¹ ¶ Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, listening to spirits of error and doctrines of demons; ² that in hypocrisy shall speak lies; having their conscience seared as with a hot iron; ³ they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth. ⁴ For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving, ⁵ for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. ⁶ ¶ If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained. ⁷ But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. ⁸ For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. ⁹ The Word is faithful and worthy of acceptation by all. ¹⁰ For this we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. ¹¹ Command and teach this. ¹² Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the faithful in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. ¹³ Until I come, occupy thyself reading, exhorting, teaching. ¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which is given unto thee to prophesy, through the laying on of the hands of the elders. ¹⁵ Occupy thyself in these things with care, for in this is everything, that thy profiting may be manifest unto all. ¹⁶ Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine; be diligent in this, for in doing so thou shalt both save thyself and those that hear thee.

³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, Ye shall not eat of it; neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. ⁴ Then the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: ⁵ For God knows that in the day ye eat of it then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

¹³ Then the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.

¹⁴ Therefore, behold, I go now unto my people; come and I will indicate unto thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

³⁰ When thou art in trouble and all these things are come upon thee, if in the latter days thou shalt turn to the LORD thy God and shalt hear his voice

²⁹ O that they were wise, if they were prudent, they would understand their latter end!

²² And the LORD said unto him, In what manner? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also; go forth and do so. ²³ Now, therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD has decreed evil concerning thee.

¹⁹ And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab, king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner. ²⁰ Then a spirit came out and stood before the LORD and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, In what manner? ²¹ And he said, I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail; go out and do even so. ²² Now, therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD has decreed evil concerning thee.

² And it shall come to pass in the last of the days or times, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be confirmed as the head of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; and all the Gentiles shall flow unto it.

⁴⁷ Yet I will turn again the captivity of Moab in the last of the times, said the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.

³⁹ But it shall come to pass in the last of the days that I will turn again the captivity of Elam, said the LORD.

³ the word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and there the hand of the LORD came upon him.

¹⁶ and thou shalt come up against my people of Israel as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be at the end of the days, and I will bring thee upon my land, that the Gentiles may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

¹⁴ Now I am come to make thee know what shall befall thy people in the latter days, for there shall still be vision for several days.

³⁵ And some of the wise shall fall to be purged and cleaned and made white, even to the time of the end because even for this there is time appointed. ³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will, and he shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god and shall speak marvels against the God of gods and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished, for the determination has been made. ³⁷ Neither shall he care for the God of his fathers, nor the love of women, nor care for any god, for he shall magnify himself above all. ³⁸ But in his place shall he honour the god of fortresses, {Ala Mahozim}, a god whom his fathers did not know; he shall honour it with gold and silver and precious stones and with things of great price.

⁵ afterward the sons of Israel shall return, and they shall seek the LORD their God and David their king; and they shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the end of the days.

¹ ¶ But it shall come to pass in the last of the times that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the top of the mountains and higher than all the hills, and peoples shall flow unto it.

⁵ For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many. ⁶ And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for it is necessary that all these things must take place; but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places. ⁸ All these are the beginning of sorrows. ⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. ¹⁰ And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another. ¹¹ And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. ¹² And because lawlessness shall abound, the charity of many shall wax cold.

¹³ Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will cause you to know the things which are to come.

² As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work unto which I have called them.

¹⁸ Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans and of the Stoics encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? others, He seems to be a setter forth of new gods, because he preached unto them Jesus and the resurrection.

²⁵ And when they did not agree among themselves, they departed, after Paul had spoken this word, Well spoke the Holy Spirit by Isaiah the prophet unto our fathers,

⁵ For though there are some that are called gods, whether in heaven or in the earth (as there are many gods and many lords), ⁶ but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

²⁰ But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I would not that ye should be participants of demons.

¹¹ one and the same Spirit operates all these things, dispersing to each one his own gift as he wills.

³ But I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve through his craftiness, so your senses should be corrupted in some way, and ye should fall from the simplicity that is in the Christ.

¹³ For these false apostles are deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And it is no marvel, for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

¹⁸ Let no one govern you according to their own will under pretext of humility and religion of angels, intruding into those things which they have not seen, vainly puffed up by their fleshly mind,

³ ¶ Let no one deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come except there come a falling away first and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, ⁴ opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God, or divinity, so that he as God sits in the temple of God, making himself appear to be God. ⁵ Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? ⁶ And ye know what impedes this now, that he might be revealed in his time. ⁷ For the mystery of iniquity is already working, except that he who dominates now will dominate until he is taken out of the way. ⁸ And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the Spirit of his mouth and remove with the clarity of his coming: ⁹ that wicked one, who shall come by the working of Satan with great power and signs and lying miracles, ¹⁰ and with all deception of iniquity working in those that perish because they did not receive the charity of the truth, to be saved. ¹¹ Therefore, for this cause, God shall send the operation of error in them, that they should believe the lie; ¹² that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but consented to the iniquity.

