¹ And the Lord spoke all these words, saying: ² I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. ³ You shall have no other gods beside Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. ⁵ You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me, ⁶ and bestowing mercy on them that love Me, to the thousands of them, and on them that keep My commandments. ⁷ You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord your God will not acquit him that takes His name in vain. ⁸ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹ Six days you shall labor, and do all your work. ¹⁰ But on the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God; on it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your servant nor your maidservant, your ox, nor your donkey, nor any cattle of yours, nor the stranger that sojourns with you. ¹¹ For in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and the sea and all things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it. ¹² Honor your father and your mother, that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the good land, which the Lord your God gives to you. ¹³ You shall not kill. ¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁵ You shall not steal. ¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. ¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's wife; you shall not covet your neighbor's house; nor his field, nor his servant, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor any of his cattle, nor whatever belongs to your neighbor. ¹⁸ And all the people perceived the thundering, and the flashes, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and all the people feared and stood afar off, ¹⁹ and said to Moses, You speak to us, but let not God speak to us, lest we die. ²⁰ And Moses said to them, Be of good courage, for God has come to you to test you, that His fear may be among you, that you sin not. ²¹ And the people stood afar off, and Moses went into the darkness where God was. ²² And the Lord said to Moses, Thus shall you say to the house of Jacob, and you shall report it to the children of Israel, You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven. ²³ You shall not make for yourselves gods of silver, and gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves. ²⁴ You shall make to Me an altar of earth; and upon it you shall sacrifice your whole burnt offerings, and your peace offerings, and your sheep and your calves in every place, where I shall record My name; and I will come to you and bless you. ²⁵ And if you will make to Me an altar of stones, you shall not build it of hewn stones; for if you have lifted up your tool upon them, then they are defiled. ²⁶ You shall not go up to My altar by steps, that you may not uncover your nakedness upon it.

³³ if a nation has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and have lived!

³⁶ His voice was made audible from heaven to instruct you, and He showed you His great fire upon the earth, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.

⁴ The Lord spoke to you face to face in the mountain out of the midst of the fire.

²² These words the Lord spoke to all the assembly of you in the mountain out of the midst of the fire — there was darkness, blackness, a storm, and a loud voice — and He added no more, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone, and He gave them to me.

³⁸ This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who was speaking to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us,

⁵³ who have received the law as the ordinances of angels and you did not keep it."

⁷ And I will establish My covenant between you and your seed after you, to their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be your God, and the God of your seed after you. ⁸ And I will give to you and to your seed after you the land in which you sojourn, even all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession, and I will be to them a God.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Go in to Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that these signs may come upon them; in order ² that you may relate in the ears of your children, and to your children's children, in how many things I have mocked the Egyptians, and My wonders which I wrought among them; and you shall know that I am the Lord. ³ And Moses and Aaron went in before Pharaoh, and they said to him, Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: How long do you refuse to reverence Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. ⁴ But if you will not send My people away, behold, at this hour tomorrow I will bring an abundance of locusts upon all your coasts. ⁵ And they shall cover the face of the earth, and you shall not be able to see the earth; and they shall devour all that is left of the abundance of the earth, which the hail has left you, and shall devour every tree that grows for you on the land. ⁶ And your houses shall be filled, and the houses of your servants, and all the houses in all the land of the Egyptians; things which your fathers have never seen, nor their forefathers, from the day that they were upon the earth until this day. And Moses turned away and departed from Pharaoh. ⁷ And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long shall this be a snare to us? Send the men away, that they may serve their God; don't you know that Egypt is destroyed? ⁸ And they brought back both Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh; and he said to them, Go and serve the Lord your God; but who are they that are going with you? ⁹ And Moses said, We will go with the young and the old, with our sons and daughters, and our sheep and oxen; for it is a feast to the Lord. ¹⁰ And he said to them, So let the Lord be with you. As I will send you away, must I send away your little ones also? Beware, for evil is before you. ¹¹ Not so, but let the men go and serve God, for this you yourselves seek. And they cast them out from the presence of Pharaoh. ¹² And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, and let the locust come up on the land, and it shall devour every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which the hail left. ¹³ And Moses lifted up his rod towards heaven, and the Lord brought a south wind upon the earth, all that day and all that night. The morning dawned, and the south wind brought up the locusts, ¹⁴ and brought them up over all the land of Egypt. And they rested in very great abundance over all the borders of Egypt. Before them there were not such locusts, neither after them shall there be. ¹⁵ And they covered the face of the earth, and the land was wasted, and they devoured every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees, which was left by the hail: there was no green thing left on the trees, nor on all the herbs of the field, in all the land of Egypt.

³ And Moses said to the people, Remember this day in which you came forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.

³⁶ There shall be among you just balances and just weights and just liquid measure. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

⁴³ that your posterity may see, that I made the children of Israel to dwell in tents, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

¹ I am the Lord your God: you shall not make to yourselves gods made with hands, or graven images; neither shall you rear up a pillar for yourselves, neither shall you set up a stone for an object in your land to worship it: I am the Lord your God.

¹³ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, where you were slaves; and I broke the band of your yoke, and brought you forth openly.

⁶ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand, and an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day, and to sanctify it.

⁴ Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord. ⁵ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind, and with all your soul, and all your strength.

⁸ But because the Lord has loved you, and He is keeping the oath which He swore to your fathers; the Lord has brought you out with a strong hand, and the Lord has redeemed you from the house of bondage, out of the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹⁰ And they shall stone him with stones, and he shall die, because he sought to draw you away from the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁵ And you shall remember that you also were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I charge you to do this thing.

⁶ And the Egyptians afflicted us, and humbled us, and imposed hard tasks on us, ⁷ and we cried to the Lord our God, and the Lord heard our voice, and saw our humiliation, and our labor, and our affliction. ⁸ And the Lord brought us out of Egypt Himself with His great strength, and His mighty hand, and His outstretched arm, and with great visions, and with signs, and with wonders.

⁵ And the Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. And the king attacked him, and took a great multitude of prisoners captive, and carried him to Damascus. Also God delivered him into the hands of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

⁷ Hear, My people, and I will speak to you, O Israel; and I will testify to you; I am God, your God.

¹⁰ For I am the Lord your God, that brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

¹ At that time, says the Lord, I will be a God to the family of Israel, and they shall be to Me a people.

³³ For this is My covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: after those days, says the Lord, I will surely put My laws into their mind, and write them on their hearts. And I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people.

⁴ But I am the Lord your God that establishes the heavens, and creates the earth, whose hands have framed the whole host of heaven. But I showed them not to you, that you should go after them; and I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but Me; and there is no Saviour beside Me.

²⁹ Or is He the God of the Jews only? But is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, also of Gentiles,

¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all is rich to all who call upon Him.

¹¹ Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You? Glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.

²³ You shall not make for yourselves gods of silver, and gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.

⁷ You shall have no other gods before Me.

⁵ And you shall love the Lord your God with all your mind, and with all your soul, and all your strength.

¹⁴ Go not after other gods, of the gods of the nations round about you,

¹⁸ And the Lord cast out the Amorite, and all the nations that inhabited the land from before us: yea, we will serve the Lord, for He is our God. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, Indeed you will not be able to serve the Lord, for God is holy; and He being jealous will not forgive your sins and your transgressions. ²⁰ Whenever you shall forsake the Lord and serve other gods, then He shall come upon you and afflict you, and consume you, because He has done you good. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve the Lord! ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves, that you have chosen the Lord, to serve Him. ²³ And now take away the strange gods that are among you, and set your heart right toward the Lord God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, We will serve the Lord, and we will hearken to His voice.

²⁹ But the nations each made their own gods, and put them in the house of the high places which the Samaritans had made, each nation in the cities in which they dwelt. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Soccoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergel, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the inhabitants of Sepharvaim did evil when they burned their sons in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² And they feared the Lord, yet they established their abominations in the houses of the high places which they made in Samaria, each nation in the city in which they dwelt. And they feared the Lord, and they made for themselves priests of the high places, and sacrificed for themselves in the house of the high places. ³³ And they feared the Lord, yet served their own gods, according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away. ³⁴ Until this day they did according to their manner: they feared the Lord, and they did according to their customs, and according to their manner, and according to the law, and according to the commandment which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whose name He made Israel. ³⁵ And the Lord made a covenant with them, and commanded them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, neither shall you worship them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;

² Bring to the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the lord in His holy court.

²⁵ For whom have I in heaven but You? And what have I desired upon the earth besides You?

⁹ there shall be no new god in you; neither shall you worship a strange god.

⁴ they have trusted with confidence forever, the great, eternal God;

¹⁰ Be My witnesses, and I too am a witness, says the Lord God, and My servant whom I have chosen; that you may know, and believe, and understand that I am He; before Me there was no other God, and after Me there shall be none.

⁸ Hide not yourselves, nor go astray; have you not heard from the beginning, and have I not told you? You are witnesses if there is a God beside Me.

²¹ If they will declare, let them draw near, that they may know together, who has caused these things to be heard from the beginning; then was it told you. I am God, and there is not another beside Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me. ²² Turn to Me, and you shall be saved, you that come from the end of the earth; I am God, and there is none other.

⁹ and remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is none besides Me,

⁶ Do not go after strange gods, to serve them, and to worship them, lest you provoke Me by the works of your hands, to do you harm.

