²¹ And the people stood afar off, and Moses went into the darkness where God was.

¹⁶ And it came to pass on the third day, as the morning drew nigh, there were voices and lightnings and a dark cloud on Mount Sinai. The voice of the trumpet sounded loud, and all the people in the camp trembled. ¹⁷ And Moses led the people forth out of the camp to meet God, and they stood by under the camp.

⁵ And I stood between the Lord and you at that time to report to you the words of the Lord, (because you were afraid before the fire, and you went not up to the mountain,) saying,

²² These words the Lord spoke to all the assembly of you in the mountain out of the midst of the fire — there was darkness, blackness, a storm, and a loud voice — and He added no more, and He wrote them on two tablets of stone, and He gave them to me.

¹ Then Solomon said, The Lord said that He would dwell in thick darkness.

⁹ And He bowed the heaven, and came down: and thick darkness was under His feet.

¹² At the brightness before Him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.

² Clouds and darkness are round about Him; righteousness and judgment are the establishment of His throne.
