¹ And it comes to pass, when the wall has been built, that I set up the doors, and the gatekeepers are appointed, and the singers, and the Levites, ² and I charge Hanani my brother, and Hananiah head of the palace, concerning Jerusalem--for he [is] as a man of truth, and fearing Elohim above many-. ³ and I say to them, `Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened till the heat of the sun, and while they are standing by let them shut the doors, and fasten, and appoint guards of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, each in his guard, and each over-against his house.. ⁴ And the city [is] broad on both sides, and great, and the people [are] few in its midst, and there are no houses builded;" ⁵ and my Elohim puts it unto my heart, and I gather the freeman, and the prefects, and the people, for the genealogy, and I find a book of the genealogy of those coming up at the beginning, and I find written in it:-. ⁶ These [are] sons of the province, those coming up of the captives of the removal that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed--and they turn back to Jerusalem and to Judah, each to his city-. ⁷ who are coming in with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. Number of the men of the people of Israel. ⁸ Sons of Parosh:two thousand a hundred and seventy and two. ⁹ Sons of Shephatiah:three hundred seventy and two. ¹⁰ Sons of Arah:six hundred fifty and two. ¹¹ Sons of Pahath-Moab, of the sons of Jeshua and Joab:two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen. ¹² Sons of Elam:a thousand two hundred fifty and four. ¹³ Sons of Zattu:eight hundred forty and five. ¹⁴ Sons of Zaccai:seven hundred and sixty. ¹⁵ Sons of Binnui:six hundred forty and eight. ¹⁶ Sons of Bebai:six hundred twenty and eight. ¹⁷ Sons of Azgad:two thousand three hundred twenty and two. ¹⁸ Sons of Adonikam:six hundred sixty and seven. ¹⁹ Sons of Bigvai:two thousand sixty and seven. ²⁰ Sons of Adin:six hundred fifty and five. ²¹ Sons of Ater of Hezekiah:ninety and eight. ²² Sons of Hashum:three hundred twenty and eight. ²³ Sons of Bezai:three hundred twenty and four. ²⁴ Sons of Hariph:a hundred [and] twelve. ²⁵ Sons of Gibeon:ninety and five. ²⁶ Men of Beth-Lehem and Netophah:a hundred eighty and eight. ²⁷ Men of Anathoth:a hundred twenty and eight. ²⁸ Men of Beth-Azmaveth:forty and two. ²⁹ Men of Kirjath-Jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth:seven hundred forty and three. ³⁰ Men of Ramah and Gaba:six hundred twenty and one. ³¹ Men of Michmas:a hundred and twenty and two. ³² Men of Bethel and Ai:a hundred twenty and three. ³³ Men of the other Nebo:fifty and two. ³⁴ Sons of the other Elam:a thousand two hundred fifty and four. ³⁵ Sons of Harim:three hundred and twenty. ³⁶ Sons of Jericho:three hundred forty and five. ³⁷ Sons of Lod, Hadid, and Ono:seven hundred and twenty and one. ³⁸ Sons of Senaah:three thousand nine hundred and thirty. ³⁹ The priests:sons of Jedaiah:of the house of Jeshua:nine hundred seventy and three; ⁴⁰ sons of Immer:a thousand fifty and two; ⁴¹ sons of Pashur:a thousand two hundred forty and seven; ⁴² sons of Harim:a thousand and seventeen. ⁴³ The Levites:sons of Jeshua, of Kadmiel:of sons of Hodevah:seventy and four. ⁴⁴ The singers:sons of Asaph:a hundred forty and eight. ⁴⁵ The gatekeepers:sons of Shallum, sons of Ater, sons of Talmon, sons of Akkub, sons of Hatita, sons of Shobai:a hundred thirty and eight. ⁴⁶ The Nethinim:sons of Ziha, sons of Hasupha, sons of Tabbaoth, ⁴⁷ sons of Keros, sons of Sia, sons of Padon, ⁴⁸ sons of Lebanah, sons of Hagaba, sons of Shalmai, ⁴⁹ sons of Hanan, sons of Giddel, sons of Gahar, ⁵⁰ sons of Reaiah, sons of Rezin, sons of Nekoda, ⁵¹ sons of Gazzam, sons of Uzza, sons of Phaseah, ⁵² sons of Bezai, sons of Meunim, sons of Nephishesim, ⁵³ sons of Bakbuk, sons of Hakupha, sons of Harhur, ⁵⁴ sons of Bazlith, sons of Mehida, sons of Harsha, ⁵⁵ sons of Barkos, sons of Sisera, sons of Tamah, ⁵⁶ sons of Neziah, sons of Hatipha. ⁵⁷ Sons of the servants of Solomon:sons of Sotai, sons of Sophereth, sons of Perida, ⁵⁸ sons of Jaala, sons of Darkon, sons of Giddel, ⁵⁹ sons of Shephatiah, sons of Hattil, sons of Pochereth of Zebaim, sons of Amon. ⁶⁰ All the Nethinim and the sons of the servants of Solomon [are] three hundred ninety and two. ⁶¹ And these [are] those coming up from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer--and they have not been able to declare the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they [are] of Israel-. ⁶² sons of Delaiah, sons of Tobiah, sons of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two. ⁶³ And of the priests:sons of Habaiah sons of Koz, sons of Barzillai, who has taken from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite a wife, and is called by their name. ⁶⁴ These have sought their register among those reckoning themselves by genealogy, and it has not been found, and they are redeemed from the priesthood, ⁶⁵ and the Tirshatha said to them that they eat not of the most holy things till the standing up of the priest with Urim and Thummim. ⁶⁶ All the assembly together [is] four myriads two thousand three hundred and sixty, ⁶⁷ apart from their servants and their handmaids--these [are] seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven; and of them [are] singers and songstresses, two hundred forty and five. ⁶⁸ Their horses [are] seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred [and] forty and five;" ⁶⁹ camels, four hundred thirty and five; asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty. ⁷⁰ And from the extremity of the heads of the fathers they have given to the work; the Tirshatha has given to the treasure, of gold, drams a thousand, bowls fifty, priests' coats thirty and five hundred. ⁷¹ And of the heads of the fathers they have given to the treasure of the work, of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand and two hundred. ⁷² And that which the rest of the people have given [is] of gold, drams two myriads, and of silver, pounds two thousand, and of priests coats, sixty and seven. ⁷³ And they dwell--the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel--in their cities, and the seventh month comes, and the sons of Israel [are] in their cities.

