¹ ¶ Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the rights, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you that ye might do them in the land into which ye go to inherit it ² that thou might fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life and that thy days may be prolonged. ³ Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it that it may be well with thee and that ye may be multiplied exceedingly (as the LORD God of thy fathers has said unto thee) in the land that flows with milk and honey. ⁴ ¶ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD. ⁵ And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. ⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart, ⁷ and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up; ⁸ and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes; ⁹ and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and on thy gates. ¹⁰ And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto thee: great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which thou didst not fill, and hewn out wells, which thou didst not dig, vineyards and olive trees, which thou didst not plant; when thou shalt have eaten and be full, ¹² then beware lest thou forget the LORD, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. ¹³ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God and serve him and shalt swear by his name. ¹⁴ Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you ¹⁵ (for the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest peradventure the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee and destroy thee from off the face of the earth. ¹⁶ Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. ¹⁷ ¶ Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded thee. ¹⁸ And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD that it may be well with thee and that thou may enter in and inherit the good land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers ¹⁹ so that he will cast out all thine enemies from before thy presence, as the LORD has spoken. ²⁰ And when tomorrow thy son asks thee, saying, What are the testimonies and the statutes and the rights, which the LORD our God has commanded you? ²¹ Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand; ²² and the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and sore, in Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes; ²³ and he brought us out from there that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers. ²⁴ And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes that we might fear the LORD our God for our good always that he might give us life, as it is at this day. ²⁵ And we shall have justice when we keep ourselves by doing all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.

³⁴ These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the sons of Israel in Mount Sinai.

¹³ These are the commandments and the rights which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho.

¹ ¶ Now, therefore, hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rights which I teach you, for in doing them ye shall live and go in and inherit the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you.

⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and rights, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do thus in the midst of the land where ye are about to enter in to possess it.

¹⁴ And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you the statutes and rights that ye might do them in the land which ye are about to enter to possess.

⁴⁵ These are the testimonies and the statutes and the rights, which Moses spoke unto the sons of Israel after they came forth out of Egypt,

³¹ But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments and the statutes and the rights, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to inherit.

¹ ¶ These are the statutes and rights which ye shall keep to do them in the land which the LORD God of thy fathers gives thee to inherit all the days that ye live upon the land.

²⁴ And David my slave shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk within my rights and keep my statutes and do them.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his sons and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and judgment, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him.

¹² And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou doest fear God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

²⁰ Then Moses said unto the people, Fear not, for God is come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

¹⁰ The day that thou didst stand before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather the people together unto me, and I will make them hear my words that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth and that they may teach their sons.

⁴⁰ Thou shalt keep, therefore, his statutes and his commandments which I command thee this day that it may go well with thee and with thy sons after thee and that thou may prolong thy days upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee, for ever.

¹⁶ Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God has commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

³³ Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you that ye may live and that it may be well with you and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye are to inherit.

⁷ and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up;

¹² ¶ And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, ¹³ to keep the commandments of the LORD and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

²⁰ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave and swear by his name.

⁴ Ye shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and hear his voice, and ye shall serve him and cleave unto him.

⁷ But thou shalt let the mother go and take the young for thyself, that it may be well with thee and that thou may prolong thy days.

²⁸ And unto man he said, Behold, that the fear of the Lord, is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD and his strength and his wonderful works that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the sons which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their sons ⁷ that they might set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments ⁸ and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set their heart aright and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Blessed is every one that fears the LORD, that walks in his ways.

¹ ¶ My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments: ² For they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

⁶ ¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

¹³ ¶ The conclusion of the entire sermon is heard: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole happiness of man.

⁵ But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who, after being killed, has power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

¹⁷ And if ye invoke as Father, he who without respect of persons judges according to the work of each one, converse in fear the entire time of your sojourning here,

¹⁰ For he that desires to love life and see the good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile; ¹¹ let him separate himself from evil and do good; let him seek peace and follow it.

² and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.

