¹ In the eighteenth year Nebuchadnezzar the king made a golden image, its height was sixty cubits, and its breadth was six cubits. And he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. ² And he sent forth to gather the governors, and the captains, and the heads of provinces, chiefs, and princes, and those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, to come to the dedication of the image. ³ So the heads of provinces, the governors, the captains, the chiefs, the great princes, those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, were gathered to the dedication of the image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they stood before the image. ⁴ Then a herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, you peoples, tribes, and languages, ⁵ at what hour you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and every kind of music, you shall fall down and worship the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. ⁶ And whosoever shall not fall down and worship, in the same hour he shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace. ⁷ And it came to pass when the nations heard the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the nations, tribes, and languages fell down and worshipped the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. ⁸ Then certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews to the king, saying, ⁹ O king, live forever! ¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree that every man who shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, ¹¹ and shall not fall down and worship the golden image, shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace. ¹² There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon--Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who have not obeyed your decree, O king: they serve not your gods, and worship not the golden image which you have set up. ¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar, in wrath and anger, commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And they were brought before the king. ¹⁴ And Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you serve not my gods, and worship not the golden image which I have set up? ¹⁵ Now then, if you are ready, whenever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, harmony, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the golden image which I have made, fine; but if you will not worship, in the same hour you shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁶ Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego answered and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, We have no need to answer you concerning this matter. ¹⁷ For our God whom we serve is in the heavens, able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He shall rescue us from your hands, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, neither will we worship the image which you have set up. ¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and the form of his countenance was changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And he gave orders to heat the furnace seven times more than usual, until it should burn to the uttermost. ²⁰ And he commanded mighty men to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then those men were bound with their coats, caps, and trousers, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace, ²² forasmuch as the king's word prevailed; and the furnace was made exceedingly hot. ²³ Then these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell bound into the midst of the burning furnace, and walked in the midst of the flame, singing praises to God, and blessing the Lord. ²⁴ And Nebuchadnezzar heard them singing praises. And he wondered, and rose up in haste, and said to his nobles, Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? And they said to the king, Yes, O king. ²⁵ And the king said, But I see four men loose, and walking in the midst of the fire, and there has no harm happened to them; and the appearance of the fourth is like the Son of God. ²⁶ Then Nebuchadnezzar drew near to the door of the burning fiery furnace, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, you servants of the Most High God, proceed forth, and come here. So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, came forth out of the midst of the fire. ²⁷ Then were assembled the satraps, and captains, and heads of provinces, and the royal princes; and they saw the men, and perceived that the fire had not had power against their bodies, and the hair of their head was not burned, and their coats were not scorched, nor was the smell of fire upon them. ²⁸ And King Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants, because they trusted in Him; and they have changed the king's word, and delivered their bodies to be burned, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. ²⁹ Therefore I publish a decree: Every people, tribe, or language that shall speak reproachfully against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be destroyed, and their houses shall be plundered, because there is no other God who shall be able to deliver thus. ³⁰ Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, in the province of Babylon, and advanced them, and gave them authority to rule over all the Jews who were in his kingdom.

²³ You shall not make for yourselves gods of silver, and gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.

² And Aaron said to them, Take off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives and daughters, and bring them to me. ³ And all the people took off the golden earrings that were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ And he received them from their hands, and formed them with an engraving tool; and he made them a molded calf, and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ And Moses returned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, this people have sinned a great sin, and they have made for themselves golden gods.

²⁵ You shall burn with fire the graven images of their gods: you shall not covet their silver, neither shall you take to yourself gold from them, lest you should offend thereby, because it is an abomination to the Lord your God.

²⁶ And the weight of the golden earrings which he asked was one thousand seven hundred pieces of gold, besides the crescents, and the chains, and the garments, and the purple cloths that were on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were on the necks of their camels. ²⁷ And Gideon made an ephod of it, an set it in his city in Ephratha; and all Israel went there whoring after it, and it became a stumbling block to Gideon and his house.

²⁸ And the king took counsel, and went, and made two golden heifers, and said to the people, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold, here are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁷ For truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have wasted the nations, ¹⁸ and have cast their gods into the fire: because they are no gods, but the works of men's hands, wood and stone; and they have destroyed them.

¹ In the second year of reign of Artaxerxes the great king, on the first day of Nisan, Mordecai the {\i son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Jew dwelling in the city of Susa, a great man, serving in the king's palace, saw a vision. Now he was of the captivity which Nebuchaznezzar king of Babylon had carried captive from Jerusalem, with Jeconiah the king of Judea. And this was his dream: Behold, voices and a noise, thunders and an earthquake, and tumult upon the earth. And behold, two great serpents came forth, both ready for conflict, and there came from them a great voice, and by their voice of every nation was prepared for battle, even to fight against the nation of the just. And behold, a day of darkness and blackness, tribulation and anguish, affliction and great tumult upon the earth. And all the righteous nation was troubled, fearing their own afflictions; and they prepared to die, and cried to God. And from their cry there came as it were a great river from a little fountain, even much water. And light and the sun arose, and the lowly were exalted, and devoured the honorable. And Mordecai, who had seen this vision and what God designed to do, having awoke, kept in his heart, and desired by all means to interpret it, even till night. And Mordecai rested quiet in the palace with Gabatha and Tharrha, the king's two chamberlains, eunuchs who guarded the palace. And he heard their reasonings and searched out their plans, and learned that they were preparing to lay hands on King Artaxerxes. And he informed the king concerning them. And the king examined the two chamberlains, and they confessed, and were executed. And the king wrote these things for a memorial; also Mordecai wrote concerning these matters. And the king commanded Mordecai to attend in the palace, and gave him gifts for this service. And Haman the son of Hammedatha the Bugaean was honorable in the sight of the king, and he endeavored to hurt Mordecai and his people, because of the two eunuchs of the king.}
^(1:1) And it came to pass after these things in the days of Artaxerxes (this Artaxerxes ruled over a hundred and twenty-seven provinces from India),

⁴ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of men's hands. ⁵ They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see; ⁶ they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell; ⁷ they have hands, but they cannot handle; they have feet, but they cannot walk; they cannot speak through their throat. ⁸ Let those that make them become like them, and all who trust in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the works of men's hands.

²⁰ For in that day a man shall cast forth his silver and gold abominations, which they made, in order to worship vanities and bats;

²² And you shall pollute the plated idols, and you shall grind to powder the gilt ones, and shall scatter them as the water of a removed woman, and you shall thrust them forth as dung.

