¹ Words of Nehemiah son of Hachaliah. And it comes to pass, in the month of Chisleu, the twentieth year, and I have been in Shushan the palace, ² and come in does Hanani, one of my brethren, he and men of Judah, and I ask them concerning the Jews, the escaped part that have been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem;" ³ and they say to me, `Those left, who have been left of the captivity there in the province, [are] in great evil, and in reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burnt with fire.. <sup>4</sup> And it comes to pass, at my hearing these words, I have sat down, and I weep and mourn [for] days, and I am fasting and praying before the Elohim of the heavens. <sup>5</sup> And I say, `I beseech you, O Yahweh, Elohim of the heavens, El, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and kindness for those loving Him, and for those keeping His commands, ⁶ let Your ear be, I pray You, attentive, and Your eyes open, to hearken unto the prayer of Your servant, that I am praying before You to-day, by day and by night, concerning the sons of Israel Your servants, and confessing concerning the sins of the sons of Israel, that we have sinned against You; yea, I and the house of my father have sinned;" ⁷ we have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commands, and the statutes, and the judgments, that You did command Moses Your servant. ⁸ `Remember, I pray You, the word that You did command Moses Your servant, saying, You--you trespass--I scatter you among peoples;" <sup>9</sup> and you have turned back unto Me, and kept My commands, and done them--if your outcast is in the end of the heavens, thence I gather them, and have brought them in unto the place that I have chosen to cause My name to tabernacle there. <sup>10</sup> And they [are] Your servants, and Your people, whom You have ransomed by Your great power, and by Your strong hand. <sup>11</sup> `I beseech You, O Lord, let, I pray You, Your ear be attentive unto the prayer of Your servant, and unto the prayer of Your servants, those delighting to fear Your Name; and give prosperity, I pray You, to Your servant to-day, and give him for mercies before this man;' and I have been butler to the king.

¹¹ Rescue me, pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I fear him, lest he comes and smites me, and the mother with the sons.

²⁸ And saying is He to him, "Not Jacob shall your name be called longer, but rather Israel is your name. For upright are you with the Elohim and with mortals, and are prevailing.

² And wroth is Pharaoh over his two eunuchs, over the chief of the cupbearers and over the chief of the bakers.

⁹ And relating is the chief cupbearer his dream to Joseph and is saying to him, "In my dream, behold! A vine is before me. ¹⁰ And in the vine are three intertwining branches. And it seems as if budding. Up come blossoms. Ripening are its clusters of grapes. ¹¹ And the cup of Pharaoh is in my hand. And taking am I the grapes and pressing them into Pharaoh's cup. And giving am I the cup into Pharaoh's hand. ¹² And saying to him is Joseph, "This is its interpretation: The three intertwined branches, three days are they. ¹³ In further three days Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your post, and you shall give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, according to the former custom, by which you became his cupbearer.

²¹ And restoring is he the chief of the cupbearers to his cupbearing, and giving is he the cup into the hand of Pharaoh.

²³ Yet the chief of the cupbearers did not remember Joseph, and forgetting him is he.

⁹ And speaking is the chief of the cupbearers to Pharaoh, saying, "Of my sin am I reminded today.

¹⁴ And the El-Who-Suffices give you compassion before the man, so that he lets your other brother and Benjamin go! And I, as I am bereaved, am I bereaved!"

¹ Then Yahweh said to Moses: Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for under a steadfast hand he shall dismiss them, and under a steadfast hand he shall drive them out from his land.

⁹ And you will come to have this as a sign on your hand and as a reminder between your eyes that the law of Yahweh may be in your mouth; for with a steadfast hand Yahweh brought you forth from Egypt.

¹³ You guided in Your kindness this people You have redeemed; You will conduct them by Your strength to Your holy homestead.

⁶ yet doing kindness to thousands, to those loving Me and observing My instructions.

¹¹ Then Moses beseeched the face of Yahweh his Elohim and said: Why, Yahweh, has Your anger grown hot against Your people whom You have brought forth from the land of Egypt with great vigor and with a steadfast hand?