¹⁵ And I sent to you My servants the prophets, saying, Turn, everyone from his evil way, and amend your practices, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and you shall dwell upon the land which I gave to you and to your fathers. But you have not inclined your ears, and you would not listen.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said to him, "Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him alone you shall serve.' "

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of the things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

⁶ yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, or unclean person, nor covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who are mindful of earthly things.

¹⁸ Let no one rule against you, desiring to do so in false humility and in worship of the angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, in vain being puffed up by his carnal mind,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. ²¹ Little children, guard yourselves from idols. Amen.

¹⁰ And I fell before his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not! I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

⁹ Then he said to me, "See that you do not! For I am your fellow servant, and I am of your brothers the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people combined against Aaron, and said to him, Arise and make us gods who shall go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us forth out of the land of Egypt — we do not know what has become of him.

⁸ they have quickly gone out of the way which you have commanded; they have made for themselves a calf, and worshipped it, and sacrificed to it, and said,

²³ For they said to me, Make us gods which shall go before us; as for this man Moses, who brought us out of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.

¹⁷ And you shall not make to yourself molded gods.

⁴ You shall not follow idols, and you shall not make to yourselves molten gods: I am the Lord your God.

¹⁵ And take careful heed to your hearts, for you saw no similitude in the day in which the Lord spoke to you in Horeb in the mountain out of the midst of the fire; ¹⁶ lest you transgress, and make to yourselves a carved image, any kind of figure, the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any beast of those that are on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird which flies under heaven, ¹⁸ the likeness of any reptile which creeps on the earth, the likeness of any fish of those which are in the waters under the earth; ¹⁹ and lest having looked up to the sky, and having seen the sun and the moon and the stars, and all the heavenly bodies, you should go astray and worship them, and serve them, which the Lord your God has distributed to all the nations under heaven.

²³ Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord our God, which He made with you, and you transgress, and make to yourselves a graven image of any of the things concerning which the Lord your God commanded you. ²⁴ For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. ²⁵ And when you have begotten sons and grandsons, and you have dwelt a long time on the land, and have transgressed, and made a graven image of any thing, and have done wickedly before the Lord your God to provoke Him;

⁸ You shall not make to yourself an image, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth below, and whatever are in the waters under the earth.

¹⁵ Cursed is the man whosoever shall make a graven or molten image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of craftsmen, and shall put it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, So be it.

²⁸ And the king took counsel, and went, and made two golden heifers, and said to the people, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold, here are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

⁷ And he set the graven image, the molten statue, the idol which he made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;

⁷ Let all that worship graven images be ashamed, who boast of their idols; worship Him, all you His angels.

⁴ The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of men's hands. ⁵ They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see; ⁶ they have ears, but they cannot hear; they have noses, but they cannot smell; ⁷ they have hands, but they cannot handle; they have feet, but they cannot walk; they cannot speak through their throat. ⁸ Let those that make them become like them, and all who trust in them.

¹⁵ The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the works of men's hands. ¹⁶ They have a mouth, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see; ¹⁷ they have ears, but they cannot hear; for there is no breath in their mouth. ¹⁸ Let those who make them be made like them; and all those who trust in them.

¹⁸ To whom have you compared the Lord? And with what likeness have you compared Him? ¹⁹ Has not the artificer made an image, or the goldsmith having melted gold, guilded it over, and made it a similitude? ²⁰ For the artificer chooses out a wood that will not rot, and will wisely inquire how he shall set up his image, and that so that it should not be moved.

⁸ I am the Lord God; that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praises to graven images.

¹⁷ But they are turned back; be utterly ashamed, you that trust in graven images, who say to the molten images, You are our gods.

⁹ But they that framed false gods did not then hearken; and they that engraved images are all vain, performing their own desires, which shall not profit them, but they shall be ashamed ¹⁰ that form a god, and all that engrave worthless things; ¹¹ and all by whom they were made have withered; yes, let all the deaf be gathered from among men, and let them stand together; and let them be ashamed and confounded together; ¹² For the artificer sharpens the iron; he fashions the idol with an ax, and fixes it with an awl, and fashions it with the strength of his arm; and he will be hungry and weak, and will drink no water. ¹³ The artificer, having chosen a piece of wood, marks it out with a rule, and fits it with glue, and makes it as the form of a man, and as the beauty of a man, to set it up in the house. ¹⁴ He cuts wood out of the forest, which the Lord planted, even a pine tree, and the rain made it grow, ¹⁵ that it might be for men to burn; and having taken part of it he warms himself; yes, they burn part of it, and bake loaves on it; and of the rest they make for themselves gods, and they worship them. ¹⁶ Half of it he burns in the fire, and with half of it he bakes loaves on the coals; and having roasted flesh on it he eats, and is satisfied, and having warmed himself he says, I am comfortable, for I have warmed myself, and have seen the fire. ¹⁷ And the rest he makes a graven god, and worships and prays, saying, Deliver me; for you are my god. ¹⁸ They have no understanding to perceive; for they have been blinded so that they should not see with their eyes, nor perceive with their heart. ¹⁹ And one has not considered in his mind, nor known in his understanding, that he has burned up half of it in the fire, and baked loaves on its coals and has roasted and eaten flesh, and of the rest of it he has made an abomination, and they worship it. ²⁰ Know that their heart is ashes, and they err, and no one is able to deliver his soul; see, you will not say, There is a lie in my right hand.

¹⁶ All that are opposed to Him shall be ashamed and confounded, and shall walk in shame; you isles, keep a feast to Me.

⁵ To whom have you compared Me? See and consider, you that go astray. ⁶ They that furnish gold out of a purse, and silver by weight, will weigh it in a scale, and they hire a goldsmith and make idols, and bow down, and worship them. ⁷ They bear it upon the shoulder, and go; and if they put it upon its place, it remains, it cannot move; and whosoever shall cry to it, it cannot hear; it cannot save him from trouble. ⁸ Therefore remember these things, and groan; repent, you that have gone astray, return in your heart;

³ For the customs of the nations are vain; it is a tree cut out of the forest, the work of the carpenter, or a molten image. ⁴ They are beautified with silver and gold, they fix them with hammers and nails; ⁵ they will set them up that they may not move.

⁸ (TEXT OMITTED) ⁹ brought from Tarshish, gold will come from Uphaz, and the work of goldsmiths. They are all the works of craftsmen, they will clothe themselves with blue and scarlet.

¹⁴ Every man is deprived of knowledge, every goldsmith is confounded because of his graven images; for he has cast false gods, there is no breath in them. ¹⁵ They are vain works, wrought in mockery; in the time of their visitation they shall perish. ¹⁶ Such is not the portion of Jacob; for He that formed all things, He is his inheritance; the Lord is His name.

¹⁰ So I went in and looked, and I beheld vain abominations, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon them round about.

²⁹ "Therefore, being the offspring of God, we ought not to suppose that the Godhead is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and the imagination of man.

²⁶ And you observe and hear that not only at Ephesus, but almost in all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great multitude, saying that they are not gods which are made by human hands. ²⁷ And not only is this business of ours in danger to come into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be despised and also her magnificence, about to be destroyed, she whom all Asia and the world worship." ²⁸ And hearing, and becoming full of anger, they were crying out saying, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" ²⁹ And the whole city was filled with confusion, and they rushed with one purpose into the theater, having seized Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians, traveling companions of Paul. ³⁰ Now when Paul desired to enter into the people, the disciples would not permit him. ³¹ And also some of the officials of Asia, being friends with him, sent word to him and urged him not to present himself in the theater. ³² Then others were calling out something different, for the assembly was confused, and the majority did not know for what reason they had come together. ³³ And from the crowd they brought forward Alexander, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander motioned with his hand, and desired to make a defense to the people. ³⁴ But recognizing he was a Jew, there arose one voice from them all, calling out for two hours, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" ³⁵ And having quieted the crowd, the city clerk said: "Men of Ephesus, for what man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image fallen from heaven?

²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.

²⁰ But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent from the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and of wood, which neither are able to see nor to hear nor to walk.

¹⁴ And he deceives my own people who dwell on the earth by the signs which were given to him to do before the Beast, saying to those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound--and came to life! -from the sword. ¹⁵ And it was granted to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

⁹ Then another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the Beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, ¹⁰ then he shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out undiluted in the cup of His wrath. And they shall be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and before the Lamb. ¹¹ And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, those who worship the Beast and his image, and anyone who receives the mark of his name."

² So the first went off and poured out his bowl on the earth, and a bad and malignant ulcer came upon the men having the mark of the beast, and those who worshipped his image.

²⁴ You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them. You shall not do according to their works, but shall utterly destroy them, and break to pieces their pillars.

⁶ And the Lord passed by before his face, and proclaimed, The Lord God, gracious and merciful, longsuffering and very compassionate, and true, ⁷ and keeping justice and mercy for thousands, taking away iniquity and unrighteousness and sins; and He will not clear the guilty; bringing the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and to the children's children, to the third and fourth generation.

¹⁴ For you shall not worship strange gods, for the Lord God, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God;

⁵ then will I set My face against that man and his family, and I will destroy him, and all who have been of one mind with him, so that he should go a whoring to the princes, from their people.

²⁹ And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall you eat.