¹ ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. ² For there shall be men who are lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, evil speakers, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, impure, ³ without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without temperance, without meekness, without goodness, ⁴ traitors, rash, puffed up, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, ⁵ having the appearance of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. ⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with various lusts, ⁷ ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ And in the manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth, men of corrupt understanding, reprobate concerning the faith. ⁹ But they shall not prevail, for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as that of those also was.

¹³ But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

⁴ and thus they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall return unto fables.

²⁰ already ordained from before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for love of you,

¹ ¶ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who covertly shall bring in destructive sects and shall deny the Lord that bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

³ ¶ knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts

¹⁸ ¶ Little children, it is the last hour, and as ye have heard that the antichrist comes, likewise there are also beginning to be many antichrists, by which we know that it is the last time.

⁶ We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

⁴ For there are certain men crept in unawares without fear or reverence of God, who from beforehand have been ordained unto this condemnation, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness and denying God who alone has dominion, and our Lord Jesus, the Christ.

¹⁸ how that they told you, That in the last time there would be mockers, who would walk after their own ungodly desires.

⁷ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

¹¹ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; He that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

¹⁷ He that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}; To him that overcomes I will give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a small white stone and in the stone a new name written, which no one knows except the one that receives it.

² And he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose smoke out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. ³ And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. ⁴ And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth neither any green thing neither any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads. ⁵ And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should torment them five months; and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he strikes a man. ⁶ And in those days men shall seek death and shall not find it and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. ⁷ And the appearance of the locusts was like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. ⁸ And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. ⁹ And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. ¹⁰ And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months. ¹¹ And they had a king over them, who is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon meaning destroyer.

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons and the images of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which neither can see nor hear nor walk.

¹⁴ and deceives those that dwell on the earth by those signs which were given unto him to do in the presence of the beast, commanding those that dwell on the earth to make an image of the beast, which has the wound by the sword, and did live.

¹⁴ For they are spirits of demons, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

² And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of demons, and the hold of every unclean spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

²³ and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the princes of the earth in whose witchcraft all the Gentiles have erred.

²⁰ And the beast was taken and with it the false prophet that wrought miracles in its presence, with which he had deceived those that had taken the mark of the beast and had worshipped its image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

² And he laid hold on the dragon, the serpent of old, which is the Devil and Satan and bound him a thousand years ³ and cast him into the bottomless pit and shut him up and set a seal upon it, that he should deceive the Gentiles no more, until the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after it is necessary that he be loosed a little while.

⁸ and shall go out to deceive the Gentiles which are upon the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

¹⁰ And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

¹⁸ And the other said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art, and an angel spoke unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thy house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

²² And the LORD said unto him, In what manner? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also; go forth and do so.

¹⁵ The ancient and venerable to look upon is the head; the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail.

²¹ Hear now this, O foolish people and without heart, who have eyes and do not see; who have ears, and do not hear:

¹⁴ I have also seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: they committed adultery and walked by lies; they strengthened also the hands of evildoers, that no none is converted from his malice; they are all of them unto me as Sodom and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

³² Behold, I am against those that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and did tell them, and caused my people to err by their lies, and by their flattery; yet I did not send them, nor command them; and they did not profit this people at all, said the LORD.

²³ And at the end of their empire, when the prevaricators are come to the full, a king of arrogant countenance and expert in enigmas shall raise himself up. ²⁴ And his power shall be strengthened, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy marvellously and shall prosper and do according to his will and shall destroy the mighty and the people of the saints. ²⁵ And with his understanding he shall cause the deceit in his hand to prosper, and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace he shall destroy many; he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes, and without hand he shall be broken.

¹⁵ ¶ Keep yourselves also from the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect.

³⁰ Also from among your own selves, men shall arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after themselves.

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a perverse understanding, to do those things which are not convenient,

¹⁸ For they that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly and by smooth words and blessings deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹⁴ That we no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive,

¹⁹ who, after losing all sense of feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness to work all uncleanness with greediness.

⁵ having the appearance of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

²⁹ ¶ And God said, Behold, I have given you every grass bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food. ³⁰ And to every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air and to every thing that moves upon the earth, in which there is a living soul, I have given all green grass for food; and it was so.

³ Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; even as the green grass I have given you all things.

¹³ As soon as you are come into the city, ye shall straightway find him before he goes up to the high place to eat, for the people will not eat until he comes because he must bless the sacrifice, and afterwards those that are invited eat. Now therefore go up, for about this time ye shall find him.