³³ And you I shall winnow among the nations, and I will unsheathe a sword after you so that your land will become a desolation and your cities become a desert. ³⁴ Then the land shall accept its sabbaths all the days of its desolation when you are in the land of your enemies. Then the land shall pause for a sabbath and cause its missing sabbaths to be accepted. ³⁵ All the days of its desolation it shall pause for a sabbath, which days it did not pause in your sabbath years when you dwelt on it. ³⁶ As for the remainder among you, I will also bring timidity into their heart in the lands of their enemies so that the sound of a leaf being whisked away will pursue them, and they will flee as if in flight from the sword; they will fall even when there is no one pursuing. ³⁷ They will stumble, a man over his brother, as though in view of the sword when there is no pursuer, and you shall come to have no standing space before your enemies. ³⁸ You will perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies will devour you. ³⁹ The remainder among you shall be putrid over their depravity in the lands of your enemies, and also over the depravities of their fathers with them shall they be putrid.

³⁴ These are the instructions with which Yahweh instructed Moses for the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai.

¹ Now, Israel, hearken to the statutes and to the judgments that I am teaching you today, to obey them, that you may live and may enter and tenant the land that Yahweh Elohim of your fathers is giving to you.

⁵ See! I have taught you statutes and judgments just as Yahweh my Elohim had instructed me, for you to do thus within the land where you are entering to tenant it.

²⁵ When you beget sons and sons of sons, and find repose in the land and then become corrupt and make a carving, a physical representation of anything, and do evil in the eyes of Yahweh your Elohim so as to provoke Him to vexatio. ²⁶ I testify against you today by the heavens and the earth, that you shall perish, yea perish quickly off the land where you are crossing over the Jordan to tenant it. You shall not prolong your days on it, for you shall be exterminated, yea exterminated. ²⁷ Yahweh will cause you to scatter among the peoples, and you will remain adult males of a small number among the nations where Yahweh shall lead you.

²⁹ Yet from there you will seek Yahweh your Elohim and find Him when you inquire for Him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ In your distress, when all these things find you in the latter days, then you will return to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice. ³¹ For Yahweh your Elohim is a compassionate El. He shall neither neglect you nor bring ruin on you, nor shall He forget the covenant of your fathers about which He had sworn to them.

¹ Moses called to all Israel and said to them:Hear, Israel, the statutes and the judgments that I am speaking in your ears today, that you learn them and observe to obey them.

¹ Now this is the instruction, the statutes and the judgments that Yahweh your Elohim had enjoined on me to teach you, to keep in the land where you are crossing over to tenant it,

⁹ Then know that Yahweh your Elohim, He is the One Elohim, the El, Who is faithful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him and to those observing His instructions for a thousand generations,

²¹ You shall not be terrified because of their presence, since Yahweh your Elohim is among you, an El great and fear-inspiring.

²⁹ Yet they are Your people and Your allotment whom You brought forth from Egypt by Your great vigor and by Your outstretched arm.

⁵ But rather for the place that Yahweh your Elohim shall choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there, you shall inquire for His tabernacle, and there will you come.

²¹ In case the place where Yahweh your Elohim shall choose to place His name is far from you, then you may sacrifice of your herd and of your flock which Yahweh gave to you, just as I instructed you; and you may eat it within your gates with all the yearning of your soul.

¹⁵ Remember that you had become a servant in the country of Egypt, and Yahweh your Elohim ransomed you. Therefore I am instructing you to obey this word today.

¹⁴ You shall not withdraw from any of the words which I am instructing you today, neither to the right nor left, to go after other elohim to serve them. ¹⁵ It will come to be if you do not hearken to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim to observe and to do all His instructions and His statutes that I am enjoining on you today, that all these maledictions will come on you and overtake you.

⁶⁴ And Yahweh will scatter you among all the peoples from one end of the earth unto the other end of the earth. There you will serve other elohim, those of wood and stone which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers.