³⁹ And those who are left of you shall perish, because of their sins, and because of the sins of their fathers: in the land of their enemies shall they consume away. ⁴⁰ And they shall confess their sins, and the sins of their fathers, that they have transgressed and neglected Me, and that they have walked perversely before Me,

¹⁸ The Lord is longsuffering and merciful, and true, removing transgressions and iniquities and sins, and He shall by no means clear the guilty, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation.

³³ And your sons shall be fed in the wilderness forty years, and they shall bear your fornication, until your caracasses are consumed in the wilderness.

²⁴ For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

⁹ You shall not bow down to them, nor shall you serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, visiting the sins of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,

¹⁵ for the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God, lest the Lord your God be very angry with you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.

¹⁰ and who recompenses them that hate Him to their face, to utterly destroy them; and will not be slack with them that hate Him; He will recompense them to their face.

²¹ They have provoked Me to jealousy by that which is not God, they have exasperated Me with their idols; and I will provoke them to jealousy with them that are not a nation, I will anger them with a nation void of understanding.

⁴¹ For I will sharpen My sword like lightning, and My hand shall take hold of judgment; and I will render judgment to My enemies, and will recompense them that hate Me.

⁷ that you go not in among these nations that are left; and the names of their gods shall not be named among you, neither shall you serve them, neither shall you bow down to them.

¹⁶ when you transgress the covenant of the Lord our God, which He has commanded us, and go and serve other gods, and bow down to them.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, Indeed you will not be able to serve the Lord, for God is holy; and He being jealous will not forgive your sins and your transgressions.

¹⁹ And it came to pass when the judge died, that they went back, and again corrupted themselves worse than their fathers to go after other gods, to serve them and to worship them: they did not abandon their own doings, nor their stubborn ways.

² Thus said the Lord of hosts, Now will I take vengeance for what Amalek did to Israel, when he met him in the way as he came up out of Egypt. ³ And now go, and you shall strike Amalek and Hierim and all that belongs to him, and you shall not save anything of his alive, but you shall utterly destroy him. And you shall devote him and all his to destruction, and you shall spare nothing belonging to him; and you shall slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, calf and sheep, camel and donkey.

¹ And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, There is guilt upon Saul and his house because of his bloody murder, whereby he slew the Gibeonites.

⁶ Let one give us seven men of his sons, and let us hang them up in the sun to the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, as chosen out for the Lord. And the king said, I will give them.

²⁹ Have you seen how Ahab has been pricked to the heart before Me? I will not bring on the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring on the evil.

³⁵ And the Lord made a covenant with them, and commanded them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, neither shall you worship them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;

⁴¹ So these nations feared the Lord, and served their graven images: even their sons and their son's sons do to this day, even as their fathers did.

²⁶ Nevertheless the Lord turned not from the fierceness of His great anger, wherewith He was wroth in His anger against Judah, because of the provocations, with which Manasseh provoked Him.

¹⁴ And it came to pass after Amaziah had returned from attacking Edom, that he brought home the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up for himself as gods, and bowed down before them, and he sacrificed to them.

⁴ Let their children be far from safety, and let them be crushed at the doors of vile men, and let there be no deliverer.

¹⁹ Let his substance fail to supply his children: God shall recompense him, and he shall know it.

⁵⁸ And they provoked Him with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.

⁸ Remember not our old transgressions; let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us; for we are greatly impoverished.

¹⁵ The Lord's enemies would have lied to Him; but their time shall be forever.

¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.

³⁴ For the soul of her husband is full of jealousy: he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not forego his enmity for any ransom: neither will he be reconciled by many gifts.

³⁶ But they that sin against me act wickedly against their own souls, and they that hate me love death.

²⁰ As a garment defiled with blood shall not be pure, so neither shall you be pure; because you have destroyed My land, and have slain My people; you shall not endure forever; you are an evil seed. ²¹ Prepare your children to be slain for the sins of their father; that they arise not, and inherit the earth, nor fill the earth with wars.

¹⁵ that it might be for men to burn; and having taken part of it he warms himself; yes, they burn part of it, and bake loaves on it; and of the rest they make for themselves gods, and they worship them.

¹⁹ And one has not considered in his mind, nor known in his understanding, that he has burned up half of it in the fire, and baked loaves on its coals and has roasted and eaten flesh, and of the rest of it he has made an abomination, and they worship it.

⁶ Behold, it is written before Me; I will not be silent until I have recompensed into their bosom, ⁷ their sins and the sins of their fathers, says the Lord, who have burned incense on the mountains, and reproached Me on the hills; I will recompense their works into their bosom.

⁹ Therefore I will yet plead with you, and will plead with your children's children.

¹⁸ Granting mercy to thousands, and recompensing the sins of the fathers into the bosoms of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God;

³ And He stretched forth the likeness of a hand, and took me by the crown of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and sky, and brought me to Jerusalem in a vision of God, to the porch of the gate that looks to the north, where was the pillar of the Purchaser.

² And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, and part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

² God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; the Lord avenges with wrath; the Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries, and He cuts off His enemies.

⁹ And he said to Him, "All these things will I give You, if You will fall down and worship me."

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and you will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and you will persecute from city to city, ³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood being shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Assuredly I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify about it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

²³ He who hates Me hates My Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done the works among them which no one else has done, they would have no sin; but now they have both seen and they have hated both Me and My Father.

³⁰ slanderers, hateful to God, insolent men, proud, braggarts, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

⁷ Therefore the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it does not submit to the law of God, nor indeed can it.

²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

⁴ Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world is constituted an enemy of God.

³⁷ Because He loved your fathers, He also chose you, their seed, after them, and He brought you Himself out of Egypt with His great strength,

²⁹ O that there were such a heart in them, that they should fear Me, and keep My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their sons forever!

⁹ You shall know therefore, that the Lord your God, He is God, a faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy for them that love Him, and for those that keep His commandments to a thousand generations,

³⁹ And I will give them another way, and another heart, to fear Me continually, and that for good to them and their children after them. ⁴⁰ And I will make with them an everlasting covenant, which I will by no means turn away from them, and I will put My fear into their heart, that they may not depart from Me.

¹⁵ "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

²¹ He that has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him."

³⁹ "For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

²⁸ As regards to the gospel, they are enemies for your sake; but as regards to election, they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. ²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

¹⁹ We love Him because He first loved us.

³ For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,

⁶ This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

¹² And you shall not swear unjustly by My name, and you shall not profane the holy name of your God: I am the Lord your God.

¹¹ And the son of the Israelite woman named THE NAME and cursed; and they brought him to Moses. And his mother's name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. ¹² And they put him in custody, to judge him by the command of the Lord. ¹³ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ Bring forth him that cursed outside the camp, and all who heard shall lay their hands upon his head, and all the congregation shall stone him. ¹⁵ And speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them, Whosoever shall curse God shall bear his sin. ¹⁶ And he that names the name of the Lord, let him die the death: let all the congregation of Israel stone him with stones; whether he be a stranger or a native, let him die for naming the name of the Lord.

¹¹ You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord your God will certainly not acquit him that takes His name in vain.

²⁰ You shall fear the Lord your God, and serve Him, and shall cleave to Him, and shall swear by His name.

¹² And now swear to me by the Lord God; since I dealt mercifully with you, so do you also deal mercifully with the house of my father:

¹⁷ And the men said to her, We are clear of this your oath.

²⁰ This we will do: take them alive, and we will preserve them: so there shall not be wrath against us by reason of the oath which we swore to them.

⁹ But you shall by no means hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man, and will know what you shall do to him, and shall bring down his grey hairs with blood to the grave.

¹⁴ Offer to God the sacrifice of praise; and pay your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵ And call upon Me in the day of affliction; and I shall deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. Pause. ¹⁶ But to the sinner God has said, Why do you declare My ordinances, and take up My covenant in your mouth?

⁹ lest I be filled and become false, and say, Who sees me? Or be poor and steal, and swear vainly by the name of God.

² The Lord lives, with truth, in judgment and righteousness, then shall nations bless by him, and by him they shall praise God in Jerusalem.

³³ "Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not swear falsely, but you shall pay your oaths to the Lord.' ³⁴ "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; ³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. ³⁶ Nor shall you swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your word be 'Yes', 'yes,'; 'No,' 'no.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, is obligated.' ¹⁷ "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, is obligated.' ¹⁹ "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Therefore he that swears by the altar, swears by it and by all the things on it. ²¹ He that swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwelt in it. ²² And he that swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it.

⁶³ But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I adjure You by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!" ⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "You said it. Nevertheless, I say to you, from now on, you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."

²³ Moreover I call upon God as a witness against my soul, that in order to spare you, I came no more to Corinth.

¹⁶ For men indeed swear by the greater, and the oath for confirmation is an end of every dispute to them. ¹⁷ Thus God, wanting to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, guaranteed it by an oath,

¹² But above all, my brothers, do not swear, neither by heaven nor the earth, nor any other oath. But let your "Yes," be "Yes," and your "No," "No," so that you may not fall into hypocrisy.

³ And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He ceased from all His works which God began to do.