¹⁶ And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, so that if someone could number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

⁵ And he brought him forth abroad and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars, if thou art able to number them. And he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

¹⁷ that in blessing I will bless thee and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gates of his enemies;

⁴ and I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven and will give unto thy seed all these lands, and in thy seed shall all the Gentiles of the earth be blessed

¹⁴ and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt multiply to the west and to the east and to the Aquilon and to the Negev; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁷ And the sons of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly and multiplied and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

⁸ and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land unto a good and broad land, unto a land flowing with milk and honey, unto the places of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.

⁶ Keep them, therefore, and do them, for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

³² Ye shall observe to do, therefore, as the LORD your God has commanded you; ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. ³³ Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you that ye may live and that it may be well with you and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye are to inherit.

¹² Though a sinner does evil one hundred times and his judgment is prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with those that fear God, who fear before his presence;

¹⁰ Say unto the righteous that it shall be well with him, for they shall eat of the fruit of their doings.

¹⁷ ¶ But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

³⁵ Unto thee it was shown that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is no one else other than he. ³⁶ Out of the heavens he made thee to hear his voice that he might instruct thee, and upon earth he showed thee his great fire, and thou hast heard his words out of the midst of the fire.

⁶ ¶ I AM thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt from the house of slavery.

²¹ ¶ And Elijah came near unto all the people and said, How long shall ye halt between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him. And the people did not answer him a word.

⁵ So the slaves of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

¹⁰ ¶ and blessed the LORD before all the congregation; and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.

⁸ I am the LORD. This is my name, and my glory I will not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

⁶ Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel and his redeemer, the LORD of the hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

⁸ Do not fear, neither be afraid; have I not caused thee to hear from of old and declared unto thee beforehand that which was to come? Then ye are my witnesses that there is no God but me, and there is no Strong One that I do not know.

⁵ ¶ I am the LORD, and there is no one else; there is no God beside me; I shall gird thee, though thou hast not known me ⁶ that it may be known from the rising of the sun and from where it goes down that there is no one beside me. I am the LORD, and there is no one else.

¹⁰ But the LORD God is the Truth, he himself is Living God and Everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the Gentiles shall not be able to abide his indignation. ¹¹ Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens or the earth, even they shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.

²⁹ And Jesus responded unto him, The principal of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God, the Lord is one; ³⁰ and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy thought and with all thy strength: this is the principal commandment. ³¹ And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these. ³² Then the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth, that God is one, and there is none other outside of him;

³⁰ I and my Father are one.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

⁴ ¶ As concerning, therefore, the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. ⁵ For though there are some that are called gods, whether in heaven or in the earth (as there are many gods and many lords), ⁶ but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

⁵ For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

²⁹ But if from there, thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

¹² ¶ And now, Israel, what does the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

¹³ And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day: to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul

⁶ And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul, that thou may live.

²⁵ ¶ There was no king before him that converted like this to the LORD with all his heart and all his soul and all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither did any like him arise after him.

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

³⁷ Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.

³⁰ and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy thought and with all thy strength: this is the principal commandment.

³³ and to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the soul and with all the strength and to love his neighbour as himself is more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.

²⁷ And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy strength and with all thy understanding, and thy neighbour as thyself.

²⁰ At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. ²¹ He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.

¹⁴ For the charity of the Christ constrains us because we judge thus: that if one died for all, then all are dead: ¹⁵ And that he died for all that those who live should not live from now on unto themselves, but unto him who died and rose again for them.

³ For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous.

¹⁸ ¶ Therefore, ye shall lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul and bind them for a sign upon your hand that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

⁴⁶ and he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I protest against you today, to command them unto your children and keep and fulfil all the words of this law.

³¹ The law of his God is in his heart; therefore none of his steps shall slide.

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

¹¹ ¶ Thy spoken word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

⁹⁸ ¶ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are eternal unto me.

¹⁰ ¶ When wisdom enters into thine heart and knowledge is sweet unto thy soul, ¹¹ discretion shall preserve thee, intelligence shall keep thee

¹ ¶ My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments: ² For they shall add length of days and long life and peace unto thee. ³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the tablet of thine heart:

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

³ Bind them upon thy fingers; write them upon the tablet of thine heart.

⁷ Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; do not fear the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings.

³³ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the LORD, I will give my law in their souls and write it in their hearts and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

⁵¹ And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject unto them, but his mother kept all these things in her heart.

