²² Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude you, and shall insult you, and shall cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man.

¹⁰ Blessed are those having been persecuted on account of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ¹¹ Blessed are you when they shall insult you and shall persecute you, and lying shall say all kinds of evil against you on account of Me. ¹² Rejoice and exult, because great is your reward in the heavens; for thus they persecuted the prophets before you.

¹⁸ And you will be brought also before governors and kings on account of Me, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

²² And you will be hated by all on account of My name; but the one having endured to the end, he will be saved.

³⁹ The one having found his life will lose it, and the one having lost his life on account of Me will find it.

⁹ But you take heed to yourselves. They will betray you to courts, and you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will stand before governors and kings because of Me, for a testimony to them. ¹⁰ And the gospel it behooves first to proclaim to all the nations. ¹¹ But when they might lead you away, delivering you up, do not be anxious beforehand what you should say; but whatever might be given to you in that hour, speak that. For you are not those speaking, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father, child; and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death. ¹³ And you will be hated by all on account of My name; but the one having endured to the end, he will be saved.

¹⁵ And having cast him forth outside the vineyard, they killed him. What therefore will the master of the vineyard do to them?

¹⁷ And you will be hated by all because of My name.

⁷ The world is not able to hate you; but it hates Me, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.

²² His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews already had agreed together that if anyone should confess Him Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue. ²³ Because of this, his parents said, “He has age. Ask him.” ²⁴ Therefore they called out a second time the man who had been blind, and said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.” ²⁵ Then he answered, “Whether He is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that being blind, now I see.” ²⁶ So they said to him, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?” ²⁷ He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you wish to hear again? Do you wish to become His disciples also?” ²⁸ And they railed at him and said, “You are a disciple of that One, but we are disciples of Moses.

³⁴ They answered and said to him, “You were born entirely in sins, and do you teach us?” And they cast him out.

⁴² Nevertheless, indeed many even of the rulers believed in Him, but on account of the Pharisees they were not confessing, so that they might not be put out of the synagogue.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world but I chose you out of the world, on account of this, the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But they will do all these things against you on account of My name, because they have not known the One having sent Me.

² They will put you out of the synagogues; but an hour is coming that everyone having killed you will think it is to offer a service to God.

¹⁴ I have given them Your word, and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ For I will show to him how much it behooves him to suffer for My name.”

²² Now they were listening to him until this word. Then they lifted up their voice, saying, “Away with such from the earth. For he is not fit to live!”

⁵ For we are having found this man a pest, and stirring insurrection among all the Jews in the world, and a leader of the sect of the Nazarenes

¹⁰ We are fools on account of Christ, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; You are honored, but we are without honor. ¹¹ As far as the present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are poorly clad, and are buffeted, and wander homeless,

²³ Are they servants of Christ? I speak as being beside myself, I too above measure: more abundantly in labors, more abundantly in imprisonments, in beatings above measure, in deaths often. ²⁴ Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked. I have passed a night and a day in the deep sea; ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of rivers, in perils of robbers; in perils from my own race, in perils from the Gentiles; in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness; in perils on the sea, in perils among false brothers;

²⁸ and not being frightened in anything by those opposing you, which is a demonstration of destruction to them, but of salvation to you—and this from God. ²⁹ For it has been granted to you concerning Christ, not only to believe in Him but also to suffer concerning Him, ³⁰ having the same conflict such as you saw in me and now hear of in me.

¹⁴ For you became imitators, brothers, of the churches of God in Judea being in Christ Jesus. For the same as them, you also suffered from the own countrymen as they also did from the Jews, ¹⁵ who having killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and having driven us out, and not pleasing God, are also set against all men,

¹¹ persecutions, sufferings such as happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what manner of persecutions I endured! And yet the Lord delivered me out of all. ¹² And all also desiring to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

¹⁹ For this is acceptable, if for sake of conscience toward God, anyone endures griefs, suffering unjustly. ²⁰ For what kind of credit is it, if sinning and being struck, you shall endure? But if you shall endure doing good and suffering, this is commendable before God.

¹⁴ But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, you are blessed. “And you should not be afraid of their threats, neither should you be troubled.”

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fire among you taking place for a trial to you, as if a strange thing were happening to you. ¹³ But as you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also in the revelation of His glory you may rejoice, exulting. ¹⁴ If you are insulted in the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ¹⁵ For let not any of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or as a troublesome meddler, ¹⁶ but if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this name.
