¹ Now before the feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. ² And during supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, ³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God, ⁴ rose from supper, laid aside his garments, took a towel and girded himself. ⁵ After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. ⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" ⁷ Jesus answered him, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." ⁸ Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me." ⁹ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!" ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not every one of you." ¹¹ For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean." ¹² When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and returned to his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. ¹⁸ I am not speaking of you all. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'he who ate my bread has lifted up his heel against me.' ¹⁹ Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does take place, you may believe that I am he. ²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives anyone I send receives me; and he who receives me receives him who sent me." ²¹ When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, "Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." ²² The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. ²³ One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was leaning close to the breast of Jesus. ²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to him and said, "Ask who it is of whom he speaks." ²⁵ Then, leaning back on the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?" ²⁶ Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ Then after the bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly." ²⁸ But no one at the table knew why he said this to him. ²⁹ Some thought that, because Judas had the money box, Jesus was telling him, "Buy what we need for the feast"; or, that he should give something to the poor. ³⁰ Having received the piece of bread, he went out immediately. And it was night. ³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and in him God is glorified. ³² If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. ³³ Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you. ³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ³⁵ By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." ³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow afterward." ³⁷ Peter said to him, "Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." ³⁸ Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow, till you have denied me three times.

² "You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified." ³ Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, ⁴ and they plotted to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. ⁵ But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be a riot among the people."

⁴⁵ Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

¹ It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him. ² But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people."

⁵¹ When the time drew near for him to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

³² And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course.' ³³ Nevertheless I must journey today and tomorrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

¹ Now the feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover. ² And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to kill him, for they feared the people.

⁵³ When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

⁴ Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.

⁶ Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.

³⁰ Then they sought to take him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

²⁰ These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

⁹ Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. ¹⁰ But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

⁵⁵ Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

²³ Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going to God,

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

²⁸ You have heard me say to you, 'I am going away and coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, 'I am going to the Father,' for the Father is greater than I.

⁹ As the Father has loved me, I also have loved you; abide in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.

¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are my friends if you do what I command you.

⁵ But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' ⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

²⁸ I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you,

⁵ And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made.

⁹ I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. ¹⁰ And all mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. ¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name the name you gave me that they may be one, even as we are one.

¹³ But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. ¹⁴ I have given them your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

¹⁶ They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

²⁶ I have made known to them your name, and will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them."

⁴ Then Jesus, knowing all that was to come upon him, went forward and said to them, "Whom do you seek?"

³⁷ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

⁸ who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, ²⁶ that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

⁶ but Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold fast to our confidence and the hope of which we boast.

¹⁴ For we have come to share in Christ if we hold our first confidence firm to the end,

¹¹ And we desire each one of you to show the same diligence in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end,

¹³ Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be sober in spirit, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

¹⁹ We love because he first loved us.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

³ Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, who was numbered of the twelve.

³¹ "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?" ⁷¹ He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who was to betray him, though one of the twelve.

⁴ rose from supper, laid aside his garments, took a towel and girded himself.

²⁶ Jesus answered, "It is he to whom I shall give this piece of bread when I have dipped it." And having dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ Then after the bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "What you are going to do, do quickly."

³ But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?

¹⁶ But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

³ Among them we all once lived in the lusts of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself does not tempt anyone. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own desire. ¹⁵ Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full-grown, it brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

¹⁷ for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and giving over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

²⁷ "All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

²² All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

¹⁸ No one has ever seen God; God the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.

¹³ No one has ascended into heaven, but he who came from heaven the Son of Man.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.

²² For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. ²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. ²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, ²⁷ and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

²⁹ But I know him, for I am from him, and he sent me."

³³ Then Jesus said to them, "I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to him who sent me.

⁴² Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I proceeded and came forth from God; I have not come of my own accord, but he sent me.

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. ²⁸ I came from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and going to the Father."

² as you have given him authority over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to all those you have given him.

⁵ And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made. ⁶ "I have manifested your name to the men whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. ⁷ Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. ⁸ For I have given them the words which you have given me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me.

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name the name you gave me that they may be one, even as we are one. ¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name the name you gave me. I have guarded them, and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."

