¹ ¶ And Moses called all Israel and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and rights which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them and keep them, to do them. ² The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. ³ Not with our fathers did the LORD make this covenant, but with us, all of us who are here alive this day. ⁴ The LORD spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire ⁵ (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD, for ye were afraid by reason of the fire and did not climb the mount), saying, ⁶ ¶ I AM thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt from the house of slavery. ⁷ Thou shalt have no other gods before me. ⁸ Thou shalt not make thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in the heavens above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the waters beneath the earth. ⁹ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them, for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me ¹⁰ and showing mercy unto thousands, to those that love me and keep my commandments. ¹¹ Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him innocent that takes his name in vain. ¹² Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God has commanded thee. ¹³ Six days thou shalt labour and do all thy work, ¹⁴ but the seventh day is the sabbath unto the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thy manslave nor thy maidslave nor thine ox nor thine ass nor any animal of thine nor thy stranger that is within thy gates, that thy manslave and thy maidslave may rest as well as thou. ¹⁵ And remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt and that the LORD thy God brought thee out of there with a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore, the LORD thy God has commanded thee to keep the sabbath day. ¹⁶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God has commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. ¹⁷ Thou shalt not murder. ¹⁸ Thou shalt not commit adultery. ¹⁹ Thou shalt not steal. ²⁰ Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour. ²¹ Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour’s wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s house, his field or his manslave or his maidslave, his ox or his ass or any thing that is thy neighbour’s. ²² These words the LORD spoke unto all your congregation in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice, and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone and delivered them unto me. ²³ ¶ And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness and saw the mountain that burned with fire that ye came near unto me, even all the princes of your tribes and your elders; ²⁴ and ye said, Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives. ²⁵ Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die. ²⁶ For what is all flesh that it should hear the voice of the living God that speaks out of the midst of the fire, as we heard, and live? ²⁷ Go thou near and hear all that the LORD our God shall say, and thou shalt tell us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it. ²⁸ And the LORD heard the voice of your words when ye spoke unto me, and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee; they have well said all that they have spoken. ²⁹ O that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always that it might be well with them and with their children for ever! ³⁰ Go say to them, Return to your tents. ³¹ But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments and the statutes and the rights, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to inherit. ³² Ye shall observe to do, therefore, as the LORD your God has commanded you; ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. ³³ Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you that ye may live and that it may be well with you and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye are to inherit.

¹ ¶ These are the words which Moses spoke unto all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

¹ ¶ Now, therefore, hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rights which I teach you, for in doing them ye shall live and go in and inherit the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you.

² Moses, therefore, called unto all Israel and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh and unto all his slaves and unto all his land,

¹⁰ ¶ Ye stand today, all of you, before the LORD your God, your princes of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

³ therefore, whatever they bid you to observe, observe it and do it, but do not act according to their works, for they say and do not do it.

⁵ Now therefore, if ye will give ear to hearken unto my voice and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a special treasure unto me above all peoples; for all the earth is mine. ⁶ And ye shall be my kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel. ⁷ Then Moses came and called for the elders of the people and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. ⁸ And all the people answered together and said, All that the LORD has spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

⁸ Then Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words.

²³ Keep yourselves, do not forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he established with you, and make yourselves a graven image or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God has forbidden thee.

⁶ ¶ but now a more excellent ministry is his, in that he is the mediator of a better testament, which was established upon better promises. ⁷ For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place should have been sought for the second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he said, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new testament with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, ⁹ not according to the testament that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not continue in my testament, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. ¹⁰ For this is the testament that I will ordain to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will give my laws into their soul and write them upon their hearts, and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: ¹¹ and no one shall teach his neighbour nor anyone his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. ¹² For I will reconcile their iniquities and their sins, and their iniquities I will remember no more. ¹³ In that he says, New, he has made the first old. Now that which decays and waxes old is ready to vanish away.

¹⁹ For when Moses had read every commandment of the law to all the people, taking the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book and all the people, ²⁰ saying, This is the blood of the testament which God has commanded unto you. ²¹ Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry. ²² And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. ²³ ¶ So that it was necessary that the figures of the heavenly things should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

⁷ ¶ And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.

