¹ Bows Bel! Stoops Nebo! Their grief fetishes have come to be for the animal, and for the beast are your carriers laden. Their announcings are a load for the faint." ² They stoop. They bow together, and cannot escape the load, and their soul goes into captivity." ³ Hearken to Me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, My lading from the belly, and carried from My womb." ⁴ And till old age I am He, and till gray hairs shall I be burdened, I made, and I am bearing. And I will be burdened, and make you escape." ⁵ To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal, and compare Me, and we shall be alike? ⁶ Squanderers of gold from a purse, and silver, with reed scales will they weigh. They will hire a refiner and he will make of it an el. And they will fall on their knees and face. Indeed, they will worship!" ⁷ And they will bear it on a shoulder, they shall be burdened with it. And they will leave it on its bottom, then it is standing. From its place it is not being removed. Indeed, he is crying to it, yet it is not answering. From his distress it will not save him." ⁸ Remember this and be on fire. Recall it to heart, transgressors." ⁹ Remember the first things from the eon, for I am the El, and there is no further Elohim, and the limit is as Me." ¹⁰ Telling from the beginning, the hereafter, and from aforetime, what has not yet been done. Saying, `All My counsel shall be confirmed, and all My desire will I do.'" ¹¹ Calling from the sunrise, a bird of prey, from a land far off, the man of My counsel. Indeed, I speak! Indeed, I will bring it about! I formed. Indeed, I will do it." ¹² Hearken to Me, sturdy of heart, far from righteousness." ¹³ I bring near My righteousness. And it shall not be far. And My salvation shall not delay. And I bestow, in Zion, salvation for Israel, My beauty."

¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt in this night and smite every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from human even unto beast, and on all the elohim of Egypt I shall execute judgments; I am Yahweh.

³ And the Ashdodites rise early on the morrow, and lo, Dagon is fallen on its face to the earth, before the ark of Yahweh; and they take Dagon, and put it back to its place.

²⁰ In that day humanity shall fling its forbidden idols of silver, and its forbidden idols of gold, which they make for it to worship, to the mole rats, and to the bats,

⁹ And behold this! Coming is a chariot with men, a pair of horsemen! And he is responding and saying, `Fallen! Fallen is Babylon! And all the carvings and her forbidden idols are broken to the earth.'"

⁶ Each man is helping his associate, and to his brother is he saying, `Courage!'" <sup>7</sup> And the artificer is encouraging the refiner, the apportioner with the sledge, the hammerer on the anvil. One says of the soldering, `It is good!' And one is fortifying it with nails that it will not slip."

⁵ As a palm they [are] stiff, and they speak not, They are surely borne, for they step not, Be not afraid of them, for they do no evil, Yea, also to do good is not in them."

¹ Concerning Moab:`Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Woe unto Nebo, for it is spoiled, Put to shame, captured has been Kiriathaim, Put to shame has been the high tower, Yea, it has been broken down." ² There is no more praise of Moab, In Heshbon they devised against it evil:Come, and we cut it off from [being] a nation, Also, O Madmen, you are cut off, After you goes a sword." ³ A voice of a cry [is] from Horonaim, Spoiling and great destruction." ⁴ Destroyed has been Moab, Caused a cry to be heard have her little ones." ⁵ For the ascent of Luhith with weeping, Go up does weeping, For in the descent of Horonaim Adversaries a cry of desolation have heard." ⁶ Flee you, deliver yourselves, You are as a naked thing in a wilderness." ⁷ For, because of your trusting in your works, And in your treasures, even you are captured, And gone out has Chemosh in a removal, His priests and his heads together." ⁸ And come in does a spoiler unto every city, And no city does escape, And perished has the valley, And destroyed been the plain, as Yahweh said." ⁹ Give wings to Moab, for she utterly goes out, And her cities are for a desolation, Without an inhabitant in them." ¹⁰ Cursed [is] he who is doing the work of Yahweh slothfully, And cursed [is] he Who is withholding his sword from blood." ¹¹ Secure is Moab from his youth, And at rest [is] he for his preserved things, And he has not been emptied out from vessel unto vessel, And into captivity he has not gone, Therefore has his taste remained in him, And his fragrance has not been changed." ¹² Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Yahweh, And I have sent to him wanderers, And they have caused him to wander, And his vessels they empty out, And his bottles they dash in pieces." ¹³ And ashamed has been Moab because of Chemosh, As the house of Israel have been ashamed Because of Beth-El their confidence." ¹⁴ How do you say, We [are] mighty, And men of strength for battle? ¹⁵ Spoiled is Moab, and her cities has one gone up, And the choice of its young men Have gone down to slaughter, An affirmation of the King, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name." ¹⁶ Near is the calamity of Moab to come, And his affliction has hasted exceedingly." ¹⁷ Bemoan for him, all you round about him, And all knowing his name, say you:How has it been broken, the staff of strength, The rod of beauty." ¹⁸ Come down from honor, sit in thirst, O inhabitant, daughter of Dibon, For a spoiler of Moab has come up to you, He has destroyed your fenced places." ¹⁹ On the way stand, and watch, O inhabitant of Aroer, Ask the fugitive and escaped, Say, What has happened? ²⁰ Put to shame has been Moab, For it has been broken down, Howl and cry, declare you in Arnon, For spoiled is Moab, ²¹ And judgment has come in unto the land of the plain--unto Holon, And unto Jahazah, and on Mephaath, ²² And on Dibon, and on Nebo, And on Beth-Diblathaim, and on Kirathaim, ²³ And on Beth-Gamul, and on Beth-Meon, ²⁴ And on Kerioth, and on Bozrah, And on all cities of the land of Moab, The far off and the near." ²⁵ Cut down has been the horn of Moab, And his arm has been broken, An affirmation of Yahweh."

² `Declare you among nations, and sound, And lift up an ensign, sound, do not hide, Say you:Captured has been Babylon, Put to shame has been Bel, Broken has been Merodach, Put to shame have been her grievous things, Broken have been her idols."

⁴⁴ And I have seen after Bel in Babylon, And I have brought forth that which he swallowed--from his mouth, And flow no more unto him do nations, Also the wall of Babylon has fallen."

⁴⁷ Therefore, lo, days are coming, And I have seen after the graven images of Babylon. And all its land is ashamed, And all its pierced ones do fall in its midst."

⁵² Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Yahweh, And I have seen after its graven images, And in all its land groan does the wounded."

¹⁷ yea, the five men, those going to traverse the land, go up--they have come in thither--they have taken the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image--and the priest is standing at the opening of the gate, and the six hundred men who are girded with weapons of war-. ¹⁸ yea, these have entered the house of Micah, and take the graven image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image; and the priest said unto them, `What are you doing?.

²⁴ And he said, `My elohims which I made you have taken, and the priest, and you go; and what to me more? and what [is] this you say unto me, What--to you!.

²¹ And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

¹⁸ lest Hezekiah shall incite you, saying, "Yahweh will rescue you.Did the elohim of the nations rescue any man's land from the hand of the king of Assyria? ¹⁹ Where are the elohim of Hamath and Arphad? Where are the elohim of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivah? And where are the elohim of the land of Samaria? And when have they rescued Samaria from my hand?

¹² Have the elohim of the nations rescued them, those who my forefathers ruined, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden who were in Thelassar, the land of Teman?

¹⁹ and put their elohim into the fire, for no elohim are they, but rather the make of human hands, wood and stone, and they are destroying them."

¹⁷ And the remnant of it he makes into an el. To a decaying tree, to it is he falling on his knees and face. And he is worshiping, and praying to it, and saying, `Rescue me, for my el are you!'"

²⁰ Convene and come! Close yourselves and arrive, delivered of the nations! They do not know, those carrying the wood, their carving, and praying to an el who is not a saviour."

¹² And I have kindled a fire in the houses of the elohims of Egypt, and it has burned them, and he has taken them captive, and covered himself with the land of Egypt, as cover himself does the shepherd with his garment, and he has gone forth thence in peace;" ¹³ and he has broken the standing pillars of the house of the sun, that [is] in the land of Egypt, and the houses of the elohims of Egypt he does burn with fire.'"

⁷ For, because of your trusting in your works, And in your treasures, even you are captured, And gone out has Chemosh in a removal, His priests and his heads together."

⁵ The tabernaclers of Samaria will be stirred up for the heifer of Beth-aven, for its people mourn over it, and its dervishes are exulting over it, over its glory, for it is deported from it." ⁶ Moreover, it shall be fetched to Assyria, a present to king Jareb. Ephraim shall take shame, and Israel shall be ashamed because of its counsel."

⁴ You have seen what I did to the Egyptians when I bore you on vultures' wings and brought you to Myself.

³¹ and in the wilderness where you saw how Yahweh your Elohim carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way you went until you came to this place.