²³ And Moses said to them, Is not this the word which the Lord spoke? Tomorrow is the Sabbath, a holy rest to the Lord: bake what you will bake, and boil what you will boil, and all that is left over lay aside for tomorrow. ²⁴ And they left it aside till the morning, as Moses commanded them; and it did not stink, neither was there a worm in it. ²⁵ And Moses said, Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord: it shall not be found in the plain. ²⁶ Six days you shall gather it, and on the seventh day is a Sabbath, for there shall be none on that day. ²⁷ And it came to pass on the seventh day that some of the people went forth to gather, and found none. ²⁸ And the Lord said to Moses, How long are you unwilling to heed My commands and My law? ²⁹ See, for the Lord has given you this day as the Sabbath, therefore He has given you on the sixth day the bread of two days. You shall sit each of you in your houses; let no one go forth from his place on the seventh day. ³⁰ And the people kept the Sabbath on the seventh day.

¹² Six days shall you do your works, and on the seventh day there shall be rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and that the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.

¹³ Speak also to the children of Israel, saying, Take heed and keep My Sabbaths; for they are a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord that sanctifies you. ¹⁴ And you shall keep the Sabbath, because this is holy to the Lord for you; he that profanes it shall surely be put to death: everyone who shall do a work on it, that soul shall be destroyed from the midst of his people. ¹⁵ Six days you shall work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath, a holy rest unto the Lord; everyone who shall do a work on the seventh day shall be put to death. ¹⁶ And the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe them throughout their generations.

³ Six days shall you do work, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath; a rest, a holy convocation to the Lord: you shall not do any work, it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.

⁴ Thus says the Lord to the eunuchs: as many as shall keep My Sabbaths, and choose the things which I take pleasure in, and take hold of My covenant; ⁵ I will give to them in My house and within My walls an honorable place, better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name, and it shall not fail. ⁶ And I will give it to the strangers that attach themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be to Him servants and handmaids; and as for all that keep My Sabbaths, from profaning them, and that take hold of My covenant,

²¹ Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. There shall be rest in seed time and in harvest.

² Six days shall you perform works, but on the seventh day shall be a rest — a holy Sabbath — a rest unto the Lord: everyone that does work on it, let him die.

¹⁴ But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, "There are six days in which one should work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day."

² And God finished on the sixth day His works which He made, and He ceased on the seventh day from all His works which He made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He ceased from all His works which God began to do.

²⁷ And it came to pass on the seventh day that some of the people went forth to gather, and found none. ²⁸ And the Lord said to Moses, How long are you unwilling to heed My commands and My law?

¹⁴ but on the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God: you shall do in it no work, neither you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, your ox, your donkey, your livestock, nor the stranger that sojourns in the midst of you; that your male servant may rest, and your maid and your ox, as well as you. ¹⁵ And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand, and an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord has commanded you to keep the Sabbath day, and to sanctify it.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son, and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow which dwells among you, in whatsoever place the Lord your God shall choose, that His name should be called there. ¹² And you shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and you shall observe and do these commands.

¹⁴ You shall not unjustly withhold the wages of the poor and needy of your brothers, or of the strangers who are in your cities. ¹⁵ You shall pay him his wages the same day, the sun shall not go down upon it, because he is poor and he trusts in it; and he shall cry against you to the Lord, and it shall be sin to you. ¹⁶ The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, and the sons shall not be put to death for the fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin. ¹⁷ You shall not pervert the judgment of the stranger and the fatherless, and the widow; you shall not take the widow's garment for a pledge. ¹⁸ And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing. ¹⁹ And when you have reaped the grain in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in your field, you shall not return to take it; it shall be for the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands. ²⁰ And if you should gather your olives, you shall not return to collect the remainder; it shall be for the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, and you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing. ²¹ And whenever you shall gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean what you have left; it shall be for the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow; ²² and you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.

³¹ And as for the people of the land who bring wares and all manner of merchandise to sell on the Sabbath day, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on the holy day; and we will leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

¹⁵ In those days I saw in Judah men treading wine-presses on the Sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and loading donkeys with wine, grapes, figs, and every kind of burden, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. ¹⁶ And I testified in the day of their sale. Also there dwelt in it men bringing fish, and selling every kind of merchandise to the children of Judah and in Jerusalem on the Sabbath. ¹⁷ And I strove with the free children of Judah, and said to them, What is this evil thing which you do, and profane the Sabbath day? ¹⁸ Did not your fathers commit this same trespass, and our God brought upon them and upon us and upon this city all these evils? And do you bring additional wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath? ¹⁹ And it came to pass, when the gates were set up in Jerusalem, before the Sabbath, that I spoke, and they shut the gates; and I gave orders that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath. And I set some of my servants at the gates, that none should bring in burdens on the Sabbath day. ²⁰ So all the merchants lodged, and carried on traffic outside of Jerusalem once or twice. ²¹ Then I testified against them, and said to them, Why do you lodge in front of the wall? If you do so again, I will stretch out my hand upon you. From that time they came not on the Sabbath.

⁵⁶ Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And they rested on the Sabbath, according to the commandment.

¹ In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth. ² But the earth was unsightly and unfurnished, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the water.

²⁸ And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the seas and flying creatures of heaven, and all the cattle and all the earth, and all the reptiles that creep on the earth.

¹⁷ It is a perpetual covenant between Me and the children of Israel, it is a perpetual sign with Me; for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and on the seventh day He ceased, and rested.

⁴ For the ends of the earth are in His hands; and the heights of the mountains are His. ⁵ For the sea is His, and He made it; and His hands formed the dry land. ⁶ Come, let us worship and fall down before Him, and weep before the Lord that made us. ⁷ For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.

²⁷ And He said to them, "The Sabbath came into being for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath. ²⁸ So then the Son of Man is Lord, even of the Sabbath."

⁷ Now on the first day of the week, the disciples being assembled to break bread, Paul was discussing with them, being about to leave on the next day, and extended his message until midnight.

¹⁵ Whoever strikes his father or his mother, let him be certainly put to death.

¹⁷ He that reviles his father or his mother shall surely die.

³² You shall rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and shall fear your God: I am the Lord your God.

²⁶ I call heaven and earth this day to witness against you, that you shall surely perish from off the land, into which you go across the Jordan to inherit it there; you shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall be utterly cut off.

⁴⁰ And keep His commandments and His statutes, all that I command you this day; that it may be well with you, and with your sons after you, that you may be long-lived upon the earth, which the Lord your God is giving you forever.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you; that it may be well with you, and that you may live long upon the land, which the Lord your God gives you.

¹⁵ You shall have a true and just weight, and a true and just measure, that you may live long upon the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.

⁴⁷ For this is no vain word to you; for it is your life, and because of this word you shall live long upon the land, into which you go over the Jordan to inherit it.

¹⁹ And Bathsheba went in to King Solomon to speak to him concerning Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and kissed her, and sat on the throne, and a throne was set for the mother of the king, and she sat on his right hand.

¹² And Elisha saw, and cried, Father, father, the chariot of Israel, and its horseman! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his garments, and tore them into two pieces.

⁸ Hear, my son, the instruction of your father, and reject not the rules of your mother. ⁹ For you shall receive a crown of grace for your head, and a chain of gold around your neck.

¹⁶ For length of days and years of life are in her right hand, and in her left hand are wealth and glory. ^(3:16A) Out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.

⁵ A fool scorns his father's instruction, but he that keeps his commandments is more prudent. In abounding righteousness is great strength, but the ungodly shall utterly perish from the earth.

²⁰ The lamp of him that reviles father or mother shall be put out, and his eyes shall see darkness.

²² Listen, my son, to your father which begot you, and despise not your mother because she has grown old. ²³ (TEXT OMITTED) ²⁴ A righteous father brings up his children well, and his soul rejoices over a wise son. ²⁵ Let your father and your mother rejoice over you, and let her that bore you be glad.

²⁴ He that casts off father or mother, and thinks he does not sin, the same is partaker with an ungodly man.

¹¹ A wicked generation curse their father, and do not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that laughs to scorn a father, and dishonors the old age of a mother, let the ravens of the valleys pick it out, and let the young eagles devour it.

⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My fear? Says the Lord Almighty. You the priests are they that despise My name: yet you said, In what way have we despised Your name?

⁴ For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, with death let him die.' ⁵ But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "It is a gift to God, whatever profit you might have received from me"-- ⁶ then by no means should he honor his father or mother.' Thus you have nullified the commandment of God on account of your tradition.

¹⁹ ' Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "

¹⁰ For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'Whoever speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.'

¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not commit murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' "

²⁰ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' "

²¹ subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.

¹ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ² "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: ³ "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing in the Lord.

⁸ And Cain said to Abel his brother, Let us go out into the plain. And it came to pass, that when they were in the plain, Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and killed him. ⁹ And the Lord God said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know — am I my brother's keeper? ¹⁰ And the Lord said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. ¹¹ And now you are cursed from the earth which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. ¹² When you till the earth, then it shall not continue to give its strength to you: you shall be groaning and trembling on the earth. ¹³ And Cain said to the Lord God, My crime is too great for me to be forgiven. ¹⁴ If You cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from Your presence, and I shall be groaning and trembling upon the earth, then it will be that anyone that finds me shall kill me. ¹⁵ And the Lord God said to him, Not so, anyone that slays Cain shall suffer a seven-fold vengeance; and the Lord God set a mark upon Cain, so that no one that found him would kill him. ¹⁶ So Cain went forth from the presence of God, and dwelt in the land of Nod over against Eden. ¹⁷ And Cain knew his wife, and having conceived she bore Enoch; and he built a city; and he named the city after the name of his son, Enoch. ¹⁸ And to Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael; and Mehujael begot Methushael; and Methushael begot Lamech. ¹⁹ And Lamech took to himself two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah. ²⁰ And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those that dwell in tents, feeding cattle. ²¹ And the name of his brother was Jubal; it was he who invented the psaltery and harp. ²² And Zillah also bore Tubal-Cain; he was a smith, a manufacturer both of brass and iron; and the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah. ²³ And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, you wives of Lamech, consider my words, because I have slain a man to my sorrow and a youth to my grief.