¹⁵ But that on the good ground are those who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.

³ Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

¹⁶ Let the word of the Christ dwell in you in abundance in all wisdom, teaching you and exhorting you one to another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with grace singing in your hearts unto the Lord.

² for the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

²⁶ And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What do you mean by this service? ²⁷ That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’s passover, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses. Then the people bowed and worshipped.

¹⁴ And it shall be when thy son asks thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Thou shalt say unto him, With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery; ¹⁵ and it came to pass when Pharaoh was hardening himself to not let us go that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt from the human firstborn to the firstborn of the beast; therefore, I sacrifice to the LORD every male that opens the womb, and I ransom every firstborn of my sons.

⁹ Therefore, take heed to thyself and keep thy soul diligently lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life, but teach them to thy sons and thy sons’ sons. ¹⁰ The day that thou didst stand before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather the people together unto me, and I will make them hear my words that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth and that they may teach their sons.

¹⁹ And ye shall teach them to your children that ye may think of them sitting in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up.

⁴ ¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

¹² Let the LORD recompense thy work and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to cover thyself.

¹¹ And all the people that were in the gate and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thy house like Rachel and like Leah, who built the house of Israel; and be thou a man of valour in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem;

³⁰ Pe The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue brings forth judgment.

⁹ I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; behold, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest. ¹⁰ I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy truth and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy mercy and thy truth from the great congregation.

⁴ We will not hide them from their sons, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD and his strength and his wonderful works that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the sons which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their sons

⁴⁶ I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings and will not be ashamed.

⁸ Neither did those who go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you; we bless you in the name of the LORD.

²² When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

²¹ The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom.

² ¶ The tongue of the wise shall adorn wisdom, but the mouth of fools shall speak foolishness.

⁷ ¶ The lips of the wise disperse wisdom, but the heart of the foolish does not so.

¹⁶ Then those that feared the LORD spoke one to another, and the LORD hearkened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for those that feared the LORD and for those that think in his name.

³⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

⁴⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil, for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

²⁹ Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good for edification, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

⁴ And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

⁶ Let your word be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer each one.

¹⁵ but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence,

⁹ And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thy hand and for a memorial before thine eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in thy mouth; for with a strong hand the LORD has brought thee out of Egypt.

¹⁶ And it shall be for a token upon thy hand, and for a memorial before thine eyes: That the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand.

³⁸ Speak unto the sons of Israel and bid them that they make for themselves fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue. ³⁹ And it shall be unto you for a fringe that ye may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, seeking after which ye fornicate.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the tablet of thine heart:

²¹ Bind them continually upon thine heart and tie them about thy neck.

⁵ But they do all their works that they may be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders of their garments

¹ ¶ Therefore, it is necessary that we with more diligence keep the things which we have heard, so that we do not fall.

⁷ And they shall take of the blood and put it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses in which they shall eat it.

²⁰ And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house and upon thy gates

²³ ¶ Oh, that my words were now written! Oh, that they were printed in a book! ²⁴ That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! ²⁵ For I know that my redeemer lives and that he shall rise at the latter day over the dust;

⁸ ¶ Now go, write this vision before them on a tablet and note it in a book that it may remain unto the last day, for ever, unto all ages.

⁸ Behind the doors also and the posts thou hast set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed and made thee a covenant with them; thou didst love their bed wherever thou didst see it.

² And the LORD answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables that he may run that reads it.

¹⁵ for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it and to thy seed for ever. ¹⁶ And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth, so that if someone could number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. ¹⁷ Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it, for I must give it unto thee.

¹⁸ In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed shall I give this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

³ abide in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these lands, and I will confirm the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father;

¹³ And, behold, the LORD stood above it and said, I AM the God of Abraham, thy father, and the God of Isaac; the land upon which thou dost lie, to thee will I give it and to thy seed;

¹³ And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour and cities which ye did not build, and ye dwell in them and eat of vineyards and oliveyards which ye did not plant.

²⁵ And they took strong cities and fertile land and inherited houses full of all goods, hewn cisterns, vineyards and oliveyards and many trees of good fruit; so they ate and were filled and became fat and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.