¹⁹ Has not the artificer made an image, or the goldsmith having melted gold, guilded it over, and made it a similitude? ²⁰ For the artificer chooses out a wood that will not rot, and will wisely inquire how he shall set up his image, and that so that it should not be moved. ²¹ Will you not know? Will you not hear? Has it not been told to you of old? Have you not known the foundations of the earth? ²² It is He that comprehends the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants in it are as grasshoppers; He that set up the heaven as a chamber, and stretched it out as a tent to dwell in; ²³ He that appoints princes to rule as nothing, and has made the earth as nothing. ²⁴ For they shall not plant, neither shall they sow, neither shall their root be fixed in the ground; He has blown upon them, and they have withered, and a storm shall carry them away like sticks. ²⁵ Now then to whom have you compared Me, that I may be exalted? Says the Holy One. ²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see, who has displayed all these things? Even He that brings forth His host by number; He shall call them all by name by means of His great glory, and by the power of His might; nothing has escaped you. ²⁷ For do not say, O Jacob, and why have you spoken, O Israel, saying, My way is hid from God, and my God has taken away my judgment, and has departed? ²⁸ And now, have you not known? Have you not heard? The eternal God, the God that formed the ends of the earth, shall not hunger, nor be weary, and there is no searching of His understanding. ²⁹ He gives strength to the hungry, and sorrow to them that are not suffering. ³⁰ For the young men shall hunger, and the youths shall be weary, and the choice men shall be powerless; ³¹ but they that wait on God shall renew their strength; they shall put forth new feathers like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

⁶ They that furnish gold out of a purse, and silver by weight, will weigh it in a scale, and they hire a goldsmith and make idols, and bow down, and worship them.

⁹ brought from Tarshish, gold will come from Uphaz, and the work of goldsmiths. They are all the works of craftsmen, they will clothe themselves with blue and scarlet.

²⁰ Will a man make gods for himself, whereas these are no gods?

³¹ You, O king, were watching; and behold, an image: that image was great, and the appearance of it was excellent, standing before your face; and its form was awesome. ³² It was an image, the head of which was of fine gold, its hands and breast and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of brass,

⁴⁸ And the king promoted Daniel, and gave him great and abundant gifts, and set him over the whole province of Babylon, and made him chief satrap over all the wise men of Babylon.

³⁰ Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, in the province of Babylon, and advanced them, and gave them authority to rule over all the Jews who were in his kingdom.

²³ And you have exalted yourself against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of His house, and you, your nobles, your mistresses, and your concubines have drunk wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

⁴ They have made kings for themselves, but not by Me: they have ruled, but they did not make it known to Me: of their silver and their gold they have made images to themselves, that they might be destroyed.

¹⁹ Woe to him that says to the wood, Awake, arise; and to the stone, Arise! For it is an image, and this is a casting of gold and silver, and there is no breath in it.

²⁹ "Therefore, being the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and the imagination of man.

²⁶ And you observe and hear that not only at Ephesus, but almost in all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great multitude, saying that they are not gods which are made by human hands.

²⁰ But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent from the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and of wood, which neither are able to see nor to hear nor to walk.

⁴ And he received them from their hands, and formed them with an engraving tool; and he made them a molded calf, and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt. ⁵ And Aaron, having seen it, built an altar before it, and Aaron made a proclamation saying, Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord. ⁶ And having risen early on the next day, he offered whole burnt offerings, and offered a peace offering; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

² And they called them to the sacrifices of their idols; and the people ate of their sacrifices, and worshipped their idols.

²³ And the chiefs of the Philistines met to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon, and to make merry. And they said, our god has given into our hand our enemy Sampson.

³² And Jeroboam appointed a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, according to the feast in the land of Judah;

¹² When a king hearkens to unjust language, all his subjects are transgressors.

²⁷ Then were assembled the satraps, and captains, and heads of provinces, and the royal princes; and they saw the men, and perceived that the fire had not had power against their bodies, and the hair of their head was not burned, and their coats were not scorched, nor was the smell of fire upon them.

¹ And it pleased Darius, and he set over the kingdom a hundred and twenty satraps, to be in all his kingdom; ² and over them three governors (of whom one was Daniel) for the satraps to give account to them, that the king should not be troubled. ³ And Daniel was over them, for there was an excellent spirit in him; and the king set him over all his kingdom. ⁴ Then the governors and satraps sought to find occasion against Daniel; but they found against him no occasion, nor trespass, nor error, because he was faithful.

⁶ Then the governors and satraps stood by the king, and said to him, King Darius, live forever! ⁷ All who preside over your kingdom, captains and satraps, chiefs and local governors, have taken counsel together, to establish by a royal statute, and to confirm a decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except for you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

² with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and those dwelling on the earth became drunk from the wine of her fornication."

¹ A Psalm of Asaph. God stands in the assembly of gods; and in the midst of them will judge gods. ² How long will you judge unrighteously, and accept the persons of sinners? Pause. ³ Judge the orphan and poor; do justice to the low and needy. ⁴ Rescue the needy, and deliver the poor out of the hand of the sinner. ⁵ They know not, nor understand; they walk on in darkness; all the foundations of the earth shall be shaken. ⁶ I have said, You are gods; and all of you children of the Most High. ⁷ But you die as men, and fall as one of the princes. ⁸ Arise, O God, judge the earth; for You shall inherit all nations.

³⁴ But recognizing he was a Jew, there arose one voice from them all, calling out for two hours, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" ³⁵ And having quieted the crowd, the city clerk said: "Men of Ephesus, for what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image fallen from heaven?

²¹ Because, having known God, they did not glorify Him as God, or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. ²² Professing to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of the own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies among themselves, ²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. ²⁶ For this reason God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for even their females exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature, ²⁷ and likewise also the males, having forsaken the natural use of the female, were inflamed by their lust for one another, males with males, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error. ²⁸ And just as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things which are not fitting;

¹¹ There is none who understands; there is none who seeks God.

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many powerful, not many noble, are called.

¹³ And he works great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth before men. ¹⁴ And he deceives my own people who dwell on the earth by the signs which were given to him to do before the Beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound--and came to life! -from the sword. ¹⁵ And it was granted to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, that they should receive marks on their right hand, or on their foreheads,

¹³ These have one purpose, and they will give their power and authority to the Beast.

¹⁷ For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the Beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

⁹ So the scribes were called in the first month, which is Nisan, on the twenty-third day of the same year. And orders were written concerning the Jews, whatever the king had commanded to the local governors and chiefs of the satraps, from India even to Ethiopia, a hundred and twenty-seven satraps, according to the several provinces, according to their dialects.

¹³ A foolish and bold woman, who knows not modesty, comes to want a morsel. ¹⁴ She sits at the doors of her house, on a seat openly in the streets, ¹⁵ calling to passers by, and to those that are going right on their ways;

⁹ O you that brings glad tidings to Zion, go up on the high mountain; lift up your voice with strength, you that brings glad tidings to Jerusalem; lift it up, fear not; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

¹ Cry aloud, and spare not; lift up your voice as with a trumpet, and declare to My people their sins, and to the house of Jacob their iniquities.

¹ King Nebuchadnezzar, to all nations, tribes, and tongues that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you.

¹⁴ Cut down the tree, and pluck off its branches, and shake off its leaves, and scatter its fruit — let the wild beasts be removed from under it, and the birds from its branches.

