⁷ For they are sowing the wind, and they shall reap the sweeping whirlwind. There is no raised grain for him; the sprout shall fail to yield meal; perhaps it shall yield, but then aliens shall swallow it down."

³³ A people you do not know shall devour the fruit of your ground and all your labor, and you will surely be extorted and bruised all the days,

³ And it has been, if Israel has sowed, that Midian has come up, and Amalek, and the sons of the east, yea, they have come up against him, ⁴ and encamp against them, and destroy the increase of the land till your entering Gaza; and they leave no sustenance in Israel, either sheep, or ox, or ass;" ⁵ for they and their cattle come up, with their tents; they come in as the fulness of the locust for multitude, and of them and of their cattle there is no number, and they come into the land to destroy it. ⁶ And Israel is very weak from the presence of Midian, and the sons of Israel cry unto Yahweh.

³ and the anger of Yahweh burns against Israel, and He gives them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad son of Hazael, all the days. ⁴ And Jehoahaz appeases the face of Yahweh, and Yahweh hearkens unto him, for He has seen the oppression of Israel, for oppressed them has the king of Aram, -. ⁵ and Yahweh gives to Israel a saviour, and they go out from under the hand of Aram, and the sons of Israel dwell in their tents as heretofore;" ⁶ only, they have not turned aside from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, that he caused Israel to sin, therein they walked, and also, the shrine has remained in Samaria, -. ⁷ for he left not to Jehoahaz of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram has destroyed them, and makes them as dust for threshing.

¹⁹ Pul king of Asshur has come against the land, and Menahem gives to Pul a thousand talents of silver, for his hand being with him to strengthen the kingdom in his hand.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel has Tiglath-Pileser king of Asshur come, and takes Ijon, and Abel-Beth-Maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removes them to Asshur.

⁸ Just as I have seen, those who plow lawlessness And those who sow misery are harvesting it.

⁸ He who sows iniquity shall reap sorrow, And the club of his rage shall fail."

¹⁶ This too is a travailing evil; Exactly as he came, so shall he go, And what advantage is it to him since he toiled for wind?

¹¹ In a day you will force your plant to grow rank, and in the morning you will cause your seed to bud. Yet the harvest will flit in a day of illness, and mortal pain will be allotted you for your sons."

¹⁵ For, behold! Yahweh shall come with fire! And as a sweeping whirlwind are His chariots, to return with fury, His anger, and His rebuke in blazes of fire."

¹³ They sowed wheat, and have thorns reaped, They have become sick--they profit not, And they have been ashamed of your increases, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Yahweh."

⁹ Wherefore I will return, and I take My grain in its season and My grape juice in its appointment. And I rescue My wool and My flax given to cover her nakedness."

⁹ Aliens devour his vigor, yet he does not know. Moreover, grey hair sprinkles on him, yet he does not know."

¹² Sow for yourselves for righteousness and reap the fruit of kindness. Till tillage for yourselves. Then is the season to inquire for Yahweh, until He shall come and direct righteousness to you." ¹³ You plow wickedness; iniquity you reap. You eat the fruit of dissimulation, for you trust in your chariots, in the multitude of your masters."

³ Yahweh is slow to anger, and great in vigor, and verily He will not make innocent. Yahweh has His way in the sweeping whirlwind and in the horror, and a cloud is the dust of His feet."

⁷ Be not decived, God is not to be sneered at, for whatsoever a man may be sowing, this shall he be reaping also,
