¹³ I will be his father, and he shall be my son; and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee;

²⁸ And Samuel said unto him, The LORD has rent the kingdom of Israel from thee today and has given it to a neighbour of thine that is better than thou.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men; ¹⁵ but my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I took away from before thee. ¹⁶ And thy house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee; thy throne shall be established for ever.

¹² But I will not do it in thy days for David, thy father’s sake, but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. ¹³ However, I will not rend away all the kingdom, but will give one tribe to thy son for David, my slave’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.

³⁶ And unto his son I will give one tribe, that David my slave may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name in her.

¹⁴ and not enquire of the LORD; therefore, he slew him and turned the kingdom unto David, the son of Jesse.

¹² He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne eternally.

⁷ ¶ I will declare the decree; the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day I have begotten thee.

¹² Kiss the Son lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way when his wrath is kindled in a little while. Blessed are all those that put their trust in him.

²⁶ He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health. ²⁷ Also I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens. ³⁰ If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments, ³¹ if they profane my statutes and do not keep my commandments, ³² then I will visit their rebellion with the rod and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ Nevertheless I will not take my mercy from him, neither will I falsify my truth. ³⁴ I will not profane my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. ³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. ³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. ³ Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an eternal covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³² He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David;

³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.

⁵ For unto which of the angels did he say at any time, Thou art my Son, this day I have begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