¹⁸ ¶ Behold therefore the good which I have seen: that good is to eat and to drink and to enjoy of the good of all his labour that he takes under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him; for it is his portion.

³⁷ Neither shall he care for the God of his fathers, nor the love of women, nor care for any god, for he shall magnify himself above all.

¹⁹ And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass and took the five loaves and the two fishes; and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

³⁶ And he took the seven loaves and the fishes and gave thanks and broke them and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

³⁰ And it came to pass as he sat at the table with them, he took bread and blessed it and broke and gave to them.

²³ (but other boats came from Tiberias near unto the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks);

³¹ ¶ Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye shall be my disciples indeed; ³² and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

¹³ And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter, kill and eat. ¹⁴ But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. ¹⁵ And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, That which God has cleansed, do not call common.

³⁵ And when he had thus spoken, he took bread and gave thanks to God in presence of them all; and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

³ Let not him that eats despise him that does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him that eats; for God has raised him up.

⁶ He that observes the day, let him observe it unto the Lord; and he that does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He that eats, eats unto the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that does not eat, unto the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.

¹⁷ for the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

¹³ Foods are for the belly, and the belly for foods; but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

²⁸ But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have affliction in the flesh, but I forbear you.

³⁶ ¶ But if anyone thinks it uncomely regarding his daughter, if she passes the bloom of life, and need so requires, let him do what he will, he does not sin: let them marry. ³⁷ Nevertheless, he that stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has liberty regarding his own, and has so determined in his heart that he will keep his daughter, does well. ³⁸ So then he that gives her in marriage does well, but he that does not give her in marriage does better. ³⁹ ¶ The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free and may be married to whom she will, if it is in the Lord.

⁸ But food does not make us more acceptable unto God; for neither if we eat are we the better, neither if we eat not are we the worse.

³⁰ For if I by grace am a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? ³¹ Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatever ye do, do everything for the glory of God.

¹⁶ ¶ Let no one therefore judge you in food or in drink or in respect of a feast day or of the new moon or of the sabbath days,

²⁰ For if ye are dead with the Christ to the elements of the world, why, as though living unto the world, do ye decree rites, ²¹ touch not; taste not; handle not? ²² Which all perish with the using, because they are the commandments and doctrines of men, ²³ which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship and humility and neglecting of the body, but they have absolutely no value against the appetites of the flesh.

¹⁷ And whatever ye do whether in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God and Father by him.

¹³ ¶ But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to saving health through the sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth, ¹⁴ unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.

⁴ For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving,

⁴ Let marriage be honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

⁹ Be not taken out of the way with diverse and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace, not with foods which have not profited those that have been occupied with them.

³¹ ¶ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

⁴ The strong One, whose work is perfect: for all his ways are right; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and upright is he.

⁷ And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter, slay and eat. ⁸ But I said, Not so, Lord, for nothing common or unclean has at any time entered into my mouth. ⁹ But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God has cleansed, do not call common.

²⁰ but that we write unto them that they abstain from pollutions of idols and from fornication and from things strangled and from blood. ²¹ For Moses of old time has in every city those that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

²⁹ that ye abstain from foods offered to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

²⁵ As touching the Gentiles who believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, except only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols and from blood and from that which has been strangled and from fornication.

¹⁴ I know and trust in the Lord Jesus that for his sake there is nothing unclean, but to him that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

²⁰ Because of food, do not destroy the work of God. All things indeed are clean, but it is evil for that man who eats with offense.

²³ ¶ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify.

²⁵ Whatever is sold in the market, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake;

³ they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth.

²⁵ And God made the beast of the earth after its kind and cattle after their kind and every thing that moves upon the earth after its kind; and God saw that it was good.

⁴ And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

⁴¹ But rather give alms {lit. do acts of mercy} of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

¹⁴ For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.

¹⁵ For unto the pure all things are pure, but unto those that are defiled and unfaithful, nothing is pure, but even their soul and conscience is defiled.

⁷ ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

² For I give you good doctrine; do not forsake my law.

¹⁶ Thy words were found, and I ate them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for thy name was called upon me, O LORD God of the hosts.

⁵² And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed in the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a man, a husband of a house, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

¹⁶ Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. ¹⁷ If anyone desires to do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God or whether I speak of myself.

³¹ Therefore watch and remember that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

³⁵ I have showed you in all things how that so labouring, ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

¹⁵ Nevertheless I have written, brethren, in part boldly, as admonishing you by the grace that is given to me of God,

¹ ¶ Let us reckon men as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Moreover, it is required in stewards that each one be found faithful.

¹⁷ ¶ For this cause I have sent Timothy unto you, who is my beloved son and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}.