²⁵ Then King Darius wrote to all nations, tribes, and languages, who dwell in all the earth, saying, Peace be multiplied to you.

¹¹ Ephraim altogether prevailed against his adversary, he trod judgment under foot, for he began to go after vanities.

¹⁶ For you have kept the statues of Omri, and done all the works of the house of Ahab; and you have walked in their ways, that I might deliver you to utter destruction, and those that inhabit the city to hissing: and you shall bear the reproach of nations.

⁷ And it came to pass when the nations heard the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the nations, tribes, and languages fell down and worshipped the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree that every man who shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music,

¹⁵ Now then, if you are ready, whenever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, harmony, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the golden image which I have made, fine; but if you will not worship, in the same hour you shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand?

²⁸ And he looked towards Sodom and Gomorrah, and towards the surrounding country, and saw, and behold, a flame went up from the earth, as the smoke of a furnace.

⁵ You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,

¹⁷ And the rest he makes a graven god, and worships and prays, saying, Deliver me; for you are my god.

²² And they shall make of them a curse in all the captivity of Judah in Babylon, saying, The Lord do to you as He did to Zedekiah, and as He did to Ahab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire;

¹⁸ Son of man, behold, the house of Israel has become to Me as it were mixed with brass, and iron, and tin, and lead; they are mixed up in the midst of the silver. ¹⁹ Therefore say, Thus says the Lord God: Because you have become one mixture, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. ²⁰ As silver, brass, iron, tin, and lead are gathered into the midst of the furnace, to blow fire into it, that they may be melted: so will I take you in My wrath, and I will gather and melt you. ²¹ And I will blow upon you in the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst thereof. ²² As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in the midst thereof; and you shall know that I the Lord have poured out My wrath upon you.

⁵ The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing has departed from me: if you do not make known to me the dream and the interpretation, you shall be destroyed, and your houses shall be spoiled.

¹² Then the king in rage and anger commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. ¹³ So the decree went forth, and they began to destroy the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to destroy them.

¹¹ and shall not fall down and worship the golden image, shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace.

²¹ Then those men were bound with their coats, caps, and trousers, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace,

⁹ And he said to Him, "All these things will I give You, if You will fall down and worship me."

²⁷ And immediately the king, having sent an executioner, commanded his head to be brought. And having departed, he beheaded him in the prison,

² And he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a burning furnace. And the sun was darkened, and the air, from the smoke of the shaft.

¹⁵ And it was granted to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. ¹⁶ And he causes all, small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, that they should receive marks on their right hand, or on their foreheads, ¹⁷ and that no one may buy or sell except he that has the mark, the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

¹¹ And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, those who worship the Beast and his image, and anyone who receives the mark of his name."

⁷ Babylon has been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, causing all the earth to be drunken. The nations have drunk of her wine; therefore they were shaken.

¹⁶ who in the generations having gone by permitted all the Gentiles to walk in their ways.

¹⁹ We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the evil one.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

³ And one of his heads was as if it had been slain to death, and his wound of death was healed. And the whole world marveled after the Beast.

⁸ And all those who dwell on the earth shall worship him, whose name is not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹⁴ And he deceives my own people who dwell on the earth by the signs which were given to him to do before the Beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound--and came to life! -from the sword.

⁸ The Beast which you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth shall marvel, whose name is not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the Beast that was, and is not, and shall be present.

²⁰ Then the Beast was apprehended, and with him the False Prophet who had performed the signs before him, by which he had deceived those who received the mark of the Beast and those who worshipped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

¹² Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up to us from you, have come to Jerusalem, the rebellious and wicked city which they are building, and its walls are set in order, and they have established the foundations of it. ¹³ Now then let it be known to the king, that if that city be built up, and its walls completed, you shall have no tribute, neither will they pay any tribute, and this injures kings. ¹⁴ And it is not lawful for us to see the dishonor of the king. Therefore have we sent and made known the matter to the king, ¹⁵ that examination may be made in your fathers' book of record. And you shall find, and you shall know that this city is rebellious, and does harm to kings and countries, and there are in the midst of it from very old time refuges for runaway slaves. Therefore this city has been made desolate. ¹⁶ We therefore declare to the king, that if this city is rebuilt, and its walls are set up, you shall have no peace.

⁶ and took counsel to utterly destroy all the Jews who were under the rule of Artaxerxes.

⁸ And he spoke to King Artaxerxes, saying, There is a nation scattered among the nations in all your kingdom, and their laws differ from those of all the other nations; and they disobey the laws of the king. Therefore it is not fitting for the king to let them alone. ⁹ If it seems good to the king, let him make a decree to destroy them, and I will remit into the king's treasury ten thousand talents of silver.

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is no man upon the earth, who shall be able to make known the king's matter: forasmuch as no great king or ruler asks such a question of an enchanter, magician, or Chaldean.

¹² And they came and said to the king, O king, have you not made a decree, that if any man shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except for you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? And the king said, The word is true, and the decree of the Medes and Persians shall not pass. ¹³ Then they answered and said before the king, Daniel of the sons of the captivity of Judah, has not submitted to your decree; and three times in the day he makes his requests of his God.

²⁰ And bringing them to the magistrates they said, "These men, being Jews, are agitating our city; ²¹ and they are proclaiming customs which are not lawful for us to receive or to do, since we are Romans." ²² And the crowd rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore their clothes and ordered men to beat them with rods.

⁶ But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brothers to the rulers of the city, crying out, "The men who have upset the whole world, these have come here, too; ⁷ whom Jason has received; and these all practice contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king--Jesus." ⁸ And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things.

²² But we request to hear from you the things which you think; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against."

³ For we have spent enough of our past lifetime to accomplish the will of the Gentiles--having walked in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. ⁴ In regard to these, they are surprised that you do not run with them in the same flood of debauchery, reviling you.

⁴ And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in the Syrian language, saying, O king, live forever: tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.

⁴ Then a herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, you peoples, tribes, and languages, ⁵ at what hour you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and every kind of music, you shall fall down and worship the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar has set up.

¹⁰ Then the queen came into the banquet house, and said, O king, live forever. Let not your thoughts trouble you, and let not your countenance be changed.

⁶ Then the governors and satraps stood by the king, and said to him, King Darius, live forever!

²¹ And Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever!

⁷ Render therefore to all their dues: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

¹⁶ And he said, When you do the duties of midwife to the Hebrew women, and they are about to be delivered, if it be a male, kill it; but if a female, save it.

²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Whatever male child shall be born to the Hebrews, cast into the river; and every female, save it alive.

²⁰ Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, having taken a timbrel in her hand, then there went forth all the women after her with timbrels and dances. ²¹ And Miriam led them, saying, Let us sing to the Lord, for He has been very greatly glorified: the horse and rider has He cast into the sea.

¹⁸ And Moses said, It is not the voice of them that begin the battle, nor the voice of them that begin the cry of defeat, but the voice of them that begin the banquet of wine that I hear. ¹⁹ And when he drew near to the camp, he saw the calf and the dances; and Moses, being very angry, cast the two tablets out of his hands and broke them to pieces under the mountain.

