¹ When Jesus had said these things, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples.

¹⁵ And the Lord God took man, and put him into the paradise of pleasure, to dress it, and to keep it.

²³ And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken.

²³ And they all wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself went over the brook Cedron, and all the people marched towards the way that looketh to the desert.

¹³ Moreover, he also removed his mother, Maacha, from being the princess in the sacrifices of Priapus, and in the grove which she had consecrated to him: and he destroyed her den, and broke in pieces the filthy idol, and burnt it by the torrent Cedron:

⁶ And he caused the grove to be carried out from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, to the valley of Cedron, and he burnt it there, and reduced it to dust, and cast the dust upon the graves of the common people.

¹² And the altars that were upon the top of the upper chamber of Achaz, which the kings of Juda had made, and the altars which Manasses had made in the two courts of the temple of the Lord, the king broke down: and he ran from thence, and cast the ashes of them into the torrent Cedron.

¹⁶ Moreover Maacha the mother of king Asa he deposed from the royal authority, because she had made in a grove an idol of Priapus: and he entirely destroyed it, and breaking it into pieces, burnt it at the torrent Cedron.

¹⁴ And they arose and destroyed the altars that were in Jerusalem, and took away all things in which incense was burnt to idols and cast them into the torrent Cedron.

⁴⁰ And the whole valley of dead bodies, and of ashes, and all the country of death, even to the torrent Cedron, and to the corner of the horse gate towards the east, the Holy of the Lord: it shall not be plucked up, and it shall not be destroyed any more for ever.

³⁰ And a hymn being said, they went out unto mount Olivet.

³⁶ Then Jesus came with them into a country place which is called Gethsemani. And he said to his disciples: Sit you here, till I go yonder and pray.

²⁶ And when they had sung an hymn, they went forth to the mount of Olives.

³² And they came to a farm called Gethsemani. And he saith to his disciples: Sit you here, while I pray.

³⁹ And going out, he went, according to his custom, to the Mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him. ⁴⁰ And when he was come to the place, he said to them: Pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

³¹ When he therefore was gone out, Jesus said: Now is the Son of man glorified; and God is glorified in him. ³² If God be glorified in him, God also will glorify him in himself: and immediately will he glorify him. ³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You shall seek me. And as I said to the Jews: Whither I go you cannot come; so I say to you now. ³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

¹ Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God: believe also in me. ² In my Father's house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I shall go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself: that where I am, you also may be. ⁴ And whither I go you know: and the way you know. ⁵ Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest. And how can we know the way? ⁶ Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. ⁷ If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him. And you have seen him. ⁸ Philip saith to him: Lord, shew us the Father; and it is enough for us. ⁹ Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you and have you not known me? Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also. How sayest thou: Shew us the Father? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abideth in me, he doth the works. ¹¹ Believe you not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? ¹² Otherwise believe for the very works' sake. Amen, amen, I say to you, he that believeth in me, the works that I do, he also shall do: and greater than these shall he do. ¹³ Because I go to the Father: and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do: that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do. ¹⁵ If you love me, keep my commandments. ¹⁶ And I will ask the Father: and he shall give you another Paraclete, that he may abide with you for ever: ¹⁷ The spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, nor knoweth him. But you shall know him; because he shall abide with you and shall be in you.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father: and as the Father hath given me commandments, so do I. Arise, let us go hence.

²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest (a kinsman to him whose ear Peter cut off) saith to him: Did not I see thee in the garden with him?