⁵ For your lifeblood shall I require at the hand of all wild beasts, and I shall require a man's life at the hand of his fellow man. ⁶ He that sheds man's blood, instead of that blood shall his own be shed, for in the image of God I made man.

¹⁴ And if anyone lie in wait for his neighbor to slay him by craft, and he go for refuge, you shall take him from My altar to put him to death.

²⁰ And if a man beats his manservant or his maidservant with a rod, and the party dies under his hands, he shall be surely punished.

²⁹ But if the bull was inclined to goring in the past, and men have told his owner, and he has not removed him, so that it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also.

²¹ Whosoever shall strike a man, and he shall die, let him die the death.

¹⁶ And if he should strike him with an iron instrument, and the man should die, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. ¹⁷ And if he should strike him with a stone thrown from his hand, whereby a man may die, and he thus dies, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. ¹⁸ And if he should stike him with an instrument of wood from his hand, whereby he may die, and he thus dies, he is a murderer; let the murderer by all means be put to death. ¹⁹ The avenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: whenever he shall meet him, he shall put him to death. ²⁰ And if he should thrust him, out of hatred, or cast anything upon him from an ambush, and the man should die, ²¹ or if he has stricken him with his hand through anger, and the man should die, let the man that struck him be put to death by all means, he is a murderer: let the murderer by all means be put to death; the avenger of blood shall slay the murderer when he meets him. ²² But if he should thrust him suddenly, not through enmity, or cast anything upon him, not from an ambush, ²³ or strike him with any stone, whereby a man may die, unawares, and it should fall upon him, and he should die, but he was not his enemy, nor sought to hurt him; ²⁴ then the assembly shall judge between the smiter and the avenger of blood, according to these judgments. ²⁵ And the congregation shall rescue the manslayer from the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, where he fled for refuge; and he shall dwell there till the death of the high priest, whom they anointed with the holy oil. ²⁶ But if the manslayer should in any way go out beyond the bounds of the city where he fled for refuge, ²⁷ and the avenger of blood should find him outside the bounds of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of blood should kill the manslayer, he is not guilty. ²⁸ For he ought to have remained in the city of refuge till the high priest died; and after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return to the land of his possession. ²⁹ And these things shall be to you for an ordinance of judgment throughout your generations in all your dwellings. ³⁰ Whoever kills a man, you shall slay the murderer on the testimony of witnesses; and one witness shall not testify against a soul that he should die. ³¹ And you shall not accept ransoms for life from a murderer who is worthy of death, for he shall be surely put to death. ³² You shall not accept a ransom to excuse his fleeing to the city of refuge, so that he should again dwell in the land, until the death of the high priest. ³³ So shall you not pollute with murder the land in which you dwell; for this blood pollutes the land, and the land shall not be purged from the blood shed upon it, but by the blood of him that shed it. ³⁴ And you shall not defile the land on which you dwell, on which I dwell in the midst of you; for I am the Lord dwelling in the midst of the children of Israel.

¹⁷ You shall not commit murder.

¹¹ But if there should be in you a man hating his neighbor, and he should lay wait for him, and rise up against him, and strike him, that he die, and he should flee to one of these cities, ¹² then shall the elders of his city send, and take him from there, and they shall deliver him into the hands of the avengers of blood, and he shall die. ¹³ Your eye shall not spare him; so shall you purge innocent blood from Israel, and it shall be well with you.

⁹ Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do that which is evil in His eyes? You have slain Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and you have taken his wife to be your wife, and you have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and you have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite, to be your wife.

¹⁶ Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, until he filled Jerusalem with it from one end to the other, beside his sins with which he caused Judah to sin, in doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.

²² So Joash remembered not the kindness which his father Jehoiada had exercised towards him, but killed his son. And as he died, he said, The Lord look upon it, and judge.

⁸ He lies in wait with rich men in secret places, in order to slay the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poor when he draws him after him: he will bring him down in his snare. ¹⁰ He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor. ¹¹ For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He has turned away His face so as never to look.

¹¹ If they should exhort you, saying, Come with us, partake in blood, and let us unjustly hide the just man in the earth:

¹⁸ For they that are concerned in murder store up evils for themselves; and the overthrow of transgressors is evil.

²¹ For behold, the Lord is bringing wrath from His holy place on those that dwell upon the earth; the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall not cover her slain.

¹⁵ But be certain of this, that if you kill me, you shall bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon its inhabitants; for in truth the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

²¹ "You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not kill,' and whoever kills will be liable to the judgment. ²² But I say to you that whoever gets angry with his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Empty-head!' will be liable to the council. But whoever says, ' fool!' will be liable to the fiery hell.

¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear false witness,'

⁴ And when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Certainly this man is a murderer, whom though he was rescued from the sea, justice does not permit to continue living."

⁹ For, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not kill," "You shall not steal," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, in this word it is summed up, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

²¹ envies, murders, drinking bouts, revelries, and the like; which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

⁹ knowing this: that the law is not laid down for the righteous, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for killers of fathers and killers of mothers, for murderers,

¹¹ For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but yet you murder, then you have become a transgressor of the law.

¹³ For judgment is without mercy to the one who does not show mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

¹² not as Cain who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his works were evil and the works of his brother were righteous. ¹³ Do not marvel, my brothers, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed over from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

²⁰ And you shall not lie with your neighbor's wife, to defile yourself with her.

¹⁰ Whatever man shall commit adultery with the wife of a man, or whoever shall commit adultery with the wife of his neighbor, let them die the death, the adulterer and the adulteress.

¹⁸ You shall not commit adultery.

⁴ And David sent messengers, and took her, and went in to her, and he lay with her. And she was purified from her uncleanness, and returned to her house. ⁵ And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

²⁷ And the time of mourning expired, and David sent and took her into his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son: but the thing which David did was evil in the eyes of the Lord.

¹⁵ whose paths are crooked, and their courses winding; ¹⁶ to remove you far from the straight way, and to estrange you from a righteous purpose. My son, let not evil counsel overtake you, ¹⁷ of her who has forsaken the instruction of her youth, and has forgotten the covenant of God. ¹⁸ For she has fixed her house near death, and guided her wheels near Hades with the giants.

²⁴ to keep you continually from a married woman, and from the flattery of a strange tongue. ²⁵ Let not the desire of beauty overcome you, neither be caught by her eyes, or captivated with her eyelids. ²⁶ For the value of a harlot is as much as of one loaf of bread, and a woman hunts for the precious souls of men. ²⁷ Shall anyone bind fire in his bosom, and not burn his garments? ²⁸ Or will anyone walk on coals of fire, and not burn his feet? ²⁹ So is he that goes in to a married woman; he shall not be held guiltless, neither anyone that touches her. ³⁰ It is not to be wondered at if one should be caught stealing, for he steals that when hungry, he may satisfy his soul: ³¹ but if he should be caught, he shall repay sevenfold, and shall deliver himself by giving all his goods. ³² But the adulterer through lack of understanding procures destruction to his soul. ³³ He endures both pain and disgrace, and his reproach shall never be wiped off.

¹⁸ Come, and let us enjoy love until the morning; come, and let us embrace in love. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at home, and has gone on a long journey, ²⁰ having taken in his hand a bundle of money: after many days he will return to his house. ²¹ So with much conversation she prevailed on him to go astray, and with the snares of her lips forced him from the right path. ²² And he followed her, being gently led on, as that of an ox led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a deer shot in the liver with an arrow: ²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life. ²⁴ Now then my son, listen to me, and attend to the words of my mouth. ²⁵ Let not your heart turn aside to her ways, ²⁶ for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable. ²⁷ Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.

⁸ They became as wanton horses — each one neighed after his neighbor's wife. ⁹ Shall I not punish them for these things? Says the Lord: and shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

²² And they shall make of them a curse in all the captivity of Judah in Babylon, saying, The Lord do to you as He did to Zedekiah, and as He did to Ahab, whom the king of Babylon fried in the fire; ²³ because of the iniquity which they wrought in Israel, and because they committed adultery with the wives of their fellow citizens, and spoke a word in My name, which I did not command them to speak, and I am witness, says the Lord.

⁵ And I will draw near to you in judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the witches, and against the adulteresses, and against them that swear falsely by My name, and against them that keep back the hireling's wages, and them that oppress the widow, and afflict orphans, and that wrest the judgment of the stranger, and do not fear Me, says the Lord Almighty.

²⁷ "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' ²⁸ But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman in order to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹¹ So He said to them, "Whoever should put away his wife and marry another commits adultery against her. ¹² And if a wife should put away her husband and be married to another, she commits adultery."

² For the woman who is under a man has been bound by law to the living husband. But if the husband should die, she is released from the law of the husband. ³ So then, while the husband is living, she will be called an adulteress if she becomes married to a different husband; but if her husband should die, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress, having become married to a different husband.