¹ And David is old, and satisfied with days, and causes his son Solomon to reign over Israel, ² and gathers all the heads of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites;" ³ and the Levites are numbered from a son of thirty years and upward, and their number, by their polls, is of mighty men thirty and eight thousand. ⁴ Of these to preside over the work of the house of Yahweh [are] twenty and four thousand, and officers and judges six thousand, ⁵ and four thousand gatekeepers, and four thousand giving praise to Yahweh, `with instruments that I made for praising,' [said David.. <sup>6</sup> And David distributes them into courses:Of the sons of Levi:of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. <sup>7</sup> Of the Gershonite:Laadan and Shimei. <sup>8</sup> Sons of Laadan:the head [is] Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three. <sup>9</sup> Sons of Shimei [are] Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three; these [are] heads of the fathers of Laadan. <sup>10</sup> And sons of Shimei [are] Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah; these [are] sons of Shimei, four. <sup>11</sup> And Jahath is the head, and Zizah the second, and Jeush and Beriah have not multiplied sons, and they become the house of a father by one numbering. <sup>12</sup> Sons of Kohath [are] Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four. <sup>13</sup> Sons of Amram:Aaron and Moses; and Aaron is separated for his sanctifying the holy of holies, he and his sons--unto the eon, to make perfume before Yahweh, to serve Him, and to bless in His name--unto the eon. <sup>14</sup> As to Moses, the man of Elohim, his sons are called after the tribe of Levi. <sup>15</sup> Sons of Moses:Gershom and Eliezer. <sup>16</sup> Sons of Gershom:Shebuel the head. <sup>17</sup> And sons of Eliezer are Rehabiah the head, and Eliezer had no other sons, and the sons of Rehabiah have multiplied exceedingly. <sup>18</sup> Sons of Izhar:Shelomith the head. <sup>19</sup> Sons of Hebron:Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth. <sup>20</sup> Sons of Uzziel:Micah the head, and Ishshiah, the second. <sup>21</sup> Sons of Merari:Mahli and Mushi; sons of Mahli:Eleazar and Kish. <sup>22</sup> And Eleazar dies, and he had no sons, but daughters, and sons of Kish their brethren take them. <sup>23</sup> Sons of Mushi:Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth, three. <sup>24</sup> These [are] sons of Levi, by the house of their fathers, heads of the fathers, by their appointments, in the number of names, by their polls, doing the work for the service of the house of Yahweh, from a son of twenty years and upward, <sup>25</sup> for David said, `Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He does tabernacle in Jerusalem unto the eon;. ²⁶ and also of the Levites, `None [are] to bear the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service;. ²⁷ for by the last words of David they [took] the number of the sons of Levi from a son of twenty years and upward, ²⁸ for their station [is] at the side of the sons of Aaron, for the service of the house of Yahweh, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the cleansing of every holy thing, and the work of the service of the house of Elohim, ²⁹ and for the bread of the arrangement, and for fine flour for present, and for the thin unleavened cakes, and for [the work of] the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all [liquid] measure and [solid] measure;" ³⁰ and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks, and to give praise to Yahweh, and so at evening;" ³¹ and for all the burnt-offerings--burnt-offerings to Yahweh for sabbaths, for new moons, and for appointed seasons, by number, according to the ordinance upon them continually, before Yahweh. ³² And they have kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, for the service of the house of Yahweh.

¹ And David and the heads of the host separate for service, of the sons of Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun, who are prophesying with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals, and the number of the workmen is according to their service. ² Of sons of Asaph:Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, [are] by the side of Asaph, who is prophesying by the side of the king. ³ Of Jeduthun:sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, Shisshah, [are] by the side of their father Jeduthun; with a harp he is prophesying, for giving of thanks and of praise to Yahweh. ⁴ Of Heman:sons of Heman:Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth;" ⁵ all these [are] sons of Heman--seer of the king in the things of Elohim--to lift up a horn; and Elohim gives to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ⁶ All these [are] by the side of their father in the song of the house of Yahweh, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of Elohim; by the side of the king [are] Asaph, and Jeduthun, and Heman. ⁷ And their number, with their brethren--taught in the song of Yahweh, all who are intelligent--is two hundred, eighty and eight. ⁸ And they cause to fall lots--charge over-against [charge], as well the small as the great, the intelligent with the learner. ⁹ And the first lot goes out for Asaph to Joseph; [to] Gedaliah the second; he, and his brethren and his sons, twelve;" ¹⁰ the third [to] Zaccur, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹¹ the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹² the fifth [to] Nethaniah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹³ the sixth [to] Bukkiah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹⁴ the seventh [to] Jesharelah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹⁵ the eighth [to] Jeshaiah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹⁶ the ninth [to] Mattaniah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹⁷ the tenth [to] Shimei, his sons and his brethren, twelve. ¹⁸ eleventh [to] Azareel, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ¹⁹ the twelfth [to] Hashabiah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²⁰ at the thirteenth [to] Shubael, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²¹ at the fourteenth [to] Mattithiah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²² at the fifteenth [to] Jeremoth, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²³ at the sixteenth [to] Hananiah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²⁴ at the seventeenth [to] Joshbekashah, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²⁵ at the eighteenth [to] Hanani, his sons and his brethren, twelve;" ²⁶ at the nineteenth [to] Mallothi, his sons and his brethren, twelve;"

² And Hezekiah appoints the courses of the priests, and of the Levites, by their courses, each according to his service, of the priests and of the Levites, for burnt-offering, and for peace-offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to give praise in the gates of the camps of Yahweh.

