³⁹ And having entered, He says to them, “Why do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeps.”

¹¹ He said these things, and after this He says to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go that I may awaken him.” ¹² Therefore His disciples said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.” ¹³ Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He speaks of the rest of sleep.

¹⁰ But Paul having descended, fell upon him, and having embraced him, he said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him!”

³⁰ Because of this, many are weak and sick among you, and many are fallen asleep.

¹³ But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those having fallen asleep, so that you should not be grieved, just as also the rest, those having no hope. ¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those having fallen asleep.
