but zeal, but vindication! In everything, you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

⁹ And being present with you and having been in need, I did not burden anyone; for the brothers having come from Macedonia completely filled up my need, and in everything I kept and will keep myself unburdensome to you.

²³ Are they servants of Christ? I speak as being beside myself, I too above measure: more abundantly in labors, more abundantly in imprisonments, in beatings above measure, in deaths often.

²⁷ in labor and toil, often in watchings; in hunger and thirst, often in fastings; in cold and nakedness.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and difficulties for Christ; for when I might be weak, then I am strong.

¹² For the signs of the apostle were performed among you in all perseverance, and in signs, and wonders, and miracles.

¹¹ Not that I speak as to destitution, for I have learned to be content in that which I am. ¹² I know also how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In everything, and in all things, I have learned the secret also to be full and to hunger, also to abound and to be deficient.

¹¹ being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might, unto all endurance and patience with joy,

²⁴ Now I rejoice in the sufferings for you, and I am filling up in my flesh that which is lacking of the tribulations of Christ for His body, which is the church,

³ For our exhortation was not of error, nor of impurity, nor in trickery; ⁴ but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, the One examining our hearts. ⁵ For never at any time were we with word of flattery, just as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness— ⁶ nor seeking glory from men, nor from you, nor from others, though having authority with weight to be, as apostles of Christ. ⁷ But we were gentle in your midst, as a nursing mother would cherish her own children. ⁸ So yearning over you, we were pleased to have imparted to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you have become beloved to us. ⁹ For you remember, brothers, our labor and hardship: Working night and day in order not to burden any one of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. ¹⁰ You are witnesses, and God, how holily and righteously and blamelessly we behaved toward you, those believing, ¹¹ just as you know how each one of you, as a father his own children,

² and we sent Timothy, our brother and fellow worker of God in the gospel of Christ, in order to strengthen and to encourage you concerning your faith, ³ that no one be moved in these tribulations. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this.

⁷ because of this, brothers, we were encouraged as to you in all our distress and tribulation, through your faith.

¹⁴ And we exhort you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient toward all.

¹⁵ But she will be saved through childbearing, if they abide in faith and love and holiness, with self-restraint.

⁶ Laying before the brothers these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good teaching that you have closely followed.

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.

⁸ Therefore you should not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner; but suffer together for the gospel, according to the power of God,

²⁴ And it behooves the bond-servant of the Lord not to quarrel, but to be gentle toward all, able to teach, forbearing,

¹⁰ But you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, ¹¹ persecutions, sufferings such as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what manner of persecutions I endured! And yet the Lord delivered me out of all. ¹² And all also desiring to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

⁵ But you, be sober in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fully carry out your ministry.

¹ Therefore we also, having such a great cloud of witnesses encompassing us, having laid aside every weight and the sin easily entangling, should run with endurance the race lying before us,

⁷ Therefore be patient, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer awaits the precious fruit of the earth, being patient for it until it receives the early and latter rains. ⁸ You also be patient; strengthen your hearts, because the coming of the Lord has drawn near. ⁹ Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing before the doors. ¹⁰ Brothers as an example of suffering evils and of patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

⁹ I John, your brother and fellow-partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance in Jesus, was in the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

¹⁰ Because you have kept the word of My patient endurance, I also will keep you out of the hour of the trial being about to come upon the whole inhabited world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.