²¹ But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

¹⁰ ¶ Ye stand today, all of you, before the LORD your God, your princes of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel, ¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and thy strangers that dwell within thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water, ¹² that thou may enter into covenant with the LORD thy God and into his oath, which the LORD thy God makes with thee today, ¹³ to confirm thee today as his people and that he may be unto thee as God, as he has said unto thee, and as he has sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. ¹⁴ Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath, ¹⁵ but with those that stand here with us today before the LORD our God and also with those that are not here with us today.

⁸ ¶ He has remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded for a thousand generations, ⁹ which covenant he made with Abraham and his oath unto Isaac ¹⁰ and confirmed the same unto Jacob by decree, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

³⁸ and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: ³⁹ and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me for ever for the good of them and of their sons after them: ⁴⁰ and I will make an eternal covenant with them, that I will not turn away from doing them good, and I will put my fear in their hearts that they shall not depart from me.

¹⁷ For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see and have not seen them and to hear those things which ye hear and have not heard them.

¹⁷ And this I say that regarding the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot cancel it, that it should make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. ¹⁹ ¶ For what then serves the law? It was added because of rebellions until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. ²⁰ Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. ²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? No, in no wise, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

⁸ For finding fault with them, he said, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new testament with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, ⁹ not according to the testament that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, because they did not continue in my testament, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

⁹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, I come unto thee in a thick cloud that the people may hear when I speak with thee and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the LORD.

¹⁸ And all Mount Sinai smoked because the LORD had descended upon it in fire, and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. ¹⁹ And the voice of the shofar sounded long and waxed louder and louder; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

¹⁸ ¶ And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. ¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die. ²⁰ Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. ²¹ Then the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. ²² ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the sons of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

¹¹ And the LORD would speak unto Moses face to face, as anyone would speak unto their friend. And he would turn again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart out of the tabernacle.

⁸ With him I will speak mouth to mouth and by sight not by enigmas; he shall see the similitude of the LORD. Why then were ye not afraid to speak against my slave Moses?

¹⁴ and the inhabitants of this land will say, for they have already heard that thou, oh LORD, wast among this people, that thou, O LORD, art seen face to face, and that thy cloud was over them, and that thou didst go before them by day time in a pillar of a cloud and in a pillar of fire by night;

³³ Have a people ever heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and lived?

³⁶ Out of the heavens he made thee to hear his voice that he might instruct thee, and upon earth he showed thee his great fire, and thou hast heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

²⁴ and ye said, Behold, the LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives. ²⁵ Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die. ²⁶ For what is all flesh that it should hear the voice of the living God that speaks out of the midst of the fire, as we heard, and live?

¹⁰ And there never arose a prophet since in Israel like Moses, who had known the LORD face to face,

²² And the men turned their faces from there and went toward Sodom; but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

¹⁶ ¶ And it came to pass on the third day when the morning came, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount and the voice of the shofar {ram’s horn} exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled.

¹⁸ ¶ And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. ¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die. ²⁰ Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. ²¹ Then the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

² And Moses alone shall approach the LORD, but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him. ³ And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the rights, and all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words which the LORD has said we will do.

⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

²⁷ Go thou near and hear all that the LORD our God shall say, and thou shalt tell us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath lest he should destroy them.

²¹ And of him shall be their Rock, and from the midst of him shall their Governor come forth; and I will cause him to come near, and he shall draw near unto me: for who is this that softened his heart to approach unto me? said the LORD.

¹ ¶ And he showed me Joshua the high priest, standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. ² And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD reprehend thee, O Satan; even the LORD that has chosen Jerusalem reprehend thee; is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? ³ Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and stood before the angel. ⁴ And the angel answered and spoke unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I have caused thee to be clothed with new raiment. ⁵ And I said, Let them set a clean mitre upon his head. So they set a clean mitre upon his head and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.

