³ And Elimelech, Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.

¹ And one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor has come to take my two sons to be his servants.

¹⁹ Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but out of them all the Lord shall deliver them.

⁶ For whom the LORD loves He disciplines, and scourges every son whom He receives."

¹⁰ For they indeed for a few days were disciplining us, as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, in order to partake of His holiness. ¹¹ Now no discipline seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, later it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those having been trained by it.
