Deuteronomy 16:19 Cross References - CLV

¹⁹ You shall not turn aside the judgment; you shall neither recognize faces in partiality nor take a bribe, for the bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the words of the righteous.

² You shall not come after the many to do evil, and you shall not respond in a contention to turn aside after the many, to turn aside judgment.

⁶ You shall not turn aside the judgment of your needy in his contention. ⁷ From a false matter you shall be far; and the innocent and the righteous one you must not kill, for I shall not justify the wicked one. ⁸ You shall not take a bribe, for the bribe is blinding the unclosed eyes and is subverting the words of the righteous.

¹⁵ You shall not do iniquity in judgment; you shall not lift up the face of the poor nor honor the face of the great. In righteousness shall you judge your companion.

¹⁶ And I instructed your judges at that time, saying:You are to hear the disputes between your brothers, and you will judge justly between a man and his brother or his sojourner. ¹⁷ You shall not recognize faces with partiality in judgment. You shall hear the small as the great. You shall not shrink away from any man's face, because the judgment, it is Elohim's. And the matter which is too hard for you, you shall bring near to me that I may hear it.

¹⁷ For Yahweh your Elohim, He is the Elohim of elohim and the Lord of lords, the El, the great, the masterful and the fear-inspiring One, Who neither lifts up faces in partiality nor takes a bribe,

¹⁷ You shall not turn aside the judgment of the sojourner or orphan; and you shall not take the garment of a widow as a pledge.

¹⁹ Cursed be the one turning aside the judgment of the sojourner, the orphan or the widow. Then all the people will say:Amen!"

³ and his sons have not walked in his ways, and turn aside after the dishonest gain, and take a bribe, and turn aside judgment.

³ `Lo, here [am] I; testify against me, over-against Yahweh, and over-against His anointed; whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I oppressed; whom have I bruised, and of whose hand have I taken a ransom, and hide mine eyes with it? --and I restore to you..

²¹ If I have waved my hand against the orphan Because I saw my backing was in the gate, ²² Then may my shoulder fall from the shoulder blade, And may my arm be broken from the clavicle.

²³ A wicked man takes a bribe from the bosom To turn aside the paths of right judgment.

²³ These also are sayings of the wise:To be biased in judgment is never good.

²⁸ Do not become a gratuitous witness against your associate, Or would you dupe with your lips?

⁷ Extortion makes a wise man raving, And a bribe destroys the heart."

¹⁷ Leave off the evil! Learn to be good! Inquire for judgment! Make happy the wronged! Judge the orphan! Contend for the widow!

²³ Your chiefs are stubborn, and partners of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe, and pursues payments. The orphan they are not judging. And the contention of the widow is not coming to them."

¹⁵ He who goes in righteousness, and speaks equities, who rejects the gain of extortions, who shakes his palms from upholding a bribe, who contracts his ear from hearkening to blood plans, and restrains his eyes from seeing evil--"

²⁸ They have been fat, they have shone, Yea, they have overpassed the acts of the evil, Judgment they have not judged, The judgment of the fatherless--and they prosper, And the judgment of the needy they have not judged."

¹² A bribe they have taken in you to shed blood, Usury and increase you have taken, And cut off your neighbor by oppression, And Me you have forgotten, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh!"

³ Both palms are set upon the evil to do it thoroughly:The chief is asking, also the judge, for a repayment, and the great one, he is speaking the woe of his soul. And they are entwining it."

⁴ Therefore the law is torpid, and judgment is not faring forth permanently, for the wicked one is compassing about the righteous one; therefore tortuous judgment is faring forth."

³ Her chiefs within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they pick clean, leaving nothing for the morning." ⁴ Her prophets are ebullient, treacherous mortals; her priests profane the holy place; they wrong the law." ⁵ Yahweh is righteous in her midst; He will not do iniquity; morning by morning He will give His judgment for light; He is not deranged. Yet the iniquitous one is not knowing shame.

³⁴ Now Peter, opening his mouth, said, "Of a truth I am grasping that God is not partial,

³⁷ Yet Paul averred to them, "Lashing us in public, uncondemned, men belonging to the Romans, they cast us into jail, and now they are ejecting us surreptitiously! No! But let them come themselves and lead us out!"

³ Then Paul said to him, "God is about to beat you, whitewashed wall! And you are sitting to judge me according to the law, and illegally are you ordering me to be beaten!"
