Mark 12 Cross References - BLB

1 And He began to speak to them in parables: “A man planted a vineyard, and placed around it a fence, and dug a wine vat, and built a tower, and rented it out to farmers, and traveled abroad. 2 And he sent a servant to the farmers at the due time, that he might receive from the farmers from the fruit of the vineyard. 3 But having taken him, they beat him, and sent him away empty-handed. 4 And again he sent to them another servant, and him they struck on the head, and treated shamefully. 5 And He sent another, and him they killed; also many others, indeed some beating, and some killing. 6 Yet having one beloved son, he sent him to them last, saying, ‘They will have respect for my son.’ 7 But those farmers said to themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 And having taken him, they killed him, and cast him forth outside the vineyard. 9 What therefore will the master of the vineyard do? He will come and will destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which those building rejected, this has become the chief corner; 11 this was from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?” 12 And they were seeking to lay hold of Him, and yet they feared the crowd; for they knew that He had spoken the parable against them. And having left Him, they went away. 13 And they send some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Him, that they might catch Him in discourse. 14 And having come, they say to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and to You there is no care about any one; for You do not look on the appearance of men, but teach the way of God on the basis of the truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not pay?” 15 And knowing their hypocrisy, He said to them, “Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius, that I might see it.” 16 And they brought it, and He says to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.” 17 And Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God.” And they were amazed at Him. 18 And Sadducees, who say there is not a resurrection, come to Him. And they began questioning Him, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us, that if anyone’s brother should die and leave behind a wife and not leave children, that his brother should take the wife and raise up seed for his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and dying, left no seed. 21 And the second took her, and died, not having left seed. And the third likewise. 22 And the seven left no seed. Last of all, the woman also died. 23 In the resurrection, when they rise, of which of them will she be wife? For the seven had her as wife.” 24 Jesus was saying to them, “Do you not err because of this, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise out from the dead, neither do they marry, nor are given in marriage; but they are like angels in the heavens. 26 And concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses on the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You err greatly.” 28 And one of the scribes having come up, having heard them reasoning together, having seen that He answered them well, questioned Him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘Hear this O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord, 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is not another commandment greater than these.” 32 And the scribe said to Him, “Right, Teacher. You have spoken according to truth that He is One, and there is not another besides Him, 33 and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love the neighbor as oneself is more important than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 And Jesus, having seen him that he answered wisely, said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to question Him any longer. 35 And answering, Jesus was saying, teaching in the temple, “How do the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself said by the Holy Spirit: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, until I place Your enemies as a footstool of Your feet.”’ 37 David himself calls Him Lord. And from where is He his son?” And the great crowd was listening to Him gladly. 38 And in His teaching He was saying, “Beware of the scribes, desiring to walk about in robes, and greetings in the marketplaces, 39 and first seats in the synagogues, and first places at the feasts; 40 those devouring the houses of widows, and praying at great length as a pretext. These will receive greater judgment.” 41 And having sat down opposite the treasury, He was watching how the crowd cast money into the treasury; and many rich were casting in much. 42 And one poor widow having come, cast in two lepta, which is a kodrantes. 43 And having summoned His disciples, He says to them, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has cast in more than all of those casting into the treasury. 44 For all cast in out of that which was abounding to them, but she out of her poverty cast in all, as much as she had of her whole livelihood.”

Matthew 13:10-15

10 And the disciples having approached, said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 And answering He said to them, “Because it has been granted to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will be in abundance. And whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Because of this I speak to them in parables: ‘Because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.’ 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, saying: ‘In hearing you will hear and never understand; and in seeing you will see and never perceive. 15 For the heart of this people has grown dull, and they barely hear with the ears, and they have closed their eyes, lest ever they should see with the eyes, and they should hear with the ears, and they should understand with the heart, and should turn, and I will heal them.’

Matthew 13:34-35

34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowds in parables, and He was not speaking to them without a parable, 35 so that it might be fulfilled that having been spoken by the prophet, saying: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.”

Then how will you understand all the parables?

Therefore cut it down! Why even should it use up the ground?’ 8 And answering, he says to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I shall dig around it, and put in manure, 9 and if indeed it should bear fruit in the time, so be it. But if not, you will cut it down.’”

But the farmers sent him away empty-handed, having beaten him. 11 And he proceeded to send another servant; but having beaten him and having dishonored him, they sent him away empty-handed. 12 And he proceeded to send a third; and having wounded him also, they cast him out. 13 Then the master of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’ 14 And having seen him, the farmers began reasoning among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir; let us kill him, so that the inheritance might become ours.’ 15 And having cast him forth outside the vineyard, they killed him. What therefore will the master of the vineyard do to them? 16 He will come and will destroy these farmers, and will give the vineyard to others.” And having heard it, they said, “Never may it be!” 17 But having looked at them, He said, “What then is this that has been written: ‘The stone which those building rejected, this has become into the head of the corner’? 18 Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but on whomever it might fall, it will grind him into powder.” 19 And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on Him in that hour, and they feared the people. For they perceived that He was speaking this parable against them.