³ But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; ⁴ neither wickedness, nor foolish talk or coarse jesting, which are not proper, but rather thanksgiving. ⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, or unclean person, nor covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

⁴ Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁸ But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and sinners, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and drug users, and idolaters, and all who are false shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

¹⁶ Whosoever shall steal one of the children of Israel, and prevail over him and sell him, and he be found with him, let him certainly die.

¹ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ² The soul which shall have sinned, and willfully overlooked the commandments of the Lord, and shall have dealt falsely in the affairs of his neighbor in the matter of a deposit, or concerning fellowship, or concerning plunder, or has in anything wronged his neighbor, ³ or has found that which was lost, and shall have lied concerning it, and shall have sworn unjustly concerning any one of all the things, whatsoever a man may do, so as to sin hereby; ⁴ it shall come to pass, whenever he shall have sinned, and transgressed, that he shall restore the plunder which he has seized, or redress the injury which he has committed, or restore the deposit which was entrusted to him, or the lost article which he has found of any kind, about which he swore unjustly, he shall even restore it in full; and he shall add to it a fifth part besides; he shall restore it to him whose it is in the day in which he happens to be convicted. ⁵ And he shall bring to the Lord for his trespass, a ram of the flock, without blemish, of value to the amount of the thing in which he trespassed. ⁶ And the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he shall be forgiven for any one of all the things which he did and trespassed in it. ⁷ And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

¹¹ You shall not steal, you shall not lie, neither shall one bear false witness as an informer against his neighbor.

¹³ You shall not injure your neighbor, neither shall you rob him, neither shall the wages of your hireling remain with you until the morning.

³⁵ You shall not act unrighteously in judgment, in measures and weights and scales. ³⁶ There shall be among you just balances and just weights and just liquid measure. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. ³⁷ And you shall keep all My law and all My ordinances, and you shall do them: I am the Lord your God.

⁷ And if a man should be caught stealing one of his brethren of the children of Israel, and having overcome him he should sell him, that thief shall die; so shall you remove that evil one from yourselves.

¹³ You shall not have in your bag differing weights, a heavy and a light. ¹⁴ You shall not have in your house differing measures, a large and a small. ¹⁵ You shall have a true and just weight, and a true and just measure, that you may live long upon the land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance. ¹⁶ For everyone that does this is an abomination to the Lord your God, even everyone that does injustice.

¹⁹ For he has broken down the houses of many mighty men, and he has plundered a house, though he built it not. ²⁰ There is no security to his possessions; he shall not be saved by his desire. ²¹ There is nothing remaining of his provisions, therefore his goods shall not flourish. ²² But when he shall seem to be just satisfied, he shall be straitened; and all distress shall come upon him.

¹³ let us seize on his valuable property, and let us fill our houses with spoils: ¹⁴ but cast in your lot with us, and let us all provide a common purse, and let us have one pouch: ¹⁵ go not in the way with them, let your foot turn aside from their paths:

¹ False balances are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is acceptable unto Him.

¹⁰ And she knew not what things would come against her, says the Lord, even those that store up wrong and misery in their countries.

⁴ Hear now this, you that oppress the poor in the morning, and drive the needy ones by tyranny from the earth, ⁵ saying, When will the month pass away, and we shall sell, and the sabbath, and we shall open the treasure, to make the measure small, and to enlarge the weight, and make the balance unfair? ⁶ That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for shoes; and we will trade in every kind of fruit.

¹⁰ Is there not fire, and the house of the wicked heaping up wicked treasures, and that with the pride of unrighteousness? ¹¹ Shall the wicked be justified by the balanced, or deceitful weights in the bag,

³ They prepare their hands for mischief, the prince asks a reward, and the judge speaks flattering words; it is the desire of their soul;

³ And he said to me, This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole earth; for every thief shall be punished with death on this side, and every false swearer shall be punished on that side. ⁴ And I will bring it forth, says the Lord Almighty, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My name, and it shall rest in the midst of his house, and shall consume it, and the timber of it, and the stones of it.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

¹³ And He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.'"

¹³ And he said to them, "Collect nothing more than the amount which has been commanded to you." ¹⁴ Likewise the soldiers also were asking him, saying, "And what shall we do?" So he said to them, "Do not intimidate anyone or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages."

⁶ This he said, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to pilfer the things which were placed in it.

¹⁰ nor covetous, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor abusive people, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

²⁸ Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working that which is good with his hands, in order that he may have something to share with him who has need.

⁶ that no one should transgress against and to defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger concerning all, just as we told you before and solemnly testified.

¹ You shall not receive a false report. You shall not agree with the unjust to become an unjust witness.

⁶ You shall not pervert the judgment of the poor in his cause. ⁷ You shall abstain from every unjust thing: you shall not slay the innocent and righteous, and you shall not justify the wicked for gifts.

¹⁶ You shall not walk deceitfully among your people; you shall not rise up against the blood of your neighbor: I am the Lord your God.

¹⁵ One witness shall not stand to testify against a man for any iniquity, or for any fault, or for any sin which he may commit; by the mouth of two witnesses, or by the mouth of three witnesses, shall every word be established. ¹⁶ And if an unjust witness rise up against a man, alleging iniquity against him, ¹⁷ then shall the two men between whom the controversy is, stand before the Lord, and before the priests, and before the judges, who may be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall make diligent inquiry; and behold, if an unjust witness has borne unjust testimony, and has stood up against his brother, ¹⁹ then shall you do to him as he wickedly devised to do against his brother, and you shall remove the evil from yourselves. ²⁰ And the rest shall hear and fear, and do no more according to this evil thing in the midst of you. ²¹ Your eye shall not spare him; you shall exact life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

⁸ That you are conspiring against me, and there is no one that informs me, whereas my son has made a covenant with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or informs me, that my son has stirred up my servant against me for an enemy, as it is this day? ⁹ And Doeg the Syrian who was over the mules of Saul answered and said, I saw the son of Jesse as he came to Nob, to Abimelech son of Ahitub the priest. ¹⁰ And the priest inquired of God for him, and gave him provision, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine. ¹¹ And the king sent to call Abimelech son of Ahitub and all his father's sons, the priests that were in Nob; and they all came to the king. ¹² And Saul said, Hear now, you son of Ahitub. And he said, Behold, I am here, speak, my lord. ¹³ And Saul said to him, Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me, that you should give him bread and a sword, and should inquire of God for him, to raise him up against me as an enemy, as he is this day? ¹⁴ And he answered the king, and said, And who is there among all your servants as faithful as David, and he is a son-in-law of the king, and he is executor of all your commands, and is honorable in your house? ¹⁵ Have I begun today to inquire of God for him? By no means: let not the king bring a charge against his servant, and against any of my father's house, for your servant knew not in all these matters anything great or small. ¹⁶ And King Saul said, You shall surely die, Abimelech; you and all your father's house. ¹⁷ And the king said to the footmen that attended on him, Come here and kill the priests of the Lord, because their hand is with David, and because they knew that he fled, and they did not inform me. But the servants of the king would not lift their hands to fall upon the priest of the Lord. ¹⁸ And the king said to Doeg, Turn, and fall upon the priests: and Doeg the Syrian turned, and killed the priests of the Lord in that day, three hundred and five men, all wearing an ephod. ¹⁹ And he struck Nob, the city of the priest, with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, infant and suckling, calf and ox, and also sheep.

¹⁰ And set two men, sons of transgressors, before him, and let them testify against him, saying, He blasphemed God and the king: and let them lead him forth, and stone him, and let him die. ¹¹ And the men of his city, the elders, and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezabel sent to them, and as it had been written in the letters which she sent to them. ¹² And they proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth in a chief place among the people. ¹³ And two men, sons of transgressors, came in, and sat opposite him, and bore witness against him, saying, You have 6blasphemed God and the king. And they led him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, and he died.

³ Who has not spoken craftily with his tongue, neither has done evil to his neighbor, nor taken up a reproach against them that dwell nearest to him.

⁵ Him that secretly speaks against his neighbor, him have I driven from me; he that is proud in look and insatiable in heart — with him I have not eaten. ⁶ My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; he that walked in a perfect way, the same ministered to me. ⁷ He that is proud dwelled not in the midst of my house; the unjust speaker prospered not in my sight.

¹⁸ Righteous lips cover enmity, but they that utter railings are most foolish.

¹³ A double-tongued man discloses the secret counsels of an assembly, but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that accuses unjustly shall not escape.

⁵⁹ Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the Sanhedrin were seeking false witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death, ⁶⁰ and they did not find any. And though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any. But at last two false witnesses came forward

¹³ And they put forward false witnesses saying, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against the holy place and the law;

³¹ Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and blasphemy be removed from you, with all malice.

¹⁰ for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is opposed to sound doctrine,

³ unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good,

¹¹ Do not speak evil of one another, brothers. He who speaks evil against a brother and judges his brother speaks against the law and judges the law. And if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

²³ that I will not take from all your goods, from a string to a sandal strap, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich.

²³ And shall not their cattle and their herds, and their possessions, be ours? Only in this let us conform to them, and they will dwell with us.

²¹ I saw in the spoil an embroidered mantle, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one golden wedge of fifty shekels, and I desired them and took them; and behold, they are hid in my tent, and the silver is hid under them.