¹¹ As a vulture rouses up its nest, hovers over its fledglings, spreads its wings, takes it, bears it on its pinions, ¹² thus Yahweh alone guided him, and with him was no foreign el;"

⁹ Indeed You were the One rushing me forth from the belly, Causing me to trust on my mother's breasts." ¹⁰ On You was I flung from the womb; From my mother's belly, You have been my El."

⁶ By You have I been supported from the belly; From the internal parts of my mother, You have been my Strength. In You is my praise continually."

⁸ Hear, My people, and I will testify among you; O Israel, if you would but hearken to Me;" ⁹ An alien el shall not come among you, And you shall not bow down to a foreign el." ¹⁰ I, Yahweh, am your Elohim, Who brought you up from the country of Egypt; Open wide your mouth, and I shall fill it." ¹¹ Yet My people would not hearken to My voice, And Israel would not comply with Me." ¹² So I let them go in the obduracy of their own heart; They went in their own counsels. ¹³ O that My people were hearkening to Me, And Israel were walking in My ways!"

⁹ Unless Yahweh of hosts reserves for us a few survivors, as Sodom would we become, and to Gomorrah would we be likened."

²² For, should the people of Israel come to be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved among them. The conclusion decided shall be overflowing with righteousness,

¹¹ And it comes, in that day, Yahweh will proceed to lift up His hand, to be zealous for the remnant of His people which will remain, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Babylon, and from Pathros, and from Ethiopia, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from Arabia, and from the coastlands of the sea."

⁴ Perhaps Yahweh, your Elohim, will hear the words of the grand cupbearer, whom the king of Assyria, his lord, sends to reproach the living Elohim, and He will correct him, in view of the words which Yahweh, your Elohim, hears, and you will lift up a prayer to Yahweh, your Elohim, about the remnant that is being found in this city.'"

¹ And now hear, Jacob, My servant, and Israel, whom I chose in him." ² Thus says Yahweh Elohim, your Maker, and your Former from the belly, and your Helper:"You must not fear, My servant Jacob, and you Upright one whom I choose in him."

²¹ Remember these things, Jacob and Israel, for My servant are you. I formed you. A servant of Mine are you, Israel. You shall not be oblivious of Me."

¹² Hearken to Me, sturdy of heart, far from righteousness."

¹ Hear this, house of Jacob, called by the name of Israel, and those who from the waters of Judah fare forth, those swearing by the name of Yahweh, and the Elohim of Israel are mentioning, not in truth, and not in righteousness,

¹⁷ Thus says Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, "I, Yahweh, your Elohim, will teach you to benefit, causing you to tread in the way in which you shall go." ¹⁸ O that you attended to My instructions! Then your welfare will become as a stream, and your righteousness as billows of the sea."

¹ Hearken, you coastlanders, to me! And attend, you folkstems, from afar! Yahweh, from the belly, called me; from the bowels of my mother He mentioned my name." ² And He is constituting my mouth as a sharp sword. In the shadow of His hand He hides me. And He is constituting me a choice arrow. In His quiver He conceals me.

¹ Hearken to Me, pursuers of righteousness! And seekers of Yahweh! Look to the rock whence you were hewn, and to the pierced cistern out of which you were picked."

⁷ Hearken to Me, knowers of righteousness, My people with My law in their heart. You must not fear the reproach of a mortal, and by their taunts you must not be dismayed."

⁹ in all their distress He is not a foe, not an agent or a messenger, but His presence saved them. In His love, and by His sparing, He, He redeems them, and He will transport and assist them all the days of the eon."

⁶ And I do pass over by you, And I see you trodden down in your blood, And I say to you in your blood, Live, And I say to you in your blood, Live." ⁷ A myriad--as the shoot of the field I have made you, And you are multiplied, and are great, And come in with an excellent adornment, Breasts have been formed, and your hair has grown--And you, naked and bare!" ⁸ And I pass over by you, and I see you, And lo, your time [is] a time of loves, And I spread My skirt over you, And I cover your nakedness, And I swear to you, and come in to a covenant with you, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh, And you do become Mine." ⁹ And I do wash you with water, And I wash away your blood from off you, And I anoint you with perfume." ¹⁰ And I clothe you with embroidery, And I shoe you with badger's skin, And I gird you with fine linen, And I cover you with figured silk." ¹¹ And I adorn you with adornments, And I give bracelets for your hands, And a chain for your neck." ¹² And I give a ring for your nose, And rings for your ears, And a crown of beauty on your head." ¹³ And you do put on gold and silver, And your clothing [is] fine linen, And figured silk and embroidery, Fine flour, and honey, and oil you have eaten, And you are very very beautiful, And do go prosperously to the kingdom." ¹⁴ And go forth does your name among nations, Because of your beauty--for it [is] complete, In My honor that I have set upon you, An affirmation of the Lord Yahweh." ¹⁵ And you do trust in your beauty, And go a-whoring because of your renown, And do pour out your whoredoms On every passer by--to him it is." ¹⁶ And you do take of your garments, And do make to you spotted high-places, And do go a-whoring upon them, They are not coming in--nor shall it be!"

¹⁴ For this is Elohim, our Elohim, for the eon and further; He Himself shall lead us for the eons. {Permanent{ "

¹⁸ Even when I am old and greyhaired, O Elohim, do not forsake me, Until I should tell of Your arm of power to the next generation, Of Your masterful deeds to all who shall come."

¹⁴ They shall still produce when greyhaired; They shall be sleek and flourishing,

²⁶ They shall perish, yet You shall stand. All of them shall decay like a cloak; You shall change them like clothing, and they shall pass by." ²⁷ Yet You remain the same, And Your years shall not come to end."

⁴ Who contrives and does these things, calling generations from the beginning? I, Yahweh, the First, and to the last times I am He!"

¹³ Moreover, from the eon I am He, and there is no rescuing from My hand. I will contrive, and who will reverse it?

²⁵ I, I am He Who wipes out your transgressions on My own account, and your sins I will not remember further."

¹⁶ When one hates to send away, says Yahweh, the Elohim of Israel, yet covers wrong by his garment, says Yahweh of hosts, then shall you beware in your spirit and you shall not be treacherous."

⁶ For I, Yahweh your Elohim, do not alter; and you, sons of Jacob, are not finished."

²⁹ For unregretted are the graces and the calling of God.

¹² And, as if clothing, wilt Thou be rolling them up. As a cloak also shall they change. Yet Thou art the same, And Thy years shall not be defaulting."

⁸ Jesus Christ, yesterday and today, is the Same One for the eons also."

¹⁷ All good giving and every perfect gratuity is from above, descending from the Father of lights, in Whom there is no mutation or shadow from revolving motion."

¹¹ Who is like You among the elim, Yahweh? Who is like You, ennobled in holiness, fear-inspiring in praiseworthy deeds, working marvels?

⁸ There are none like You among the elohim, O Yahweh, And there are no deeds like Yours."

⁶ For who in the skies can be appraised with Yahweh? Who is like Yahweh among the sons of the elim?

⁸ O Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, Who is like You, an invincible Yah, With Your faithfulness round about You?

⁵ Who is like Yahweh our Elohim, The One elevated in His dwelling,

¹⁸ Then to whom will you liken El? And what likeness will you arrange for Him?

²⁵ Then to whom will you liken Me, and whose equal will I be?saying is the Holy One."

⁶ Because there is none like You, O Yahweh, Great [are] You, and great Your name in might." ⁷ Who does not fear You, king of the nations? For to You it is becoming, For among all the wise of the nations, And in all their kingdom there is none like You."

¹⁶ Not like these [is] the Portion of Jacob, For framer of all things [is] He, And Israel [is] the rod of His inheritance, Yahweh of Hosts [is] His name."

⁶ Who, being inherently in the form of God, deems it not pillaging to be equal with God,

¹⁵ Who is the Image of the invisible God, Firstborn of every creature,

³ Who, being the Effulgence of His glory and Emblem of His assumption, besides carrying on all by His powerful declaration, making a cleansing of sins, is seated at the right hand of the Majesty in the heights;"

² Then Aaron said to them: Tear off the pendants of gold which are in the ears of your wives, your sons and your daughters, and bring them to me. ³ So all the people tore off the pendants of gold which were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. ⁴ He took it from their hands and formed it with a stylus and made of it a molten calf. And they said: These are your elohim, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

³ And he gives back the eleven hundred silverlings to his mother, and his mother said, `I had certainly sanctified the silver to Yahweh, from my hand, for my son, to make a graven image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to you.. ⁴ And he gives back the money to his mother, and his mother takes two hundred silverlings, and gives them to a refiner, and he makes them a graven image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.

²⁸ And the king takes counsel, and makes two calves of gold, and said unto them, `Enough to you of going up to Jerusalem; lo, your elohims, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt..

⁸ And their land is filling with forbidden idols, the make of their hands. They are worshiping that which they make with their fingers."