² and that you will return again to Yahweh your Elohim and hearken to His voice according to all that I am instructing you today, you and your sons, with all your heart and with all your soul. ³ Then Yahweh your Elohim will turn back your captivity and show compassion to you; He will return and convene you from all the peoples where Yahweh your Elohim will have scattered you. ⁴ If it comes to be that you should be expelled to the end of the heavens, from there Yahweh your Elohim shall convene you, and from there He shall take you. ⁵ Then Yahweh your Elohim will bring you to the land that your fathers tenanted; you will tenant it, and He will bring you good and let you increase more than your fathers.

²⁶ I would say:I might blow them away, I might eradicate their remembrance from mortals, ²⁷ unless I shrank away from the vexation of the enemy; lest their foes misconstrue, lest they say:Our hand is high, and it was not Yahweh Who contrived all this. ²⁸ For they are a nation whose counsel is destructive, and there is no understanding in them.

¹⁷ And he who is bearing tidings answers and said, `Israel has fled before the Philistines, and also a great slaughter has been among the people, and also your two sons have died--Hophni and Phinehas--and the ark of Elohim has been captured.. <sup>18</sup> And it comes to pass, at his mentioning the ark of Elohim, that he falls from off the throne backward, by the side of the gate, and his neck is broken, and he dies, for the man [is] old and heavy, and he has judged Israel forty years. <sup>19</sup> And his daughter-in-law, wife of Phinehas, [is] pregnant, about to bear, and she hears the report of the taking of the ark of Elohim, that her father-in-law and her husband have died, and she bows, and bears, for her pains have turned upon her. <sup>20</sup> And at the time of her death, when the women who are standing by her say, `Fear not, for a son you have borne,' she has not answered, nor set her heart [to it];" ²¹ and she calls the youth I-Chabod, saying, `Honor has removed from Israel,' because of the taking of the ark of Elohim, and because of her father-in-law and her husband. <sup>22</sup> And she said, `Honor has removed from Israel, for the ark of Elohim has been taken..

¹¹ `I have repented that I caused Saul to reign for king, for he has turned back from after Me, and My words he has not performed;' and it is displeasing to Samuel, and he cries unto Yahweh all the night.

³ and kept the charge of Yahweh your Elohim, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commands, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, so that you do wisely all that you do, and whithersoever you turn,

²³ and said, `Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, there is not an Elohim like You, in the heavens above, and on the earth beneath, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Your servants, those walking before You with all their heart,

²⁸ `Then you have turned unto the prayer of Your servant, and unto his supplication, O Yahweh my Elohim, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer which Your servant is praying before You to-day, ²⁹ for Your eyes being open towards this house night and day, towards the place of which You have said, My Name is there; to hearken unto the prayer which Your servant prays towards this place.

³ and Yahweh said unto him, `I have heard your prayer and your supplication with which you have made supplication before Me; I have hallowed this house that you have built to put My name there--unto the eon, and Mine eyes and My heart have been there all the days.

⁶ `If you at all turn back--you and your sons--from after Me, and keep not My commands--My statutes, that I have set before you, and you have gone and served other elohims, and bowed yourselves to them, ⁷ then I have cut off Israel from the face of the ground that I have given to them, and the house that I have hallowed for My name I send away from My presence, and Israel has been for a simile and for a byword among all the peoples;"

¹⁰ and the walls of Jerusalem round about have all the forces of the Chaldeans, who [are] with the chief of the executioners, broken down.

³⁵ And say, Save us, O Elohim of our salvation, And gather us, and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.

²¹ `And who [is] as Your people Israel, one nation in the earth whom Elohim has gone to ransom to Him for a people, to make for You a name great and fearful, to cast out from the presence of Your people whom You have ransomed out of Egypt--nations?

⁴⁰ `Now, my Elohim, let, I beseech You, Your eyes be open, and Your ears attentive, to the prayer of this place.

⁴ and their sons he has not put to death, but [did] as is written in the law, in the book of Moses, whom Yahweh commanded, saying, `Fathers do not die for sons, and sons die not for fathers, but each for his own sin they die..

² And he does that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Uzziah his father did; only, he has not come in unto the temple of Yahweh; and again are the people doing corruptly.