⁵⁵ He cast out the Gentiles also before them and divided them an inheritance by line and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their habitations.

⁴⁴ and gave them the lands of the Gentiles, and they inherited the labour of the nations,

¹² ¶ And it shall come to pass, for having heard these rights and for having kept them by doing them that the LORD thy God shall keep the covenant with thee and the mercy which he swore unto thy fathers; ¹³ and he will love thee and bless thee and multiply thee; he will also bless the fruit of thy womb and the fruit of thy land, thy grain and thy wine and thine oil, the increase of thy cows and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he swore unto thy fathers to give thee. ¹⁴ Thou shalt be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be male or female barren among you or among your beasts. ¹⁵ And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee, but will lay them upon all those that hate thee. ¹⁶ And thou shalt consume all the peoples which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them; neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee. ¹⁷ When thou shalt say in thy heart, These Gentiles are more than I; how can I dispossess them? ¹⁸ Do not be afraid of them; remember well what the LORD thy God did with Pharaoh and with all Egypt;

¹⁰ ¶ Thou shalt eat and be full and bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he has given thee. ¹¹ Keep thyself, that thou forget not the LORD thy God, to not fulfill his commandments and his rights and his statutes, which I command thee this day, ¹² lest peradventure when thou hast eaten and art full and hast built goodly houses and dwelt therein, ¹³ and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied and all that thou hast is multiplied, ¹⁴ then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery, ¹⁵ who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness of burning serpents and scorpions and drought, where there was no water, who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint, ¹⁶ who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, a food which thy fathers knew not, afflicting thee and proving thee, to do thee good at thy latter end; ¹⁷ and thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth. ¹⁸ But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God, for it is he that gives thee the power to get wealth that he may confirm his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day. ¹⁹ And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God and walk after other gods and serve them and worship them, I protest against you this day that ye shall surely perish. ²⁰ As the Gentiles which the LORD shall destroy before your face, so shall ye perish because ye would not attend to the voice of the LORD your God.

¹⁵ ¶ But Jeshurun (the upright one) waxed fat and kicked; (thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou hast covered thyself) and forsook the God who made him and lightly esteemed the strong One of his saving health.

⁷ And the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD and forgot the LORD their God and served the Baalim and the groves.

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my judgment: ⁹ Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and blaspheme the name of my God.

³¹ O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? Why do my people say, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee? ³² Shall the virgin, perchance, forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

¹⁰ I clothed thee also with broidered work and shod thee with badgers’ skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I clothed thee with silk. ¹¹ I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy arms and a chain on thy neck. ¹² And I put nose rings upon thy nostrils and earrings in thine ears and a diadem of beauty upon thine head. ¹³ Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen and silk and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour of wheat and honey and oil: and thou wast made exceeding beautiful, and thou hast prospered even until thou hast reigned. ¹⁴ And thy renown went forth among the Gentiles for thy beauty; for it was perfect because of my beauty which I placed upon thee, said the Lord GOD. ¹⁵ ¶ But thou didst trust in thine own beauty and didst play the harlot because of thy renown and didst pour out thy fornications on every one that passed by; thou wert his. ¹⁶ And of thy garments thou didst take and make altars of divers colours and play the harlot thereupon; the like shall not come again, neither shall it be so. ¹⁷ Thou hast taken likewise the vessels of thy beauty of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee and made to thyself images of men and didst commit whoredom with them ¹⁸ And thou didst take thy garments of many colours and cover them; and thou hast set my oil and my incense before them. ¹⁹ My bread also which I had given thee; the fine flour and the oil and the honey with which I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour; and thus it was, said the Lord GOD. ²⁰ Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these thou hast sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter,

²³ ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is difficult that a rich man shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens. ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier to put a cable through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

¹² And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou defile the name of thy God. I am the LORD.

²⁹ O that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always that it might be well with them and with their children for ever!

¹² Now, therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD since I have showed you mercy that ye will also do the same unto my father’s house, of which thou shalt give me a true sign,

⁴ In whose eyes the vile person is not esteemed; but he honours those that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt and does not change.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall be praised; for the mouth of those that speak lies shall be stopped.