¹⁹ A carving? That which is made, or is cast by an artificer, and a refiner with gold is stamping it, and chains of silver he is refining, a likeness is he making it." ²⁰ A provident one will choose a heave approach of wood that will not rot. He will seek for himself a wise artificer, to prepare a carving with no blemish."

¹² Sharpening is the smith the adz, and he contrives to do it in the coals. And with picks is he forming it. And contriving it with the vigor of his arm. Moreover, he is famishing and there is no vigor, and he drinks no water, and is faint." ¹³ The carpenter choosing wood, stretches out a tape. He is drawing the carving with red ochre. He is making it with gouges, and with a circle former is drawing it. And he is making it as a model of a man, as the beauty of a human, to dwell in a house." ¹⁴ He cuts down for himself cedars, and is taking juniper and oak, and the tough is his among the wildwood trees, planted by the Lord, and the downpour is making it grow." ¹⁵ And it comes to be for a human to consume. And he is taking of them for warmth. Indeed, he is igniting it and bakes bread. Indeed, he is contriving an el, and is worshiping it. He makes it a carving and is falling on his knees and face to it." ¹⁶ Half of it he burned up in the fire. And on this half of it he is eating flesh. He is roasting a roast and is satisfied. And by its embers he sits. Indeed, he is warming himself, and is saying, `Aha! I am warm! I see light!'" <sup>17</sup> And the remnant of it he makes into an el. To a decaying tree, to it is he falling on his knees and face. And he is worshiping, and praying to it, and saying, `Rescue me, for my el are you!'" ¹⁸ They do not know, nor are they understanding, for He plasters their eyes, from seeing, and their hearts, from intelligence." ¹⁹ And he is not recalling to his heart, and no knowledge is there, nor understanding to say, "Half of it I burned up in the fire, and, indeed, I baked on its embers bread, roasting flesh and eating. And the rest of it I am making into an abhorrence. To a decaying tree am I falling on my knees and face!"

³ For the statutes of the peoples are vanity, For a tree from a forest has one cut, Work of the hands of an artificer, with an axe, ⁴ With silver and with gold they beautify it, With nails and with hammers they fix it, And it does not stumble."

⁹ Spread-out silver from Tarshish is brought, And gold from Uphaz, Work of an artisan, and of the hands of a refiner, Blue and purple [is] their clothing, Work of the skilful--all of them."

¹⁴ Brutish is every man by knowledge, Put to shame is every refiner by a graven image, For false [is] his molten image. And there is no breath in them."

⁵ As soon as you shall hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the sambuke, the psalteries-- all sorts of music in concert--you shall fall down and worship the golden image that is set up by Nebuchadnezzar the king." ⁶ And whoever shall not fall down and worship, in the same hour shall he be heaved into the midst of the glowing, flaming furnace." ⁷ Wherefore, at the stated time, as all the people are hearing the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the sambuke, the psalteries--all sorts of music in concert--falling down are all the peoples, leagues and language-groups, and worshiping the golden image that is set up by Nebuchadnezzar the king." ⁸ Wherefore, at the stated time, the masters of the Chaldeans draw near and accuse the Jews." ⁹ They respond and are saying to king Nebuchadnezzar, "O lord the king, live for the eons!" ¹⁰ You, O king, promulgate a decree that every mortal that shall hear the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the sambuke, the psalteries--all sorts of music in concert--shall fall down and worship the golden image;" ¹¹ and whoever shall not fall down and worship the golden image shall be heaved into the midst of the glowing, flaming furnace." ¹² Actually, the Jewish masters whom you assigned over the administration of the province of Babylon--Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego--these masters did not act on your decree, O king:Your eloah they are not serving, the golden image that you set up they are not worshipping." ¹³ Then Nebuchadnezzar, disturbed and furious, says to bring hither Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then these Jewish masters are brought hither before the king." ¹⁴ Responding is Nebuchadnezzar and saying to them, "Is it intentional, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, that you are not actually serving my eloah, the golden image that I set up you are not worshiping? ¹⁵ Actually, should you now be ready, then, as soon as you are hearing the sound of the horn, the pipe, the lyre, the sambuke, the psalteries--all sorts of music in concert--you shall fall down and worship the golden image that I made. And should you not be ready, you know that if you are not worshiping, in the same hour shall you be heaved into the midst of the glowing, flaming furnace. And who is the eloah that will deliver you from my hands?

⁴ They made kings, yet not from Me; they made chiefs, yet I did not know. Of their silver and their gold they made their grief fetishes, that they may be cut off." ⁵ Cast off your calf, Samaria! Hot is My anger against them. Till when are they being incapable of innocency? ⁶ For even this is from Israel; an artificer made it, and no Elohim is it, for backslidings are coming to be by your calf, Samaria."

¹⁸ What does a carving benefit, that its former has carved it? A molten image and a false apparition, that the former of its form trusts in it, to make mute forbidden idols? ¹⁹ Woe to him saying to the wood, Awake! Rouse! To the still stone, Be exalted! It is an apparition; behold it overspread with gold and silver, yet there is no spirit at all within it." ²⁰ Yet Yahweh is in His holy temple! Hist! all the earth, because of His presence!"

²⁹ The race, then, is inherently of God; we ought not to be inferring that the Divine is like gold, or silver, or stone, a sculpture of art and human sentiment."

¹² And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and you cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;" ¹³ and you--you have forsaken Me, and serve other elohims, therefore I add not to save you. ¹⁴ Go and cry unto the elohims on which you have fixed; they--they save you in the time of your adversity.'

²⁶ And they take the bullock that [one] gave to them, and prepare, and call in the name of Baal from the morning even till the noon, saying, `O Baal, answer us!' and there is no voice, and there is none answering; and they leap on the altar that one had made.

⁴⁰ And Elijah said to them, `Catch you the prophets of Baal; let not a man escape of them;' and they catch them, and Elijah brings them down unto the stream Kishon, and does slaughter them there.

³⁸ And he is coming to worship in the house of Nisroch, his elohim, and Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, smite him with the sword. Yet they escape into the land of Ararat, and reigning is Esarhaddon, his son, in his stead."

²⁸ And where [are] your elohims, that you have made to yourself? Let them arise, if they may save you, In the time of your vexation, For--the number of your cities have been your elohims, O Judah,

¹ In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, the king made an image of gold. Its height was sixty cubits and its breadth six cubits. He set it up in Dura valley in the province of Babylon."

⁵ And the mariners are fearing, and they are crying out, each man to his elohim. And they are casting forth the gear, which is in the ship, into the sea, to be lightened of them. And Jonah descended into the recesses of the lower deck, and he is lying down, and is stupefied."

¹⁴ Then they are calling to Yahweh and saying, Oh Yahweh, pray, we must not perish for the soul of this man. And You must not lay on us innocent blood, for You, Yahweh, just as You incline, You do." ¹⁵ And they are lifting Jonah and casting him forth into the sea. And the sea is standing still from its turbulence. ¹⁶ And the men are fearing Yahweh with great fear, and they are sacrificing a sacrifice to Yahweh, and they are vowing vows."

²⁹ O that they were wise; they would proceed intelligently in this; they would understand about their latter days!

⁸ Like them, may their makers become, All who are trusting in them."

¹⁸ They do not know, nor are they understanding, for He plasters their eyes, from seeing, and their hearts, from intelligence." ¹⁹ And he is not recalling to his heart, and no knowledge is there, nor understanding to say, "Half of it I burned up in the fire, and, indeed, I baked on its embers bread, roasting flesh and eating. And the rest of it I am making into an abhorrence. To a decaying tree am I falling on my knees and face!" ²⁰ Grazing on ashes, a trifling heart turns him aside. And he is not rescuing his soul, nor is he saying, "Is not a falsehood in my right hand? ²¹ Remember these things, Jacob and Israel, for My servant are you. I formed you. A servant of Mine are you, Israel. You shall not be oblivious of Me."

⁷ Yet you are saying, `For an eon will I be mistress still!' You do not lay these things to heart; you are not mindful of your hereafter."

⁸ And in one they are brutish and foolish, An instruction of vanities [is] the tree itself."

²⁸ And he sees and turns back, From all his transgressions that he has done, He does surely live, he does not die,

⁵ And now, thus says Yahweh of hosts:Set your heart on your ways."

⁷ Thus says Yahweh of hosts:Set your heart on your ways.

¹⁷ Now, coming to himself, he averred, 'How many of my father's hired men are being cloyed with bread, yet I am perishing here of famine!"

²⁰ Brethren, do not become little children in disposition. But in evil be minors, yet in disposition become mature."

¹⁴ Wherefore He is saying, 'Rouse! O drowsy one, and rise from among the dead, and Christ shall dawn upon you!'"

⁷ Remember the days of the eon; understand the years of generation after generation. Ask your father, and he shall tell you, your elders, and they shall say to you.