¹⁹ And why did you not listen to the voice of the Lord, but instead swoop down upon the spoils, and do that which was evil in the sight of the Lord?

² And it came to pass toward evening, that David arose off his couch, and walked on the roof of the king's house, and saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. ³ And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba the daughter of Eliab, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? ⁴ And David sent messengers, and took her, and went in to her, and he lay with her. And she was purified from her uncleanness, and returned to her house.

¹ I made a covenant with my eyes, and I will not think upon a virgin.

⁹ If my heart has gone forth after another man's wife, and if I laid wait at her doors;

³ Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself.

³⁶ Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

²³ Keep your heart with the utmost care, for out of these are the issues of life.

²⁴ to keep you continually from a married woman, and from the flattery of a strange tongue. ²⁵ Let not the desire of beauty overcome you, neither be caught by her eyes, or captivated with her eyelids.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother: yet there is no end to all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with wealth. And for whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, and an evil trouble.

¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who has loved gain, in the abundance thereof. This also is vanity. ¹¹ In the multitude of good they are increased that eat it, and what virtue has the owner, but the right of beholding it with his eyes?

¹⁵ He that walks in righteousness, speaking rightly, hating transgression and iniquity, and shaking his hands from gifts, stopping his ears that he should not hear the judgment of blood, shutting his eyes that he should not see injustice.

¹⁷ On account of sin for a little while I grieved him and struck him, and turned away My face from him; and he was grieved, and he went on sorrowful in his ways.

⁸ They became as wanton horses — each one neighed after his neighbor's wife.

¹⁷ Behold, your eyes are not good, nor your heart, but they go after your covetousness, and after the innocent blood to shed it, and after acts of injustice and slaughter, to commit them.

³¹ They approach you as a people that come together, and sit before you, and hear your words, but they will not do them; for there is falsehood in their mouth, and their heart goes after their pollutions.

⁶ Thus says the Lord; for three sins of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away from him, because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for sandals, ⁷ in which to tread on the dust of the earth, and they have smitten upon the heads of the poor, and have perverted the way of the lowly; and a son and his father have gone into the same maid, that they might profane the name of their God.

² And they desired fields, and plundered orphans, and oppressed families, and spoiled a man and his house, even a man and his inheritance.

⁹ Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evils.

²⁸ But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman in order to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and they were mocking Him.

⁴ While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And after it was sold, was it not in your control? Why have you purposed this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

³³ I have desired the silver or gold or clothes of no one.

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known lust unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."

³ But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

⁵ Therefore put to death your members on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that neither can we carry anything out! ⁸ But having food and clothing, with these things we shall be content. ⁹ But those desiring to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many senseless and harmful lusts which sink men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, of which some by aspiring have strayed away from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁵ Let your way of life be without loving money, being satisfied with what you have. For He Himself has said, "By no means shall I desert you, nor in any way shall I forsake you;"

¹⁶ And it came to pass on the third day, as the morning drew nigh, there were voices and lightnings and a dark cloud on Mount Sinai. The voice of the trumpet sounded loud, and all the people in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses led the people forth out of the camp to meet God, and they stood by under the camp. ¹⁸ Now Mount Sinai was altogether in smoke, because God had descended upon it in fire; and the smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the people were exceedingly amazed.

⁷ Where shall I go from Your Spirit? And to where shall I flee from Your presence? ⁸ If I should go up to heaven, You are there: if I should go down to hell, You are present.

²³ I am a God close at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off.

¹⁸ For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and to a whirlwind, ¹⁹ and to a sound of a trumpet and to a voice of words, which those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of that place Peniel; for, he said, I have seen God face to face, and my life was preserved.

²⁰ And God said, You shall not be able to see My face; for no man shall see My face and live.

⁵ And I stood between the Lord and you at that time to report to you the words of the Lord, (because you were afraid before the fire, and you went not up to the mountain,) saying,

²³ And it came to pass when you heard the voice out of the midst of the fire, for the mountain burned with fire, that you came to me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders, ²⁴ and you said, Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire: this day we have seen that God shall speak to man, and he shall live. ²⁵ And now let us not die, for this great fire will consume us, if we shall hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore, and we shall die. ²⁶ For what man is there, who has heard the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have heard, and shall live? ²⁷ But draw near, and hear all that the Lord our God shall say, and you shall speak to us all things whatsoever the Lord our God shall speak to you, and we will hear, and do.

¹⁶ according to all the things which you desired from the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, We will not again hear the voice of the Lord your God, and we will not anymore see this great fire, lest we die.

¹⁹ Why then the law? It was added on account of transgressions, until the Seed should come to whom it had been promised; and it was commanded through angels by the hand of a mediator.

¹⁹ and to a sound of a trumpet and to a voice of words, which those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.

¹¹ And Abraham said, Why I said, Surely there is not the worship of God in this place, and they will slay me because of my wife.

¹ And it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham, Abraham; and he said, Behold! I am here.

²⁵ And Moses cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, and he cast it into the water, and the water was sweetened. There He established to him ordinances and judgments, and there He proved him, ²⁶ and said, If you will indeed hear the voice of the Lord your God, and do the things pleasing before Him, and will heed His commands, and keep all His ordinances, no disease which I have brought upon the Egyptians will I bring upon you, for I am the Lord your God that heals you.

¹⁰ even the things that happened in the day in which you stood before the Lord our God in Horeb in the day of the assembly; for the Lord said to me, Gather the people to Me, and let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days which they live upon the earth, and they shall teach their sons.

² That you may fear the Lord your God, and keep all His statutes, and His commandments, which I command you today, you, and your sons, and your sons' sons, all the days of your life, that you may live many days.

² And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness, that He might afflict you, and try you, and that the things in your heart might be made manifest, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

¹² And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul;

³ you shall not hearken to the words of that prophet, or the dreamer of that dream, because the Lord your God is testing you, to see whether you love your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

¹⁴ And now fear the Lord, and serve Him in righteousness and justice; and remove the strange gods, which our fathers served beyond the river, and in Egypt; and serve the Lord.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, Fear not: you have indeed done all this wickedness; only turn not from following the Lord, and serve the Lord with all your heart.

¹⁵ But as for the former acts of extortion in which those who were before me oppressed them, they even took of them their last money, forty shekels for bread and wine; and the very outcasts of them exercised authority over the people; but I did not so, because of the fear of God.

²⁸ And He said to man, Behold, godliness is wisdom: and to abstain from evil is understanding.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and there is good understanding to all that practice it: and godliness toward God is the beginning of discernment; but the ungodly will nullify wisdom and instruction.

⁷ Be not wise in your own conceit; but fear God, and depart from all evil.

¹ Then Solomon said, The Lord said that He would dwell in thick darkness.

⁹ And He bowed the heaven, and came down: and thick darkness was under His feet.

¹² At the brightness before Him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.

² Clouds and darkness are round about Him; righteousness and judgment are the establishment of His throne.

² who cover Yourself with light as with a garment; spreading out the heaven as a curtain.

¹⁶ who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or is able to see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

¹³ Also You came down upon Mount Sinai, and You spoke to them out of heaven, and gave them right judgments, and laws of truth, ordinances, and good commandments.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape, having refused Him who warned them, how much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who warns from heaven; ²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also the heaven."

³ You shall have no other gods beside Me. ⁴ You shall not make for yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. ⁵ You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord your God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people combined against Aaron, and said to him, Arise and make us gods who shall go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us forth out of the land of Egypt — we do not know what has become of him. ² And Aaron said to them, Take off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives and daughters, and bring them to me. ³ And all the people took off the golden earrings that were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ And he received them from their hands, and formed them with an engraving tool; and he made them a molded calf, and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ And Moses returned to the Lord and said, I pray, O Lord, this people have sinned a great sin, and they have made for themselves golden gods.

⁴ And it came to pass when they rose early in the morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off each before the threshold, and both the wrists of his hands had fallen on the floor of the porch; only the stump of Dagon was left. ⁵ Therefore the priests of Dagon, and everyone that enters into the house of Dagon, do not tread upon the threshold of the house of Dagon in Azotus to this day, for they step over it.

³³ And they feared the Lord, yet served their own gods, according to the rituals of the nations from among whom they were carried away.

³⁹ And as for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord, even the Lord: Put away each one his evil practices, and hereafter if you hearken to Me, then shall you no more profane My holy name by your gifts and by devices.

⁸ when they set My doorway by their doorway, and My thresholds near to their thresholds; and they made My wall as it were joining Myself and them, and they profaned My holy name with their iniquities which they wrought; and I destroyed them in My wrath and with slaughter.

⁴ They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of iron, and of wood, and of stone.

²³ And you have exalted yourself against the Lord God of heaven; and they have brought before you the vessels of His house, and you, your nobles, your mistresses, and your concubines have drunk wine out of them; and you have praised the gods of gold, silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, and which hear not, and know not: and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

⁵ and them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;

²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons. ²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

¹⁴ Do not become unequally yoked with unbelievers; for what participation is there for righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion is there for light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what agreement is there for Christ with Belial? Or what part is there for a believer with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what union is there for the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

¹⁸ Let no one rule against you, desiring to do so in false humility and in worship of the angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, in vain being puffed up by his carnal mind, ¹⁹ and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, supported and joined together by joints and ligaments, grows with the growth of God.

