² Are you then men alone, and shall wisdom die with you?

²⁴ Teach me, and I will hold my peace: and if I have been ignorant of any thing, instruct me. ²⁵ Why have you detracted the words of truth, whereas there is none of you that can reprove me?

⁸ For inquire of the former generation, and search diligently into the memory of the fathers: ⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant that our days upon earth are but a shadow ¹⁰ And they shall teach thee: they shall speak to thee, and utter words out of their hearts.

² Shall not he that speaketh much, hear also? or shall a man full of talk be justified?

⁶ That he might shew thee the secrets of wisdom, and that his law is manifold, and thou mightest understand that he exacteth much less of thee, than thy iniquity deserveth.

¹² A vain man is lifted up into pride, and thinketh himself born free like a wild ass's colt.

² Will a wise man answer as if he were speaking in the wind, and fill his stomach with burning heat?

⁴ Thou hast set their heart far from understanding, therefore they shall not be exalted.

¹⁰ Wherefore be you all converted, and come, and I shall not find among you any wise man.

³ The doctrine with which thou reprovest me, I will hear, and the spirit of my understanding shall answer for me.

⁷ For I hoped that greater age would speak, and that a multitude of years would teach wisdom. ⁸ But, as I see, there is a spirit in men, and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth understanding. ⁹ They that are aged are not the wise men, neither do the ancients understand judgment. ¹⁰ Therefore I will speak: Hearken to me, I also will shew you my wisdom. ¹¹ For I have waited for your words, I have given ear to your wisdom, as long as you were disputing in words. ¹² And as long as I thought you said some thing, I considered: but, as I see, there is none of you that can convince Job, and answer his words. ¹³ Lest you should say: We have found wisdom, God hath cast him down, not man.

¹¹ The rich man seemeth to himself wise: but the poor man that is prudent shall search him out.

²¹ Woe to you that are wise in your own eyes, and prudent in your own conceits.

¹⁰ We are fools for Christs sake, but you are wise in Christ: we are weak, but you are strong: you are honourable, but we without honour.

⁵ I speak to your shame. Is it so that there is not among you any one wise man that is able to judge between his brethren?