²⁶ There is none like the El of Yeshurun:Riding the heavens as your Helper and in His augustness, the skies,

⁷ `You [are] He, O Yahweh Elohim, who did fix on Abraham, and did bring him out from Ur of the Chaldeans, and did make his name Abraham, <sup>8</sup> and did find his heart stedfast before You, so as to make with him the covenant, to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give [it] to his seed. `And You do establish Your words, for You [are] righteous, ⁹ and do see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and their cry have heard by the sea of Suph, ¹⁰ and do give signs and wonders on Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land, for You have known that they have acted proudly against them, and You make to You a name as [at] this day. ¹¹ And the sea You have cleaved before them, and they pass over into the midst of the sea on the dry land, and their pursuers You have cast into the depths, as a stone, into the strong waters. ¹² And by a pillar of cloud You have led them by day, and by a pillar of fire by night, to lighten to them the way in which they go. ¹³ `And on mount Sinai You have come down, even to speak with them from the heavens, and You do give to them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commands. <sup>14</sup> And Your holy sabbath You have made known to them, and commands, and statutes, and law, You have commanded for them, by the hand of Moses Your servant;" <sup>15</sup> and bread from the heavens You have given to them for their hunger, and water from a rock have brought out to them for their thirst, and do say to them to go in to possess the land that You have lifted up Your hand to give to them. <sup>16</sup> `And they and our fathers have acted proudly, and harden their neck, and have not hearkened unto Your commands, ¹⁷ yea, they refuse to hearken, and have not remembered Your wonders that You have done with them, and harden their neck and appoint a head, to turn back to their service, in their rebellion; and You [are] a Eloah of pardons, gracious, and merciful, long-suffering, and abundant in kindness, and have not forsaken them. ¹⁸ `Also, when they have made to themselves a molten calf, and say, this [is] your elohim that brought you up out of Egypt, and do great despisings, <sup>19</sup> and You, in Your abundant mercies, have not forsaken them in the wilderness--the pillar of the cloud has not turned aside from off them by day, to lead them in the way, and the pillar of the fire by night, to give light to them and the way in which they go. <sup>20</sup> `And Your good Spirit You have given, to cause them to act wisely; and Your manna You have not withheld from their mouth, and water You have given to them for their thirst, ²¹ and forty years You have nourished them in a wilderness; they have not lacked; their garments have not worn out, and their feet have not swelled. ²² `And You give to them kingdoms, and peoples, and do apportion them to the corner, and they possess the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan. <sup>23</sup> And their sons You have multiplied as the stars of the heavens, and bring them in unto the land that You have said to their fathers to go in to possess. <sup>24</sup> `And the sons come in, and possess the land, and You humble before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and give them into their hand, and their kings, and the peoples of the land, to do with them according to their pleasure. ²⁵ And they capture fenced cities, and fat ground, and possess houses full of all good, digged-wells, vineyards, and olive-yards, and fruit-trees in abundance, and they eat, and are satisfied, and become fat, and delight themselves in Your great goodness. ²⁶ `And they are disobedient, and rebel against You, and cast Your law behind their back, and Your prophets they have slain, who testified against them, to bring them back unto You, and they do great despisings, <sup>27</sup> and You give them into the hand of their adversaries, and they distress them, and in the time of their distress they cry unto You, and You, from the heavens, do hear, and, according to Your abundant mercies, do give to them saviours, and they save them out of the hand of their adversaries. <sup>28</sup> `And when they have rest, they turn back to do evil before You, and You do leave them in the hand of their enemies, and they rule over them; and they turn back, and call You, and You from the heavens do hear, and do deliver them, according to Your mercies, many times, ²⁹ and do testify against them, to bring them back unto Your law; and they--they have acted proudly, and have not hearkened to Your commands, and against Your judgments have sinned, --which man does and has lived in them--and they give a refractory shoulder, and their neck have hardened, and have not hearkened. ³⁰ `And You draw over them many years, and testify against them by Your Spirit, by the hand of Your prophets, and they have not given ear, and You do give them into the hand of peoples of the lands, <sup>31</sup> and in Your abundant mercies You have not made them a consumption, nor have forsaken them; for a El, gracious and merciful, [are] You. <sup>32</sup> `And now, O our Elohim--El, the great, the mighty, and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness--let not all the travail that has found us be little before You, for our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, and for our prophets, and for our fathers, and for all Your people, from the days of the kings of Asshur unto this day;" ³³ and You [are] righteous concerning all that has come upon us, for truth You have done, and we have done wickedly;" ³⁴ and our kings, our heads, our priests, and our fathers, have not done Your law, nor attended unto Your commands, and to Your testimonies, that You have testified against them;" ³⁵ and they, in their kingdom, and in Your abundant goodness, that You have given to them, and in the land, the large and the fat, that You have set before them, have not served You, nor turned back from their evil doings. ³⁶ `Lo, we--to-day--[are] servants, and the land that You have given to our fathers, to eat its fruit and its good--lo, we [are] servants on it, ³⁷ and its increase it is multiplying to the kings whom You have set over us in our sins; and over our bodies they are ruling, and over our cattle, according to their pleasure, and we [are] in great distress.

¹ {Contemplating, Asaphic{ Do give ear, my people, to my law; Stretch out your ear to the sayings of my mouth." ² I will open my mouth with a proverb; I will utter enigmas from aforetime, ³ Which we have heard, and we know them, And our fathers, they have recounted to us." ⁴ We shall not suppress them from their sons, Recounting to the next generation the praises of Yahweh, And His strength and His marvelous works that He has done." ⁵ For He set up a testimony in Jacob, And He placed a law in Israel, Which He enjoined on our fathers To make them known to their sons, ⁶ That the next generation may know, The sons who shall be born; They shall rise and recount them to their sons." ⁷ Thus they shall place their confidence in Elohim, And they shall not forget all the activity of El, And His instructions shall they preserve." ⁸ Then they shall not become like their fathers, A generation stubborn and rebellious, A generation that had neither established its heart, Nor was its spirit faithful to El." ⁹ The sons of Ephraim, though weaponed archers, They turned back in the day of attack." ¹⁰ They did not keep the covenant of Elohim, And in His law they refused to walk." ¹¹ They forgot all His activity And His marvelous works that He had shown them. ¹² In front of their fathers He had performed a marvel, In the country of Egypt, the field of Zoan:" ¹³ He rent the sea and caused them to pass over, And He made the waters stand up like a waterspout." ¹⁴ He guided them with a cloud by day, And all the night with a light of fire." ¹⁵ He rent rocks in the wilderness And let them drink as from the abyss, abundantly." ¹⁶ He brought forth floods from a crag, And He made the water descend like streams." ¹⁷ Yet they continued still to sin against Him, To rebel against the Supreme in an arid place." ¹⁸ They probed El in their heart By requesting food for their soul. ¹⁹ So they spoke against Elohim; they said, Is El able to arrange a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Behold, He smote the rock, and waters gushed out, And the watercourses overflowed, But is He able to give bread? Or can He prepare meat for His people? ²¹ Wherefore Yahweh heard, and He was enraged, And a fire was ignited against Jacob, And indeed anger ascended against Israel." ²² For they did not believe in Elohim, And they did not trust in His salvation." ²³ Yet He enjoined the skies above, And He opened the double doors of the heavens." ²⁴ He rained on them manna to eat, And He gave them grain of the heavens." ²⁵ Each one ate bread of sturdy ones; He sent provision to them, to satisfaction." ²⁶ He made an east wind to journey in the heavens, And He drove forth a south wind by His strength." ²⁷ So He rained meat on them like soil dust, And the winged flyer like sand of the seas." ²⁸ And He cast them down within His camp, Round about His Grand Tabernacle." ²⁹ They ate and were surfeited exceedingly, And He brought all their yearning to them." ³⁰ Yet they were not alienated from their yearning; Their food was still in their mouth, ³¹ When the anger of Elohim ascended against them; He killed the stoutest of them, And the choice ones of Israel He cut off." ³² In spite of all this they still sinned And believed not in His marvelous works. ³³ So He ended their days in failure, And their years in panic." ³⁴ Whenever He killed them, then they sought after Him, And they returned and sought early for El." ³⁵ Then they remembered that Elohim is their Rock, And El, the Supreme, is their Redeemer." ³⁶ Yet they would entice Him with their mouth And lie to Him with their tongue. ³⁷ Their heart, it was not established before Him, And they were not faithful to His covenant." ³⁸ Yet He was compassionate; He made a propitiatory shelter for depravity, And He did not bring ruin; He acted many times to reverse His anger, And He would not rouse all His fury." ³⁹ He ever remembered that they were flesh, A wind going that is not returning." ⁴⁰ How often they defied Him in the wilderness; They grieved Him in the desolation. ⁴¹ They were again and again probing El, And the Holy One of Israel they set as a mark." ⁴² They did not remember His hand:The day when He ransomed them from the foe, ⁴³ When He placed His signs in Egypt, And His miracles in the field of Zoan." ⁴⁴ He turned their waterways to blood, So they could drink from their flowings no more." ⁴⁵ He sent a mixture of flies among them, and it devoured them, And the frog plague, and it ruined them." ⁴⁶ He gave their crop over to the beetle, And the fruit of their labor to the locust." ⁴⁷ He killed their vine with hail, And their mulberry trees with sleet." ⁴⁸ He closed their livestock over to hail, And their cattle to siroccos." ⁴⁹ He sent upon them the heat of His anger, Rage and menace and distress, A mission of the messengers of perils, ⁵⁰ Who aligned a track for His anger; He did not keep back their soul from death, And He closed their life over to the plague." ⁵¹ Then He smote every firstborn in Egypt, The beginning of virility in the tents of Ham." ⁵² But He made His people to journey like a flock, And He led them like a drove in the wilderness." ⁵³ He guided them, in trust, and they were not afraid, Yet the sea covered their enemies." ⁵⁴ Thus He brought them to His holy territory, This hill country that His right hand had acquired." ⁵⁵ He drove out the nations before them, And He allocated to them their allotment by the line. He enabled Israel's tribes to tabernacle in their tents." ⁵⁶ Yet they probed and defied Elohim, the Supreme, And they did not keep His testimonies." ⁵⁷ They were turned away and treacherous like their fathers; They were warped like a deceptive bow. ⁵⁸ They provoked Him to vexation with their high-places, And they made Him jealous with their carvings." ⁵⁹ Elohim heard, and He was enraged, And He utterly rejected Israel." ⁶⁰ Then He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had made to tabernacle among humanity." ⁶¹ He sent His strength into captivity, And His beauty into the hand of the foe." ⁶² He closed His people over to the sword, And He was enraged with His allotment." ⁶³ Fire devoured their choice young men, And their virgins had no nuptial song." ⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword, Yet their widows could not lament." ⁶⁵ Then Yahweh awoke as from sleep, Like a master jubilant from wine." ⁶⁶ He smote His foes backward; He gave them an eonian reproach. ⁶⁷ He rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim." ⁶⁸ Yet He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loves;" ⁶⁹ And He built His Sanctuary like the heights of heaven, Like the earth that He founded for the eon." ⁷⁰ He chose David, His servant, And He took him from the folds of the flock;" ⁷¹ From following the ewes, He brought him To shepherd Jacob, His people, And Israel, His allotment." ⁷² So he shepherded them in the integrity of his heart, And by the understanding of his palms, he guided them."