¹⁹ ¶ For what then serves the law? It was added because of rebellions until the seed should come to whom the promise was made, and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

²⁴ For Christ is not entered into the sanctuary made with hands (which is a figure of the true), but into the heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us,

¹⁸ ¶ For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched and that burned with fire nor unto blackness and darkness and tempest ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, which voice those that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more; ²⁰ (for they could not endure that which was commanded, and if so much as a beast should touch the mountain, it shall be stoned or thrust through with a dart: ²¹ and so terrible was the sight that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake); ²² but ye are come unto Mount Sion and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, ²³ to the congregation of the called out ones of the firstborn, who are registered in the heavens and to God the Judge of all and to the spirits of just men made perfect ²⁴ and to Jesus, the mediator of the new testament and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better than that of Abel.

² I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery. ³ Thou shalt have no other gods before me. ⁴ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath nor that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me ⁶ and showing mercy unto thousands of generations of those that love me and keep my commandments. ⁷ Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone that takes his name in vain. ⁸ Thou shalt remember the sabbath day, to sanctify it. ⁹ Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work; ¹⁰ but the seventh day shall be the sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manslave, nor thy maidslave, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; ¹¹ for in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it. ¹² ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee. ¹³ Thou shalt not murder. ¹⁴ Thou shalt not commit adultery. ¹⁵ Thou shalt not steal. ¹⁶ Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour. ¹⁷ Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manslave, nor his maidslave, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

¹ ¶ Ye shall make no idols for yourselves nor graven image, neither shall you raise up a title, neither shall ye place any painted stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I AM your God. ² Keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

⁴ But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive, every one of you this day.

⁵ This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt where I heard a language that I did not understand. ⁶ I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were delivered from working with clay. ⁷ Thou didst call in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. ⁸ ¶ Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee; O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me, ⁹ no strange god shall be in thee, neither shalt thou worship any strange god. ¹⁰ I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

³ Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

²³ that everyone should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

⁴ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath nor that is in the water under the earth.

¹⁵ Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire, ¹⁶ lest ye corrupt yourselves and make yourselves a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female, ¹⁷ the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flies in the air, ¹⁸ the likeness of any animal that moves on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth, ¹⁹ And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, and should be driven to worship them and serve them because the LORD thy God has conceded them unto all the peoples under all the heavens.

⁴ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath nor that is in the water under the earth. ⁵ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me ⁶ and showing mercy unto thousands of generations of those that love me and keep my commandments.

⁷ keeping mercy for thousands, letting go of iniquity and rebellion and sin; and by no means will I absolve the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons and upon the sons’ sons, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

¹⁴ for thou shalt worship no other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

¹⁸ The LORD is longsuffering and of great mercy, letting go of iniquity and transgression and absolving, but by no means absolving the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generations.

¹⁸ that thou dost show mercy in thousands and recompense the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their sons after them, the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of the hosts, is his name,

⁴ ¶ and I prayed unto the LORD my God and made my confession and said, Now O Lord, thou great God who is worthy to be feared, who keeps the covenant and the mercy with those that love thee and keep thy commandments; ⁵ we have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly, and we have been rebels, and we have departed from thy commandments and from thy judgments. ⁶ We have not hearkened unto thy slaves the prophets, who spoke in thy name to our kings and to our princes, to our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ O Lord, the righteousness belongs unto thee, but unto us the confusion of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near and that are far off through all the lands where thou hast driven them because of their rebellion with which they have rebelled against thee. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. ⁹ Of the Lord our God is the ability to have mercy and to forgive, even though we have rebelled against him

³⁵ that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

²⁸ So that, as concerning the gospel, I have them for enemies for your sakes; but as touching the election of God, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. ²⁹ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

⁵ And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. ⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart,

¹² ¶ And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, ¹³ to keep the commandments of the LORD and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

¹⁶ ¶ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; cease to do evil; ¹⁷ learn to do good; seek judgment; restore unto the oppressed; hear the fatherless in right judgment; protect the widow. ¹⁸ Then come, shall the LORD say, and we shall be even; if your sins were as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow; if they were red like crimson, they shall become as wool. ¹⁹ If ye are willing and hearken, ye shall eat the good of the land;

⁴ ¶ and I prayed unto the LORD my God and made my confession and said, Now O Lord, thou great God who is worthy to be feared, who keeps the covenant and the mercy with those that love thee and keep thy commandments;

²¹ ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in the heavens. ²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ²⁴ Therefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; ²⁵ and the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And every one that hears these words of mine and does not do them shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; ²⁷ and the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.