⁸ In the second year of their coming to the site of the House of Elohim at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak and the remnants of their brother priests and Levites started with all who had come from the captivity to Jerusalem. They installed Levites from twenty years of age and above to oversee the work on the House of Yahweh.

¹ And Eliashib the high priest rises, and his brethren the priests, and they build the sheep-gate; they have sanctified it, and set up its doors, even unto the tower of Meah they have sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel;" ² and by his hand have men of Jericho built; and by their hand has Zaccur son of Imri built; ³ and the fish-gate have sons of Hassenaah built, they have walled it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars. ⁴ And by their hand has Merimoth son of Urijah, son of Koz, strengthened; and by his hand has Meshullam son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabeel, strengthened; and by his hand has Zadok son of Baana strengthened;" ⁵ and by his hand have the Tekoites strengthened, and their honorable ones have not brought in their neck to the service of their Lord. ⁶ And the old gate have Jehoiada son of Paseah, and Meshullam son of Besodeiah, strengthened; they have walled it, and set up its doors, and its locks, and its bars. ⁷ And by their hand has Melatiah the Gibeonite strengthened, and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, to the throne of the governor beyond the River. ⁸ By his hand has Uzziel son of Harhaiah of the refiners strengthened; and by his hand has Hananiah son of [one of] the compounders strengthened; and they leave Jerusalem unto the broad wall. ⁹ And by their hand has Rephaiah son of Hur, head of the half of the district of Jerusalem, strengthened. ¹⁰ And by their hand has Jedaiah son of Harumaph strengthened, and over-against his own house; and by his hand has Hattush son of Hashabniah strengthened. ¹¹ A second measure has Malchijah son of Harim strengthened, and Hashub son of Pahath-Moab, even the tower of the furnaces. ¹² And by his hand has Shallum son of Halohesh, head of the half of the district of Jerusalem, strengthened, he and his daughters. ¹³ The gate of the valley has Hanun strengthened, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they have built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and a thousand cubits in the wall unto the dung-gate. ¹⁴ And the dung-gate has Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-Haccerem, strengthened; he does built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars. ¹⁵ And the gate of the fountain has Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, strengthened:he does build it, and cover it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Siloah, to the garden of the king, and unto the steps that are going down from the city of David. ¹⁶ After him has Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of the half of the district of Beth-Zur, strengthened, unto over-against the graves of David, and unto the pool that is made, and unto the house of the mighty ones. ¹⁷ After him have the Levites strengthened, [and] Rehum son of Bani:by his hand has Hashabiah, head of the half of the district of Keilah, strengthened, for his district. ¹⁸ After him have their brethren strengthened, [and] Bavvai son of Henadad, head of the half of the district of Keilah. ¹⁹ And Ezer son of Jeshua, head of Mizpah, does strengthen, by his hand, a second measure, from over-against the ascent of the armory at the angle. ²⁰ After him has Baruch son of Zabbai hastened to strengthen a second measure from the angle unto the opening of the house of Eliashib the high priest. ²¹ After him has Meremoth son of Urijah, son of Koz, strengthened, a second measure, from the opening of the house of Eliashib even unto the completion of the house of Eliashib. ²² And after him have the priests, men of the circuit, strengthened. ²³ After them has Benjamin strengthened, and Hashub, over-against their house; after him has Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, strengthened, near his house. ²⁴ After him has Binnui son of Henadad strengthened, a second measure, from the house of Azariah unto the angle, and unto the corner. ²⁵ Palal son of Uzai, from over-against the angle, and the tower that is going out from the upper house of the king that [is] at the court of the prison; after him Pedaiah son of Parosh. ²⁶ And the Nethinim have been dwelling in Ophel, unto over-against the water-gate at the east, and the tower that goes out. ²⁷ After him have the Tekoites strengthened, a second measure, from over-against the great tower that goes out, and unto the wall of Ophel. ²⁸ From above the horse-gate have the priests strengthened, each over-against his house. ²⁹ After them has Zadok son of Immer strengthened, over against his house; and after him has Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the east gate, strengthened. ³⁰ After him has Hananiah son of Shelemiah strengthened, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, a second measure; after him has Meshullam son of Berechiah strengthened, over-against his chamber. ³¹ After him has Malchijah son of the refiner strengthened, unto the house of the Nethinim, and of the merchants, over-against the gate of the Miphkad, and unto the ascent of the corner. ³² And between the ascent of the corner and the sheep-gate, have the refiners and the merchants strengthened.

¹ And it comes to pass, when it has been heard by Sanballat, and Tobiah, and by Geshem the Arabian, and by the rest of our enemies, that I have builded the wall, and there has not been left in it a breach, (also, till that time the doors I had not set up in the gates,.

¹⁵ And the wall is completed in the twenty and fifth of Elul, on the fifty and second day;"

³⁹ for unto the chambers do they bring in--the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi--the heave-offering of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, and there [are] vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests, those ministering, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and we do not forsake the house of our Elohim.

³ And these [are] heads of the province who have dwelt in Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, they have dwelt each in his possession in their cities; Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the sons of the servants of Solomon.

²⁴ and heads of the Levites:Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their brethren, [are] over-against them, to give praise, to give thanks, by command of David the man of Elohim, charge over-against charge.

¹⁸ And saying to them is Joseph on the third day, "This do and live. The Elohim fear I.

²¹ Now you shall perceive among all the people men of ability, fearful of Elohim, men of truth, hating gain. You will place these over them as chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties and chiefs of tens.

⁷ Not so with My servant Moses. In My whole house he is faithful.

³ He said--the Elohim of Israel--to me, He spoke--the Rock of Israel:He who is ruling over man [is] righteous, He is ruling in the fear of Elohim.

³ and Ahab calls unto Obadiah, who [is] over the house--and Obadiah has been fearing Yahweh greatly,

¹² and it has been, I go from you, and the Spirit of Yahweh does lift you up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he does not find you, and he has slain me; and your servant is fearing Yahweh from my youth.

