Jeremiah 49:4 Cross References - CLV

⁴ What--do you boast yourself in valleys? Flowed has your valley, O backsliding daughter, Who is trusting in her treasures:Who does come in unto me?

⁶ Who are trusting in their estate And are boasting in the abundance of their riches?

⁷ Here is the master who is not making Elohim his stronghold, And is trusting in the vastness of his riches; He is strengthening himself by his works of woe."

¹⁰ Do not trust in extortion, And in pillage, do not place vain hope; Though your estate be producing, do not set your heart on it."

¹⁵ The wealth of a rich man is his strong town; Their destitution is the dismay of the poor.

¹ Woe! Proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim! And decaying blossom of its stately beauty, which is at the head of the fertile ravine, drunkards for whom there is no wine!" ² Behold! The anger of Yahweh is steadfast and resolute as a hail storm, a stinging horror, as a storm of waters, abundant, overflowing. And He drags it to the earth by His hand." ³ With their feet will they tramp the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, ⁴ and its stately beauty becomes a decaying blossom, which is at the head of the fertile ravine, as its firstfruit, ere the summer, when the seer is seeing it, with it still in his palm, he is swallowing it up."

⁷ Yet you are saying, `For an eon will I be mistress still!' You do not lay these things to heart; you are not mindful of your hereafter." <sup>8</sup> And now, hear this, luxuriant one, dwelling trustingly, who is saying in her heart, `I, and only I, further! I shall not sit, a widow, nor see bereavement.'"

¹⁴ Turn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Yahweh. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

²⁴ And they have not hearkened, nor inclined their ear, And they walk in the counsels, In the stubbornness, of their evil heart, And are for backward, and not for forward."

²³ Thus said Yahweh:Let not the wise boast himself in his wisdom, Nor let the mighty boast himself in his might, Let not the rich boast himself in his riches,

¹³ Lo, I [am] against you--an affirmation of Yahweh, O inhabitant of the valley, rock of the plain, Who are saying, Who comes down against us? And who comes into our habitations?

⁷ For, because of your trusting in your works, And in your treasures, even you are captured, And gone out has Chemosh in a removal, His priests and his heads together."

¹⁶ Your terribleness has lifted you up, The pride of your heart, O dweller in clefts of the rock, Holding the high place of the height, For you make high as an eagle your nest, From thence I bring you down, An affirmation of Yahweh."

⁴ By your wisdom and by your understanding You have made for you wealth, And make gold and silver in your treasuries." ⁵ By the abundance of your wisdom, Through your merchandise, You have multiplied your wealth, And high is your heart through your wealth." ⁶ Therefore, thus said the Lord Yahweh:Because of your giving out your heart as the heart of Elohim, ⁷ Therefore, lo, I am bringing in against you strangers, The terrible of the nations, And they have drawn out their swords Against the beauty of your wisdom, And they have pierced your brightness."

¹⁶ For as a young cow is stubborn, so is Israel stubborn, now will Yahweh graze them as a he-lamb in a wide place."

⁴ If you are elevated as the vulture, and if your nest is placed between the stars, thence will I bring you down (averring is Yahweh)." ⁵ If thieves come to you, if devastators of the night--how you are stilled! Will they not steal their quota? If grape pickers come to you, will they not let clean-gleanings remain?

¹⁷ Those who are rich in the current eon be charging not to be haughty, nor yet to rely on the dubiousness of riches, but on God, Who is tendering us all things richly for our enjoyment;"

⁷ As much as she glorifies herself and indulges, so much torment and mourning be giving her, for she is saying in her heart, 'I am sitting a queen, and am no widow, and mourning I may by no means see.'"