¹⁵ ¶ If ye love me, keep my commandments;

²¹ He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas, not Iscariot, said unto him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us and not unto the world?strong> ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, He who loves me will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and dwell with him.

¹⁴ Ye are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command you.

²⁸ And we now know that unto those who love God, all things help them unto good, to those who according to the purpose are called to be saints.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything nor uncircumcision, but faith which works by charity.

²⁵ But whosoever has looked attentively into the perfect law of liberty and has persevered in it, not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, the same shall be blessed in their deed.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have communion with him in the midst of us, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanses us from all sin.

² In this we know that we love the sons of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous.

⁷ Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone that takes his name in vain.

¹² And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou defile the name of thy God. I am the LORD.

¹³ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God and serve him and shalt swear by his name.

²⁰ For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

² And thou shalt swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteous ness; and the Gentiles shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

³³ ¶ Again, ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not perjure thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths; ³⁴ but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is God’s throne,

¹² ¶ But above all things, my brethren, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or by any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no, no; lest ye fall into condemnation.

⁸ Thou shalt remember the sabbath day, to sanctify it. ⁹ Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work; ¹⁰ but the seventh day shall be the sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manslave, nor thy maidslave, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; ¹¹ for in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore, the LORD blessed the sabbath day and sanctified it.

⁶ Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and that love the name of the LORD, to be his slaves, every one that keeps from polluting the sabbath, and takes hold of my covenant;

¹³ ¶ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy will on my holy day; and call the sabbath the delightful, holy, glorious day of the LORD; and shalt honour him by not doing thine own ways, nor seeking thine own will, nor speaking thine own words:

¹² Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest, that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid and the stranger may be refreshed.

² Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day shall be holy unto you, a sabbath of rest to the LORD; whoever does work therein shall die. ³ Ye shall kindle no fire in any of your habitations upon the sabbath day.

¹² And I also gave them my sabbaths to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctifies them.

¹⁴ And the prince of the synagogue answered with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, and said unto the people, There are six days in which it behooves men to work; in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. ¹⁵ The Lord then answered him and said, Thou hypocrite, does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead it away to drink? ¹⁶ And regarding this daughter of Abraham, who, behold, Satan had bound eighteen years, does it not behoove us to release her from this bond on the Sabbath day?

⁵⁶ And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

² And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

²⁹ See that the LORD has given you the sabbath; therefore, he gives you the bread of two days on the sixth day; abide ye every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. ³⁰ So the people rested on the seventh day.

⁴⁴ Both thy menslaves and thy maidslaves, which thou shalt have, shall be of the Gentiles that are round about you; of them shall ye buy slaves. ⁴⁵ Ye may also buy of the children of the strangers that live among you and of those of their lineage that are born in your land, who are with you, and they shall be your possession. ⁴⁶ And ye shall possess them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit as a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever; but over your brethren, the sons of Israel, ye shall not rule over one another with rigor.

⁵ Yet now, given that the flesh of our brethren is as our flesh and their sons as our sons, behold, we subject our sons and our daughters to slavery, and there are some of our daughters in bondage already; neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.

¹⁵ ¶ In those days I saw in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath and bringing in sheaves and lading asses with wine, grapes, figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day; and I protested unto them the day in which they sold the food.

²¹ Then I testified and protested against them and said unto them, Why do ye lodge about the wall? If ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth they came no more on the sabbath.

⁴ For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day like this, And God rested the seventh day from all his works.

³⁴ Or has God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and by wonders and by war and by a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? ³⁵ Unto thee it was shown that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is no one else other than he. ³⁶ Out of the heavens he made thee to hear his voice that he might instruct thee, and upon earth he showed thee his great fire, and thou hast heard his words out of the midst of the fire. ³⁷ And because he loved thy fathers, therefore, he chose their seed after them and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt,

⁶ ¶ I AM thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt from the house of slavery.

¹⁵ And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God ransomed thee; therefore, I command thee this thing to day.

¹² And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in Egypt; therefore thou shalt keep and do these statutes.