⁶ ¶ who also has made us able ministers of the new testament, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

⁴ But in all things showing ourselves as the ministers of God in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses,

¹⁵ but following the truth in charity, let us grow up into him in all things, who is the head, the Christ: ¹⁶ From whom the whole body fitly joined together and well tied together among itself by the nourishment that every connecting bond supplies, by the operation of each member according to measure they have received, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in charity.

²¹ But that ye also may know my affairs and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, shall make known to you all things,

¹⁶ Nevertheless, in that unto which we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us have the same mind.

¹⁹ and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, fed and united by its joints and bonds, grows in the increase of God.

¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell in you in abundance in all wisdom, teaching you and exhorting you one to another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with grace singing in your hearts unto the Lord.

⁷ ¶ All my affairs shall Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother and a faithful servant and fellow slave in the Lord,

² and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of the Christ, to confirm you and to exhort you in your faith,

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,

¹⁶ Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine; be diligent in this, for in doing so thou shalt both save thyself and those that hear thee.

³ If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,

⁶ ¶ Therefore I admonish thee that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

¹⁴ ¶ Counsel these things, charging them before the Lord. Strive not in words that profit nothing, but rather subvert the hearers. ¹⁵ Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth.

¹⁰ ¶ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and in that which has been entrusted unto thee, knowing of whom thou hast learned them, ¹⁵ and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, they shall heap up unto themselves teachers who shall speak to them according to their own lusts,

¹ ¶ But speak thou the things which are expedient unto sound doctrine,

⁷ in all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity, ⁸ sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that the adversary may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. ⁹ Exhort slaves to be subject to their own masters and to please them well in all things; not contradicting; ¹⁰ not defrauding, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

² as newborn babes, desire the rational milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby in health;

¹² ¶ For this reason, I will not leave off reminding you always of these things, although ye know them and are established in the present truth. ¹³ Because I have the right (as long as I am in this tabernacle) to stir you up by reminding you, ¹⁴ knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has declared unto me. ¹⁵ I will also make sure with diligence that after my decease ye might remember these things.

¹ ¶ Beloved, I now write unto you this second epistle, in which I alert with exhortation your pure understanding, ² that ye keep in memory the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and of our commandment, that we are apostles of the Lord and Saviour,

⁹ Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

⁵ I will, therefore, remind you, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those that did not believe.

¹⁶ And for this reason do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men.

⁴ nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which generate questions other than that the edification of God is by faith.

¹⁰ but with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

¹¹ But thou, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, charity, tolerance, meekness.

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, turn away from profane voices and vain things and arguments in the vain name of science,

¹⁶ But avoid profane and vain wordiness, for it will develop into ungodliness.

²³ But foolish and unwise questions refuse, knowing that they do beget contentions.

¹² And all that desire to live godly in Christ Jesus shall also suffer persecution.

¹⁴ not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

¹² teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live temperately, righteously, and godly in this present world;

⁹ ¶ But avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and debates concerning the law, for they are unprofitable and vain.

¹⁴ But strong food belongs to those that are perfect, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

⁵ ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; ⁷ and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. ⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ ¶ And it shall come to pass if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God to keep and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all the Gentiles of the earth; ² and all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee when thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. ³ Blessed shalt thou be in the city and blessed shalt thou be in the field. ⁴ Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy ground and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cows, and the flocks of thy sheep. ⁵ Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. ⁶ Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. ⁷ The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face; they shall come out against thee one way and flee before thee seven ways. ⁸ The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. ⁹ The LORD shall confirm thee as his holy people, as he has sworn unto thee, when thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God and walk in his ways. ¹⁰ And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of thee. ¹¹ And the LORD shall cause thee to have good in abundance in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy beasts and in the fruit of thy ground, upon the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers to give thee. ¹² The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven, to give the rain unto thy land in its season and to bless all the work of thine hand. And thou shalt lend unto many Gentiles, and thou shalt not borrow. ¹³ And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail, and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath, when thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to keep them and to fulfill them. ¹⁴ And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

²² And Samuel said, Does the LORD have as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in hearing the voice of the LORD? Behold, to hear is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams.

¹⁹ He shall deliver thee in six tribulations, and in the seventh no evil shall touch thee. ²⁰ In famine he shall ransom thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword. ²¹ Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it comes. ²² At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth; ²³ for thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. ²⁴ And thou shalt know that there is peace in thy tent, and thou shalt visit thy habitation and shalt not sin. ²⁵ Thou shalt know that thy seed is great and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. ²⁶ Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like a shock of wheat that is gathered in its season.

² Can a man be profitable unto God? For he that is wise is profitable unto himself.

³ Beth Wait in the LORD and do good; live in the land and uphold the truth. ⁴ In the same manner delight thyself in the LORD, and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.

