But his instrument bearer wills not; for he awes mightily: and Shaul takes a sword and falls on it: ⁵ and his instrument bearer sees Shaul die, and he likewise falls on his sword and dies with him. ⁶ And Shaul dies - and his three sons and his instrument bearer and all his men that same day together. ⁷ And the men of Yisra El beyond the valley and beyond Yarden see the men of Yisra El flee, and Shaul and his sons die, they forsake their cities and flee; and the Peleshethiy come and settle in them. ⁸ And so be it, on the morrow, when the Peleshethiy come to strip the pierced, they find Shaul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa: ⁹ and they cut off his head and strip off his instruments and send them all around into the land of the Peleshethiy - to evangelize it in the house of their idols and among their people. ¹⁰ And they set his instruments in the house of Ashtaroth: and they stake his body to the wall of Beth Shaan. ¹¹ And the settlers of Yabesh Gilad hear what the Peleshethiy work to Shaul; ¹² and all the men of valour rise and go all night and take the body of Shaul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth Shaan and come to Yabesh and burn them there: ¹³ and they take their bones and entomb them under a grove at Yabesh and fast seven days.

And so be it, in those days, the Peleshethiy gather their camps for hostility, to fight Yisra El. And Achish says to David, In knowing, know this: that you go with me into the camp - you and your men.

⁴ And the Peleshethiy gather and come and encamp in Shunem: and Shaul gathers all Yisra El and they encamp in Gilboa:

⁵ neither prostrate yourself to them, nor serve them: for I Yah Veh your Elohim am a jealous El, visiting the perversity of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth of them who hate me;

² Shaul chooses three thousand of Yisra El for himself: whereof two thousand are with Shaul in Michmash and in mount Beth El; and a thousand are with Yah Nathan in Gibah of Ben Yamin: and of the rest of the people he sends each man to his tent.

THE VICTORY OF YAH NATHAN

³ And his father and his mother say to him, Is there not a woman among the daughters of your brothers or among all my people - that you go to take a woman of the uncircumcised Peleshethiy? And Shimshon says to his father, Take her for me; for she is straight in my eyes.

³⁶ your servant smote both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Peleshethiy becomes as one of them, seeing he reproaches the ranks of the living Elohim.

⁹ And he says to me, Stand, I beseech you, over me and slay me: for my embroidered mail possesses me, because my soul is yet whole in me. ¹⁰ - and I stand over him and deathify him, because I know he lives not after he falls: and I take the separatism on his head and the anklet on his arm and bring them here to my adoni.

¹⁴ And David says to him, How is it you awed not to send your hand to ruin the anointed of Yah Veh?

⁷ in that you bring in sons of strangers uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh to be in my holies, to profane it - my house, when you oblate my bread, the fat and the blood, and they break my covenant with all your abhorrences: ⁸ and you guard not the guard of my holies: and you set guards of my guard in my holies for yourselves. ⁹ Thus says Adonay Yah Veh: A son of a stranger, neither uncircumcised in heart nor uncircumcised in flesh, enters into my holies - of any son of a stranger among the sons of Yisra El.

¹⁰ And the Peleshethiy fight and smite Yisra El; and every man flees to his tent: and there is a mighty great stroke; for thirty thousand of Yisra El on foot fall. ¹¹ And they take the ark of Elohim; and deathify Hophni and Pinechas the two sons of Eli.

¹⁵ And all the people go to Gilgal; and have Shaul reign in Gilgal at the face of Yah Veh; and sacrifice sacrifices of shelamim at the face of Yah Veh; and Shaul and all the men of Yisra El cheer mightily.

¹⁷ Is today not the wheat harvest? I call to Yah Veh and he gives voice and rain; so that you perceive and see what great evil you work in the eyes of Yah Veh - in your asking for a sovereign.

¹⁹ Yes, Yah Veh also gives Yisra El with you into the hand of the Peleshethiy: and tomorrow you and your sons are with me: and Yah Veh gives the camp of Yisra El into the hand of the Peleshethiy.

⁶ and Shaul dies and his three sons and all his house die together:

¹ But all this - I gave in my heart to declare all this: that the just and the wise and their service are in the hand of Elohim; no human knows either love or hatred by all that is at their face. ² All in all; one happening: to the just and to the wicked; to the good and to the pure and to the foul; to him who sacrifices and to him who sacrifices not; as the good, thus the sinner; he who oaths, as he who awes an oath.

¹⁰ Where is your sovereign who saves you in all your cities? And your judges of whom you say, Give me a sovereign and governors? ¹¹ I give you a sovereign in my wrath; and take him in my wrath:

³² and I desolate the land and desolate your enemies who settle therein:

³⁶ And on those who survive, I send a timidity into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the voice of a driven leaf pursues them; and they flee as retreating from a sword; and they fall when none pursues:

³³ The fruit of your soil and all your labours, eaten by a people you know not; and you become only oppressed and crushed all days:

² and the hand of Midyan prevails against Yisra El: and at the face of the Midyaniy the sons of Yisra El work themselves caverns in the mountains and caves and huntholds.

⁶ And the men of Yisra El see they are tribulated - that the people are exacted - and the people hide themselves in caves and in crevices and in rocks and in towers and in wells:

⁸ And so be it, on the morrow, the Peleshethiy come to strip the pierced, and they find Shaul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa:

Then the ringleaders of the Peleshethiy gather together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their elohim and to cheer: for they say, Our elohim gives Shimshon our enemy into our hand. ²⁴ And when the people see him, they halal their elohim: for they say, Into our hands our elohim delivers our enemy and the parcher of our land, who abounded our pierced.

⁵¹ and David runs and stands on the Peleshethiy and takes his sword and draws it from its sheath and deathifies him and cuts off his head therewith. And the Peleshethiy see their mighty died and they flee:

⁵⁴ and David takes the head of the Peleshethiy and brings it to Yeru Shalem; and he sets his instruments in his tent.

⁴ And Shaul says to his instrument bearer, Draw your sword and stab me; lest these uncircumcised come and stab me and exploit me. But his instrument bearer wills not; for he awes mightily: and Shaul takes a sword and falls on it:

⁹ And the priest says, The sword of Golyath the Peleshethiy, whom you smote in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here veiled in a cloth behind the ephod: if in taking, take: for there is no other here except this. And David says, There is none like that; give me.

And Nachash the Ammoniy ascends and encamps against Yabesh Gilad: and all the men of Yabesh say to Nachash, Cut a covenant with us, and we serve you. ² And Nachash the Ammoniy says to them, By this I cut with you, that I bore out all your right eyes and lay it for a reproach on all Yisra El. ³ And the elders of Yabesh say to him, Slacken seven days; and we send angels to all the borders of Yisra El: and if there is no man to save us, we come to you. ⁴ And the angels come to Gibah of Shaul and word the words in the ears of the people: and all the people lift their voices and weep. ⁵ And behold, Shaul comes after the oxen from the field; and Shaul says, The people - why weep they? ¹⁰ and his uncle and his cremater lift him to bring the bones from the house, and say to him who is by the flanks of the house, Are there yet any with you? And he says, Final. Then he says, Hush: for we memorialize not the name of Yah Veh.

⁸ And Deborah the suckler of Ribqah dies and they entomb her beneath Beth El under an oak: and they call the name thereof Allon Bachuth.

¹⁰ And they come to the Threshingfloor of Thorns beyond Yarden; and there they chop with a great and mighty heavy chopping: and he works a mourning for his father seven days.

And Shaul hears that David and the men with him have been seen; - and Shaul settles in Gibah under a grove in Ramah with his spear in his hand and all his servants station around him.