¹⁰ and now, sons of Judah and Jerusalem you are saying to subdue for men-servants and for maid-servants to you; but are there not with you causes of guilt before Yahweh your Elohim?

⁶ for our fathers have trespassed, and done that which is evil in the eyes of Yahweh our Elohim, and forsake him, and turn round their faces from the tabernacle of Yahweh, and give the neck.

¹ In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to conclude the word of Yahweh from the mouth of Jeremiah, Yahweh roused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia so that he caused a notification to pass through all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying,

¹ These were the sons of the province who came up from the captivity of the deportation that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported to Babylon; they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each man to his city,

⁸ Let it become known to the king that we departed to the province of Judah to the great House of Eloah. It is being rebuilt of dressed stone and timber placed in the sidewalls. This work is thoroughly done and prospering under their hands.

¹¹ This is the rescript of what they replied to us saying:We are the servants of Him Who is Eloah of the heavens and the earth. And we are rebuilding the House that had been built a huge number of years before this, when a great king of Israel built it and completed it. ¹² Only because our fathers angered Eloah of the heavens, He granted them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the Chaldean, king of Babylon; and he demolished this House and deported the people to Babylon.

¹² May Eloah Who made His Name tabernacle there, overturn any king or people that stretches out his hand to disobey this rescript by harming this House of Eloah in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have promulgated the decree. Let it be carried out thoroughly.

⁶ that Ezra himself came up from Babylon. He was a scribe expert in the law of Moses that Yahweh Elohim of Israel had given. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Yahweh his Elohim on him. ⁷ Some of the sons of Israel and some of the priests, the Levites and the singers, the gatekeepers and the Nethinim also came up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of king Artaxerxes.

²⁷ Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of our fathers, Who has put such as this into the heart of the king to beautify the House of Yahweh in Jerusalem. ²⁸ And He has stretched out kindness toward me from before the king and his counselors and all the masterful chiefs of the king. So I encouraged myself according to the hand of Yahweh my Elohim on me, and I convened the heads out of Israel to go up with me.

³ When I heard about this matter, I tore my garment and my robe and scraped some of the hair of my head and my beard and sat down in desolation.

⁶ and said:My Elohim, I am ashamed and confounded to raise up my face to You, my Elohim, for our depravities, they are abundant, above our heads, and our guilt is towering unto the heavens. ⁷ From the days of our fathers we have been in great guilt until this day; because of our depravities we ourselves, our kings, our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the countries, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering and to shame of face, just as this day. ⁸ Yet now for a little moment, grace from Yahweh our Elohim has come to leave us as a remnant for deliverance and to give us a peg in His holy place, so that our Elohim may enlighten our eyes and give us a little revival in our servitudes. ⁹ Though we are slaves, our Elohim has not forsaken us in our servitudes; He is stretching out His benignity toward us before the kings of Persia in giving us a revival to raise up the House of our Elohim and to let its deserted places stand firm and in giving us a barrier-wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

¹⁴ shall we again quash Your instructions by intermarrying with the peoples who commit these abhorrences? Are You not angry with us to the point of entirely destroying us until there is no remnant and deliverance?

¹ While Ezra was praying and while he was confessing, lamenting and cast to the ground before the House of the One, Elohim, those from Israel convened around him, a very great assembly, men, women and children; for the people lamented with increased lamentation.

⁹ So within the three days all the men of Judah and Benjamin convened in Jerusalem; it was in the ninth month on the twentieth day of the month. All the people were sitting in the square of the House of the One, Elohim, quivering on account of the matter and because of the downpours.

¹¹ So now make confession to Yahweh Elohim of your fathers and get His approval and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign women.

