¹ And when it was determined that he should sail into Italy and that Paul, with the other prisoners, should be delivered to a centurion, named Julius, of the band Augusta,

²⁰ You thought evil against me: but God turned it into good, that he might exalt me, as at present you see, and might save many people.

¹¹ But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

^{10 (76:11)} For the thought of man shall give praise to thee: and the remainders of the thought shall keep holiday to thee.

²¹ There are many thoughts in the heart of a man: but the will of the Lord shall stand firm.

²⁷ Teth. It is good for a man, when he hath borne the yoke from his youth.

⁵ And when he had entered into Capharnaum, there came to him a centurion, beseeching him, ⁶ And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, and is grievously tormented. ⁷ And Jesus saith to him: I will come and heal him. ⁸ And the centurion, making answer, said: Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed. ⁹ For I also am a man subject to authority, having under me soldiers; and I say to this, Go, and he goeth, and to another Come, and he cometh, and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. ¹⁰ And Jesus hearing this, marvelled; and said to them that followed him. Amen I say to you, I have not found so great faith in Israel.

⁵⁴ Now the centurion and they that were with him watching Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were sore afraid, saying: Indeed this was the Son of God.

² And the servant of a certain centurion who was dear to him, being sick, was ready to die.

⁴⁷ Now, the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.

¹ And there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, a centurion of that which is called the Italian band:

²² Who said: Cornelius, a centurion, a just man and one that feareth God, and having good testimony from all the nation of the Jews, received an answer of an holy angel, to send for thee into his house And to hear words of thee.

¹⁰ And as soon as he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia: being assured that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

² And finding a certain Jew, named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with Priscilla his wife (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome), he came to them.

²¹ And when these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying: After I have been there, I must see Rome also.

³² Who, forthwith taking with him soldiers and centurions, ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they left off beating Paul.

²⁶ Which the centurion hearing, went to the tribune and told him, saying: What art thou about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen.

¹¹ And the night following, the Lord standing by him, said: Be constant: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

¹⁷ And Paul, calling to him one of the centurions, said: Bring this young man to the tribune: for he hath some thing to tell him.

²³ And he commanded a centurion to keep him: and that he should be easy and that he should not prohibit any of his friends to minister unto him.

¹² Then Festus, having conferred with the council, answered: Hast thou appealed to Caesar? To Caesar shalt thou go.

²⁵ Yet have I found nothing that he hath committed worthy of death. But forasmuch as he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

⁶ And there, the centurion, finding a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy, removed us into it.

¹¹ But the centurion believed the pilot and the master of the ship, more than those things which were said by Paul.

⁴³ But the centurion, willing to save Paul, forbade it to be done. And he commanded that they who could swim should cast themselves first into the sea and save themselves and get to land.

¹⁶ And when we were come to Rome, Paul was suffered to dwell by himself, with a soldier that kept him.

²² For which cause also, I was hindered very much from coming to you and have been kept away till now. ²³ But now, having no more place in these countries and having a great desire these many years past to come unto you, ²⁴ When I shall begin to take my journey into Spain, I hope that, as I pass, I shall see you and be brought on my way thither by you: if first, in part, I shall have enjoyed you. ²⁵ But now I shall go to Jerusalem, to minister unto the saints. ²⁶ For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a contribution for the poor of the saints that are in Jerusalem. ²⁷ For it hath pleased them: and they are their debtors. For, if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they ought also in carnal things to minister to them. ²⁸ When therefore I shall have accomplished this and consigned to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain. ²⁹ And I know that when I come to you I shall come in the abundance of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