⁹ For evildoers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the earth and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

¹⁶ Tet A little that a righteous man has is better than the many riches of the sinners. ¹⁷ For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. ¹⁸ Jod The LORD knows the days of the perfect, and their inheritance shall be for ever. ¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

²⁹ Ain The righteous shall inherit the earth and live upon it for ever.

⁷ ¶ Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee; I am God, even thy God. ⁸ I will not reprove thee regarding thy sacrifices; thy burnt offerings are continually before me. ⁹ I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds. ¹⁰ For every beast of the forest is mine and the cattle upon a thousand hills. ¹¹ I know all the fowls of the mountains; and the wild beasts of the field are with me. ¹² If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is mine and the fullness thereof. ¹³ Must I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? ¹⁴ Sacrifice praise unto God and pay thy vows unto the most High ¹⁵ and call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly.

¹⁰ no evil shall befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling. ¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. ¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thy foot stumble against a stone. ¹³ Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. ¹⁴ Because he has set his will upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known my name. ¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and glorify him. ¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him and show him my saving health.

¹ ¶ Aleph Halelu-JAH. Blessed is the man that fears the LORD, Beth that delights greatly in his commandments. ² Gimel His seed shall be mighty upon earth; Daleth the generation of the upright shall be blessed. ³ He Wealth and riches shall be in his house; Vau and his righteousness endures for ever.

¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Blessed is every one that fears the LORD, that walks in his ways. ² When thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands; happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. ³ Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thy house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table. ⁴ Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears the LORD. ⁵ The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion, and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. ⁶ Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children and peace upon Israel.

¹⁹ Resh He will fulfil the desire of those that fear him; he also will hear their cry and will save them.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

²³ ¶ The fear of the LORD is unto life, and he that has it shall live satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

⁴ ¶ Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD.

¹² Though a sinner does evil one hundred times and his judgment is prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those that fear God, who fear before his presence;

¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? shall the LORD say. I am full of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts; and I do not delight in the blood of bullocks or of lambs or of he goats. ¹² When ye come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to tread my courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; the incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot stand them; iniquity and the solemn meeting. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; likewise, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood. ¹⁶ ¶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil;

¹⁰ Say unto the righteous that it shall be well with him, for they shall eat of the fruit of their doings.

¹⁷ And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness rest and security for ever. ¹⁸ And my people shall dwell in a habitation of peace and in secure dwellings and in the refreshing of rest.

¹⁶ he shall dwell upon the high places: fortresses of rocks shall be his place of refuge: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

³ ¶ Why have we fasted, they say, and thou dost not see? why have we afflicted our soul, and thou dost take no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find your own pleasure and exact your own estates. ⁴ Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day to make your voice to be heard on high. ⁵ Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast and an acceptable day to the LORD?

¹³ Therefore thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, my slaves shall eat, but ye shall be hungry; behold, my slaves shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty; behold, my slaves shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: ¹⁴ Behold, my slaves shall rejoice by the joy of their heart, but ye shall cry for the sorrow of your heart and shall howl for the destruction of spirit.

²⁰ To what purpose does this incense come to me from Sheba and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not according to my will, nor are your sacrifices sweet unto me.

²¹ ¶ I hate, I despise your solemnities, and I will not savour your assemblies. ²² Though ye offer me your burnt offerings and your presents, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. ²³ Take away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy instruments. ²⁴ But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

³ ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ⁴ Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. ⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. ¹² Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

²⁹ And every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life.

¹⁹ Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. ²⁰ And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these I have observed from my youth.

³⁰ who shall not receive one hundredfold now in this time: houses and brethren and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come eternal life.

³¹ But rather seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. ³² Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²⁸ And we now know that unto those who love God, all things help them unto good, to those who according to the purpose are called to be saints.

²² whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come, all are yours;

⁶ ¶ But piety with contentment is great gain.

⁸ The Word is faithful, and I desire that thou affirm this constantly, that those who have believed God might be careful to conduct themselves in good works. This is good and profitable unto men.

⁹ Which was a figure of that time present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience, ¹⁰ but in foods and drinks and different washings and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of correction.

³ as all things that pertain to life and to godliness are given us of his divine power, through the knowledge of him that has called us by his glory and virtue, ⁴ whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these ye might be made participants of the divine nature, having fled the corruption that is in the world through lust.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he has promised us, even eternal life.

¹² He that overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more, and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God which is the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from and with my God, and I will write upon him my new name.

²¹ To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame and have sat down with my Father in his throne.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first.

⁶ Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; thy judgments are a great deep; O LORD, thou dost preserve man and beast.

⁴⁰ And the LORD helped them and delivers them; he shall deliver them from the wicked and save them because they wait in him.