⁶ let Your ear be, I pray You, attentive, and Your eyes open, to hearken unto the prayer of Your servant, that I am praying before You to-day, by day and by night, concerning the sons of Israel Your servants, and confessing concerning the sins of the sons of Israel, that we have sinned against You; yea, I and the house of my father have sinned;"

¹ And it comes to pass, in the month of Nisan, the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, wine [is] before him, and I lift up the wine, and give to the king, and I had not been sad before him;"

³ and say to the king, `Let the king to the eon live! wherefore should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of the graves of my fathers, [is] a waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?. <sup>4</sup> And the king said to me, `For what are you seeking?' and I pray unto the Elohim of the heavens,

⁸ and a letter unto Asaph, keeper of the paradise that the king has, that he give to me trees for beams [for] the gates of the palace that the house has, and for the wall of the city, and for the house into which I enter;' and the king gives to me, according to the good hand of my Elohim upon me.

¹³ And I go out through the gate of the valley by night, and unto the front of the fountain of the dragon, and unto the gate of the dunghill, and I am measuring about the walls of Jerusalem, that are broken down, and its gates consumed with fire.

¹⁷ and I say unto them, `You are seeing the evil that we are in, in that Jerusalem [is] waste, and its gates have been burnt with fire; come and we build the wall of Jerusalem, and we are not any more a reproach..

¹⁴ And I see, and rise up, and say unto the freemen, and unto the prefects, and unto the rest of the people, `Be not afraid of them; the Lord, the great and the fearful, remember you, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses..

² and I charge Hanani my brother, and Hananiah head of the palace, concerning Jerusalem--for he [is] as a man of truth, and fearing Elohim above many-.

⁶ These [are] sons of the province, those coming up of the captives of the removal that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed--and they turn back to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his city-.

²⁹ and do testify against them, to bring them back unto Your law; and they--they have acted proudly, and have not hearkened to Your commands, and against Your judgments have sinned, --which man does and has lived in them--and they give a refractory shoulder, and their neck have hardened, and have not hearkened. ³⁰ `And You draw over them many years, and testify against them by Your Spirit, by the hand of Your prophets, and they have not given ear, and You do give them into the hand of peoples of the lands, <sup>31</sup> and in Your abundant mercies You have not made them a consumption, nor have forsaken them; for a El, gracious and merciful, [are] You. <sup>32</sup> `And now, O our Elohim--El, the great, the mighty, and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness--let not all the travail that has found us be little before You, for our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, and for our prophets, and for our fathers, and for all Your people, from the days of the kings of Asshur unto this day;"

³² `And now, O our Elohim--El, the great, the mighty, and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness--let not all the travail that has found us be little before You, for our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, and for our prophets, and for our fathers, and for all Your people, from the days of the kings of Asshur unto this day;" <sup>33</sup> and You [are] righteous concerning all that has come upon us, for truth You have done, and we have done wickedly;" <sup>34</sup> and our kings, our heads, our priests, and our fathers, have not done Your law, nor attended unto Your commands, and to Your testimonies, that You have testified against them;" <sup>35</sup> and they, in their kingdom, and in Your abundant goodness, that You have given to them, and in the land, the large and the fat, that You have set before them, have not served You, nor turned back from their evil doings. <sup>36</sup> `Lo, we--to-day--[are] servants, and the land that You have given to our fathers, to eat its fruit and its good--lo, we [are] servants on it, ³⁷ and its increase it is multiplying to the kings whom You have set over us in our sins; and over our bodies they are ruling, and over our cattle, according to their pleasure, and we [are] in great distress.

¹ And over those sealed [are] Nehemiah the Tirshatha, son of Hachaliah, and Zidkijah,

³ And these [are] heads of the province who have dwelt in Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, they have dwelt each in his possession in their cities; Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon.

¹ It was in the days of Xerxes--that Xerxes who was reigning over 127 provinces from India unto Nubia. ² In those days when king Xerxes sat on his royal throne in the castle of Susa,

¹⁵ The couriers rode forth posthaste by order of the king, and the edict was promulgated in the castle of Susa. Then the king and Haman sat down to drink, but Susa city was doleful.

⁸ The precepts of Yahweh are upright, rejoicing the heart; The instruction of Yahweh is pure, enlightening the eyes;" ⁹ The fear of Yahweh is clean, standing unto the future; The judgments of Yahweh are truth; they are righteous altogether:"

⁵ I am now acknowledging my sin to You, And I do not cover over my depravity. I said, I shall confess against myself my transgressions to Yahweh, And You, You lift away the depravity of my sin. {Interlude{ "

¹⁵ The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous, And His ears are toward their imploring."