²⁷ "For God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "All things are put in subjection under him," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things under him.

²¹ far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. ²² And he put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things for the church,

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

² but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the world.

⁸ and put everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subject to him. ⁹ But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants whom the master finds watching when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit at table, and will come and serve them.

⁷ "Will any one of you, who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep, say to him when he has come in from the field, 'Come at once and sit down to eat'?

²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not the one who sits at the table? But I am among you as One who serves.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

⁶ who, though he was in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, ⁷ but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross.

³⁸ and as she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the perfume.

⁴⁴ Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.

⁸ Peter said to him, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me."

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not every one of you."

¹² When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and returned to his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

¹⁶ Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.'

¹¹ And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

²⁶ that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,

¹⁰ and she must be well known for her good deeds, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, relieved those in distress, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.

³ For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by men and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,

²² let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

⁶ This is he who came by water and bloodJesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood.

¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹¹ I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. ¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire." ¹³ Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. ¹⁴ But John tried to prevent him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?"

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"

²⁷ It is he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie."

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand this at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and that they had done these things to him.

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not every one of you." ¹¹ For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean." ¹² When he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and returned to his place, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?

³⁶ Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow afterward."

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rains. ⁸ You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. ⁹ Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. ¹⁰ As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. ¹¹ Behold, we call those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

²² Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him saying, "Never, Lord! This shall never happen to you!"

²⁹ He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and went.

³³ Peter declared to him, "Even if all fall away because of you, I will never fall away."

³⁵ Peter said to him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples.

⁵ Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?"

¹⁸ Let no one disqualify you for the prize by delighting in self-abasement and the worship of the angels, taking his stand on visions he has seen, puffed up without cause by his fleshly mind,

²³ These indeed have an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but they are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

⁵ he saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but because of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,

²² Indeed, under the law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. ²³ It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

⁴ For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. ⁵ Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; ⁶ in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, 'Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,' as it is written of me in the roll of the book." ⁸ When he said above, "You did not desire, nor did you take pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law), ⁹ then he said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. ¹⁰ And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood. See to it yourselves."

²¹ And corresponding to that, baptism now saves younot the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good consciencethrough the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

¹² And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

²⁰ Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. ²¹ So I find it to be a law that when I want to do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, ²³ but I see in my members another law, at war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members.

¹⁷ Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come.

²¹ For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

¹ Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

²² You were taught, with regard to your former manner of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful lusts; ²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, ²⁴ and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

²⁶ that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, ²⁷ that he might present the church to himself in all her glory, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and blameless.

²³ Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ since they relate only to food and drink and various washings regulations for the flesh imposed until the time of reformation.

² For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. ⁸ If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

²⁴ The Son of Man goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born." ²⁵ Then Judas, who was betraying him, answered, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."

²⁵ and he had no need for anyone to bear witness of man, for he knew what was in man.

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray him. ⁶⁵ And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by the Father." ⁶⁶ From this time many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."

¹² While I was with them, I kept them in your name the name you gave me. I have guarded them, and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

⁵¹ Jesus asked, "Have you understood all these things?" "Yes," they said to him.

¹³ And he said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

⁷ Jesus answered him, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand."

²¹ "Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²² On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'

⁸ But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master, and you are all brethren. ⁹ And do not call anyone on earth your 'Father,' for you have one Father, he who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Nor are you to be called 'Teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.

⁴⁶ "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?

⁴³ Simon answered, "I suppose the one to whom he forgave more." And he said to him, "You have judged rightly."

²⁸ And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live."

²⁸ And when she had said this, she went her way and called Mary her sister, saying, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."

⁸ If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

⁶ yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we exist.

³ Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

⁸ More than that, I count everything to be loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ

¹⁹ You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believeand shudder.

¹⁴ since I know that the putting aside of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. ¹⁵ And I will see to it that after my departure you will be able at any time to call these things to mind. ¹⁶ For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

²⁶ Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you must be your servant. ²⁷ And whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave ²⁸ just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

⁴³ But it shall not be so among you. But whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴ and whoever wants to be first among you must be slave of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

²⁶ But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the youngest, and he who leads as one who serves. ²⁷ For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not the one who sits at the table? But I am among you as One who serves.