⁸ But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the eternal mercy of God for ever.

¹² O LORD of the hosts, happy is the man that trusts in thee.

² Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

⁶ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. ⁷ And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. ⁸ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ⁹ For he satisfies the soul that is destitute and fills the hungry soul with goodness. ¹⁰ ¶ Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and in irons, ¹¹ because they rebelled against the words of God and condemned the counsel of the most High: ¹² Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was no one to help. ¹³ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their bonds asunder. ¹⁵ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ¹⁶ For he has broken the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron asunder. ¹⁷ ¶ The fools, because of the way of their rebellion, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. ¹⁸ Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near unto the gates of death. ¹⁹ Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ²⁰ He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their graves. ²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ²² And let them offer the sacrifices of praise and publish his works with singing. ²³ ¶ Those that go down to the sea in ships that do work in many waters, ²⁴ these have seen the works of the LORD and his wonders in the deep. ²⁵ For he commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves. ²⁶ They mount up to the heavens; they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble. ²⁷ They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man, and all of their knowledge is of no avail. ²⁸ Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivers them out of their afflictions. ²⁹ He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. ³⁰ Then they are glad because they are at rest; so he brings them into the haven of his will. ³¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ³² Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people and praise him in the assembly of the elders. ³³ ¶ He turned rivers into a wilderness and the watersprings into dry ground; ³⁴ the fruitful land into salt flats, because of the wickedness of those that dwell therein. ³⁵ He turns the wilderness into reservoirs of water and dry ground into watersprings. ³⁶ And there he makes the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation ³⁷ and sow the fields and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase. ³⁸ He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly and suffers not their cattle to decrease. ³⁹ Again, they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow. ⁴⁰ He pours contempt upon princes and causes them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. ⁴¹ Yet he sets the poor on high from affliction and makes his families like a flock. ⁴² The righteous shall see it and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth. ⁴³ Who is wise and will observe these things and shall understand the mercies of the LORD?

⁸ It is better to wait upon the LORD than to wait upon man.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together; who caused this to be heard from the beginning and has declared it from that time, except me, the LORD? and there is no God beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is no one besides me. ²² Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no one else.

¹⁰ ¶ Who is among you that fears the LORD? Hearken unto the voice of his slave. He who walked in darkness and had no light; let him trust in the name of the LORD and stay upon his God.

⁷ Blessed is the man that is steadfast in the LORD and whose trust is the LORD.

²⁸ ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke and said, Blessed be the God of these, of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and delivered his servants that trusted in him and have changed the king’s word and yielded their bodies that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God

⁷ The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows those that trust in him.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him, for he said, I am the Son of God.

²⁹ ¶ The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

¹⁵ that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

⁴² and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speech; for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word and believes him that sent me has eternal life and shall not come into judgment but has passed from death unto life.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall wait for salvation. ¹³ ¶ And believing, the God of hope fills you with all joy and peace that ye may abound in hope by the virtue of the Holy Spirit.

⁹ For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death; for we are made a spectacle unto the world and to angels and to men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. ¹¹ Even unto this present hour we both hunger and thirst and are ill clad and are buffeted and have no certain dwellingplace ¹² and labour, working with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; ¹³ being blasphemed, we intreat; we are made as the filth of this world and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

⁸ ¶ We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are unsure of our lives, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; ¹⁰ always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

³ Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry not be blamed, ⁴ But in all things showing ourselves as the ministers of God in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses, ⁵ in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings, ⁶ in chastity, in knowledge, in meekness, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in unfeigned charity, ⁷ in the word of truth, in the power of God through the weapons of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, ⁸ through honour and dishonour, through evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet as men of the truth; ⁹ as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, but, behold, we live; as chastened, but not killed; ¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more, in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths often. ²⁴ Of the Jews five times I received forty stripes less one. ²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned; three times I suffered shipwreck, night and day I have been in the deep; ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by those of my nation, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ in labour and travail, in many watches, in hunger and thirst, in many fasts, in cold and nakedness.

⁶ who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, that thou may know how it is expedient to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;

⁹ in which I suffer trouble, like unto an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound. ¹⁰ Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the saving health which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹⁰ ¶ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, ¹¹ persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra, persecutions I have endured, and the Lord delivered me out of them all. ¹² And all that desire to live godly in Christ Jesus shall also suffer persecution.

²⁶ esteeming the reproach of the Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt, for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

¹³ Let us go forth, therefore, unto him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.

²¹ who by him do believe God, who raised him up from the dead and has given him glory: that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ So let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as desirous of the things of others.