¹ Acclaim Yahweh! Call on His Name! Make known His actions among the peoples! ² Sing to Him! Make melody to Him! Meditate on all His marvelous works! ³ Boast in His holy Name! Let the heart of those seeking Yahweh rejoice. ⁴ Seek after Yahweh and His strength; Seek His face continually. ⁵ Remember His marvelous works that He has done, His miracles and the judgments of His mouth, ⁶ O seed of Israel, His servants, Sons of Jacob, His chosen ones." ⁷ He is Yahweh, our Elohim; His judgments are in all the earth." ⁸ He remembers His covenant for the eon, The word He enjoined on a thousand generations, ⁹ That He contracted with Abraham, And by His oath to Isaac." ¹⁰ He ratified it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as a covenant eonian." ¹¹ Saying, To you shall I give the land of Canaan, The region of your allotment." ¹² When they became few adult males in number, Only a few, and sojourners in it, ¹³ Then they walked from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people." ¹⁴ He would not permit any man to exploit them, And on their behalf He reproved kings:" ¹⁵ Saying, You must not touch My anointed ones, And to My prophets you must not do evil!" ¹⁶ He called forth a famine on the earth; He broke off the entire stock of bread. ¹⁷ He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave." ¹⁸ They humbled his feet in fetters; His soul was inserted in iron ¹⁹ Until the era when His word came to pass, When the saying of Yahweh had refined him." ²⁰ The king sent and let him loose; The ruler of the peoples opened his way. ²¹ He constituted him lord over his house And ruler among all his acquisitions, ²² To discipline his chiefs at his soul's desire, So that he should make his elders wise." ²³ Then Israel came down to Egypt, And Jacob sojourned in the country of Ham." ²⁴ Then He made His people exceedingly fruitful And made them more plentiful than their foes. ²⁵ He turned their heart to hate His people, To plot against His servants." ²⁶ He sent Moses, His servant, And Aaron whom He had chosen." ²⁷ He placed the words of His signs before them, And His miracles before the country of Ham." ²⁸ He sent darkness, and it became very dark, And they could not defy His words." ²⁹ He turned their waters to blood, And He put their fish to death." ³⁰ Their country swarmed with frogs, Into the chambers of their kings." ³¹ He spoke, and there came a mixture of flies, Lice in all their territory." ³² He turned their downpours to hail, With fiery bolts blazing in their country." ³³ He smote their vines and their fig trees, And He broke down the trees of their territory." ³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, And the young-locust and they were without number." ³⁵ It devoured all the herbage in their country And devoured the fruit of their ground. ³⁶ Then He smote all the firstborn in their country, The beginning of all their virility." ³⁷ Thus He brought His people forth with silver and gold, And there was no one stumbling among their tribes." ³⁸ Egypt rejoiced at their going forth, For alarm over them had fallen upon them." ³⁹ He spread a cloud as a blanket, And a fire to light up the night." ⁴⁰ They asked, and He brought forth quail, And He satisfied them with bread from the heavens." ⁴¹ He opened a rock, and waters gushed out; They flowed into the arid places as a stream." ⁴² For He was mindful of His holy word With Abraham, His servant, ⁴³ And He brought His people forth with elation, His chosen ones with jubilant song." ⁴⁴ He gave the countries of the nations to them, And they took over the toil of the national groups, ⁴⁵ In order that they should keep His statutes And should preserve His laws. Praise Yah!

⁴ He has made His marvelous works memorable; Gracious and compassionate is Yahweh.

⁹ The former things; behold, they came! And the new things will I tell. Ere they are sprouting, I will announce them to you."

⁵ I am Yahweh Elohim, and there is none else. There is no Elohim except Me. I am belting you, yet you do not know Me." ⁶ That they may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is a limit apart from Me. I am Yahweh Elohim, and there is none else."

¹⁴ Thus says Yahweh of hosts, "The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, mortals of exceptional measure, shall pass over to you and become your servants. After you shall they go. In manacles shall they pass. And to you shall they prostrate, and to you shall they pray:`Yea, among you is the El, and no one else is the limit of the Elohim.'"

¹⁸ For thus says Yahweh, Creator of the heavens; He is the Elohim, and Former of the earth, and its Maker, and He, He established it. He did not create it a chaos. He formed it to be indwelt. "I am Yahweh, and there is none else."

²¹ Tell, and bring them close. Indeed, they shall consult together. Who announced this from aforetime? Hitherto, Who told it? Not I, Yahweh? And no one else is Elohim, apart from Me. An El, just, and a Saviour. And none is there, except Me." ²² Face to Me and be saved, all the limits of the earth, for I am El, and there is none else."

⁵ To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal, and compare Me, and we shall be alike?

¹⁷ For, behold Me creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered, nor shall they come upon the heart."

⁷ Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Yahweh, And they do not say any more, Yahweh lives who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, ⁸ But--Yahweh lives, who brought up, And who brought in, the seed of the house of Israel, From the land of the north, And from all the lands whither I drove them, And they have dwelt on their own ground!"

⁶ We do not hearken to Thy servants the prophets, who speak in Thy name to our kings, our chiefs, our forefathers and to all the people of the land." ⁷ To Thee, my Lord, is righteousness, yet to us is shamefacedness as at this day:To each man of Judah, to the dwellers of Jerusalem, to all the people of Israel, the near and the far, in all the lands where Thou hast expelled them for their offense with which they offend Thee." ⁸ To Thee, Yahweh, is righteousness, yet to us is shamefacedness:To our kings, to our chiefs, to our forefathers, who sin against Thee." ⁹ Of Yahweh our Elohim are compassions and pardons; for we revolt against Him." ¹⁰ We do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh our Elohim, to go in His laws which He sets before us by the hand of His servants the prophets." ¹¹ All Israel--they trespass against Thy law to withdraw so as not to hearken to Thy voice. Hence pouring forth on us is the imprecation and the oath which is written in the law of Moses, the servant of Elohim; for we sin against Him." ¹² Hence He is setting up His words, which He speaks concerning us and concerning our judges who judge us, to bring on us this great evil which is not done under the entire heavens as it is done in Jerusalem." ¹³ According to that which is written in the law of Moses, all this evil comes on us; yet we do not beseech the face of Yahweh our Elohim, so as to turn back from our depravities and to be intelligent in all Thy truth." ¹⁴ Alert is Yahweh over the evil, and He is bringing it on us. Just is Yahweh our Elohim in all His doings which He does; yet we do not hearken to His voice." ¹⁵ And now, my Lord our Elohim, Who brought Thy people forth from the land of Egypt with a steadfast hand, and art making for Thyself a name as at this day; we sin, we are wicked."