John 15:1-8

1 I am the true vine and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch not bearing fruit in Me, He takes it away; and every one bearing fruit, He prunes it that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean by reason of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither you, unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. The one abiding in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit. For apart from Me you are able to do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown out like the branch and is dried up, and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and it is burned. 7 If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and to you it will come to pass. 8 In this My Father is glorified, that you should bear much fruit, and you shall be My disciples.

Romans 11:17-24

17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and have become a fellow-partaker of the fatness of the root of the olive tree, 18 do not boast over the branches. And if you boast against them, you do not support the root, but the root you. 19 You will say, then, “Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.” 20 Rightly so: They were broken off by the unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be high minded, but be afraid. 21 For if God did not at all spare the natural branches, neither will He spare you. 22 Behold therefore the kindness and severity of God: severity indeed upon those having fallen, but kindness of God toward you, if you continue in the kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off out of the naturally wild olive tree, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural, be grafted into the own olive tree!

Matthew 23:34-37

34 Because of this, behold, I send to you prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues, and will persecute from town to town; 35 so that upon you shall come all the righteous blood being poured out upon the earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. 37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those having been sent to her! Luke 11:47-51

47 Woe to you, for you build the tombs of the prophets, yet your fathers killed them. 48 So you are witnesses and consent to the works of your fathers; for indeed they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Because of this also, the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ 50 so that the blood of all the prophets having been poured out from the foundation of the world might be charged against this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the one having perished between the altar and the house. Yes, I say to you, it will be required of this generation.

3 And King Herod having heard this, was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And having assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he was inquiring of them where the Christ was to be born. 5 And they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus has it been written through the prophet: 6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come forth One leading, who will shepherd My people Israel.’” 7 Then Herod, having called the Magi secretly, inquired of them the exact time of the star appearing. 8 And having sent them to Bethlehem, he said, “Having gone, search carefully for the Child; and when You shall have found Him, bring word back to me, so that I also having come, may worship Him.” 9 And having heard the king, they departed. And behold, the star they had seen in the east went before them until, having arrived, it stood over the place where the Child was. 10 And having seen the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. 11 And having come into the house, they found the Child with His mother Mary, and having fallen down, they worshiped Him. And having opened their treasures, they offered to Him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been divinely warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they withdrew into their own country by another route. 13 And of them having withdrawn, behold, an angel of the Lord appears to Joseph in a dream saying, “Having arisen, take the Child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and remain there until I should tell you, for Herod is about to seek the Child to destroy Him.”

Therefore every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but after me is coming He who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to carry the sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire, 12 whose winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will clear His threshing floor and will gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Luke 19:41-44

41 And as He drew near, having seen the city, He wept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For days will come upon you that your enemies will cast around you a barricade, and will surround you and will hem you in on every side. 44 And they will level you to the ground, and your children within you, and will not leave a stone upon a stone within you, because you did not know the season of your visitation.”

Acts 13:46-48

46 And Paul and Barnabas, having spoken boldly, said, “It was necessary for the word of God to be spoken first to you. But since you thrust it away and do not judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. 47 For thus the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you for a light of the Gentiles, you to be for salvation to the uttermost part of the earth.’” 48 And the Gentiles hearing it were rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

Acts 28:23-28

23 Then having appointed him a day, many came to him to the lodging, to whom he expounded from morning to evening, fully testifying to the kingdom of God and persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets. 24 And indeed, some were persuaded of the things he is speaking, but some refused to believe. 25 And being discordant with one another they began to leave, Paul having spoken one word: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly by the prophet Isaiah to your fathers, 26 saying: ‘Go to this people and say, “In hearing you will hear and never understand; and in seeing you will see and never perceive.” 27 For the heart of this people has grown dull, and with the ears they barely hear, and they have closed their eyes, lest ever they should see with the eyes, and they should hear with the ears, and they should understand with the heart, and should turn, and I will heal them.’ 28 Therefore be it known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”

Romans 9:30-33

30 What then will we say? That Gentiles, not pursuing righteousness, have attained righteousness, and righteousness that is by faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not attain to that law. 32 Why? Because it was not by faith, but as by works. They stumbled over the stone of stumbling, 33 as it has been written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and the one believing on Him will never be put to shame.”

17 But having looked at them, He said, “What then is this that has been written: ‘The stone which those building rejected, this has become into the head of the corner’? 18 Everyone falling on that stone will be broken, but on whomever it might fall, it will grind him into powder.”

Acts 4:11-12

11 This is ‘the stone having been rejected by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’ 12 And there is salvation in no other, for there is not another name under heaven having been given among men, by which it behooves us to be saved.”

1 Peter 2:7-8

7 Therefore the preciousness is to you believing. But to those disobeying, “The stone which those building have rejected, this has become into the head of the corner,” 8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble at being disobedient to the word, to which also they were appointed.