¹⁸ but thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in Egypt, and the LORD thy God ransomed thee from there; therefore, I command thee to do this thing. ¹⁹ When thou doest reap thy harvest in thy field and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to bring it; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, or for the widow, that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands. ²⁰ When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²¹ When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward; it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. ²² And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore, I command thee to do this thing.

¹⁶ This is so, O LORD, because I am thy slave; I am thy slave, the son of thine handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds.

¹ ¶ Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD; look unto the rock from which ye are hewn and to the hole of the pit from which ye are dug. ² Look unto Abraham your father and unto Sarah that bore you; for I called him alone and blessed him and multiplied him.

⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the Angel of his face saved them: with his love and with his clemency he redeemed them; and he bore them and carried them all the days of the age.

⁷⁴ that he would grant unto us, that without fear delivered out of the hand of our enemies, we might serve him ⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

¹¹ ¶ Therefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who were called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh, which is made by hands, ¹² that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world,

¹⁴ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a people of his own, zealous of good works.

¹² ¶ Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

³ Ye shall fear, every man his mother and his father and keep my sabbaths. I AM your God.

⁴⁰ Thou shalt keep, therefore, his statutes and his commandments which I command thee this day that it may go well with thee and with thy sons after thee and that thou may prolong thy days upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee, for ever.

¹⁶ Cursed is he that dishonours his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

⁴ For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother, and, He that curses father or mother, let him die without recourse. ⁵ But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, Whatever I might have helped thee with is already my offering unto God, ⁶ and now has no need to honour his father or his mother with succour. Thus ye have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.

¹⁹ Honour thy father and thy mother, and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

¹⁰ For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother, and, Whosoever curses father or mother shall most definitely die.

¹⁹ Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

²⁰ Thou knowest the commandments, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

¹ ¶ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ² Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), ³ that it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

⁶ Whoever sheds man’s blood in man, his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God is man made.

¹³ Thou shalt not murder.

²¹ ¶ Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit murder, and whosoever shall commit murder shall be guilty of the judgment; ²² but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother out of control shall be in danger of the judgment, and whosoever shall insult his brother shall be in danger of the council, but whosoever shall say, Thou art impious, shall be in danger of hell.

¹⁸ He said unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and if there is any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

¹¹ For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not murder. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou commit murder, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

¹⁴ Thou shalt not commit adultery.

¹⁰ ¶ And the man that commits adultery with another man’s wife, he that commits adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely die.

³² But whosoever commits adultery with a woman has a fault in his heart; he that does it corrupts his own soul. ³³ A wound and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall never be wiped away.

²⁷ ¶ Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit adultery; ²⁸ but I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

¹⁰ For whosoever shall have kept the whole law, and then offends in one point is made guilty of all. ¹¹ For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not murder. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou commit murder, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

¹⁵ Thou shalt not steal.

²⁸ Let him that stole steal no more, but rather let him labour, working with his hands that which is good, that he may have to give to him that is in need.

¹⁶ Thou shalt not give false testimony against thy neighbour.

¹ ¶ Thou shalt not admit a false rumour; put not thine hand with the wicked to be a false witness.

¹⁶ When a false witness rises up against any man to testify rebellion against him, ¹⁷ then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, who shall be in those days; ¹⁸ and the judges shall make diligent inquisition; and, behold, if the witness is a false witness and has testified falsely against his brother, ¹⁹ then shall ye do unto him as he had thought to have done unto his brother; so shalt thou put the evil away from among you. ²⁰ And those who remain shall hear and fear and shall never again commit any such evil among you. ²¹ And thine eye shall not pity, but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

¹³ Then the two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat before him; and those men of Belial witnessed against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth blasphemed God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones that he died.

¹⁹ a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

⁵ ¶ A false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.

⁹ ¶ The false witness shall not go unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.

⁵ And I will come near unto you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against false swearers and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and do not fear me, said the LORD of the hosts.

¹⁷ Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manslave, nor his maidslave, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass after these things that Naboth of Jezreel had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria. ² And Ahab spoke unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard that I may have it for a garden of herbs because it is next to my house, and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or if it seems good unto thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. ³ And Naboth replied unto Ahab, The LORD keep me from giving thee the inheritance of my fathers. ⁴ And Ahab came into his house, sad and angry, because of the word which Naboth of Jezreel had spoken to him, for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he lay down upon his bed and turned away his face and would eat no bread.