¹⁵ And enmity am I setting between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He shall hurt your head and you shall hurt his heel.

² And make you will I into a great nation, and bless you will I and make your name great, and become must you a blessing. ³ And bless those will I who bless you, and those making light of you will I curse. And blessed in you and in your seed are all the families of the ground.

¹⁰ Not withdraw shall the sceptre from Judah, nor a statue-maker's staff from between his feet, till it be that ease shall come to him. And to it shall the expectation of the people be.

²² A fruitful son is Joseph, a fruitful son, joy of my eye, my son, inferior, to me has returned, ²³ and bitter were they with him, and contended and begrudging him were the archers, ²⁴ yet broken in virility is their bow, and slack are the arms of their hands. From the hands of the Sturdy One of Jacob, thence is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel, ²⁵ from the El of your father, and your Helper, and He Who-Suffices, and your Blesser, blessings of the heavens from above, blessings of the submerged chaos reclining beneath, blessings of the breasts and the womb, ²⁶ blessings of your father and your mother. Master are they over the blessings of my mountains, unto the yearning of the eonian hills, coming are they on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the governor of his brothers.

¹⁷ I see him yet not now, I regard him yet not near. A star will tread forth from Jacob; a scepter will arise from Israel, and he will transfix both edges of Moab, and the scalp of all the sons of tumult. ¹⁸ Edom will become a tenancy, even Seir will become a tenancy of its enemies; yet Israel will do ably. ¹⁹ One from Jacob shall hold sway, and will destroy the survivors of the city. ²⁰ When he saw Amalek, he took up his discourse and said:First of the nations was Amalek, yet his hereafter will lead unto perishing. ²¹ When he saw the Kenite, he took up his discourse and said:Perennial is your dwelling, and set high in a crag is your nest. ²² But rather shall Cain come to eradication; how long until Asshur shall capture you? ²³ Then he took up his discourse and said:Woe! Who shall live when El lays it down? ²⁴ And those going forth from the hand of Kittim will humiliate Assyria and humiliate Eber. Yet he, too, will come unto perishing.

²⁴ for Yahweh your Elohim, He is a devouring fire, a jealous El. ²⁵ When you beget sons and sons of sons, and find repose in the land and then become corrupt and make a carving, a physical representation of anything, and do evil in the eyes of Yahweh your Elohim so as to provoke Him to vexatio. ²⁶ I testify against you today by the heavens and the earth, that you shall perish, yea perish quickly off the land where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. You shall not prolong your days on it, for you shall be exterminated, yea exterminated. ²⁷ Yahweh will cause you to scatter among the peoples, and you will remain adult males of a small number among the nations where Yahweh shall lead you. ²⁸ And there you will serve other elohim, the work of human hands, of wood and stone which are neither seeing nor hearing, neither eating nor smelling. ²⁹ Yet from there you will seek Yahweh your Elohim and find Him when you inquire for Him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ In your distress, when all these things find you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice. ³¹ For Yahweh your Elohim is a compassionate El. He shall neither neglect you nor bring ruin on you, nor shall He forget the covenant of your fathers about which He had sworn to them.

¹⁵ It will come to be if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe and to do all His instructions and His statutes that I am enjoining on you today, that all these maledictions will come on you and overtake you. ¹⁶ Cursed be you in the city, and cursed be you in the field. ¹⁷ Cursed be your basket and your kneading-trough. ¹⁸ Cursed be the fruit of your belly, the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beast, the calving of your domestic animals and the lambing of your flock. ¹⁹ Cursed be you in your coming in, and cursed be you in your going forth. ²⁰ Yahweh shall send the curse, the discomfiture and the rebuke on you in every undertaking of your hand that you shall do, until you are exterminated and you perish quickly, in view of the evil of your actions in which you have forsaken Me. ²¹ Yahweh shall cause the plague to cling to you until He finishes you off the ground where you are entering to tenant it. ²² Yahweh shall smite you with attenuation, with fever and inflammation, with hot heat and drought, with blasting and mildew, and they will pursue you until you perish. ²³ Your heavens that are over your head will come to be as copper, and the earth that is beneath you as iron. ²⁴ Yahweh shall make the rain of your land to be dust and soil-drifts; from the heavens it shall descend on you until you are exterminated. ²⁵ Yahweh shall make you to be struck down before your enemies. By a single road shall you go forth to them, and by seven roads shall you flee before them. So you will become an object of commotion to all the kingdoms of the earth. ²⁶ Your carcass will become food for every flyer of the heavens and for the beast of the earth, and there will be no one causing them to tremble. ²⁷ Yahweh shall smite you with the boil of Egypt, with piles, with eczema and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed. ²⁸ Yahweh shall smite you with madness, with blindness and with derangement of heart;" ²⁹ and you will come to be groping at noon just as the blind one gropes in the gloom, and you shall not prosper in your ways and will only become extorted and pillaged all the days, and there will be no saviour. ³⁰ A wife shall you betroth, yet another man shall ravish her. A house shall you build, yet you shall not dwell in it. A vineyard shall you plant, yet you shall not take it for profane use. ³¹ Your bull shall be slaughtered before your eyes, yet you shall not eat of it. Your donkey shall be snatched from before you, yet it shall not return to you. Your flock shall be given to your enemies, yet there will be no saviour for you. ³² Your sons and your daughters shall be given to another people, and your eyes shall be staring and wasting away for them all the day, yet there will be nothing at the disposal of your hand. ³³ A people you do not know shall devour the fruit of your ground and all your labor, and you will surely be extorted and bruised all the days, ³⁴ so that you will become mad because of the sight of your eyes that you shall see. ³⁵ Yahweh shall smite you with an evil boil on both the knees and on both the legs, of which you cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot and unto your scalp. ³⁶ Yahweh shall conduct you and your king, whom you shall set up over you, to a nation whom you have not known, neither you nor your fathers, and you will serve there other elohim of wood and stone. ³⁷ You will become an object of astonishment, a proverb and a byword among all the peoples where Yahweh shall lead you. ³⁸ Much seed shall you bring forth to the field, yet little shall you gather, for the locust shall eat it up. ³⁹ You shall plant vineyards, and you will service them, yet you shall neither drink the wine, nor shall you hoard it, for the worm shall devour it. ⁴⁰ You shall come to have olives in all your territory, yet you shall not rub yourself with oil because your olives shall drop off. ⁴¹ You shall generate sons and daughters, yet they shall not become yours, for they shall go into captivity. ⁴² The cicada shall make all your trees and the fruit of your ground destitute. ⁴³ The sojourner who is among you shall ascend over you upward and upward, yet you shall descend downward and downward. ⁴⁴ He shall obligate you, yet you shall not obligate him. He shall become the head, and you shall become the tail. ⁴⁵ All the maledictions will come on you, and they will pursue you and overtake you until you are exterminated, for you would not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe His instructions and His statutes that He enjoined on you. ⁴⁶ They will be a sign and a miracle against you and your seed until the eon. ⁴⁷ Inasmuch as you would not serve Yahweh your Elohim with rejoicing and with goodness of heart over the abundance of everything, ⁴⁸ then you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh shall send forth against you, in famine and in thirst, in nakedness and in lack of everything. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has exterminated you. ⁴⁹ Yahweh shall lift up against you a nation from afar, from the end of the earth, just as the vulture swoops down, a nation whose tongue you have not heard, ⁵⁰ a nation strong of face who neither lifts the face of the old one with partiality nor is gracious to the youth. ⁵¹ It will devour the fruit of your beast and the fruit of your ground until you are exterminated, a nation who shall not let grain, grape juice or clarified oil, the calving of your domestic animals or the lambing of your flock remain for you, until it destroys you. ⁵² It will lay siege against you in all your gates until your lofty and defended walls in which you will be trusting come down in all your land; and he will lay siege against you in all your gates in all your land that Yahweh your Elohim will have given to you. ⁵³ Then you will eat the fruit of your own belly, the flesh of your sons and your daughters whom Yahweh your Elohim will have given to you, in the siege and in the constraint with which your enemy shall constrain you. ⁵⁴ The tender-hearted man among you and the one very fastidious, his eye shall be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the rest of his sons whom he shall have left, ⁵⁵ so as to keep from giving to one of them the flesh of his sons that he is eating because nothing at all remains for him in the siege and in the constraint with which your enemy shall constrain you in all your gates. ⁵⁶ The tender-hearted woman among you, and the fastidious one, who would not try to put the sole of her foot on the earth because of fastidiousness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ even for her afterbirth coming forth from between her feet, even for her sons whom she is bearing, for she shall eat them for lack of everything, in concealment during the siege and during the constraint with which your enemy shall constrain you in your gates. ⁵⁸ Should you not observe to obey all the words of this law, the ones written in this scroll, to fear the name of this glorified and fear-inspiring One, Yahweh your Elohim, ⁵⁹ then Yahweh will make your smitings and the smitings of your seed extraordinary:smitings that are great and constant, and illnesses that are bad and constant. ⁶⁰ Thus He will bring back to you every disease of Egypt from the presence of which you shrank away, and they will cling to you. ⁶¹ Moreover, every illness and every smiting that is not written in the scroll of this law, Yahweh shall bring them up on you until you are exterminated. ⁶² Thus you will remain few in adult males, whereas you would have become as the stars of the heavens for multitude, for you did not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim. ⁶³ So it will come to be, just as Yahweh was elated over you to bring you good and to let you increase, so Yahweh shall be elated over you to destroy you and to exterminate you, so that you will be swept away off the ground where you are entering to tenant it. ⁶⁴ And Yahweh will scatter you among all the peoples from one end of the earth unto the other end of the earth. There you will serve other elohim, those of wood and stone which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers. ⁶⁵ And among those nations you shall neither find respite, nor shall there be a resting place for the sole of your foot, and Yahweh will give to you there a disturbed heart, a failure of the eyes and pining of the soul. ⁶⁶ Then your lives will come to be hung in suspense in front of you. You will be afraid by night and by day, and you shall not put trust in your lives. ⁶⁷ In the morning you shall say:O that it were evening! And in the evening you shall say:O that it were morning! because of the awe of your heart with which you shall be afraid and because of the sight of your eyes which you shall see. ⁶⁸ Then Yahweh will bring you back complaining to Egypt by the way of which I said to you:You should not again see it further. There you will put yourselves up for sale to your enemies as servants and as maids, yet there will be no buyer.

