¹⁷ then shall the two men between whom the controversy is, stand before the Lord, and before the priests, and before the judges, who may be in those days. ¹⁸ And the judges shall make diligent inquiry; and behold, if an unjust witness has borne unjust testimony, and has stood up against his brother,

²¹ Your eye shall not spare him; you shall exact life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and foot for foot.

⁷ And what man is there that has betrothed a wife, and has not taken her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.

¹ And if one should be found slain with the sword in the land, which the Lord your God gives you to inherit, having fallen in the field, and they do not know who has killed him, ² then your elders and your judges shall come forth, and shall measure the distances of the cities round about the slain man. ³ And it shall be that the city which is nearest to the slain man, the elders of that city shall take a heifer of the herd, which has not labored, and which has not borne a yoke. ⁴ And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer into a rough valley, which has not been tilled and is not sown, and they shall slay the heifer in the valley. ⁵ And the priests, the Levites, shall come near, because the Lord God has chosen them to stand by Him, and to bless in His name, and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be decided. ⁶ And all the elders of that city who draw near to the slain man shall wash their hands over the head of the heifer which was slain in the valley; ⁷ and they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, and our eyes have not seen it. ⁸ Be merciful to Your people Israel, O Lord, whom You have redeemed, that innocent blood may not be charged on Your people Israel; and atonement shall be provided on their behalf for the blood. ⁹ And you shall take away innocent blood from among you, if you should do that which is good and pleasing before the Lord your God.

¹¹ and should see among the spoil a woman beautiful in countenance, and should desire her, and take her to yourself for a wife, ¹² and should bring her within your house; then shall you shave her head, and trim her nails, ¹³ and shall take away her garments of captivity from off her, and she shall abide in your house, and shall mourn her father and mother for a full month; and afterwards you shall go in to her and dwell with her, and she shall be your wife. ¹⁴ And it shall be if you do not delight in her, you shall send her out free; and she shall not by any means be sold for money, you shall not treat her contemptuously, because you have humbled her.

¹⁸ And if any man has a disobedient and contentious son, who hearkens not to the voice of his father and the voice of his mother, and they should correct him, and he should not hearken to them; ¹⁹ then shall his father and his mother take hold of him, and bring him forth to the elders of his city, and to the gate of the place; ²⁰ and they shall say to the men of their city, This our son is disobedient and contentious, he hearkens not to our voice, he is a reveler and a drunkard. ²¹ And the men of his city shall stone him with stones, and he shall die; and you shall remove the evil one from yourselves, and the rest shall hear and fear.

¹⁸ And the elders of that city shall take that man, and shall chastise him, ¹⁹ and shall fine him a hundred shekels, and shall give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought forth an evil name against a virgin of Israel; and she shall be his wife: he shall never be able to put her away.

⁷ And if a man should be caught stealing one of his brethren of the children of Israel, and having overcome him he should sell him, that thief shall die; so shall you remove that evil one from yourselves.

¹¹ And if men should fight together, a man with his brother, and the wife of one of them should advance to rescue her husband out of the hand of him that strikes him, and she should stretch forth her hand, and take hold of his private parts;

In the Septuagint, Psalms 9 and 10 are combined, and the Psalm numbers differ from this point on. The Apostles' Bible follows the traditional Psalm divisions, to avoid confusion.

¹³ And spare Your servant from the attack of strangers; if they do not gain the dominion over me, then shall I be blameless, and I shall be clear from great sin.

¹¹ Judah has been forsaken, and an abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holy things of the Lord, which He delighted in, and has gone after other gods. ¹² The Lord will utterly destroy the man that does these things, until he be even cast down from out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and from among them that offer sacrifice to the Lord Almighty. ¹³ And these things which I hated, you did: you covered with tears the altar of the Lord, and with weeping and groaning because of troubles: is it right for Me to have respect for your sacrifice, or to receive anything from your hands as welcome? ¹⁴ Yet you said, For what reason? Because the Lord has borne witness between you and the wife of your youth, whom you have forsaken, and yet she was your partner, and the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ And did he not do well? And there was the residue of his spirit. But you said, What does God seek but a seed? But take heed to your own spirit, and forsake not the wife of your youth.

⁴ Remember the law of My servant Moses, accordingly as I charged him with it in Horeb for all Israel, even the commandments and ordinances.

³⁸ "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' ³⁹ But I say to you not to resist an evil person. But whoever shall slap you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. ⁴⁰ And to the one desiring to sue you and to take your tunic, let him have your cloak also.

² For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with what measure you measure, it will be measured back to you.

³ He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God on account of your tradition? ⁴ For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'He who curses father or mother, with death let him die.' ⁵ But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "It is a gift to God, whatever profit you might have received from me"-- ⁶ then by no means should he honor his father or mother.' Thus you have nullified the commandment of God on account of your tradition.

²⁵ But since he had nothing with which to repay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and everything that he had, and to be repaid.

You see to it!" ⁵ And throwing the silver coins in the sanctuary, he departed; and going away, he hanged himself. ⁶ But the chief priests, taking the silver coins said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since they are the price of blood." ⁷ And taking counsel, they bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. ⁸ Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. ⁹ Then was fulfilled the thing spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty coins, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the sons of Israel priced,

²⁰ teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

¹⁰ For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'Whoever speaks evil of father or mother, let him surely die.' ¹¹ But you say, 'If a man says to his father or to his mother, "Whatever you might be profited by me is Corban"--' (that is, a gift),

³⁸ Give, and it shall be given to you: good measure, pressed down and shaken and running over they shall give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it shall be measured back to you."

⁴ For he is God's servant to you for good. But if you do evil, fear; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's servant, an avenger for wrath to the one practicing evil.

²⁰ For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

¹ Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. ² Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. ³ Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. ⁴ The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. ⁵ Do not deprive one another, except by mutual agreement, and that for a season, so that you may devote yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, lest Satan tempt you because of your lack of self-control. ⁶ But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ compels us, having concluded this: that if One died for all, then all died; ¹⁵ and He died for all, so that they who live should live no longer for themselves, but for the One who died for them and rose again.

⁹ And masters, do the same things towards them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

⁷ but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming to be in the likeness of men.

¹ Masters, provide to your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in the heavens.

¹ Finally then, brothers, we request of you and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you should abound more.

⁹ knowing this: that the law is not laid down for the righteous, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for killers of fathers and killers of mothers, for murderers, ¹⁰ for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is opposed to sound doctrine,

²⁶ For if we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

¹⁰ and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are bold, self-willed, illustrious persons, they do not tremble at blaspheming,

⁶ Because they shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You gave them blood to drink. They deserve it."
