² I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are you all!

⁶ Shall bread be eaten without salt? Or again, is there taste in empty words?

²⁵ But as it seems, the words of a true man are vain, because I do not ask strength of you.

² He that speaks much, should also hear on the other side: or does the fluent speaker think himself to be righteous? Blessed is the short-lived offspring of woman. ³ Be not a speaker of many words, for is there none to answer you?

⁴ But you are all bad physicians, and healers of diseases. ⁵ Oh that you would be silent, and it would be wisdom to you in the end.

² How long will you torment my soul, and destroy me with words? Only know that the Lord has dealt with me thus. ³ You speak against me; you do not feel for me, but bear hard upon me.

² To whom do you attach yourself, or who are you going to assist? Is it not He that has much strength, and He who has a strong arm? ³ To whom have you given counsel? Is it not to Him who has all wisdom? Who will you follow? Is it not the One who has the greatest power?

²⁶ because they persecuted him whom You have smitten; and they have added to the grief of my wounds.

¹⁶ The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;

¹⁹ So then, my beloved brothers, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