¹⁶ And David said to the chiefs of the Levites, Set your brethren the singers with musical instruments, lutes, harps, and cymbals, to sound aloud with a voice of joy.

²⁸ And all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of a horn, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, playing loudly on lutes and harps.

⁵ Asaph was the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom; and Jeiel sounded with musical instruments, lutes and harps, and Asaph with cymbals. ⁶ And Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests sounded continually with trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God in that day.

¹ And King David and the captains of the army appointed to their services the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, lutes, and cymbals; and their number was according to their polls serving in their ministrations. ² The sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah; the sons of Asaph were next to the king. ³ To Jeduthun were reckoned the sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six after their father Jeduthun, sounding loudly on the harp thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. ⁴ To Heman were reckoned the sons of Heman, Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's chief player in the praises of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons, and three daughters. ⁶ All these sang hymns with their father in the house of God, with cymbals, lutes, and harps, for the service of the house of God, near the king, and Asaph, and Jeduthun, and Heman.

²⁵ And he stationed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, and lutes, and harps, according to the commandment of King David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet; for by the commandment of the Lord the order was in the hand of the prophets.

¹² So the king's recorders were called in the first month, on the thirteenth day, and they wrote as Haman commanded to the captains and governors in every province, from India even to Ethiopia, to a hundred and twenty-seven provinces, and to the rulers of the nations according to their many languages, in the name of King Artaxerxes. ¹³ And the message was sent by posts throughout the kingdom of Artaxerxes, to utterly destroy the race of the Jews on the first day of the twelfth month, which is Adar, and to plunder their goods. And the following is the copy of the letter: The great King Artaxerxes writes thus to the rulers and inferior governors of a hundred and twenty-seven provinces, from India even to Ethiopia, who hold authority under him. Ruling over many nations, and having obtained dominion over the whole world, I was minded, (not elated by the confidence of power but ever conducting myself with great moderation and with gentleness) to make the lives of my subjects continually tranquil, desiring both to maintain the kingdom quite and orderly to its utmost limits, and to restore the peace desired by all men. But when I had inquired of my counselors how this should be brought to pass, Haman, who excels in sound judgment among us, and has been manifestly well inclined without wavering and with unshaken fidelity, and has obtained the second post in the kingdom, informed us that a certain ill-disposed people is mixed up with all the tribes throughout the world, opposed in their laws to every other nation, and continually neglecting the commands of the kings, so that the united government blamelessly administered by us is not quietly established. Having then conceived that this nation alone of all others is continually set in opposition to every man, introducing as a change a foreign code of laws, and injuriously plotting to accomplish the worst of evils against our interests, and against the happy establishment of the monarchy; we have accordingly appointed those who are signified to you in the letters written by Haman, who is set over the public affairs and is our second governor, to utterly destroy them all with their wives and children by the swords of the enemies, without pitying or sparing any, on the fourteenth day of the twelfth month (which is Adar) of the present year; that the people aforetime and now ill-disposed to us having been violently consigned to death in one day, may hereafter secure to us continually a well- constituted and quiet state of affairs. ¹⁴ And the copies of the letters were published in every province; and an order was given to all the nations to be ready against that day.

¹ For the end, A Psalm for Asaph, concerning the winepresses. Rejoice in God our helper; shout aloud to the God of Jacob. ² Take a psalm, and produce the timbrel, the pleasant psaltery with the harp. ³ Blow the trumpet at the new moon, in the glorious day of your feast.

¹ A Psalm of a Song for the Sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; ² to proclaim Your mercy in the morning, and Your truth by night, ³ on a psaltery of ten strings, with a song on the harp.

²⁰ Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You, which frames mischief by an ordinance?

³ Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sings praises to Him with timbrel and psaltery. ⁴ For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; and will exalt the meek with salvation.

³ Praise Him with the sound of a trumpet; praise Him with psaltery and harp. ⁴ Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and the organ. ⁵ Praise Him with melodious cymbals; praise Him with loud cymbals. ⁶ Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

⁴ Wrath is merciless and anger sharp, but envy can bear nothing.

⁴ And I saw all labor, and all the diligent work, that this is a man's envy from his neighbor. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

⁴⁹ And Daniel asked of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel was in the king's palace.

¹³ Then they answered and said before the king, Daniel of the sons of the captivity of Judah, has not submitted to your decree; and three times in the day he makes his requests of his God.

²⁸ saying, "Did we not give you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you want to bring on us the blood of this Man!"

⁷ whom Jason has received; and these all practice contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king--Jesus."

⁵ but Cain and his sacrifices He regarded not, and Cain was exceedingly sorrowful and his countenance fell.

³⁰ And Saul was exceedingly angry with Jonathan, and said to him, You son of a traitorous woman! For do I not know that you are an accomplice with the son of Jesse to yourself, and to the shame of your mother's nakedness? ³¹ For as long as the son of Jesse lives upon the earth, your kingdom shall not be established: now then send and take the young man, for he shall surely die! ³² And Jonathan answered Saul, Why is he to die? What has he done? ³³ And Saul lifted up his spear against Jonathan to kill him, so Jonathan knew that this evil was determined on by his father to kill David.

⁵ And when Haman understood that Mordecai did not bow down to him, he was greatly enraged, ⁶ and took counsel to utterly destroy all the Jews who were under the rule of Artaxerxes.

¹² Care may befall a man of understanding, but fools will meditate evils.

³ A stone is heavy and sand cumbersome, but a fool's wrath is heavier than both.

²² A furious man stirs up strife, and a passionate man digs up sin.

¹² Then the king in rage and anger commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and the form of his countenance was changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And he gave orders to heat the furnace seven times more than usual, until it should burn to the uttermost.

¹⁸ And you will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the nations.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be flogged in the synagogues. You will stand before rulers and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.

¹¹ But they were filled with fury, and they were discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.

¹² But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and they will persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers on account of My name.

²⁵ So one came and reported to them, saying, "Behold, the men whom you put in jail are standing in the temple and teaching the people!" ²⁶ Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they were afraid of the people, lest they be stoned. ²⁷ And they brought them, and set them before the council. And the high priest asked them,

²⁴ Now after some days, when Felix arrived with Drusilla his wife, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.

¹³ But as for him that did it not willingly, but God delivered him into his hands, I will give you a place where the slayer may flee to. ¹⁴ And if anyone lie in wait for his neighbor to slay him by craft, and he go for refuge, you shall take him from My altar to put him to death.

¹ Bel has fallen, Nebo is broken to pieces, their graven images have gone to the wild beasts and the cattle; you take them packed up as a burden to the weary, exhausted, hungry, and at the same time helpless man;

² Proclaim among the Gentiles, and cause the tidings to be heard, and suppress them not. Say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded; the fearless, the luxurious Merodach is delivered up.