² and come in does Hanani, one of my brethren, he and men of Judah, and I ask them concerning the Jews, the escaped part that have been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem;"

⁸ and a letter unto Asaph, keeper of the paradise that the king has, that he give to me trees for beams [for] the gates of the palace that the house has, and for the wall of the city, and for the house into which I enter;' and the king gives to me, according to the good hand of my Elohim upon me.

¹⁵ the former governors who [are] before me have made themselves heavy on the people, and take of them in bread and wine, besides in silver forty shekels; also, their servants have ruled over the people--and I have not done so, because of the fear of Elohim.

²³ Hoshea, Hananiah, Hashub,

¹³ And I appoint treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites; and by their hand [is] Hanan son of Zaccur, son of Mattaniah, for stedfast they have been reckoned, and on them [it is] to give a portion to their brethren.

¹ There was a man in the country of Uz. Job was his name. And this man was flawless and upright, fearing Elohim and withdrawing from evil.

⁶ My eyes are with the faithful of the land, to dwell with me; He who is going in a flawless way, he shall minister for me."

⁵ Impregnable is Yahweh, for He tabernacles in the height; He fills Zion with judgment and justice." ⁶ It comes to be the faithfulness of your eras. The safeguard of salvation is wisdom and knowledge. The fear of Yahweh, it is its treasure."

⁴ Then the chancellors and satraps are seeking to find a pretext against Daniel in regard to the administration of the kingdom. Yet no pretext or corruption at all can they find, forasmuch as he is faithful, and no carelessness or corruption at all is found in him."

⁴⁵ Who, consequently, is the faithful and prudent slave whom the lord places over his household to give them nourishment in season?

²¹ Now his lord averred to him, 'Well done! good and faithful slave. Over a few were you faithful; over many will I place you. Enter into the joy of your lord!'"

¹⁰ He who is faithful in the least is faithful in much also, and he who is unjust in the least is unjust in much also." ¹¹ If, then, you did not come to be faithful in the unjust mammon, who will be entrusting to you the true? ¹² And, if you did not come to be faithful in that which is an outsider's, who will be giving you that which is yours?

² Here, furthermore, it is being sought in administrators that any such may be found faithful."

² And what things you hear from me through many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be competent to teach others also."

²³ After them has Benjamin strengthened, and Hashub, over-against their house; after him has Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, strengthened, near his house.

²⁸ From above the horse-gate have the priests strengthened, each over-against his house. ²⁹ After them has Zadok son of Immer strengthened, over against his house; and after him has Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the east gate, strengthened. ³⁰ After him has Hananiah son of Shelemiah strengthened, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, a second measure; after him has Meshullam son of Berechiah strengthened, over-against his chamber.

¹⁹ And it comes to pass, when the gates of Jerusalem have been dark before the sabbath, that I speak, and the doors are shut, and I say, that they do not open them till after the sabbath; and of my servants I have stationed at the gates; there does not come in a burden on the sabbath-day.

¹ {A Song of Ascents, Solomonic{ If Yahweh Himself is not building a house, Its builders toil futilely in it. If Yahweh Himself is not guarding a city, The sentinel is alert futilely."

¹⁶ Lo! I am dispatching you as a sheep in the midst of wolves. Become, then, prudent as serpents and artless as doves."

¹² And built by you shall be places deserted for the eon. The foundations of generation after generation shall you raise. And you shall be called, "Diker of the breach, restorer of tracks you ceased to use."

⁴ Is it the season for you yourselves to dwell in your ceiled houses while this house is deserted? ⁵ And now, thus says Yahweh of hosts:Set your heart on your ways." ⁶ You have sown for increase, yet it brings in little. You eat, yet without satisfaction; drink, yet without gratification; are clothed, yet without warmth to it. And the hireling's hire goes into a pierced pouch."

³³ Yet seek first the kingdom and its righteousness, and these all shall be added to you."

¹ And all Israel have reckoned themselves by genealogy, and lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah--they were removed to Babylon for their trespass. ² And the first inhabitants, who [are] in their possession, in their cities, of Israel, [are] the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim. ³ And in Jerusalem dwelt of the sons of Judah, and of the sons of Benjamin, and of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh. ⁴ Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, of the sons of Pharez, son of Judah. ⁵ And of the Shilonite:Asaiah the first-born, and his sons. ⁶ And of the sons of Zerah:Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety. ⁷ And of the sons of Benjamin:Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah, ⁸ and Ibneiah son of Jeroham, and Elah son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah. ⁹ And their brethren, according to their generations, [are] nine hundred and fifty and six. All these [are] men, heads of fathers, according to the house of their fathers.

⁶² These sought their registration; yet they were not found as being registered. So they were, as sullied, disqualified for the priesthood.

²⁷ Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of our fathers, Who has put such as this into the heart of the king to beautify the House of Yahweh in Jerusalem.

¹⁹ Remember for me, O my Elohim, for good, all that I have done for this people.

¹⁴ Be mindful, O my Elohim, of Tobiah, and of Sanballat, according to these his works, and also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets who have been making me afraid.

⁶⁴ These have sought their register among those reckoning themselves by genealogy, and it has not been found, and they are redeemed from the priesthood,

¹⁰ Yet, in the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace, which is in me, did not come to be for naught, but more exceedingly than all of them toil I - yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me."

⁵ (not that we are competent of ourselves, to reckon anything as of ourselves, but our competency is of God),

¹⁶ Now thanks be to God, Who is imparting the same diligence for you to the heart of Titus,

¹² So that, my beloved, according as you always obey, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, with fear and trembling, be carrying your own salvation into effect, ¹³ for it is God Who is operating in you to will as well as to work for the sake of His delight.

²⁹ for which I am toiling also, struggling in accord with His operation, which is operating in me with power."

¹⁶ Be not deceived, my beloved brethren!"