³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁰ Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; outdo one another in showing honor.

¹⁶ Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

¹ We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. ³ For even Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."

¹³ Therefore, if food causes my brother to fall, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to fall.

¹⁹ For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, that I might win the more. ²⁰ To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the lawthough not being myself under the lawso that I might win those under the law. ²¹ To those who are without law, I became as one without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without the law. ²² To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, so that I might by all means save some.

¹ I, Paul, myself urge you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold to you when I am away!

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

¹ Brethren, even if anyone is caught in a trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. ² Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

² make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. ³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. ⁴ Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. ⁵ Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁸ Although he was a Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered; ⁹ and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him,

² fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹ Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

⁵ Likewise you that are younger men be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

⁵ May the God of patience and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus,

² and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

²¹ For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

¹⁷ For it is better to suffer for doing right, if that should be God's will, than for doing wrong. ¹⁸ For Christ also died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit;

⁶ he who says he abides in him ought to walk as he walked.

²⁴ "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call those of his household!

⁴⁰ A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

³ Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²⁴ "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

⁵⁰ For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

³⁸ This is the great and first commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." ⁴¹ While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

²⁸ But he said, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"

⁴⁷ And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not ready himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. ⁴⁸ But he who did not know, and committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask the more.

¹⁴ You are my friends if you do what I command you.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. ¹⁵ And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love.

⁷ By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in godly fear prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place which he was to receive as an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

²⁵ But one who looks intently into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but a doer that acts, this man will be blessed in what he does.

²⁰ But are you willing to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is useless? ²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? ²² You see that faith was working with his works, and faith was completed by works, ²³ and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness", and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

¹⁷ Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.

¹⁴ Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.

³⁶ and a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'

²³ He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me.

²⁰ He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who dips bread into the dish with me.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not every one of you." ¹¹ For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, "You are not all clean."

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.

¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹³ And there is no creature hidden from his sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

²³ And I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

³ and said to him, "Are you the One who is to come, or shall we look for another?"

²⁵ See, I have told you beforehand.

¹³ This will turn into an opportunity for you to bear testimony.

¹⁵ John bore witness of him and cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks before me, for he was before me.'"

²³ He said to them, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. ²⁴ Therefore I told to you that you would die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."

⁵⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."

²⁹ And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. "I did not say these things to you at the beginning, because I was with you.

¹⁷ And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, ¹⁸ and the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore! And I have the keys of death and Hades.

⁴⁰ "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me. ⁴¹ He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. ⁴² And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."

⁴⁰ And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'

³⁷ "Whoever receives one of these little children in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me."

⁴⁸ and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great."

¹⁶ "He who hears you hears me, he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

⁴⁴ Then Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. ⁴⁵ And he who sees me sees him who sent me. ⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me should not remain in darkness. ⁴⁷ If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will condemn him on the last day.

¹⁴ and though my fleshly condition was a trial to you, you did not despise or scorn me, but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus himself.

⁶ Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him,

⁸ Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

²¹ And as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me."

³⁸ Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me."

⁵ And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at the hardness of their hearts, and said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

¹⁸ And as they were at table eating, Jesus said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me."

²¹ But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table. ²² For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!"

³³ When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

³⁵ Jesus wept.

³⁸ Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it.

²⁷ "Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, for this purpose I came to this hour.

¹⁶ "Brethren, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to those who arrested Jesus. ¹⁷ For he was counted among us and received his share in this ministry."

¹⁶ Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols.

² that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh.

¹² Now when I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened for me in the Lord, ¹³ I still had no rest in my mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took my leave of them and went on to Macedonia.

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that it might be plain that none of them were of us.

²² And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?"

¹⁹ They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, "Is it I?"

²³ Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this.

³ So the sisters sent to him, saying, "Lord, he whom you love is sick."

⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

³⁶ Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"

²⁵ Then, leaning back on the breast of Jesus, he said to him, "Lord, who is it?"

²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!"

² So she ran, and came to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him."

