⁶ A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.

¹ Then Moses and the children of Israel sung this canticle to the Lord, and said: Let us sing to the Lord: for he is gloriously magnified, the horse and the rider he hath thrown into the sea.

⁷ The step of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong. ⁸ For he hath thrust his feet into a net, and walketh in its meshes. ⁹ The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare, and thirst shall burn against him. ¹⁰ A gin is hidden for him in the earth, and his trap upon the path.

^{6 (11:7)} He shall rain snares upon sinners: fire and brimstone, and storms of winds, shall be the portion of their cup.

¹¹ Light is risen to the just, and joy to the right of heart.

¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just.

¹⁶ I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.

²² His own iniquities catch the wicked, and he is fast bound with the ropes of his own sins.

⁵ The justice of the upright shall make his way prosperous: and the wicked man shall fall by his own wickedness. ⁶ The justice of the righteous shall deliver them: and the unjust shall be caught in their own snares.

¹³ For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil man: but the just shall escape out of distress.

¹² Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them.

¹⁴ And he shall be a sanctification to you. But for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to the two houses of Israel, for a snare and a ruin to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And very many of them shall stumble and fall, and shall be broken in pieces, and shall be snared, and taken.

² By whom also we have access through faith into this grace wherein we stand: and glory in the hope of the glory of the sons of God. ³ And not only so: but we glory also in tribulation, knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

²⁶ And they may recover themselves from the snares of the devil by whom they are held captive at his will.

² My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations:

⁸ Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now though you see him not, you believe and, believing, shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;

⁴ And these things we write to you, that you may rejoice and your joy may be full.
