⁴ And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all his chariot horses, but he reserved for himself a hundred chariots.

¹⁶ For he shall not multiply to himself horses, and he shall by no means turn the people back to Egypt, lest he should multiply to himself horses; for the Lord said, You shall not return that way again.

⁶ And the Lord said to Joshua, Be not afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will put them to flight before Israel: you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire

⁹ And Joshua did to them as the Lord commanded him: he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.

²⁶ And Solomon had four thousand mares for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; and he put them in the cities of his chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem. And he ruled over all the kings from the river to the land of the Philistines, and to the borders of Egypt.