¹¹ You give us up like the flock, for food, And among the nations You have winnowed us." ¹² You sell Your people, yet not for wealth; Nor are You increased by the price for them." ¹³ You constitute us a reproach to our neighbors, A derision and a scoffing to those round about us." ¹⁴ You constitute us a proverbial byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the national groups."

² For Yahweh the Supreme is fear inspiring The great King over the entire earth.

¹⁷ Evening, morning and noon I importune and clamor, And He hears my voice."

⁹ For the zeal of Your House, it devours me, And the reproaches of those reproaching You, they fall on me." ¹⁰ When I lament by the fasting of my soul, It becomes a reproach against me;"

² Remember Your congregation, which You acquired aforetime, Which You redeemed as the tribe of Your allotment, Mount Zion, in which You tabernacled."

⁴ We have become a reproach to our neighbors, A derision and a scoffing to those round about us."

⁶ Do give ear, O Yahweh, to my prayer, And do attend to the voice of my supplications."

¹ {Contemplating, For Heman the Ezrahite{ O Yahweh, Elohim of my salvation, By day I cry out, Even in the night in front of You."

¹³ You Yourself shall rise; You shall have compassion on Zion, For it is the era to be gracious to her, Since the appointed time has come." ¹⁴ For Your servants hold her stones dear, And they show favor to her soil."

⁶ We have sinned with our fathers; We have sown depravity; We have acted wickedly.

⁴⁷ Save us, O Yahweh our Elohim, And convene us from the nations, To acclaim Your holy Name, To triumph in Your praise."

⁵ O that my ways should be established To keep Your statutes. ⁶ Then I should not be ashamed When I look to all Your instructions. ⁷ I shall acclaim You in uprightness of heart, While I learn Your righteous ordinances." ⁸ Your statutes shall I keep; O do not forsake me utterly.

⁴⁹ Remember Your word to Your servant, On which You have set my hope."

The throng of the city shall forsake it. The hump and lookout become caves, in the future, till the eon; an elation of wild asses, a pasture for droves,

And we are decaying as a leaf, all of us, and our depravities, as the wind, are carrying us away." ⁷ And no one is calling on Your name, rousing himself to hold fast to You, for You conceal Your face from us, and You are dissolving us by means of our depravities."

⁹ You must not be wroth with us, Yahweh, unto excess, and You must not, for the future, be remembering our depravity. Behold! Look, pray! Your people are we all." ¹⁰ The cities of Your holy place come to be a wilderness. Zion becomes as a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation." ¹¹ The house, our holy place, and our beauty, where our forefathers praised You, came to be burned with fire, and all that we covet came to be demolished."

¹⁴ Turn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Yahweh. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

¹⁴ and there is not an escaped and remaining one of the remnant of Judah, who are entering into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, even to turn back to the land of Judah, whither they are lifting up their soul to return to dwell, for they do not turn back, except those escaping.'"

³⁹ Of what shall a living man complain, a master concerning his sins? ⁴⁰ Let us search and investigate our ways and return unto Yahweh; ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our palms to the El in the heavens: ⁴² We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned;

¹⁸ He is charging them to petition for compassions before the Eloah of the heavens concerning this secret; that Daniel and his partners not perish with the remaining wise men of Babylon.

The city and the holy place shall be laid in ruins with the other governor's coming; then its end is by an overflow, and till the end of the war desolations will be decided." ²⁷ Then he will be master of a covenant with many for one seven:At half of the seven, he will cause to cease the sacrifice and the approach present; on a wing of the sanctuary shall be desolating abominations. Till the conclusion of the era the decided conclusion will be poured forth on the desolation."

⁹ Deeply they ruin as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their depravity and will note their sins.

¹⁸ Pray concerning us, for we are persuaded that we have an ideal conscience, in all wanting to behave ideally."

⁹ If we should be avowing our sins, He is faithful and just that He may be pardoning us our sins and should be cleansing us from all injustice."
