²⁸ But let each man prove himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

¹⁰ Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your generations should be unclean by reason of a dead body or be on a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD. ¹¹ The fourteenth day of the second month, between the two evenings they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. ¹² They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it; according to all the ordinance of the passover they shall keep it. ¹³ But the man that is clean and is not on a journey and forbears to keep the passover, that same soul shall be cut off from among his people; because he did not bring the offering of the LORD in his appointed season; that man shall bear his sin.

² Examine me, O LORD and prove me; melt my kidneys and my heart. ³ For thy mercy is before my eyes, and I walk in thy truth. ⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evil doers and will not sit with the wicked. ⁶ ¶ I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD: ⁷ That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of all thy wondrous works.

⁴⁰ Nun Let us search out our ways, and seek, and turn again to the LORD.

⁵ Speak unto all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me? ⁶ And when ye ate, and when ye drank, did ye not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? ⁷ Are these not the words which the LORD has published by the former prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and quiet and the cities thereof round about her and when the south and the plain were inhabited?

²³ Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother has something against thee; ²⁴ leave thy gift there before the altar, and go; first restore friendship with thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

³¹ For if we would examine ourselves, we should not be judged.

⁵ Examine yourselves whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves. Do ye not know your own selves if Jesus Christ is in you? Unless ye are reprobates.

⁴ But let everyone prove his own work, and then he shall have glory regarding only himself, and not in another.

²⁰ ¶ And if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence in God;