² and he is the reconciliation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

¹⁴ ¶ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

¹⁰ ¶ He that believes in the Son of God has the witness of God in himself; he that does not believe God has made God a liar; because he does not believe the witness that God has testified of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the witness, that God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life. ¹³ These things I have written unto you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life and that ye may believe in the name of the Son of God.

⁷ Therefore command these things, that they may be blameless.

² And those that have faithful masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren, but rather serve them better, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. Teach and exhort this.

² Preach the word; be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

¹⁵ ¶ These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.

¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in the heavens their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens.

¹ ¶ Be ye imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.

¹⁰ ¶ Now if Timothy comes, see that he may stay with you securely, for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do. ¹¹ Let no man therefore, despise, him, but conduct him forth in peace that he may come unto me, for I look for him with the brothers.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, exercise yourselves in these things.

⁶ ¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit:

¹⁰ Ye are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and just and irreprehensible our behaviour was among you that believe,

⁷ For you know in what manner you ought to imitate us, for we did not walk disorderly among you, ⁸ neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought, but working with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, ⁹ Not because we did not have authority, but to give you an example that you might imitate us.

¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

⁷ Understand what I say, that the Lord shall give thee understanding in all things.

¹⁵ Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth.

²² ¶ Flee also youthful lusts, but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with those that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁷ in all things showing thyself as an example of good works, in doctrine showing integrity, seriousness, purity,

¹³ ¶ Who is wise and ready among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works in meekness of wisdom.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, modest, benevolent, full of mercy and of good fruits, not judgmental, unfeigned.

³ and not as having lordship over the heritage of the Lord, but in such a manner as to be examples of the flock.

¹⁹ and it shall be near unto him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them,

⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou may keep and do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way to prosper, and then thou shalt understand everything.

² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

⁹⁷ ¶ MEM. O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the day. ⁹⁸ ¶ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are eternal unto me. ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies have been my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the elders because I keep thy precepts. ¹⁰¹ ¶ I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. ¹⁰² ¶ I have not departed from thy judgments, for thou hast taught me. ¹⁰³ ¶ How sweet have been thy spoken words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! ¹⁰⁴ Through thy precepts I have obtained understanding; therefore I have hated every false way.

⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures, ⁵ then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

⁵¹ Jesus said unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They answered unto him, Yes, Lord. ⁵² And he said unto them, Therefore every scribe who is instructed in the kingdom of the heavens is like unto a man, a husband of a house, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old.

³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are those who testify of me.

⁴ And we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all diligence and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

⁸ he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, let him do it in simplicity; he that presides, in earnest care; he that shows mercy, in cheerfulness.

³ But he that prophesies speaks unto men for edification and exhortation and comfort.

⁶ ¶ Now, brothers, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either with revelation or with knowledge or with prophecy or with doctrine?

²⁶ ¶ How is it then, brothers? when ye come together, each one of you has a psalm, has doctrine, has tongues, has revelation, has interpretation. Let all things be done unto edification.

⁶ ¶ If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained.

¹⁵ Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that has nothing to be ashamed of, rightly dividing the word of truth. ¹⁶ But avoid profane and vain wordiness, for it will develop into ungodliness. ¹⁷ And that word will eat away as gangrene, of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

¹⁴ ¶ For it is like a man travelling into a far country, who called his own slaves and delivered unto them his goods. ¹⁵ And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each one according to his faculty, and straightway took his journey. ¹⁶ And after he was gone, he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same and made another five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he that had received two, he also gained another two. ¹⁸ But he that had received one went and dug in the earth and hid his lord’s money. ¹⁹ And after a long time the lord of those slaves came and reckoned accounts with them. ²⁰ And so he that had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me five talents; behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. ²¹ His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²² He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou didst deliver unto me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. ²³ His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful slave; thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. ²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown and gathering where thou hast not scattered; ²⁵ therefore, I was afraid and went and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast what is thine. ²⁶ His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful slave, thou knewest that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I have not scattered; ²⁷ therefore, it was expedient for thee to have put my money to the bankers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with interest. ²⁸ Take, therefore, the talent from him and give it unto him who has ten talents. ²⁹ For unto every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance, but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has. ³⁰ And cast ye the unprofitable slave into the outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹² He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. ¹³ And having called ten of his slaves, he delivered them ten minas and said unto them, Trade until I come. ¹⁴ But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us. ¹⁵ And it came to pass that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these slaves to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much each one had gained by trading. ¹⁶ Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy mina has gained ten minas. ¹⁷ And he said unto him, Well done, thou good slave; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, thou shalt have authority over ten cities. ¹⁸ And the second came, saying, Lord, thy mina has made five minas. ¹⁹ And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. ²⁰ And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy mina, which I have kept laid up in a napkin, ²¹ for I feared thee because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that which thou didst not lay down and dost reap that which thou didst not sow. ²² Then he said unto him, Out of thine own mouth I will judge thee, thou wicked slave. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that which I did not lay down, and reaping that which I did not sow; ²³ why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required my own with interest? ²⁴ And he said unto those that stood by, Take from him the mina and give it to him that has the ten minas. ²⁵ (And they said unto him, Lord, he has ten minas.) ²⁶ For I say unto you, That unto every one who has shall be given; and from him that has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him.