² And they coveted fields and stole them, and houses and took them away; so they oppressed the man and his house, even the man and his heritage.

⁹ Woe to him that covets ill-gotten gain by violence for his house that he may set his nest on high, that he may escape from the power of evil!

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.

⁷ ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? No, in no wise. But, I did not know sin except by the law; for neither would I have known lust if the law did not say, Thou shalt not covet. ⁸ Then sin, when there was occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of lust. For without the law sin was as if it were dormant.

⁹ For those that desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil, which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁵ Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; for he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

¹² ¶ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount and wait there, and I will give thee tables of stone and the law and commandments which I have written to teach them.

¹⁸ And he gave unto Moses, when he finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

¹² And the LORD spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire; ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no likeness; only ye heard a voice. ¹³ And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, the ten words; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. ¹⁴ And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you the statutes and rights that ye might do them in the land which ye are about to enter to possess. ¹⁵ Diligently guard, therefore, your souls, for ye saw no manner of likeness on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,

⁴ The LORD spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire

¹⁸ ¶ And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. ¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die.

¹⁸ ¶ For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched and that burned with fire nor unto blackness and darkness and tempest ¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, which voice those that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more; ²⁰ (for they could not endure that which was commanded, and if so much as a beast should touch the mountain, it shall be stoned or thrust through with a dart: ²¹ and so terrible was the sight that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake);

³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for I have seen God face to face, and my soul was saved.

¹⁹ And the voice of the shofar sounded long and waxed louder and louder; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

²⁰ He further said, Thou canst not see my face; for no man shall see me and live.

⁴ The LORD spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire ⁵ (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD, for ye were afraid by reason of the fire and did not climb the mount), saying,

²² And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die because we have seen God.

¹⁶ according to all that thou didst desire of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, lest I die.

² And he said, The LORD came from Sinai and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of holiness, at his right hand the law of fire for them.

⁷ But if the ministry of death in the letter engraved in stones was glorious, so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance which glory was to fade away, ⁸ How shall not the ministry of the Spirit be for greater glory? ⁹ For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, much more shall the ministry of righteousness abound in glory. ¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? No, in no wise, for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. ²² But the scripture has concluded all under sin that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to the believers.

²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.

¹² And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth.

¹⁰ And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Hivite and the Perizzite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Jebusite.

² My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?

² My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh sing to the living God.

⁶ The voice that said, Cry. And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the mercy thereof is as the open flower of the field:

¹⁰ But the LORD God is the Truth, he himself is Living God and Everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the Gentiles shall not be able to abide his indignation.

²⁶ On my behalf a statute is put into effect, That in all the dominion of my kingdom everyone tremble at the presence of the God of Daniel for he is the living God and endures for all ages, and his kingdom is such that it shall never come apart, and his dominion shall be even unto the end:

⁶³ But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God.

¹⁵ and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all the things that are therein,

²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

¹⁶ And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them and walk in them and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

⁹ For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God

¹⁹ And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us lest we die.

¹⁹ and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, which voice those that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more;

⁷ The daughters of Zelophehad speak right; thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren, and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

⁵ ¶ Then Moses commanded the sons of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken well.

¹⁷ And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.

¹⁶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God has commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

³ Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it that it may be well with thee and that ye may be multiplied exceedingly (as the LORD God of thy fathers has said unto thee) in the land that flows with milk and honey.

¹⁸ And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD that it may be well with thee and that thou may enter in and inherit the good land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers

¹ ¶ Therefore, thou shalt love the LORD thy God and keep his charge and his statutes and his rights and his commandments, always.

²⁵ Thou shalt not eat it that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

²⁸ Keep and hear all these words which I command thee that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

¹³ Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel that it may go well with thee.

⁷ But thou shalt let the mother go and take the young for thyself, that it may be well with thee and that thou may prolong thy days.

²⁹ O that they were wise, if they were prudent, they would understand their latter end! ³⁰ How could one chase a thousand and two put ten thousands to flight if their strong One had not sold them, and the LORD had not delivered them up?