⁷ Then that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and threw himself into the sea.

²⁰ Peter turned and saw following them the disciple whom Jesus loved, who had leaned on his breast at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?"

²⁴ This is the disciple who testifies to these things, and who wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true.

¹⁶ he held in his right hand seven stars, out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in its strength.

²² But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, for he made signs to them and remained speechless.

⁷ So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.

¹⁷ But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Tell this to James and to the brethren." Then he left and went to another place.

¹⁶ Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:

⁴⁰ When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the steps, motioned to the people with his hand; and when there was a great hush, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

¹⁹ They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, "Is it I?" ²⁰ He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who dips bread into the dish with me.

²¹ But behold the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

⁴ But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, said, ⁵ "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" ⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief; and as he had the money box, he used to take what was put into it.

³⁰ Having received the piece of bread, he went out immediately. And it was night.

⁴⁵ Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation."

²⁵ Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."

³² Now a large herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; and they begged him to let them enter them. So he gave them permission. ³³ Then the demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.

¹³ Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself does not tempt anyone. ¹⁴ But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own desire. ¹⁵ Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is full-grown, it brings forth death.

³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my own needs and to the men who were with me. ³⁵ In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

¹⁰ All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.

²⁸ He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but rather must labor, doing useful work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with those in need.

¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood;

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. ¹¹ For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. ¹² And this will be a sign to you: you will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!"

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

³⁹ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

⁴ When Jesus heard it, he said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it."

²⁸ Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."

¹³ And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will take of what is mine and declare it to you.

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you, ² as you have given him authority over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to all those you have given him. ³ And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. ⁴ I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work which you have given me to do. ⁵ And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made. ⁶ "I have manifested your name to the men whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.

⁶ that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁷ Therefore, welcome one another, just as Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God. ⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised to show God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs, ⁹ and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name";

¹⁸ And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into his likeness from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

⁴ In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

⁵ he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, ⁶ to the praise of his glorious grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. ⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace ⁸ which he lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight

¹² in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of his glory.

⁷ so that in the coming ages he might show the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

¹⁴ having canceled the certificate of debt, which stood against us with its decrees. He took what was hostile away from us, nailing it to the cross. ¹⁵ And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them through him.

⁵ So also Christ did not exalt himself to become a high priest, but it was he who said to him, "You are my son, today I have begotten you"; ⁶ as he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek." ⁷ In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his godly fear.

²¹ Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

¹¹ Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belongs the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. ¹⁰ You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth." ¹¹ Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, ¹² saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" ¹³ And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" ¹⁴ And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshipped.

²¹ that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. ²² And the glory which you gave me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one: ²³ I in them, and you in me; that they may become perfectly one, and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them even as you have loved me. ²⁴ Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me may be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

² but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the world. ³ He is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his being, and upholds all things by the word of his power. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

²² who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels and authorities and powers subject to him.

²¹ To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.

²² And I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

¹ Then he showed me the river of the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb,

³ There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve him.

¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

³³ Then Jesus said to them, "I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to him who sent me. ³⁴ You will seek me, and you will not find me; where I am you cannot come."

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come." ²² Then the Jews said, "Will he kill himself, since he says, 'Where I go you cannot come'?"

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going. ³⁶ While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." When Jesus had said this, he departed and hid himself from them.

⁴ And you know the way where I am going." ⁵ Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?" ⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

¹⁹ A little while longer, and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.

¹⁶ "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me." ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" ¹⁸ They said, "What does he mean by 'a little while'? We do not know what he is saying." ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you asking yourselves about what I meant when I said, 'A little while, and you will not see me; and again a little while, and you will see me'? ²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. ²¹ When a woman is in labor she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but as soon as she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child has been born into the world. ²² So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

¹⁹ My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you

¹ My little children, I write this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

¹² This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁷ This I command you, that you love one another.

²¹ that they all may be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.

²⁶ And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and individually members of it.