¹⁴ And he has removed all Jerusalem, and all the chiefs, and all the mighty ones of valor--ten thousand [is] the removal--and every artificer and smith, none has been left save the poor of the people of the land. ¹⁵ And he removes Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the mother of the king, and the wives of the king, and his eunuchs, and the mighty ones of the land--he has caused a removal to go from Jerusalem to Babylon, ¹⁶ and all the men of valor seven thousand, and the artificers and the smiths a thousand, the whole [are] mighty men, warriors; and the king of Babylon brings them in a captivity to Babylon.

¹¹ And the rest of the people, those left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude, has Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners removed;"

¹ And the people of the land take Jehoahaz son of Josiah, and cause him to reign instead of his father in Jerusalem. ² A son of three and twenty years [is] Jehoahaz in his reigning, and three months he has reigned in Jerusalem, ³ and turn him aside does the king of Egypt in Jerusalem, and fines the land a hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold;" ⁴ and the king of Egypt causes Eliakim his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem, and turns his name to Jehoiakim; and Jehoahaz his brother has Necho taken, and brings him in to Egypt. ⁵ A son of twenty and five years [is] Jehoiakim in his reigning, and eleven years he has reigned in Jerusalem, and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh his Elohim;" ⁶ against him has Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon come up, and binds him in brazen fetters to take him away to Babylon. ⁷ And of the vessels of the house of Yahweh has Nebuchadnezzar brought in to Babylon, and puts them in his temple in Babylon. ⁸ And the rest of the matters of Jehoiakim, and his abominations that he has done, and that which is found against him, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, and reign does Jehoiachin his son in his stead. ⁹ A son of eight years is Jehoiachin in his reigning, and three months and ten days he has reigned in Jerusalem, and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh;" ¹⁰ and at the turn of the year has king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brings him in to Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of Yahweh, and causes Zedekiah his brother to reign over Judah and Jerusalem. ¹¹ A son of twenty and one years [is] Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he has reigned in Jerusalem;" ¹² and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh his Elohim, he has not been humbled before Jeremiah the prophet [speaking] from the mouth of Yahweh;" ¹³ and also, against king Nebuchadnezzar he has rebelled, who had caused him to swear by Elohim, and he hardens his neck, and strengthens his heart, against turning back unto Yahweh, Elohim of Israel. ¹⁴ Also, all the heads of the priests, and the people, having multiplied to commit a trespass according to all the abominations of the nations, and they defile the house of Yahweh that He has sanctified in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And Yahweh, Elohim of their fathers, sends unto them by the hand of His messengers--rising early and sending--for He has had pity on His people, and on His habitation, ¹⁶ and they are mocking at the messengers of Elohim, and despising His words, and acting deceitfully with His prophets, till the going up of the fury of Yahweh against His people--till there is no healing. ¹⁷ And He causes to go up against them the king of the Chaldeans, and he slays their chosen ones by the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and has had no pity on young man and virgin, old man and very aged--the whole He has given into his hand. ¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of Elohim, the great and the small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and of his princes--the whole he has brought in to Babylon. ¹⁹ And they burn the house of Elohim, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and all its palaces they have burnt with fire, and all its desirable vessels--to destruction. ²⁰ And he removes those left of the sword unto Babylon, and they are to him and to his sons for servants, till the reigning of the kingdom of Persia, ²¹ to fulfil the word of Yahweh in the mouth of Jeremiah, till the land has enjoyed its sabbaths; all the days of the desolation it kept sabbath--to the fulness of seventy years. ²² And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, at the completion of the word of Yahweh in the mouth of Jeremiah, has Yahweh waked up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he causes an intimation to pass over into all his kingdom, and also in writing, saying, ²³ `Thus said Cyrus king of Persia, All kingdoms of the earth has Yahweh, Elohim of the heavens, given to me, and He has laid a charge on me to build to Him a house in Jerusalem, that [is] in Judah; who is among you of all His people? Yahweh his Elohim [is] with him, and he does go up..

¹ These were the sons of the province who came up from the captivity of the deportation that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported to Babylon; they returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each man to his city, ² those who came with Zerubbabel:Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. So they were, as sullied, disqualified for the priesthood. ⁶³ Hence the Tirshatha said to them that they should not eat from the holy of holies until a priest would stand up with Urim and Thummim. ⁶⁴ The entire assembly as one group was 42,360, ⁶⁵ besides their male servants and their maidservants, those being 7,337; They also had 200 male singers and female singers. ⁶⁶ Their horses were 736; their mules--245; ⁶⁷ their camels--435; their donkeys--6,720. ⁶⁸ As for some of the patriarchal heads, when they came to the site of the House of Yahweh Who is in Jerusalem, they gave voluntarily for the House of the One, Elohim, to make it stand on its site. ⁶⁹ According to their fortune they gave to the treasury of the work:gold--61,000 darics, silver--5,000 minas, and tunics for priests--100. ⁷⁰ The priests, the Levites and some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers and the Nethinim were dwelling in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

⁸ Let it become known to the king that we departed to the province of Judah to the great House of Eloah. It is being rebuilt of dressed stone and timber placed in the sidewalls. This work is thoroughly done and prospering under their hands.

² But it was in the castle of Ecbatana in the province of Media that one roll was found, and this was written within it:Memorandum.