¹ In the eighteenth year Nebuchadnezzar the king made a golden image, its height was sixty cubits, and its breadth was six cubits. And he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

⁸ until Daniel came, whose name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, who has within him the Holy Spirit of God, to whom I said,

² And Pharaoh said, Who is He that I should listen to His voice, so that I should send away the children of Israel? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.

³² And now if You will forgive their sin, forgive; and if not, blot me out of Your book, which You have written.

³⁵ Who is there among all the gods of the countries, who have delivered their countries out of my hand, that the Lord should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

¹⁵ Now then, let not Hezekiah deceive you, and let him not make you thus confident, and believe him not, for no god of any kingdom or nation is at all able to deliver his people out of my hand, or the hand of my fathers; therefore your God shall not deliver you out of my hand. ¹⁶ And his servants continued to speak against the Lord God, and against His servant Hezekiah. ¹⁷ And he wrote a letter to reproach the Lord God of Israel, and spoke concerning Him, saying, As the gods of the nations of the earth have not delivered their people out of my hand, so the God of Hezekiah shall by no means deliver His people out of my hand.

¹⁸ Let not Hezekiah deceive you, saying, God will deliver you. Have the gods of the nations delivered each one his own land out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians? ¹⁹ Where is the god of Hamath, and Arpad? And where is the god of Sepharvaim? Have they been able to deliver Samaria out of my hand? ²⁰ Which is the god of all these nations that has delivered his land out of my hand, that God should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

²³ Whom have you reproached and provoked? And against whom have you lifted up your voice? And have you not lifted up your eyes on high against the Holy One of Israel?

⁵ at what hour you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and every kind of music, you shall fall down and worship the golden image which King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. ⁶ And whosoever shall not fall down and worship, in the same hour he shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace.

¹⁷ For our God whom we serve is in the heavens, able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He shall rescue us from your hands, O king.

²⁸ And King Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants, because they trusted in Him; and they have changed the king's word, and delivered their bodies to be burned, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. ²⁹ Therefore I publish a decree: Every people, tribe, or language that shall speak reproachfully against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be destroyed, and their houses shall be plundered, because there is no other God who shall be able to deliver thus.

¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. But the king said to Daniel, Your God, whom you serve continually, He shall deliver you.

²⁰ And when he drew near to the den, he cried out with a loud voice, Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lion's mouth?

¹⁹ But whenever they hand you over, do not worry how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak;

⁴³ He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He'll have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

¹¹ But whenever they lead you forth to deliver you over, do not worry beforehand as to what you will say, nor rack your brains. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak this; for it is not you who is speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

⁷ Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours." ⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! It is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "

¹¹ Now whenever they bring you to the synagogues and rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say.

⁹ And if it produces fruit, fine. But if not, in the coming year, you can cut it down.' "

¹⁴ Put it then in your hearts not to practice beforehand giving your defense; ¹⁵ for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict nor to withstand.

⁸ Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: ⁹ If we today are being judged for a good work to a weak man, by what means he has been made well, ¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name this man stands here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the 'stone which was rejected by you, the builders, which became the chief cornerstone.' ¹² Nor is there salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven which has been given among men by which we must be saved."

¹⁹ But Peter and John answered them and said, "Whether it is right before God to hear you rather than God, you judge.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, and said: "We must obey God rather than men.

¹⁵ And looking intently at him, all those who sat in the council saw his face like the face of an angel.

¹⁰ But Paul answered, the governor had nodded for him to speak: "Knowing that you have been a judge of this nation for many years, the more cheerfully I defend the things concerning myself, ¹¹ because you being able to know that it has not been more than twelve days since I went up to worship in Jerusalem. ¹² And they did not find me with anyone in the temple disputing, or inciting a crowd to rise up, neither in the synagogues nor in the city. ¹³ Nor are they able to prove against me the things about which they are now accusing me.

⁷ And the chief of the eunuchs gave them names: to Daniel, Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.

¹² There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon--Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who have not obeyed your decree, O king: they serve not your gods, and worship not the golden image which you have set up.

¹ When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, I am your God, be well-pleasing before Me, and be blameless.

¹⁴ Shall anything be impossible with the Lord? At the appointed time I shall return to you, and Sarah shall have a son.

³⁷ The Lord who delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this uncircumcised Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and the Lord shall be with you.

⁴⁶ And the Lord shall deliver you this day into my hand, and I will kill you, and take away your head from off of you, and I will give your limbs and the limbs of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky, and to the wild beasts of the earth; and all the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel.

¹⁹ Six times He shall deliver you out of distresses, and in the seventh, harm shall not touch you.

²⁹ And He will give quiet, and who will condemn? And He will hide His face, and who shall see Him? Whether it be done against a nation, or against a man, also:

¹⁰ And He rode upon a cherub and flew; He flew on the wings of the wind. ¹¹ And He made darkness His secret place; round about Him was His tabernacle, even dark water in the clouds of the air.

¹ A Psalm of David, before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my Savior; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defender of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When evildoers drew near against me to eat up my flesh, my persecutors and my enemies, they fainted and fell.

¹ For the end, A Psalm of David to Jeduthun. Shall not my soul be subjected to God? For from Him is my salvation. ² For He is my God, and my savior; my helper, I shall not be greatly moved. ³ How long will you assault a man? You are all slaughtering as with a bowed wall and a broken hedge. ⁴ They only took counsel to set at nought my honor. I ran in thirst; with their mouth they blessed, but with their heart they cursed. Pause. ⁵ Nevertheless, my soul is subjected to God; for of Him is my patient hope. ⁶ For He is my God and my Savior; my helper, I shall not be moved.

²⁰ As the dream of one awakening, O Lord, in Your city You will despise their image.

³ But our God has done in heaven and on earth, whatsoever He has pleased.

⁵ The Lord shall keep you: the Lord is your shelter upon your right hand. ⁶ The sun shall not burn you by day, neither the moon by night. ⁷ May the Lord preserve you from all evil; the Lord shall keep your soul.

² Behold, my God is my Savior; I will trust in Him, and not be afraid; for the Lord is my glory and my praise, and has become my salvation.

³ supporting truth, and keeping peace; for on You, O Lord, ⁴ they have trusted with confidence forever, the great, eternal God;

¹⁴ And you shall be built in righteousness; abstain from injustice, and you shall not fear; and trembling shall not come near to you.

⁸ Be not afraid before them; for I am with you, to deliver you, says the Lord.

³⁵ All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and He does according to His will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and there is none who shall withstand His power, and say to Him, What have You done?

²⁰ And when he drew near to the den, he cried out with a loud voice, Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lion's mouth? ²¹ And Daniel said to the king, O king, live forever! ²² My God has sent His angel, and stopped the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: for uprightness was found in me before Him; and moreover before you, O king, I have committed no trespass.

²⁷ He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible."

²⁴ But I count myself as nothing; nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, so that I may complete my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear solemn testimony to the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, in behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus."

