²¹ lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I would have to mourn over many who have sinned already and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.

³¹ Then Moses returned unto the LORD and said, I pray thee, for, this people who have sinned a great sin and have made themselves gods of gold,

¹⁵ So I turned and came down from the mount with the two tables of the covenant in my two hands and the mount burned with fire,

²⁵ Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first, because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

³⁵ And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death; nevertheless, Samuel mourned for Saul because the LORD had repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

³ And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle and plucked off of the hair of my head and of my beard and sat down astonied.

¹ ¶ Now as Ezra prayed and confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; and the people wept very sore.

¹³⁶ ¶ Rivers of waters ran down my eyes because they did not keep thy law.

¹ ¶ Oh that my head were waters and my eyes a fountain of tears that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹⁷ But if ye will not hear this, my soul shall weep in secret because of your pride; and weeping bitterly, my eyes shall be undone in tears because the LORD’s flock was carried away captive.

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and suffer you? Bring thy son here. ⁴² And as he was yet a coming, the demon threw him down into convulsions; but Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the child and delivered him again to his father.

² that I have great sorrow and continual pain in my heart.

¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

¹ ¶ It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

⁹ ¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to associate with fornicators, ¹⁰ yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then ye would need to go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

⁹ ¶ Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals ¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁵ Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them the members of a harlot? In no wise. ¹⁶ What? know ye not that he who is joined to the harlot is one body with her? For they shall be, saith he, two in one flesh. ¹⁷ But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. ¹⁸ Flee fornication. Any other sin that a man does is outside the body, but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

¹ ¶ But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in grief. ² For if I make you grieve, who is he then that shall make me glad, but the same who is grieved by me? ³ And I wrote this same unto you, lest when I came, I should have grief from those of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. ⁴ For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know how much more charity I have towards you. ⁵ ¶ But if any have caused me grief, he has not grieved me, but in part, that I may not put a burden on you all. ⁶ Sufficient to such a one is this reprehension, which was inflicted of many. ⁷ So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with too much grief. ⁸ Therefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your charity toward him. ⁹ For to this end also I wrote, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye are obedient in all things. ¹⁰ To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also; for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes I forgave it in the person of Christ, ¹¹ lest Satan should deceive us, for we do not ignore his devices.

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance; for ye were made sorry by God that ye might suffer no loss by us. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, of which there is no need to repented; but the sorrow of the world works death. ¹¹ For behold this same thing, that when ye were made sorry by God, what carefulness it wrought in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things ye have shown yourselves to be clean in this matter.

²⁴ Therefore show ye unto them before the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}, the proof of your charity and of our glorying regarding you.

³ Yet I have sent the brethren lest our glorying of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready, ⁴ lest haply if those of Macedonia come with me and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed of this our confidence.

⁶ and having a readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

⁷ And lest the greatness of the revelations should exalt me above measure, there is given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

² I told you before and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now, I write to those who until now have sinned and to all others that, if I come again, I will not spare,

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

⁵ For this ye know, that no fornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man, who is also an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

¹⁸ (For many walk, of whom I have told you often and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross {Gr. stauros – stake} of Christ; ¹⁹ whose end shall be perdition, whose God is their belly and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things).

⁵ ¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil lust, and covetousness, which is idolatry;

³ For the will of God is your sanctification, that ye should separate yourselves from fornication, ⁴ that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honesty, ⁵ not with affection of lust, as the Gentiles who do not know God, ⁶ that no one oppress and defraud his brother in any matter because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. ⁷ For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto sanctification.

⁴ Let marriage be honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

² so that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God. ³ For it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

¹⁰ ¶ and chiefly those that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise dominion; presumptuous, arrogant, they are not afraid to speak evil of the higher powers; ¹¹ whereas even the angels, who are greater in power and might, bring no curse of judgment against them before the Lord. ¹² But these, speaking evil of the things that they do not understand (as natural animals without reason, who are made to be taken and destroyed), shall utterly perish in their own corruption, ¹³ receiving the reward of their unrighteousness, as those that count it pleasure to live luxuriously every day. These are spots and blemishes, who eat together with you, while at the same time they revel in their deceit, ¹⁴ having their eyes full of adultery, and not knowing how to cease from sin, baiting unstable souls, having their heart exercised in covetous practices; cursed sons,

¹⁸ For speaking arrogant words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from those who converse in error,

⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrha and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh, were set forth for an example, having received the judgment of eternal fire.

²³ And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

⁸ But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

¹⁵ But outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and whosoever loves and makes a lie.

²⁰ ¶ He who testifies these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