⁶ these they set before the apostles, and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

¹⁷ Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

³ And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they released them.

⁶ And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

⁶ So that having different gifts according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, according to the measure of faith; ⁷ or ministry, in serving; or he that teaches, in doctrine; ⁸ he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, let him do it in simplicity; he that presides, in earnest care; he that shows mercy, in cheerfulness.

¹⁹ Quench not the Spirit.

¹⁸ ¶ This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, so that according to past prophecies regarding thee, that thou by them might war a good warfare;

²² Lay hands suddenly on no one, neither be partaker of the sins of others; keep thyself pure.

⁹ Lovingly be hospitable one to another without murmuring. ¹⁰ Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God. ¹¹ If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God; if anyone ministers, let them do it according to the virtue which God gives, that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus, the Christ, unto whom is glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

³ My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart intelligence.

⁶ When I remember thee upon my bed and meditate on thee in the night watches.

¹² I meditated also on all thy works and spoke of thy doings.

³⁴ My meditation of him shall be sweet; I will be glad in the LORD.

⁵ Remember his marvellous works that he has done, his wonders and the judgments of his mouth,

¹⁵ I will meditate in thy precepts and consider thy ways.

²³ ¶ Princes also sat and spoke against me as thy slave spoke according to thy statutes.

⁴⁸ I will lift up My hands unto thy commandments, which I have loved, and I will meditate in thy statutes.

⁹⁷ ¶ MEM. O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies have been my meditation.

¹⁴⁸ My eyes anticipate the night watches that I might meditate in thy spoken word.

⁵ I remembered the days of old; I meditated on all thy works; I mused on the work of thy hands.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

¹⁵ I beseech you, brethren (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia and that they have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints),

¹⁴ knowing that he who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise us up also by Jesus and shall present us with you.

⁵ And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord and then unto us by the will of God.

¹⁵ that ye may be blameless and innocent, children of God without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ holding fast the word of life, that I may glory in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.

¹⁰ Take heed now, for the LORD has chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.

⁶ and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do, for ye do not judge for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the word of judgment.

¹¹ So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall be prospered in that for which I sent it.

²² But if they had stood in my secret, they would also have caused my people to hear my words, and they would have caused them to return from their evil way and from the evil of their doings.

¹⁹ Yet if thou warn the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness nor from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. ²⁰ Again, When the righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die because thou hast not given him warning; he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at thy hand. ²¹ Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man that the righteous not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

⁷ So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth and warn them from me. ⁸ When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die for his sin; but I will require his blood at thine hand. ⁹ Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, if he does not turn from his way, he shall die for his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up in the councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be called before rulers and kings for my sake for a testimony unto them.

³⁴ And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with excess and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

²⁶ Therefore I take you to record this day that I am pure from the blood of everyone. ²⁷ For I have not refrained from declaring unto you the full counsel of God. ²⁸ Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has placed you as bishops to feed the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God, which he has purchased with his own blood.

²² Having, therefore, obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said should come:

⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

¹⁰ For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto saving health. ¹¹ For the scripture says, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. ¹² ¶ For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. ¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

¹⁴ if in any manner I may provoke my nation to jealousy and cause some of them to be saved.

¹⁷ ¶ And I beseech you, brethren, mark those who cause dissensions and offences outside of the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds upon it. But let each one see how the building is built. ¹¹ ¶ For no one can lay another foundation than that laid, which is Jesus the Christ.

²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to everyone, that I might by all means save some.

²⁷ but I keep my body under, and bring it into subjection, lest preaching to others, I myself should become reprobate.

¹⁷ And say to Archippus, Take heed to fulfil the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁹ For what is our hope or joy or crown of rejoicing? Is it not you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? ²⁰ For ye are our glory and joy.

³ Even as I besought thee to remain at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou might charge some that they not teach diverse doctrine,

¹⁰ Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the saving health which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and in that which has been entrusted unto thee, knowing of whom thou hast learned them,

⁹ holding fast the doctrine according to the faithful word, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

¹⁹ I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will repay it; albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

¹⁵ looking diligently that no one deviate from the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up impede you, and thereby many be defiled,

²⁰ let that one know, that whosoever causes the sinner to convert from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall cover a multitude of sins.

⁸ Look to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward. ⁹ Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.
