⁴ And the heads say unto the king, `Let, we pray you, this man be put to death, because that he is making feeble the hands of the men of war, who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking unto them according to these words, for this man is not seeking for the peace of this people, but for its evil.'"

⁴ Yet the king of Egypt said to them: Why, Moses and Aaron, are you causing the people to renounce their tasks? Go to your burdens!"

¹⁷ and it comes to pass at Ahab's seeing Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, `Are you he--the troubler of Israel?. <sup>18</sup> And he said, `I have not troubled Israel, but you and the house of your father, in your forsaking the commands of Yahweh, and you go after the Baalim;"

²⁰ And Ahab said unto Elijah, `Have you found me, O mine enemy?' and he said, `I have found--because of your selling yourself to do the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh;"

²¹ And they conspire against him, and stone him with stones by the command of the king, in the court of the house of Yahweh,

¹² let it become known to the king that the Judeans who came up here from you to us, have arrived at Jerusalem. They are rebuilding the revolting and stinking town. They are completing the walls and are repairing the foundations.

⁹ for all of them are making us afraid, saying, `Their hands are too feeble for the work, and it is not done;' and now, strengthen You my hands.

¹¹ And the priests and the prophets speak unto the heads, and unto all the people, saying, `Judgment of death [is] for this man, for he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.'"

²¹ And the king Jehoiakim, and all his mighty ones, and all the heads, hear his words, and the king seeks to put him to death, and Urijah hears, and fears, and flees, and goes in to Egypt." ²² And the king Jehoiakim sends men to Egypt--Elnathan son of Achbor, and men with him unto Egypt--" ²³ And they bring out Urijah from Egypt, and bring him in unto the king Jehoiakim, and he smites him with a sword, and casts his corpse unto the graves of the sons of the people.'"

⁷ And seek the peace of the city whither I have removed you, and pray for it unto Yahweh, for in its peace you have peace."

¹² and he goes down [to] the house of the king, unto the chamber of the scribe, and lo, there are all the heads sitting:Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan son of Acbor, and Gemariah son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the heads." ¹³ And declare to them does Micaiah all the words that he has heard, when Baruch reads in the book in the ears of the people;" ¹⁴ and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, `The roll in which you have read in the ears of the people take in your hand, and come.' And Baruch son of Neriah takes the roll in his hand and comes in unto them, <sup>15</sup> and they say unto him, `Sit down, we pray you, and read it in our ears,' and Baruch reads in their ears, ¹⁶ and it comes to pass, when they hear all the words, they have been afraid one at another, and say unto Baruch, `We do surely declare to the king all these words.'"

²⁷ Its princes in its midst [are] as wolves, Tearing prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, For the sake of gaining dishonest gain."

¹⁰ And Amaziah, priest of Bethel, is sending to Jeroboam, king of Israel, saying:Amos conspires against you within the house of Israel. The land is not able to contain all his words."

¹ And He is saying, Oh hear this! you heads of the house of Jacob, and captains of the house of Israel, is it not yours to know judgment? ² You who are hating good and loving evil, snatching their skin off them, and their meat off their bones, ³ and who devour the meat of My people, and their skin they strip off them, and their bones they crunch, and spread them, as meat in the pot, and as flesh in the midst of the caldron."

¹ Woe to her that is rebellious and sullied, the tyrannizing city!" ² She hearkens not to a voice; she takes no discipline; in Yahweh she does not trust; to her Elohim she does not draw near. ³ Her chiefs within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they pick clean, leaving nothing for the morning."

² Now they begin to accuse Him, saying, "This man we found perverting our nation and forbidding to be giving taxes to Caesar, and saying himself to be Christ, a king."

⁴⁶ Yet some of them came away to the Pharisees, and told them how much Jesus does." ⁴⁷ The chief priests and the Pharisees, then, gathered a Sanhedrin and said, "What are we doing, seeing that this man is doing many signs? ⁴⁸ If we should be leaving him thus, all will be believing in him, and the Romans will come and take away our place as well as our nation." ⁴⁹ Now a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being the chief priest of that year, said to them, "You are not aware of anything, ⁵⁰ neither are you reckoning that it is expedient for us that one man should be dying for the sake of the people and not the whole nation should perish."

²⁰ and, leading them to the officers, say, "These men are confounding our city. Belonging to the Jews, they are"

⁶ Now, not finding them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the city magistrates, imploring that "Those who raise the inhabited earth to insurrection, these are present in this place also,

⁵ For, finding this man a pestilence and stirrer of insurrections among all the Jews who are on the inhabited earth, besides a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,

²² Now we count it worthwhile to hear from you what your disposition is. For, indeed, concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is being contradicted."
