⁴ I also will speak as you do — if indeed your soul were in my soul's place, ^(16:5) then would I insult you with words, and I would shake my head at you!

²¹ This is the word which the Lord has spoken against him; The virgin daughter of Zion has made light of you, and mocked you; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

² Oh that one would indeed weigh the wrath that is upon me, and take up my grief in a balance together! ³ And surely they would be heavier than the sand by the seashore: but, as it seems, my words are vain. ⁴ For the arrows of the Lord are in my body, whose violence drinks up my blood: whenever I am going to speak, they pierce me. ⁵ What then? Will the wild donkey bray for nothing, if he is not seeking food? Or again, will the ox low at the manger, when he has his fodder?

¹⁴ Mercy has rejected me; and the visitation of the Lord has disregarded me.

² He that speaks much, should also hear on the other side: or does the fluent speaker think himself to be righteous? Blessed is the short-lived offspring of woman.

¹⁶ Yet Job vainly opens his mouth, in ignorance he multiplies words.

⁷ All that saw Me mocked Me; they spoke with their lips, they shook the head, saying,

¹⁴ You have made us a proverb among the Gentiles, a shaking of the head among the nations.

²⁵ I became also a reproach to them, when they saw me they shook their heads.

¹⁹ By a multitude of words you shall not escape sin, but if you refrain your lips you will be prudent.

¹⁴ A fool moreover multiplies words. No man knows what has been, nor what will be. Who shall tell him what will come after him?

¹⁶ to make their land a desolation, and a perpetual hissing. All that go through it shall be amazed, and shall shake their heads.

¹⁵ ( { ρ}) SAMECH. All that go by the way have clapped their hands at you; they have hissed and shaken their head at the daughter of Jerusalem. Is this the city, they say, the crown of joy of all the earth?

^{15 (3:1)} This is the scornful city that dwells securely, that says in her heart, I am, and there is no longer any to be after me: how has she become desolate, and a habitation of wild beasts! Everyone that passes through her shall hiss, and shake their hands in contempt.

¹² Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, thus also you do to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

³⁹ And those passing by were blaspheming Him, shaking their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross."

¹⁵ Rejoice with those that rejoice, and weep with those that weep.

²⁶ And if one part suffers, all the parts suffer together; or if one part is honored, all the parts rejoice together.