¹¹ The counsel of Yahweh shall stand for the eon, The designs of His heart for generation after generation."

⁶ All that Yahweh delights He does, In the heavens and on earth, In the seas and every abyss;"

²¹ Many are the designs in a man's heart, Yet the counsel of Yahweh, it shall stand firm."

³⁰ There is no wisdom, there is no comprehension, And there is no counsel in confronting Yahweh."

²² Let them bring them close, and tell us what will happen. The former things, what they were, let them tell. And We will set our heart on them and know their hereafter. Or the coming things announce to Us." ²³ Tell what will arrive hereafter, and we will know that you are elohim. Indeed, you will do good and do evil. Then will we heed and see it together!"

⁷ And who is as I? Stand shall he and call and tell it! And he shall arrange it for Me, from My placing the eonian people! And the things arriving shall he say, and when they will come shall they tell to you."

²¹ Tell, and bring them close. Indeed, they shall consult together. Who announced this from aforetime? Hitherto, Who told it? Not I, Yahweh? And no one else is Elohim, apart from Me. An El, just, and a Saviour. And none is there, except Me."

¹¹ Calling from the sunrise, a bird of prey, from a land far off, the man of My counsel. Indeed, I speak! Indeed, I will bring it about! I formed. Indeed, I will do it."

³⁵ All abiding on the earth are reckoned as naught:According to His will is He doing in the army of the heavens and with those abiding on the earth. And no one will actually clap with his hands and say to Him, "What doest Thou?

²³ Yet it shall be that every soul whatsoever which should not hear that Prophet shall be utterly exterminated from among the people.

²⁷ For of a truth, in this city were gathered against Thy holy Boy Jesus, Whom Thou dost anoint, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the nations and the peoples of Israel, ²⁸ to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel designates beforehand to occur.

³⁹ yet if it is of God, you will not be able to demolish them - lest at some time you may be found fighters against God also."

¹⁸ Known from the eon to the Lord is His work.

³³ O, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How inscrutable are His judgments, and untraceable His ways!" ³⁴ For, who knew the mind of the Lord? or, who became His adviser?

⁹ making known to us the secret of His will (in accord with His delight, which He purposed in Him)" ¹⁰ to have an administration of the complement of the eras, to head up all in the Christ - both that in the heavens and that on the earth" ¹¹ in Him in Whom our lot was cast also, being designated beforehand according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will,

¹⁷ in which God, intending more superabundantly to exhibit to the enjoyers of the allotment of the promise the immutability of His counsel, interposes with an oath,

¹⁹ El is not a man that He should lie. Nor a son of humanity that He should feel regret. Does He say it and then not do it? Or speak and then not carry it out?

² Thus speaks Cyrus king of Persia:Yahweh Elohim of the heavens has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He Himself has committed to me to build for Him a House in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

¹³ Yet He is One, and who can turn Him back? What His soul has yearned for He shall do.

¹⁰ For the fury of humanity, it is acclaiming You; The remainder of the fury shall celebrate to You."

²⁴ Even so Your testimonies are my delectations, Your statutes are my men of counsel."

² On a mountain ridge lift up a banner! Raise high the voice to them! Do not fear! Wave a hand! And they shall enter the portals of the patrons. ³ I, I instruct My hallowed. And I call them. Moreover, I call My masters, for My anger, even My joyous and My proud." ⁴ The sound of a throng in the mountains, like many people! The sound of tumult of kingdoms, of nations being gathered! Yahweh of hosts is Musterer of the battle host"

²⁴ Sworn has Yahweh of hosts, saying, "Should it not, as I likened it, so come to be, and as I counseled it, be arising? ²⁵ To break the Assyrian in My land, and on My mountains will I trample him. And he withdraws his yoke from upon them, and his burden shall he withdraw from upon their shoulder." ²⁶ This is the counsel counseled by Yahweh over the entire earth, and this is the hand stretched out over all the nations of the habitance." ²⁷ For Yahweh of hosts has counseled, and who will annul it? And His hand is outstretched, and who will reverse it?

⁷ For he may see a chariot, a pair of men, horsemen, a rider on an ass, a rider on a camel.And he attends attentively with much attention." ⁸ And he is calling, "I am seeing on the watch, my lord! I am standing continually by day, and I am stationed on my charge all the nights." ⁹ And behold this! Coming is a chariot with men, a pair of horsemen! And he is responding and saying, `Fallen! Fallen is Babylon! And all the carvings and her forbidden idols are broken to the earth.'"

¹⁵ What shall I speak? What He says to me, He does to me. I shall wander all my years in the bitterness of my soul."

² Who roused one from the sunrise? A just one; and He is calling him to His foot, and He is setting the nations before him, and over kings is he swaying. And He is giving them, as soil, to his sword, and, as straw whisked away, to his bow,

²⁵ I rouse one from the north, and he shall arrive; one from the rising of the sun, and he shall proclaim in My name. And he shall trample on prefects as clay of a potter, and, as a potter is tramping the mud, so shall you be tramped."

²⁸ Saying as to Cyrus, `My shepherd,' and `All My desire he will perform.' Saying as to Jerusalem, `It shall be built.' And the temple, `It shall be founded.'"

¹³ I, I rouse him in righteousness, and all his ways am I straightening. He shall build My city, and My deportation he will let go, not for a price, and not for a bribe,says Yahweh of hosts."

¹⁴ Convene, all of you, and hear! Who among you tells these things? Yahweh loves him, he who will do His desire in Babylon, when His arm is on the Chaldeans." ¹⁵ I, yea I, I speak. Indeed, I call him. I bring him, and I prosper his way."

²⁹ Summon unto Babylon archers, all treading the bow, Encamp against her round about, Let [her] have no escape; Recompense to her according to her work, According to all that she did--do to her, For unto Yahweh she has been proud, Unto the Holy One of Israel."

⁴⁵ Therefore, hear you the counsel of Yahweh, That He counselled concerning Babylon, And His devices that He has devised Concerning the land of the Chaldeans; Drag them out do not little ones of the flock, Does He not make desolate over them the habitation?

²⁰ An axe [are] you to me--weapons of war, And I have broken in pieces by you nations, And I have destroyed by you kingdoms, ²¹ And I have broken in pieces by you horse and its rider, And I have broken in pieces by you chariot and its charioteer, ²² And I have broken in pieces by you man and woman, And I have broken in pieces by you old and young, And I have broken in pieces by you young man and virgin, ²³ And I have broken in pieces by you shepherd and his drove, And I have broken in pieces by you husbandman and his team, And I have broken in pieces by you governors and prefects." ²⁴ And I have recompensed to Babylon, And to all inhabitants of Chaldea, All the evil that they have done in Zion, Before your eyes--an affirmation of Yahweh." ²⁵ Lo, I [am] against you, O destroying mount, An affirmation of Yahweh, That is destroying all the earth, And I have stretched out My hand against you, And I have rolled you from the rocks, And given you for a burnt mountain." ²⁶ And they take not out of you a stone for a corner, And a stone for foundations, For desolations eonian are you, An affirmation of Yahweh." ²⁷ Lift you up an ensign in the land, Blow a trumpet among nations, Sanctify against it nations, Summon against it the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz, Appoint against it an infant head, Cause the horse to ascend as the rough cankerworm." ²⁸ Sanctify against it the nations with the kings of Media, Its governors and all its prefects, And all the land of its dominion." ²⁹ And shake does the land, and it is pained, For stood against Babylon have the purposes of Yahweh, To make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant."