¹ ¶ Then Naomi, her mother-in-law, said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee that it may be well with thee?

¹¹ Moreover by them is thy slave warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

¹³ Oh, if my people would hearken unto me and Israel would walk in my ways! ¹⁴ I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their adversaries. ¹⁵ The haters of the LORD would have submitted themselves unto him, and their time would endure for ever.

³ Happy are those that keep judgment and he that does righteousness at all times.

¹ ¶ ALEPH. Blessed are those who walk in the perfect way, who walk in the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are those that keep his testimonies and that seek him with their whole heart. ³ For those who do no iniquity walk in his ways. ⁴ ¶ Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. ⁵ O that my ways were ordered to keep thy statutes!

¹⁰ Say unto the righteous that it shall be well with him, for they shall eat of the fruit of their doings.

¹⁸ O that thou would look unto my commandments! Then thy peace would be as a river and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

¹⁴ That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cuts out windows in it and covers it with cedar and anoints it with vermilion. ¹⁵ Shalt thou reign, because thou dost enclose thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink and do judgment and righteousness, and then it was well with him?

⁴ Howbeit I sent unto you all my slaves the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

³¹ And they shall come unto thee as the people come, and they shall be before thee, my people, and they shall hear thy words, but they shall not do them; for with their mouth they flatter, but their heart goes after their covetousness. ³² And, behold, thou art unto them as a singer of love songs, one that has a good voice and can sing well: and they shall hear thy words, but they will not do them.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that didst kill the prophets and stone those who are sent unto thee, how often I desired to gather thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

²⁸ But he said, Rather, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it.

⁴² saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did exhort you by us; we beseech you in Christ’s name, be ye reconciled to God.

¹ ¶ We then, as workers together with him, exhort you also that ye have not received the grace of God in vain.

³ that it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,

¹⁴ Blessed are those who do his commandments that their power and authority might be in the tree of life and they may enter in through the gates into the city.

⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and rights, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do thus in the midst of the land where ye are about to enter in to possess it.

⁴⁵ These are the testimonies and the statutes and the rights, which Moses spoke unto the sons of Israel after they came forth out of Egypt,

¹ ¶ And Moses called all Israel and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and rights which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them and keep them, to do them.

¹ ¶ Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the rights, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you that ye might do them in the land into which ye go to inherit it

¹ ¶ These are the statutes and rights which ye shall keep to do them in the land which the LORD God of thy fathers gives thee to inherit all the days that ye live upon the land.

¹¹ and I gave them my statutes and declared unto them my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them.

⁴ ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.

¹ ¶ Now, therefore, hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rights which I teach you, for in doing them ye shall live and go in and inherit the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you. ² Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish anything from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

²⁵ And we shall have justice when we keep ourselves by doing all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.

¹ ¶ Take care to do all the commandments which I command thee this day that ye may live and be multiplied and enter in and inherit the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.

³² Keep yourselves, therefore, to do all the statutes and rights which I set before you this day.

³² Keep thyself, and do all that I command you; thou shalt not add to it nor diminish from it.

²⁰ that his heart be not lifted up above his brethren and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand or to the left, to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his sons, in the midst of Israel.

⁸ Keep yourselves from the plague of leprosy that thou observe diligently and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you; as I commanded them, so ye shall take care to do.

¹⁴ And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

⁷ Only be thou strong and very courageous that thou mayest keep and do according to all the law, which Moses my slave commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou may be prospered in all the things that thou doest.

⁶ Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses without turning aside to the right hand or to the left

⁸ neither will I make the feet of Israel move any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, only if they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that my slave Moses commanded them.

⁵ As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall take them away with the workers of iniquity; and peace shall be upon Israel.

²⁷ Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.

²⁴ And David my slave shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk within my rights and keep my statutes and do them.

²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

²⁹ O that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always that it might be well with them and with their children for ever!

¹² ¶ And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

⁶ Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have insight unto all thy commandments.

²³ But this thing I commanded them, saying, Hear my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the way that I have commanded you that it may be well unto you.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless.

⁷ to those who persevered in well doing, glory and honour and incorruption, to those who seek eternal life;

⁸ For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