¹ In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, come has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon and all his force unto Jerusalem, and they lay siege against it;" ² in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, has the city been broken up;" ³ and come in do all the heads of the king of Babylon, and they sit at the middle gate, Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the rest of the heads of the king of Babylon." ⁴ And it comes to pass, when Zedekiah king of Judah, and all the men of war, have seen them, that they flee and go forth by night from the city, the way of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls, and he goes forth the way of the plain." ⁵ And the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after them, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and they take him, and bring him up unto Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaks with him--judgments." ⁶ And the king of Babylon slaughters the sons of Zedekiah, in Riblah, before his eyes, yea, all the freemen of Judah has the king of Babylon slaughtered." ⁷ And the eyes of Zedekiah he has blinded, and he binds him with brazen fetters, to bring him in to Babylon." ⁸ And the house of the king, and the house of the people, have the Chaldeans burnt with fire, and the walls of Jerusalem they have broken down." ⁹ And the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to him, and the remnant of the people who are left, has Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, removed [to] Babylon." ¹⁰ And of the poor people, who have nothing, has Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left in the land of Judah, and he gives to them vineyards and fields on the same day." ¹¹ And Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon gives a charge concerning Jeremiah, by the hand of Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, saying, ¹² `Take him, and place your eyes upon him, and do no evil thing to him, but as he speaks unto you, so do with him.'" <sup>13</sup> And Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners sends, and Nebushazban, chief of the eunuchs, and Nergal-Sharezer, chief of the Mages, and all the chiefs of the king of Babylon;" <sup>14</sup> yea, they send and take Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and give him unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to carry him home, and he dwells in the midst of the people." <sup>15</sup> And unto Jeremiah has a word of Yahweh been--in his being detained in the court of the prison--saying: <sup>16</sup> `Go, and you have spoken to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying:Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of Israel:Lo, I am bringing in My words unto this city for evil, and not for good, and they have been before you in that day." ¹⁷ And I have delivered you in that day--an affirmation of Yahweh--and you are not given into the hand of the men of whose face you are afraid, ¹⁸ for I do certainly deliver you, and by sword you fall not, and your life has been to you for a spoil, for you have trusted in Me--an affirmation of Yahweh.'"

¹ A son of twenty and one years [is] Zedekiah in his reigning, and eleven years he has reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah." ² and he does the evil thing in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Jehoiakim has done, ³ for, because of the anger of Yahweh, it has been in Jerusalem and Judah till He has cast them from before His face, and Zedekiah does rebel against the king of Babylon." ⁴ And it comes to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come has Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon--he and all his force--against Jerusalem, and they encamp against it, and build against it a fortification round about;" ⁵ and the city comes into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. ⁶ In the fourth month, in the ninth of the month, when the famine is severe in the city, and there has been no bread for the people of the land, ⁷ then is the city broken up, and all the men of war flee, and go forth from the city by night, the way of the gate between the two walls, that [is] by the king's garden--and the Chaldeans [are] by the city round about--and they go the way of the plain." ⁸ And the forces of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his forces have been scattered from him, ⁹ and they capture the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he speaks with him--judgments." ¹⁰ And the king of Babylon slaughters the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also all the princes of Judah has he slaughtered in Riblah;" ¹¹ and the eyes of Zedekiah he has blinded, and he binds him in brazen fetters, and the king of Babylon brings him to Babylon, and puts him in the house of inspection unto the day of his death." ¹² And in the fifth month, in the tenth of the month--it [is] the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon--come has Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners; he has stood before the king of Babylon in Jerusalem, ¹³ and he burns the house of Yahweh, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house he has burned with fire, ¹⁴ and all the walls of Jerusalem round about broken down have all the forces of the Chaldeans that [are] with the chief of the executioners. ¹⁵ And of the poor of the people, and the remnant of the people who are left in the city, and those who are falling away, who have fallen unto the king of Babylon, and the remnant of the multitude, has Nebuzar-Adan chief of the executioners, removed;" ¹⁶ and of the poor of the land has Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, left for vine-dressers and for husbandmen." ¹⁷ And the pillars of brass that [are] to the house of Yahweh, and the bases, and the brasen sea that [is] in the house of Yahweh, have the Chaldeans broken, and they bear away all the brass of them to Babylon;" ¹⁸ and the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they minister, they have taken away;" ¹⁹ and the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the pots, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups, the gold of that which [is] gold, and the silver of that which [is] silver, has the chief of the executioners taken." ²⁰ The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve brazen oxen that [are] beneath the bases, that king Solomon made for the house of Yahweh, there was no weighing of the brass of all these vessels." ²¹ As to the pillars, eighteen cubits [is] the height of the one pillar, and a cord of twelve cubits does compass it, and its thickness [is] four fingers hollow." ²² And the chapiter upon it [is] of brass, and the height of the one chapiter [is] five cubits, and net-work and pomegranates [are] on the chapiter round about, the whole [is] of brass; and like these have the second pillar, and pomegranates." ²³ And the pomegranates are ninety and six on a side, all the pomegranates [are] a hundred on the net-work round about." ²⁴ And the chief of the executioners takes Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold, ²⁵ and out of the city he has taken a certain eunuch, who has been inspector over the men of war, and seven men of those seeing the king's face, who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who musters the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land, who are found in the midst of the city;" ²⁶ and Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, takes them, and brings them unto the king of Babylon to Riblah, ²⁷ and the king of Babylon smites them, and puts them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removes Judah from off its own ground." ²⁸ This [is] the people whom Nebuchadrezzar has removed:in the seventh year, of Jews, three thousand and twenty and three;" ²⁹ in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar--from Jerusalem, souls, eight hundred thirty and two;" ³⁰ in the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar, has Nebuzar-Adan chief of the guard removed of Jewish souls, seven hundred forty and five; all the souls [are] four thousand and six hundred." ³¹ And it comes to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and fifth of the month, has Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reign, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brings him out from the house of restraint, ³² and speaks with him good things, and sets his throne above the throne of the kings who [are] with him in Babylon, ³³ and he has changed his prison garments, and he has eaten bread before him continually, all the days of his life." ³⁴ And his allowance--a continual allowance--has been given to him by the king of Babylon, the matter of a day in its day, till the day of his death--all days of his life."

⁸ In the second year of their coming to the site of the House of Elohim at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak and the remnants of their brother priests and Levites started with all who had come from the captivity to Jerusalem. They installed Levites from twenty years of age and above to oversee the work on the House of Yahweh. ⁹ So Jeshua and his sons and his brothers stood as one group with Kadmiel and his sons, of the sons of Hodaviah, to oversee those doing the work on the House of Elohim, also the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brothers, the Levites.

² Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the House of Eloah in Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of the One, Eloah, giving them aid.

² and the king said to me, `Wherefore [is] your face sad, and you not sick? this is nothing except sadness of heart;' and I fear very much,

¹ And these [are] the priests and the Levites who came up with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua; Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

³ Shechaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,

⁷ Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah; these [are] heads of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

¹⁰ And Jeshua has begotten Joiakim, and Joiakim has begotten Eliashib, and Eliashib has begotten Joiada,

¹¹ And their faces and their wings are separate from above, to each [are] two joining together, and two are covering their bodies."

¹ In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on day one of the month, the word of Yahweh comes by the hand of Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, viceroy of Judah, and to Joshua, son of Josedech, the great priest, saying,

¹ Then He is showing me Joshua, the great priest, standing before the messenger of Yahweh, and Satan, standing at his right, for his adversary." ² And Yahweh is saying to Satan, Yahweh is rebuking you, Satan. And Yahweh Who is choosing Jerusalem is rebuking you. Is not this wooden poker being rescued from the fire? ³ Yet Joshua comes to be clothed in filthy garments, and is standing before the messenger."

⁸ and from the sons of Shepatiah, Zebadiah son of Michael, and with him 80 males;"

¹⁸ for many in Judah are sworn to him, for he [is] son-in-law to Shechaniah son of Arah, and Jehohanan his son has taken the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah;"

⁶ the sons of Pahath-moab, of the sons of Jeshua and Joab--2,812;"

⁴ And Ezra the scribe stands on a tower of wood that they made for the purpose, and Mattithiah stands near him, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right; and on his left Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddana, Zechariah, Meshullam.

² Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them:In case anyone makes an extraordinary vow to Yahweh, involving your appraisal of human souls. ³ then your appraisal will be for the male from twenty years old unto sixty years old:your appraisal will be fifty shekels of silver, by the shekel of the holy place;" ⁴ and if she is a female, then your appraisal will be thirty shekels. ⁵ If he is from five years old unto twenty years old then your appraisal will be:for the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. ⁶ If the person is from a month old unto five years old then your appraisal will be:for the male five shekels of silver, and for the female your appraisal will be three shekels of silver. ⁷ If the person is from sixty years old and upward, if a male, then your appraisal will be fifteen shekels and for a female ten shekels. ⁸ Yet if he is too reduced by poverty for your appraisal then one will stand him before the priest, and the priest will appraise him. Corresponding to what the vower's means can afford shall the priest appraise him.

²³ and now, cursed are you, and none of you is cut off [from being] a servant, even hewers of wood and drawers of water, for the house of my Elohim.. ²⁴ And they answer Joshua and say, `Because it was certainly declared to your servants, that Yahweh your Elohim commanded Moses His servant to give to you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you; and we fear greatly for ourselves because of you, and we do this thing;" ²⁵ and now, lo, we [are] in your hand, as [it is] good, and as [it is] right in your eyes to do to us--do.. ²⁶ And he does to them so, and delivers them from the hand of the sons of Israel, and they have not slain them;" ²⁷ and Joshua makes them on that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the company, and for the altar of Yahweh, unto this day, at the place which He does choose.

⁵⁵ The sons of the servants of Solomon:the sons of Sotai, the sons of Sophereth, the sons of Peruda, ⁵⁶ the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel, ⁵⁷ the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth the sons of Hazzebaim, the sons of Ami. ⁵⁸ All the Nethinim and the sons of the servants of Solomon--392. ⁵⁹ These were the ones coming up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan and Immer; yet they were not able to tell the house of their fathers or their seed, whether they were descended from Israel. ⁶⁰ the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda--652.

²⁷ And it comes to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi, son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the Bene-Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim,

³¹ And Barzillai the Gileadite has gone down from Rogelim, and passes over the Jordan with the king, to send him away over the Jordan;" ³² and Barzillai [is] very aged, a son of eighty years, and he has sustained the king in his abiding in Mahanaim, for he [is] a very great man;" ³³ and the king said unto Barzillai, `Pass you over with me, and I have sustained you with me in Jerusalem..

⁷ `And to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite you do do kindness, and they have been among those eating at your table, for so they drew near unto me in my fleeing from the face of Absalom your brother.

⁶¹ And from the sons of the priests:the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name. ⁶² These sought their registration; yet they were not found as being registered. ³ If the anointed priest should sin so as to bring guilt on the people, then he shall bring near for his sin with which he has sinned a flawless young bull calf of the herd, to Yahweh as a sin offering.

¹ And all Israel have reckoned themselves by genealogy, and lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Israel and Judah--they were removed to Babylon for their trespass.

²⁹ Be mindful of them, O my Elohim, for the redeemed of the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.

¹¹ Now the king, entering to gaze at those lying back at table, perceived there a man who has not put on wedding apparel." ¹² And he is saying to him, 'Comrade, how did you enter here having no wedding apparel?' Yet he was still." ¹³ Then the king said to the servants, 'Binding his feet and hands, cast him out into outer darkness.' There shall be lamentation and gnashing of teeth."

³⁰ You will put the Urim and the Thummim into the breastplate of judgment, and they will come to be on Aaron's heart when he enters before Yahweh. Thus Aaron will bear the judgment of the sons of Israel on his heart before Yahweh continually.

As for other flesh, everyone clean may eat of the flesh. ²⁰ Yet the soul who eats flesh from the sacrifice of peace offerings, which are to Yahweh, while his uncleanness is on him, that soul will be cut off from his kinsmen.

¹⁷ For what reason did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? For it was a holy of holies, and He gave it to you to bear the depravity of the congregation, to make a propitiatory shelter over them before Yahweh. ¹⁸ Behold, its blood was not brought to the holy place inside. You should have eaten, yea eaten it in the holy place, just as I have given instructions.