⁴ On mountains of Israel you fall, You, and all your bands, and the peoples who [are] with you, To ravenous fowl--a bird of every wing, And [to] a beast of the field, I have given you for food."

²⁸ to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel designates beforehand to occur.

¹¹ in Him in Whom our lot was cast also, being designated beforehand according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will,

¹¹ in accord with the purpose of the eons, which He makes in Christ Jesus, our Lord;"

¹ {A Psalm for the Sons of Korah{ Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all dwellers of this transience!"

⁵ The sturdy of heart are looted; They slumber in their last sleep, And none of the men of valor can use their hands."

¹⁵⁰ Those persecuting me draw near with evil scheme; They are far from Your law.

¹⁵⁵ Far from the wicked is salvation, For they do not seek after Your statutes."

²² How long, O simple ones, shall you love simplicity, And mockers covet their mocking, And the stupid hate knowledge? ²³ May you turn back at my correction; Behold, let me utter what is in my spirit to you; Let me make known my words to you."

¹ Is not wisdom calling And comprehension giving forth her voice? ² At the summit of the heights upon the way, The meeting house of the tracks, there she is stationed." ³ At the side of the gates, at the edge of the town, The entry of the portals, there she makes her appeal." ⁴ To you, O men, I am calling And raising my voice to the sons of humanity;" ⁵ To the simple:Understand prudence; And to the stupid:Understand heart wisdom.

²³ Give ear, and hear My voice! Attend, and hear My saying!"

³ Hearken to Me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, My lading from the belly, and carried from My womb."

⁴ From what I know, you are obstinate, and a sinew of iron is your scruff. And your forehead is copper."

⁵ Thus said Yahweh:What--have your fathers found in Me perversity, That they have gone far off from Me, And go after the vanity, and become vain,

¹¹ Yet they are refusing to attend, and they are giving a stubborn shoulder, and their ears they make heavy against hearing, ¹² and their hearts they make corundum against hearing the law and the words which Yahweh of hosts sent by His spirit, by the hand of the former prophets. And great wrath is coming from Yahweh of hosts."

¹³ Your words are steadfast against Me, says Yahweh. Yet you say, What do we speak against You? ¹⁴ You say, It is futility to serve Elohim. And what gain is it that we keep His charge, and that we go somberly in view of Yahweh of hosts? ¹⁵ And now we are pronouncing the arrogant happy. Moreover, the doers of wickedness are built up. Moreover, they test Elohim, and are escaping."

⁵¹ Stiff-necked and uncircumcised in your hearts and ears, you are ever clashing with the holy spirit! As your fathers, you also!"

¹³ Yet now, in Christ Jesus, you, who once are far off, are become near by the blood of Christ."

¹⁷ Seeing that you are saying that 'Rich am I!' and 'Rich have I become, and of nothing have I need!' and you are not aware that you are wretched and forlorn and poor and blind and naked, ¹⁸ I am advising you to buy of Me gold refined by the fire, that you should be rich, and white garments, that you may be clothed and the shame of your nakedness may not be made manifest, and eye-salve to anoint your eyes, that you may be observing."

⁷ O that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion, When Yahweh will reverse the captivity of His people! Let Jacob exult! Let Israel rejoice!"

¹ {For the Sons of Korah{ {Concerning the Eons{ {A Song{ Elohim is our Refuge and Strength, A very providing Help in distresses."

⁵ Elohim is within it; it shall never slip; Elohim shall help it at the presence of the morning.

² Behold! El is my Salvation. I am trusting in Him and am not afraid. For my Strength and Melody is Yah, Yahweh, and He is becoming mine for salvation."

¹⁶ Wherefore, thus says my Lord Yahweh, "Behold Me laying in Zion a foundation stone, a choice stone, a corner of a precious well-founded foundation. The believer on it shall not be put to shame."

⁷ everyone being called by My name. And for My glory I created him, I formed him. Indeed, I made him."

²³ Be jubilant, you heavens, for Yahweh does it! Shout, you nether parts of the earth! Crash, you mountains, into jubilation, you wildwood, and every tree within it! For Yahweh has redeemed Jacob, and in Israel He is beautifying Himself."

⁵ Momentarily near is My righteousness. Forth fares as light My salvation, and for My arm the peoples look forward. Me the coastlanders are expecting, and for My arm are they waiting."

²¹ And your people, all of them are righteous; for the eon shall they tenant the land, the scion of Yahweh's planting, the making of His hand, to beautify itself."

³ to give rejoicing to the mourners of Zion, to give to them beauty instead of ashes, the oil of elation instead of mourning, the muffler of praise instead of dimness of spirit. And they are called arbiters of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, to beautify Himself."

¹¹ For as the earth is bringing forth her sprouts, and as the garden is causing its sowings to sprout, so, my Lord Yahweh Elohim will cause righteousness to sprout, and praise, in front of all the nations."

¹¹ Behold! Yahweh announces to the outmost part of the earth, say to the daughter of Zion, "Behold! your Saviour is coming! Behold! His hire is with him, and His wage is before him."

⁹ And it has been to Me for a name of joy, For praise, and for beauty, to all nations of the earth, Who hear of all the good that I am doing them, And they have feared, And they have trembled for all the good, And for all the peace, that I am doing to it."

¹⁷ And you shall know that I am Yahweh, your Elohim, tabernacling in Zion, My holy mountain. And Jerusalem shall come to be a holy city, and aliens shall pass in her no longer."

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time; and it will bud at the end, and will not lie dormant. If it be dallying, tarry for it, for it will surely come, and it will not delay."

⁸ Ascend the mountain, and bring wood and build the house, and I will accept it and be glorified, says Yahweh."

¹⁰ And Mine all are Thine, and Thine Mine. And I have been glorified in them."

¹⁷ For in it God's righteousness is being revealed, out of faith for faith, according as it is written: "Now the just one by faith shall be living."

²¹ Yet now, apart from law, a righteousness of God is manifest (being attested by the law and the prophets), ²² yet a righteousness of God through Jesus Christ's faith, for all, and on all who are believing, for there is no distinction, ²³ for all sinned and are wanting of the glory of God. ²⁴ Being justified gratuitously in His grace, through the deliverance which is in Christ Jesus" ²⁵ (Whom God purposed for a Propitiatory shelter, through faith in His blood, for a display of His righteousness because of the passing over of the penalties of sins which occurred before in the forbearance of God), ²⁶ toward the display of His righteousness in the current era, for Him to be just and a Justifier of the one who is of the faith of Jesus."

³ For they, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, were not subjected to the righteousness of God." ⁴ For Christ is the consummation of law for righteousness to everyone who is believing. ⁵ For Moses is writing of the righteousness which is of law, that a man who does the same shall be living in it." ⁶ Yet the righteousness of faith is saying thus: You may not be saying in your heart, Who will be ascending into heaven? - that is, to be leading Christ down -" ⁷ or Who will be descending into the submerged chaos? - that is, to be leading Christ up from among the dead." ⁸ But what is it saying? Near you is the declaration, in your mouth and in your heart - that is, the declaration of faith which we are heralding" ⁹ that, if ever you should be avowing with your mouth the declaration that Jesus is Lord, and should be believing in your heart that God rouses Him from among the dead, you shall be saved." ¹⁰ For with the heart it is believed for righteousness, yet with the mouth it is avowed for salvation." ¹¹ For the scripture is saying: Everyone who is believing on Him shall not be disgraced. ¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same One is Lord of all, being rich for all who are invoking Him." ¹³ For everyone, whoever should be invoking the name of the Lord, shall be saved." ¹⁴ How, then, should they be invoking One in Whom they do not believe? Yet how should they be believing One of Whom they do not hear? Yet how should they be hearing apart from one heralding? ¹⁵ Yet how should they be heralding if ever they should not be commissioned? According as it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those bringing an evangel of good!

⁶ for the laud of the glory of His grace, which graces us in the Beloved:"

¹⁰ whenever He may be coming to be glorified in His saints and to be marveled at in all who believe (seeing that our testimony to you was believed) in that day.

¹² so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, in accord with the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."

³⁷ For still how very little, He Who is coming will be arriving and not delaying."

⁶ Because of this it is included in the scripture: Lo! I am laying in Zion a corner capstone, chosen, held in honor, and he who is believing on it may by no means be disgraced."