²⁰ And neither the sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, finally all hope for us to be saved was taken away. ²¹ Now when they had abstained from food for a long time, then stood Paul in the midst of them and said, "Men, you should have followed my advice and not put to sea from Crete, and to spare yourselves this hardship and loss. ²² And now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there will be loss of not one life among you, only of the ship. ²³ For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong, whom also I serve, ²⁴ saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul; for it is necessary for you to stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you all those sailing with you.' ²⁵ "Therefore keep up your courage, men; for I believe God that it will be in the very manner it has been spoken to me.

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

²⁵ Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those coming to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

³ You shall have no other gods beside Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. ⁵ You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,

⁴ You shall not follow idols, and you shall not make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God.

¹⁵ But if it seem not good to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods of your fathers that were on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites, among whom you dwell upon their land. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, for He is holy.

¹⁵ Though the Mighty One should lay His hand upon me, forasmuch as He has begun, verily I will speak, and plead before Him.

¹ The ungodly man flees when no one pursues, but the righteous is confident as a lion.

¹² I, even I, am He that comforts you; consider who you are, that you were afraid of mortal man, and of the son of man, who have withered as grass. ¹³ And you have forgotten God who made you, who made the sky and founded the earth; and you were continually afraid because of the wrath of him that afflicted you; for whereas he counseled to take you away, yet now where is the wrath of him that afflicted you?

²⁸ And King Nebuchadnezzar answered and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who has sent His angel, and delivered His servants, because they trusted in Him; and they have changed the king's word, and delivered their bodies to be burned, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both the soul and the body in hell.

³² "Therefore whoever who will confess Me before men, I also will confess Him before My Father who is in heaven. ³³ But whoever denies Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

³⁹ He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

² He answered and said to them, "When evening comes you say, 'Fine weather, for the sky is red'.

³ Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in behind closed doors shall be proclaimed on the housetops. ⁴ "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing further they can do. ⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: fear Him who after He kills, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! ⁶ Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. ⁷ But the very hairs of your head have all been numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. ⁸ "Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. ⁹ But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name this man stands here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the 'stone which was rejected by you, the builders, which became the chief cornerstone.' ¹² Nor is there salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven which has been given among men by which we must be saved." ¹³ Now when they observed the boldness of Peter and John, and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, and said: "We must obey God rather than men. ³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you murdered by hanging upon a cross. ³¹ Him God has exalted to His right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. ³² And we are His witnesses of these words, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you are about to suffer. Behold indeed, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. ¹¹ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall in no way be harmed by the second death." '

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

⁵ but Cain and his sacrifices He regarded not, and Cain was exceedingly sorrowful and his countenance fell. ⁶ And the Lord God said to Cain, Why are you downcast, and why has your countenance fallen?

² And Jacob saw the countenance of Laban, and behold it was not favorable toward him as before.

⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I will satisfy my soul, I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion. ¹⁰ You sent forth Your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water.

¹⁸ And if you still refuse to hearken to Me, then will I chasten you yet more, even seven times for your sins.

²¹ And if after this you should walk perversely, and not be willing to obey Me, I will further bring upon you seven plagues according to your sins.

²⁴ I also will walk with you with a perverse spirit, and I also will smite you seven times for your sins.

²⁸ then will I walk contrary to you in fury, and I will chasten you seven-fold according to your sins.

³³ And he piled the cleft wood on the altar which he had made, and divided the whole burnt offering, and laid it on the wood, and laid it in order on the altar, and said, Fetch me four pitchers of water, and pour it on the whole burnt offering, and on the wood. And they did so. ³⁴ And he said, Do it a second time. And they did it a second time. And he said, Do it a third time. And they did it a third time. ³⁵ And the water ran round about the altar, and they filled the trench with water.

¹⁰ And the son of Hadad sent to him, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for foxes to all the people, even my infantry. ¹¹ And the king of Israel answered and said, Let it be sufficient; let not the humpbacked boast as he that is upright.

²⁷ But I know your sitting down and your going forth, and your rage against Me. ²⁸ Because you were angry against Me, and your fierceness has come up into My ears, therefore will I put My hooks in your nostrils, and My bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way in which you came.

⁷ And the king rose up from the banquet to go into the garden. And Haman began to plead with the queen; for he saw that he was in an evil case.

¹⁰ For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to You, and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to You.

¹⁴ The anger of a king is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify him.

²⁴ A bold and self-willed and insolent man is called a pest, and he that remembers injuries is a transgressor.

³ A stone is heavy and sand cumbersome, but a fool's wrath is heavier than both. ⁴ Wrath is merciless and anger sharp, but envy can bear nothing.

²³ And I will give it into the hands of them that injured you, and them that afflicted you; who said to your soul, Bow down, that we may pass over; and you laid your body to the ground to them passing by outside.

¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar, in wrath and anger, commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. And they were brought before the king.

⁶ Then the king's countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, and the joints of his hips were loosed, and his knees knocked one another.

²⁴ And the king commanded, and they brought the men that had accused Daniel, and they were cast into the den of lions, they, their children, and their wives. And they did not reach the bottom of the den before the lions overpowered them, and utterly broke to pieces all their bones.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that that deceiver said while He was still alive, 'After three days I will rise.' ⁶⁴ "Therefore command that the grave be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him, and say to the people, 'He was raised from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first." ⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go make it as secure as you know how." ⁶⁶ So they went and secured the grave, sealing the stone, with the guard.

⁴ "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing further they can do. ⁵ But I will show you whom you should fear: fear Him who after He kills, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

³³ But when they heard this, they were infuriated and were resolving to kill them.

⁵⁴ Now hearing these things they were infuriated in their hearts, and were gnashing their teeth against him.

⁴ whom also seizing, he put him in prison, and handed him over to four four-man squads of soldiers to guard him, planning after the Passover to bring him again to the people. ⁵ Therefore Peter was kept in prison; but earnest prayer was being made by the church to God on behalf of him.

²³ And when they laid many strokes on them, they cast them into prison, commanding the prison keeper to keep them securely;

²⁵ Now about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

³³ And the Egyptians constrained the people, so that they cast them out of the land with haste, for they said, We all shall die.

⁸ A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.

¹⁸ and a transgressor is the abomination of a righteous man.

¹⁵ Chief magistrate of the king, why has this shameless command proceeded from the king? So Arioch made known the matter to Daniel.

² Behold, I will make Jerusalem as trembling door posts to all the nations round about, and in Judea there shall be a siege against Jerusalem. ³ And it shall come to pass in that day that I will make Jerusalem a trodden stone to all the nations; everyone that tramples on it shall utterly mock at it, and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.

⁵ And throwing the silver coins in the sanctuary, he departed; and going away, he hanged himself.

¹⁹ And Herod, seeking for him and not finding him, he examined the guards, and commanded that they be executed. And going down from Judea to Caesarea, he was spending time there.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but out of them all the Lord shall deliver them.

¹¹ You have brought us into the snare; You have laid afflictions on our back. ¹² You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through the fire and water; but You brought us out into a place of refreshment.