²¹ Any man of the seed of Aaron the priest, in whom there is a blemish, shall not come close to bring near the fire offerings of Yahweh. Since a blemish is in him, he shall not come close to bring near the bread of his Elohim. ²² He may eat the bread of his Elohim, of the holy of holies and of the holy things. ²³ Only he shall not come to the curtain, nor shall he come close to the altar, for there is a blemish in him. He shall not profane My sanctuaries, for I, Yahweh, am hallowing them.

²¹ And before Eleazar the priest shall he stand, and he will ask for him the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh. At his bidding shall they go forth and at his bidding they shall enter, he and all the sons of Israel with him, the whole congregation.

⁸ About Levi he said:May your Thummim and your Urim be for your benign man whom you probed at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah,

⁶³ Hence the Tirshatha said to them that they should not eat from the holy of holies until a priest would stand up with Urim and Thummim.

⁹ And Nehemiah--he [is] the Tirshatha--said (and Ezra the priest, the scribe, and the Levites who are instructing the people) to all the people, `To-day is holy to Yahweh your Elohim, do not mourn, nor weep:' for all the people are weeping at their hearing the words of the law.

Doors of copper will I break, and bars of iron will I hack down."

The princes brought near their approach present before the altar. ¹¹ And Yahweh said to Moses:One prince for one day, one prince for another day shall bring near their approach present for the dedication of the altar. ¹² The one bringing near his approach present on the first day was Nahshon son of Amminadab, for the stock of Judah. ¹³ And his approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ¹⁴ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ¹⁵ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ¹⁶ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ¹⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Nathanael son of Zuar. ²⁴ On the third day it was the prince for the sons of Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon. ²⁵ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ²⁶ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ²⁷ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ²⁸ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ²⁹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Elishama son of Ammihud. ⁵⁴ On the eighth day it was the prince for the sons of Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. ⁵⁵ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ⁵⁶ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ⁵⁷ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ⁵⁸ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ⁵⁹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Gamaliel son of Pedahzur. ⁶⁰ On the ninth day it was the prince for the sons of Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni. ⁶¹ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ⁶² one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ⁶³ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ⁶⁴ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering ⁶⁵ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Abidan son of Gideoni. ⁶⁶ On the tenth day it was the prince for the sons of Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai. ⁶⁷ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ⁶⁸ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ⁶⁹ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ⁷⁰ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ⁷¹ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai. ⁷² On the eleventh day it was the day for the prince for the sons of Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran. ⁷³ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ⁷⁴ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ⁷⁵ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ⁷⁶ one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ⁷⁷ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Pagiel son of Ocran. ⁷⁸ On the twelfth day it was the day for the prince for the sons of Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan. ⁷⁹ His approach present was one silver dish, a hundred thirty shekels its weight, one silver sprinkling bowl of seventy shekels by the shekel of the holy place, both of them full of flour mingled with oil for an approach present, ⁸⁰ one spoon of ten shekels of gold full of incense, ⁸¹ one young bull (a calf of the herd), one ram, one year-old he-lamb for an ascent offering, ⁸² one hairy one of the goats for a sin offering, ⁸³ and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five he-goats, five year-old he-lambs. This was the approach present of Ahira son of Enan. ⁸⁴ This was the dedication offering of the altar on the day it was anointed by the princes of Israel:twelve silver dishes, twelve silver sprinkling bowls, twelve gold spoons;" ⁸⁵ a single silver dish weighed a hundred thirty shekels, a single sprinkling bowl weighed seventy shekels. All the silver of the vessels was two thousand four hundred shekels by the shekel of the holy place. ⁸⁶ The twelve gold spoons, full of incense, weighed ten shekels each, ten a spoon, by the shekel of the holy place. All the gold of the spoons was a hundred twenty shekels.

⁴⁵ and the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls; and all these vessels, that Hiram has made to king Solomon [for] the house of Yahweh, [are] of brass--polished.

¹⁷ and the forks, and the bowls, and the cups of pure gold, and for the basins of gold, by weight for basin and basin, and for the basins of silver, by weight for basin and basin,

³ `And again, because of my delighting in the house of my Elohim, the substance I have--a peculiar treasure of gold and silver--I have given for the house of my Elohim, even over and above all I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary. ⁴ three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses, ⁵ even gold for [things of] gold, and silver for [those of] silver, and for all the work by the hand of artificers; and who [is] he that is offering willingly to consecrate his hand to-day to Yahweh?. ⁶ And the heads of the fathers, and the heads of the tribes of Israel, and the heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, even to the heads of the work of the king, offer willingly. ⁷ And they give for the service of the house of Elohim, of gold--talents five thousand, and drams a myriad; and of silver--talents ten thousand, and of brass--a myriad and eight thousand talents; and of iron--a hundred thousand talents;" ⁸ and he with whom stones are found has given to the treasury of the house of Yahweh, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ And the people rejoice because of their offering willingly, for with a perfect heart they have offered willingly to Yahweh; and also David the king has rejoiced--great joy.

⁸ And he makes ten tables, and places in the temple, five on the right, and five on the left; and he makes bowls of gold a hundred.

¹¹ And Huram makes the pots, and the shovels, and the bowls, and Huram finishes to make the work that he made for king Solomon in the house of Elohim;"

⁶⁵ and the Tirshatha said to them that they eat not of the most holy things till the standing up of the priest with Urim and Thummim.

¹⁹ and the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the pots, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups, the gold of that which [is] gold, and the silver of that which [is] silver, has the chief of the executioners taken."

¹⁹ Who does not repute chiefs, Nor is He partial to the rich-man above the poor,For they all are the work of His hands?

¹ Now, looking up, He perceived the rich casting their approach presents into the treasury." ² Yet He perceived a certain widow also, a drudge, casting there two mites." ³ And He said, "Truly, I am saying to you that this poor widow casts in more than all." ⁴ For all these cast out of their superfluity into the approach presents of God, yet this woman, out of her want, casts in all the livelihood which she had."

¹² For if eagerness lies before, it is most acceptable according to whatever one may have, not according to what he has not."

⁷⁰ The priests, the Levites and some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers and the Nethinim were dwelling in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
