²¹ Blessed are those hungering now, for you will be filled. Blessed are those weeping now, for you will laugh.

⁴ Blessed are those mourning, for they will be comforted.

⁶ Blessed are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, for they will be filled.

⁵³ He has filled those hungering with good things, and those being rich He has sent away empty.

²⁵ Woe to you having been filled now, for you will hunger. Woe to those laughing now, for you will mourn and weep.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to her, “If you had known the gift of God and who it is saying to you, ‘Give Me to drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given to you living water.”

³⁵ Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; the one coming to Me never shall hunger, and the one believing in Me never shall thirst at any time.

³⁷ Now in the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. ³⁸ The one believing in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.’”

³⁵ Jesus wept.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, that you will weep and will lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be grieved, but your grief will turn to joy. ²¹ The woman has pain when she is giving birth, because her hour has come; but when she brings forth the child, she remembers the tribulation no longer, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.

¹ I speak the truth in Christ. I am not lying. My conscience testifies for me in the Holy Spirit ² that my grief is great, and unceasing sorrow is in my heart. ³ For I could wish myself to be a curse, separated from Christ for my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh,

¹¹ As far as the present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clad, and are buffeted, and wander homeless,

⁴ the One comforting us in all our tribulation, for us to be able to comfort those in every tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God, ⁵ because as the sufferings of the Christ abound toward us, so through Christ our comfort also abounds. ⁶ But if we are constricted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are encouraged, it is for your comfort, operating in the endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.

¹⁰ as being sorrowful yet always rejoicing; as poor yet enriching many; as having nothing and yet possessing all things.

¹⁰ For grief according to God produces repentance to salvation without regret; but the world’s grief produces death. ¹¹ For behold, how much earnestness this very same thing—to have been grieved according to God—has produced in you: but reasoned defense, but indignation, but fear, but longing, but zeal, but vindication! In everything, you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

²⁷ in labor and toil, often in watchings; in hunger and thirst, often in fastings; in cold and nakedness.

¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and difficulties for Christ; for when I might be weak, then I am strong.

² Esteem it all joy, my brothers, when you might fall into various trials, ³ knowing that testing of your faith produces endurance. ⁴ And let endurance have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

¹² Blessed is the man who endures trial, because, having been approved, he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those loving Him.

⁶ in which you greatly rejoice, at present for a little while if it is being necessary, having been put to grief by various trials, ⁷ so that the proven genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold, perishing though being refined by fire, may be discovered to result in praise and glory and honor in the revelation of Jesus Christ, ⁸ whom not having seen you love, on whom now believing though not seeing you also exult with joy inexpressible and filled with glory,

¹⁶ they will not hunger any more, neither will they thirst anymore, nor shall the sun at all fall upon them, nor any scorching heat;

³ And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them as their God.
