³ Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry not be blamed,

²⁷ Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea and cast a hook and take up the first fish that comes up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a stater, a coin worth four drachmas; take that, and give it unto them for me and thee.

⁶ But whosoever shall cause one of these little ones who believe in me to fall, it would be better for him that a millstone such as is turned by an ass be hanged about his neck and that he be sunk in the depth of the sea.

¹³ Let us, therefore, not judge one another any more, but judge this rather: that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

⁹ But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours becomes a stumblingblock to those that are weak. ¹⁰ For if anyone sees thee who hast this knowledge sit at food in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols? ¹¹ and through thy knowledge the weak brother shall perish, for whom Christ died. ¹² In this manner, therefore, sinning against the brethren and wounding their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. ¹³ Therefore, if food makes my brother to fall, I will never eat flesh nor do anything which may cause my brother to fall.

¹² If others are partakers of this authority over you, why not us? Nevertheless we have not used this authority, but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak; I am made all things to everyone, that I might by all means save some.

²³ ¶ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but all things do not edify. ²⁴ Let no one seek his own good, but that of the other.

³² Be without offense, neither to the Jews nor to the Gentiles nor to the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God; ³³ even as I please everyone in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

¹² ¶ For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world and more abundantly towards you.