¹ A Song of Degrees. If it had not been that the Lord was among us, let Israel now say; ² if it had not been that the Lord was among us, when men rose up against us; ³ verily they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us: ⁴ verily the water would have drowned us, our soul would have gone under the torrent. ⁵ Yea, our soul would have gone under the overwhelming water.

⁶ And they cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king's son, which was in the court of the prison; and they let him down into the pit: and there was no water in the pit, but mire. And he was in the mire.

⁵² ( { φ}) TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow; all my enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause, ⁵³ and laid a stone upon me. ⁵⁴ Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.

¹⁶ Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. But the king said to Daniel, Your God, whom you serve continually, He shall deliver you. ¹⁷ And they brought a stone, and put it on the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his ring, and with the ring of his nobles; that the case might not be altered with regard to Daniel.

⁸ For we do not desire you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life. ⁹ Yes, we have had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, ¹⁰ who delivered us from so great a death, and is delivering us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

¹⁷ For our momentary light affliction is working out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised by the fiery trial among you, taking place to test you, as though some strange thing was happening to you; ¹³ but inasmuch as you partake in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, in order that also at the unveiling of His glory, you may rejoice with great happiness.

² And he sent forth to gather the governors, and the captains, and the heads of provinces, chiefs, and princes, and those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, to come to the dedication of the image. ³ So the heads of provinces, the governors, the captains, the chiefs, the great princes, those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, were gathered to the dedication of the image which King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they stood before the image.

⁹ O king, live forever! ¹⁰ You, O king, have made a decree that every man who shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music,

²² is you, O king; for you have grown great and powerful, and your greatness has increased and reached to the heavens, and your dominion to the ends of the earth.

²⁷ Therefore, O king, let my counsel please you, and atone for your sins by alms, and your iniquities by compassion on the poor; perhaps God will be longsuffering toward your trespasses.

¹⁸ O king, the Most High God gave to your father Nebuchadnezzar a kingdom, and majesty, and honor, and glory.

²² My God has sent His angel, and stopped the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: for uprightness was found in me before Him; and moreover before you, O king, I have committed no trespass.

²³ saying, "Indeed we found the prison shut in all security, and the guards standing before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!" ²⁴ Now when they heard these words, both the high priest and the captain of the temple, and the chief priests, they were greatly perplexed about them, as to what would come of this. ²⁵ So one came and reported to them, saying, "Behold, the men whom you put in jail are standing in the temple and teaching the people!"

⁶ "But stand up and enter into the city, and it will be spoken to you what you must do."

¹³ And when Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a servant girl came to answer, named Rhoda.

¹³ at midday, O king, along the road I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those traveling with me.

²⁷ "Do you believe the prophets, King Agrippa? I know that you believe."

⁶ And it came to pass one day, that behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them.

⁷ When the stars were made, all My angels praised Me with a loud voice.

⁷ The angel of the Lord will encamp round about them that fear Him, and will deliver them.

³ For He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, from every troublesome matter. ⁴ He shall overshadow you with His shoulders, and You shall trust under His wings; His truth shall cover you with a shield. ⁵ You shall not be afraid of terror by night; nor of the arrow flying by day; ⁶ nor of the evil thing that walks in darkness; nor of calamity, and the evil spirit at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. ⁸ Only with your eyes shall you observe and see the reward of sinners. ⁹ For You, O Lord, are my hope; You, my soul, have made the Most High your refuge.

⁴ Who has gone up to heaven, and come down? Who has gathered the winds in His bosom? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has dominion of all the ends of the earth? What is His name? Or what is the name of His children?

² And if you pass through water, I am with you; and the rivers shall not overflow you; and if you go through the fire, you shall not be burned; the flame shall not burn you.

¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, neither will we worship the image which you have set up.

¹⁸ they shall pick up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it shall by no means hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall be well."

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy Baby which is to be born shall be called the Son of God.

⁷ The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God." ⁸ Therefore, when Pilate heard this saying, he was even more afraid,

⁵ Then, having shaken off the creature into the fire, he suffered nothing harmful.

⁴ who was declared Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

¹³ And who is he that shall injure you if you become imitators of that which is good?

¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth loaves and wine, and he was the priest of the Most High God.

¹⁷ And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood on dry land in the midst of the Jordan; and all the children of Israel went through on dry land, until all the people had completely gone over the Jordan.

¹⁰ And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood in the Jordan, until Joshua had finished all that the Lord commanded him to report to the people; and the people hurried and passed over.

¹⁶ Command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant of the testimony of the Lord, to go up out of the Jordan. ¹⁷ And Joshua charged the priests, saying, Come up from the Jordan. ¹⁸ And it came to pass when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord had come up from the midst of the Jordan, and set their feet upon the land, that the water of the Jordan returned impetuously to its place, and went as before over all its banks.

¹¹ And they answered us thus, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are building the house which had been built many years before this, and a great king of Israel built it, and established it for them.

¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord, even the Lord, Behold, I lay for the foundations of Zion a costly stone, a choice cornerstone and precious, for its foundations; and he that believes on Him shall by no means be ashamed.

¹² For you shall not go forth with haste, neither go by flight; for the Lord shall go first in advance of you; and the God of Israel shall be the One that brings up your rear.

⁴⁷ And the king answered and said to Daniel, Truly your God is a God of gods, and Lord of kings, who reveals mysteries; for you have been able to reveal this mystery.

² It seemed good to me to declare to you the signs and wonders which the Most High God has worked for me,

¹⁷ This girl, following after Paul and us, was crying out, saying, "These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation."

³⁷ But Paul said to them, "They beat us publicly, although we were uncondemned Romans, and they cast us into prison, and now do they cast us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and lead us out."

²³ For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong, whom also I serve,

¹⁰ For do I just now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

⁵ Then a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!"

⁴⁶ And the Lord shall deliver you this day into my hand, and I will kill you, and take away your head from off of you, and I will give your limbs and the limbs of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky, and to the wild beasts of the earth; and all the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel. ⁴⁷ And all this assembly shall know that the Lord delivers not by sword or spear, for the battle is the Lord's, and the Lord will deliver you into our hands.

¹⁹ And now, O Lord our God, deliver us out of his hand, and all the kingdoms of the earth shall know that You alone are the Lord God.

¹⁸ And let them know that Your name is Lord; that You alone are Most High over all the earth.

⁷ Bring to the Lord, you families of the Gentiles, bring to the Lord glory and honor. ⁸ Bring to the Lord the glory due His name; take offerings, and go into His courts. ⁹ Worship the Lord in His holy court; let all the earth tremble before Him.

¹¹ O Lord, Your arm is exalted, yet they knew it not; but when they know they shall be ashamed; jealously shall seize upon an untaught nation, and now fire shall devour the adversaries.

³⁰ But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

¹⁷ And you will be hated by all people for My name's sake. ¹⁸ But not a hair of your head shall by any means perish.