¹⁵ But outside are dogs and drug users and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices a lie.

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed.

¹ And the Lord called Moses again and spoke to him out of the tabernacle of witness, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and you shall say to them, ² If any man of you shall bring gifts to the Lord, you shall bring your gifts of the cattle and of the oxen and of the sheep. ³ If his gift be a whole burnt offering, he shall bring an unblemished male of the herd to the door of the tabernacle of witness, he shall bring it as acceptable before the Lord. ⁴ And he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering as a thing acceptable for him, to make atonement for him. ⁵ And they shall slay the calf before the Lord; and the sons of Aaron the priests shall bring the blood, and they shall pour the blood round about on the altar, which is at the doors of the tabernacle of witness. ⁶ And having skinned the whole burnt offering, they shall divide it by its limbs. ⁷ And the sons of Aaron the priests shall put fire on the altar, and shall pile wood on the fire. ⁸ And the sons of Aaron the priests shall pile up the divided parts, and the head, and the fat on the wood on the fire, the wood which is on the altar. ⁹ And the entrails and the feet they shall wash in water, and the priests shall put all on the altar; it is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, an aroma of sweet savor to the Lord. ¹⁰ And if his gift be of the sheep to the Lord, or of the lambs, or of the kids for a whole burnt offering, he shall bring a male without blemish. ¹¹ And he shall lay his hand on its head; and they shall kill it by the side of the altar, toward the north before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron the priests shall pour its blood on the altar round about. ¹² And they shall divide it by its limbs, and its head and its fat, and the priests shall pile them up on the wood which is on the fire, on the altar. ¹³ And they shall wash the entrails and the feet with water, and the priest shall bring all the parts and put them on the altar: it is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, an aroma of sweet savor to the Lord. ¹⁴ And if he bring his gift, a burnt offering to the Lord, of birds, then shall he bring his gift of doves or pigeons. ¹⁵ And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and shall wring off its head; and the priest shall put it on the altar, and shall wring out the blood at the bottom of the altar. ¹⁶ And he shall take away the crop with the feathers, and shall cast it forth by the altar toward the east, to the place of the ashes. ¹⁷ And he shall break it off from the wings and shall not separate it, and the priest shall put it on the altar on the wood which is on the fire: it is a burnt offering, a sacrifice, a sweet-smelling savor to the Lord.

¹ And if his gift to the Lord be a peace-offering, if he should bring it of the oxen, whether it be male or whether it be female, he shall bring it unblemished before the Lord. ² And he shall lay his hands on the head of the gift, and shall slay it before the Lord, by the doors of the tabernacle of witness. And the priests the sons of Aaron shall pour the blood on the altar of burnt offerings round about. ³ And they shall bring of the peace-offering a burned sacrifice to the Lord, the fat covering the belly, and all the fat on the belly. ⁴ And the two kidneys and the fat that is upon them; he shall take away that which is on the thighs, and the fatty lobe above the liver together with the kidneys. ⁵ And the priests the sons of Aaron shall offer them on the altar on the burnt offering, on the wood which is on the fire upon the altar: it is a burnt offering, an aroma of sweet savor to the Lord. ⁶ And if his gift be of the sheep, a peace-offering to the Lord, male or female, he shall bring it unblemished. ⁷ If he bring a lamb for his gift, he shall bring it before the Lord. ⁸ And he shall lay his hands on the head of his offering, and shall slay it by the doors of the tabernacle of witness; and the priests, the sons of Aaron, shall pour out the blood on the altar round about. ⁹ And he shall bring of the peace-offering a burnt sacrifice to the Lord: the fat and the hinder part unblemished he shall take away with the loins, and having taken away all the fat that covers the belly, and all the fat that is on the belly, ¹⁰ and both the kidneys and the fat that is upon them, and that which is on the thighs, and the fatty lobe which is on the liver with the kidneys, ¹¹ the priest shall offer these on the altar: it is a sacrifice of sweet savor, a burnt offering to the Lord. ¹² And if his offering be of the goats, then shall he bring it before the Lord. ¹³ And he shall lay his hands on its head; and they shall slay it before the Lord by the doors of the tabernacle of witness; and the priests, the sons of Aaron, shall pour out the blood on the altar round about. ¹⁴ And he shall offer of it a burnt offering to the Lord, even the fat that covers the belly, and all the fat that is on the belly. ¹⁵ And both the kidneys, and all the fat that is upon them, that which is upon the thighs, and the fatty lobe of the liver with the kidneys, shall he take away. ¹⁶ And the priest shall offer it upon the altar: it is a burnt offering, an aroma of sweet savor to the Lord. ²⁴ The Lord bless you and keep you; ²⁵ the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and have mercy upon you; ²⁶ the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. ²⁷ And they shall put My name upon the children of Israel, and I the Lord will bless them.

¹³ And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; and He will bless the offspring of your body, and the fruit of your land, your grain, your wine, your oil, your herds of oxen, and the flocks of your sheep, on the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to give to you.

⁵ But in the place which the Lord your God shall choose in one of your cities to name His name there, and to be called upon, you shall even seek Him out and go there.

¹¹ And there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose for His name to be called there, from which shall you bring all things that I order you this day; your whole burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the firstfruits of your hands, and every choice gift of yours, whatsoever you shall vow to the Lord your God.

²¹ And if the place be far from you, which the Lord your God shall choose for Himself, that His name be called upon it, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock which God shall have given you, even as I commanded you, and you shall eat in your cities according to the desire of your soul.

²³ And you shall eat it in the place which the Lord your God shall choose to have His name called there; you shall bring the tithe of your grain and of your wine, and of your oil, the firstborn of your herd and of your flock, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.

⁵ You shall not have power to sacrifice the Passover in any of the cities, which the Lord your God gives you. ⁶ But in the place which the Lord your God shall choose, to have His name called there, you shall sacrifice the Passover at even at the setting of the sun, at the time when you came out of Egypt.

¹¹ And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son, and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow which dwells among you, in whatsoever place the Lord your God shall choose, that His name should be called there.

² that you shall take of the first of the fruits of your land, which the Lord your God gives you, and you shall put them into a basket, and you shall go to the place which the Lord your God shall choose to have His name called there.

¹² And it was reported to King David, saying, The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he has, because of the ark of the Lord. And David went, and brought up the ark of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.

²⁹ that Your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place which You said, My name shall be there, to hear the prayer which Your servant prays at this place day and night.

⁴³ then shall You hear them from heaven, out of Your established dwelling place, and You shall do according to all that the stranger shall call upon You for, that all the nations may know Your name, and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and may know that Your name has been called on this house which I have built.

³ And the Lord said to him, I have heard the voice of your prayer, and your supplication which you have made before Me. I have done for you according to all your prayer; I have hallowed this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart shall be there always.

⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem that My name should be there; and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.

¹⁶ And now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name should be there forever; and My eyes and My heart shall be there always.

¹³ So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned. And Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, in the city which the Lord chose out of all the tribes of the children of Israel, to call His name there; and his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

¹² And may the God whose name dwells there, overthrow every king and people who shall stretch out his hand to alter or destroy the house of God which is in Jerusalem. I, Darius have made a decree; let it be diligently attended to.

⁹ But if you turn again to Me, and keep My commandments, and do them; if you should be scattered to the uttermost parts of heaven, yet will I gather them from there, and I will bring them into the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.

⁷ They have burned Your sanctuary with fire to the ground; they have profaned the habitation of Your name.

² And His place has been in peace, and His dwelling place in Zion.

⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which He loved.

⁵ May the Lord bless you out of Zion; and may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life

¹³ For the Lord has elected Zion, He has chosen her for a habitation for Himself, saying, ¹⁴ This is My rest forever: here will I dwell; for I have chosen it.

³ May the Lord, who made heaven and earth, bless you out of Zion.

¹⁰ so that it is evil with you; yet have you come, and stood before Me in the house which is called by My name, and you have said, We have refrained from doing all these abominations. ¹¹ Is My house, which is called by My name, a den of robbers in your eyes? And behold, I have seen it, says the Lord. ¹² For go to My place which is in Shiloh, where I caused My name to dwell before, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun, even to the going down thereof, My name has been glorified among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered to My name, and a pure offering: for My name is great among the Gentiles, says the Lord Almighty.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

²⁰ teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

²⁰ Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship." ²¹ Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. ²² You worship what you do not know; we Jews worship what we know, because salvation is of the Jews. ²³ But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. ²⁴ God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

⁸ I desire therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

⁵ And you shall build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; you shall not lift up iron upon it. ⁶ Of whole stones shall you build an altar to the Lord your God, and you shall offer upon it whole burnt offerings to the Lord your God.

³¹ as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the law of Moses, an altar of unhewn stones, on which iron had not been lifted up; and he offered there whole burnt offerings to the Lord, and a peace offering.

³ And Moses said to Aaron, This is the thing which the Lord spoke, saying, I will be sanctified among them that draw near to Me, and I will be glorified in the whole congregation; and Aaron was pricked in his heart.

⁷ God is glorified in the council of the saints; great and terrible toward all that are round about Him.

¹ Keep your foot, whenever you go to the house of God; and when you are near to hear, let your sacrifice be better than the gift of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil.

²⁸ Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. ²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."