⁴ Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous or boastful, it is not arrogant ⁵ or rude, it does not seek its own, it is not provoked, it keeps no record of wrongs, ⁶ it does not rejoice in evil, but rejoices with the truth. ⁷ Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹³ For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

² Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

¹⁰ So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

¹ Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, ² make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. ³ Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. ⁴ Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. ⁵ Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

⁴ because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you have for all the saints,

¹² So, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; ¹³ bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord forgave you, so you also must forgive.

¹² and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we do for you,

⁹ Now concerning love of the brethren you have no need to have any one write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another; ¹⁰ and indeed you do love all the brethren throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to do so more and more.

³ We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

¹ Let brotherly love continue.

⁸ If you really fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.

⁸ Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble in spirit. ⁹ Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead; for to this you were called, that you may inherit a blessing.

⁷ and to godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love.

⁷ Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. ⁸ Yet I am writing you a new commandment, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. ⁹ He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still. ¹⁰ He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,

¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death. ¹⁵ Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? ¹⁸ Little children, let us not love in word or tongue but in deed and in truth.

²³ And this is his commandment: that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he has commanded us.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. ⁸ He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. ⁹ In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

²¹ And this commandment we have from him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

⁵ And now I ask you, lady, not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning, that we love one another.

³² Now the company of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed that any of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had everything in common. ³³ And with great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. ³⁴ For there was not a needy person among them, For all who were owners of land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of the sales ³⁵ and laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

¹² Now many signs and wonders were done among the people by the hands of the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon's Porch. ¹³ None of the rest dared join them, but the people held them in high honor. ¹⁴ And all the more believers in the Lord, multitudes of men and women, were constantly added to their number,

⁵ But whoever keeps his word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in him:

¹⁰ He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.

¹⁰ By this it may be seen who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not do right is not of God, nor he who does not love his brother. ¹¹ For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, ¹² and not be like Cain who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.

²⁰ If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. ²¹ And this commandment we have from him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

³³ Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you.

² In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

⁴ And you know the way where I am going." ⁵ Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?"

¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said to one another, "What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"

¹⁸ Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go." ¹⁹ This he said to show by what death he would glorify God. And after this he said to him, "Follow me."

²¹ When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, "Lord, what about this man?" ²² Jesus said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me."

¹⁴ since I know that the putting aside of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night; for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' ³² But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." ³³ Peter declared to him, "Even if all fall away because of you, I will never fall away." ³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." ³⁵ Peter said to him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples.

²⁷ And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away; for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' ²⁸ But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee." ²⁹ Peter said to him, "Even if all fall away, I will not." ³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." ³¹ But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with you, I will not deny you!" And they all said the same.

³¹ "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren." ³³ But he said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death." ³⁴ He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day before you deny three times that you know me."

¹⁵ When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."

²⁴ But I do not consider my life of any account nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

³⁴ Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."

⁶⁹ Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." ⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about." ⁷¹ And when he went out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth." ⁷² But again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man!" ⁷³ After a little while those who stood by came up and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your accent betrays you." ⁷⁴ Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster crowed. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembered the word Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly.

³⁰ Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."

⁶⁶ Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. ⁶⁷ And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus." ⁶⁸ But he denied it, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you mean." And he went out into the gateway. ⁶⁹ And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, "This is one of them." ⁷⁰ But again he denied it. And after a little while again those standing near said to Peter, "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Gallilean." ⁷¹ But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, "I do not know this man of whom you speak." ⁷² And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had said to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." And he broke down and wept.

³⁴ He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day before you deny three times that you know me."

⁵⁶ And a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the firelight, looked at him, and said, "This man also was with him." ⁵⁷ But he denied it, saying, "Woman, I do not know him." ⁵⁸ And a little later some one else saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!" ⁵⁹ Then after about an hour had passed, another insisted, saying, "Certainly this fellow also was with him, for he is a Galilean." ⁶⁰ But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. ⁶¹ And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, "Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times." ⁶² And he went out and wept bitterly.

¹⁶ But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the girl who kept the door, and brought Peter in. ¹⁷ Then the girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this man's disciples, are you?" He said, "I am not."

²⁵ Now Simon Peter stood warming himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it and said, "I am not." ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?" ²⁷ Peter again denied it; and at once a rooster crowed.

¹² Therefore let any one who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