32 This Jesus God has raised up, to which we all are witnesses. 33 Therefore having been exalted at the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has poured out this which you are both seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, 35 until I place Your enemies as a footstool of Your feet.”’ 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Acts 3:12-16

12 But having seen it, Peter answered to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this? Or why do you look intently on us as if by our own power or godliness we have made him to walk? 13 The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, whom indeed you betrayed and disowned in the presence of Pilate, that one having adjudged to release Him. 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and requested a murderer to be granted to you. 15 And you killed the Author of life, whom God has raised up out from the dead, whereof we are witnesses. 16 And on the faith in His name, this man whom you see and know, His name has strengthened; and the faith which is through Him has given to him this complete soundness before all of you.

Acts 13:40-41

40 Take heed therefore, lest that having been said in the prophets might come about: 41 ‘Behold, scoffers, and wonder and perish; for I am working a work in your days, a work that you would never believe, even if one should declare it to you.’”

Ephesians 3:8-11

8 To me, the very least of all saints, was given this grace: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ 9 and to enlighten all what is the administration of the mystery having been hidden from the ages in God, the One having created all things, 10 so that now through the church the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11 according to the purpose of the ages, which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?” 18 But having known their malice, Jesus said, “Hypocrites, why do you test Me? 19 Show Me the coin of the tribute.” And they presented to Him a denarius. 20 And He says to them, “Whose likeness and whose inscription is this?” 21 They say to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He says to them, “Therefore give back to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God.” 22 And having heard, they marveled. Whose image and inscription does it have?” And they said, “Caesar’s.” 25 And He said to them, “Therefore give back to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God.” 26 And they were not able to catch Him in His word before the people. And having marveled at His answer, they became silent.

But when they came, he was drawing back and was separating himself, being afraid of those of the circumcision. 13 And also the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically with him, so that, by their hypocrisy, even Barnabas was carried away. 14 But when I saw that they are not walking in line according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before all, “If you being a Jew live like a Gentile, and not like a Jew, why do you compel the Gentiles to Judaize?

23 On that day Sadducees, those saying there is no resurrection, came to Him, and they questioned Him, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If anyone should die not having children, his brother will marry his wife and will raise up offspring for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first died, and having married not having seed, he left his wife to his brother. 26 Likewise also the second, and the third, unto the seventh. 27 And last of all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, of which of the seven will she be wife? For all had her.” 29 And, Jesus answering said to them, “You err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection, neither do they marry, nor are given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven. 31 And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which has been spoken to you by God, saying, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” 33 And the crowds having heard, were astonished at His teaching.

And the first, having taken a wife, died childless; 30 and the second 31 and the third took her; and likewise also the seven did not leave children and died. 32 Finally the woman also died. 33 Therefore in the resurrection, the woman, whose wife does she become? For the seven had her as wife.” 34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those having been considered worthy to obtain that which is to the age, and the resurrection which is from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36 For neither are they able to die any more, for they are like the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.’ 38 Now He is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to Him.” 39 And some of the scribes answering, said, “Teacher, you have spoken well.” 40 And no longer did they dare to ask Him anything.

6 Then Paul, having known that the one part consists of Sadducees, but the other of Pharisees, began crying out in the Council, “Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; I am judged concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead.” 7 And of him saying this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided. 8 For indeed Sadducees say there to be no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but Pharisees confess both. 9 Then a great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the party of the Pharisees, having risen up, were contending saying, “We find nothing evil in this man. And what if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

1 Corinthians 15:13-18

13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then also our preaching is void, and your faith is void. 15 Then also we are found false witnesses of God, because we have witnessed concerning God that He raised up Christ, whom He has not raised if then the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Also then those having fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

1 Corinthians 15:42-54

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in decay; it is raised in immortality. 43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual. 45 So also it has been written: “The first man Adam became into a living soul;” the last Adam into a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual was not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man was made of dust from the earth, the second man from heaven. 48 As the one was made of dust, so also are those of the earth; and as is the heavenly one, so also are those of heaven. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood is not able to inherit the kingdom of God, nor does decay inherit immortality. 51 Behold, I tell to you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For it behooves this, the perishable to put on the imperishable; and this, the mortal to put on immortality. 54 Now when this the perishable shall have put on the imperishable, and this, the mortal, shall have put on immortality, then the word having been written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar, and having embraced them, and having confessed that they are strangers and sojourners on the earth. 14 For those saying such things make manifest that they are seeking their own country. 15 And indeed if they had been remembering that from where they came out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they stretch forward to a better one, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.

Matthew 5:19

Matthew 23:23

23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cumin, and you have neglected the weightier things of the Law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. It behooved you to do these, and not to be leaving aside those.

Luke 10:25-28

25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing Him, saying, “Teacher, what having done, will I inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What has been written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And answering, he said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind’ and ‘Your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.”

Romans 13:8-9

8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one loving the other has fulfilled the Law. 9 For, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, in, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind, love is not envious, it is not boastful, it is not puffed up. 5 It does not act unbecomingly, it does not seek the things of its own, it is not easily provoked, it keeps no account of wrongs. 6 It does not delight at unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails; but if there are prophesies, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will be ceased; if there is knowledge it will pass away.

James 2:8-13

8 If indeed you keep the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever shall keep the whole Law, but shall stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all. 11 For the One having said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” But if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the Law. 12 So speak and so act as being about to be judged by the Law of freedom. 13 For judgment without mercy will be to the one not having shown mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