⁶ And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because they were hearing each one speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed and were marveling, saying to one another, "Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? ⁸ And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ¹⁰ Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya toward Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues the mighty deeds of God." ¹² So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What might this mean?"

²⁶ For the king knows about these things, to whom also I speak freely; for I am persuaded that none of these things escapes his notice, since this thing was not done in a corner.

³⁴ Therefore I urge you to take food, for this is for your deliverance; for not a hair from your head shall fall."

³⁴ quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became mighty in battle, turned to flight the armies of foreigners.

²⁶ And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant.

¹⁵ But when it was morning, the angels urged Lot, saying, Arise and take your wife, and your two daughters whom you have, and go forth; lest you also be destroyed with the iniquities of the city. ¹⁶ And they were troubled, and the angels laid hold on his hand, and the hand of his wife, and the hands of his two daughters, in that the Lord spared him.

²⁰ and they prevailed against them; and the Hagrites were given into their hands, they and all their tents, for they cried to God in the battle, and He hearkened to them, because they trusted on Him.

²⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went out to the Wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and cried, and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; put your trust in the Lord God, and your trust shall be honored; trust in His prophet, and you shall prosper.

²¹ And the Lord sent an angel, and He destroyed every mighty man and warrior, and leader and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria; and he returned with shame of face to his own land and came into the house of his god. And some of his own offspring killed him with the sword.

³ Who is there among you of all His people? For his God shall be with him, and he shall go up to Jerusalem that is in Judea, and let him build the house of the God of Israel: He is the God that is in Jerusalem.

¹¹ And a decree has been made by me, that every man who shall alter this word, timber shall be pulled down from his house, and let him be lifted up and slain upon it, and his house shall be confiscated.

²³ Let whatever is in the decree of the God of heaven be done. Take heed lest anyone make an attack against the house of the God of heaven, lest at any time there shall be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons. ²⁴ Also this has been declared to you, with respect to all the priests, and Levites, the singers, porters, Nethinim and ministers of the house of God, let no tribute be paid to you; you shall not have power to oppress them. ²⁵ And you, Ezra, as the wisdom of God is in your hand, appoint scribes and judges, that they may judge for all the people beyond the river, all that know the law of the Lord your God; and you shall make it known to him that knows not. ²⁶ And whosoever shall not do the law of God, and the law of the king readily, judgment shall be taken upon him, whether for death or for chastisement, or for a fine of his property, or casting into prison. ²⁷ Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who has put it thus into the heart of the king, to glorify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem; ²⁸ and has given me favor in the eyes of the king, and of his counselors, and all the rulers of the king, the exalted ones. And I was strengthened according to the good hand of God upon me, and I gathered chief men of Israel to go up with me.

⁴ Our fathers hoped in You; they hoped, and You delivered them. ⁵ They cried to You, and were saved; they hoped in You, and were not ashamed.

¹⁸ Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear Him, those that hope in His mercy;

²¹ For our heart shall rejoice in Him, and we have hoped in His holy name.

⁷ The angel of the Lord will encamp round about them that fear Him, and will deliver them. ⁸ Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who hopes in Him.

²² The Lord will redeem the souls of His servants; and none of those that hope in Him shall go wrong.

⁸ Hope in Him, all you congregation of the people; pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our helper. Pause.

¹¹ For the Lord loves mercy and truth; God will give grace and glory; the Lord will not withhold good things from them that walk in innocence. ¹² O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusts in You!

²⁰ Bless the Lord, all you His angels, mighty in strength, who do His bidding, ready to hearken to the voice of His words.

⁵ Blessed is he whose helper is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God: ⁶ who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things in them; who keeps truth forever;

¹¹ The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear Him, and in all that hope in His mercy.

³⁶ And the angel of the Lord went forth, and killed out of the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand; and they arose in the morning and found all these bodies dead.

⁷ But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. ⁸ And he shall be as a thriving tree by the waters, and he shall cast forth his root toward a moist place. He shall not fear when heat comes, and there shall be shady branches upon him; he shall not fear in a year of drought, and he shall not fail to bear fruit.

¹⁵ Now then, if you are ready, whenever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, harp, sackbut, psaltery, harmony, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the golden image which I have made, fine; but if you will not worship, in the same hour you shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand? ¹⁶ Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego answered and said to King Nebuchadnezzar, We have no need to answer you concerning this matter. ¹⁷ For our God whom we serve is in the heavens, able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He shall rescue us from your hands, O king. ¹⁸ But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, neither will we worship the image which you have set up.

²⁵ And the king said, But I see four men loose, and walking in the midst of the fire, and there has no harm happened to them; and the appearance of the fourth is like the Son of God.

³⁴ And at the end of the time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised Him that lives forever, and gave Him glory; for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom lasts to all generations.

²² My God has sent His angel, and stopped the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me: for uprightness was found in me before Him; and moreover before you, O king, I have committed no trespass. ²³ Then the king was very glad for him, and he commanded to bring Daniel out of the den. So Daniel was brought out of the den, and there was found no hurt upon him, because he believed in his God.

²⁶ This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living and eternal God, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed, and His dominion is forever.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him alone you shall serve.' "

¹⁹ But an angel of the Lord during the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, and said,

⁷ And behold, an angel of the Lord stood there, and a light shined in the prison room; and striking the side of Peter, he roused him saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell away from his hands. ⁸ And the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and put on your sandals"; and he did so. And he said to him, "Put on your cloak and follow me." ⁹ And going out, he was following him, and did not know that the thing taking place by the angel was true, but he was thinking that he was seeing a vision. ¹⁰ And going though the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate which leads into the city, which was opened to them of its own accord; and going out, they went forward one street, and immediately the angel withdrew from him. ¹¹ And Peter, having come to himself, said, "Now I know truly that the Lord has sent forth His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jews."

¹ Therefore, brothers, I exhort you through the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your intelligent service.

⁷ For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. ⁸ For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live, or whether we die, we are the Lord's.

¹² so that we should be to the praise of His glory, we who first trusted in Christ; ¹³ in whom also you, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I will be ashamed, but with utmost boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits being sent out to minister for the sake of those who are about to inherit salvation?

³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tried, they were slain, being murdered with the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, being in want, being afflicted, being ill treated,

²¹ who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

³¹ For their gods are not as our God, but our enemies are void of understanding.

⁸ Deliverance is the Lord's, and Your blessing is upon Your people.

²⁶ This decree has been set forth by me in every dominion of my kingdom, that men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for He is the living and eternal God, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed, and His dominion is forever. ²⁷ He helps and delivers, and works signs and wonders in the heaven and on the earth, who has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.

³⁰ Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel: I said, Your house and the house of your father shall pass before Me forever: but now the Lord says, Far be it from Me; for I will only honor them that honor Me, and he that despises Me shall be despised.

³ And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.

¹⁴ For he has hoped in Me, and I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he has known My name.

²⁶ And if anyone serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall be also. If anyone serve Me, him My Father will honor.