²³ I have sworn by myself; the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow; every tongue shall swear.

¹⁶ He who blesses himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that swears in the earth shall swear by the God of truth because the former troubles shall be forgotten and shall be covered from my eyes.

² And thou shalt swear, The LORD lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteous ness; and the Gentiles shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.

² And if they should say, The LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.

⁷ How shall I pardon thee for this? Thy sons have forsaken me and sworn by them that are not gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear in my name, saying, The LORD lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal then they shall be prospered in the midst of my people.

¹⁰ Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁸ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

¹⁴ for thou shalt worship no other god; for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. ¹⁵ Therefore thou shalt not make a covenant with the inhabitants of that land because they shall fornicate after their gods and do sacrifice unto their gods, and they shall call thee, and thou shalt eat of their sacrifices ¹⁶ or take of their daughters unto thy sons, and when their daughters go fornicating after their gods they shall make thy sons also fornicate after their gods.

¹⁹ And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God and walk after other gods and serve them and worship them, I protest against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

²⁸ and the curse if ye will not hear the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

⁷ namely, of the gods of the peoples who are round about you, near unto thee or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth,

⁶ and do not go after other gods to serve them and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

²¹ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

⁴ For yet in seven days, I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.

⁵ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

¹² Why should the Egyptians speak and say, For evil did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from upon the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath and repent of the evil of thy people.

¹⁰ And the LORD’s anger was kindled the same time, and he swore, saying, ¹¹ Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they were not perfect in following me, ¹² except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua, the son of Nun, for they were perfect in following the LORD. ¹³ And the LORD’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD was consumed. ¹⁴ And, behold, ye are risen up in the place of your fathers, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel. ¹⁵ For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave you in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

²⁴ For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

⁹ Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them, for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons unto the third and fourth generation of those that hate me

⁴ For they will turn away thy son from following me that they may serve other gods; and the anger of the LORD will be kindled upon you and destroy thee suddenly.

¹⁷ and then the LORD’s wrath be kindled against you and he shut up the heavens, that there be no rain and that the land yield not her fruit, and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD gives you.

³⁴ And this became the cause of sin unto the house of Jeroboam for which it was cut off and destroyed from off the face of the earth.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and misused his prophets until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, and there was no remedy.

⁷ ¶ For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath we are troubled.

¹¹ Who knows the power of thine anger? that thy wrath is not less than our fear.

² You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore, I will visit all your iniquities against you.

⁸ Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are against the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, said the LORD.

²² Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

² And the people chided with Moses and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? Why do ye tempt the LORD?

⁷ And he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah because of the chiding of the sons of Israel and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

³ And the people contended with Moses and spoke, saying, Oh, that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD! ⁴ And why have ye caused the congregation of the LORD to come into this wilderness that we and our beasts should die here?

¹³ These are the waters of Meribah; over which the sons of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.

⁴ ¶ And they journeyed from Mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to go around the land of Edom, and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. ⁵ And the people spoke against God and against Moses, Why have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this light bread.

⁸ harden not your heart, as in the provocation and as in the day of trials in the wilderness ⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹² And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

⁹ Neither let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted and perished by the serpents.

⁸ harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: ⁹ Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

²⁶ and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God and wilt do that which is right in his sight and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD thy Healer.

¹ ¶ Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the rights, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you that ye might do them in the land into which ye go to inherit it ² that thou might fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life and that thy days may be prolonged.

²² For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, loving the LORD your God and walking in all his ways, to cleave unto him,

⁴ ¶ Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

⁵⁸ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

⁸ The Word is faithful, and I desire that thou affirm this constantly, that those who have believed God might be careful to conduct themselves in good works. This is good and profitable unto men.

¹¹ But we desire that each one of you show the same diligence until the end for the fulfillment of your hope,

⁵ ¶ Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; ⁷ and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. ⁸ For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he that lacks these things is blind and walks feeling the way with his hand, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. ¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, give all the more diligence to make your calling and election sure; for doing these things, ye shall never fall.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that ye hope for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless.

¹¹ Keep thyself, that thou forget not the LORD thy God, to not fulfill his commandments and his rights and his statutes, which I command thee this day,

²⁵ Thou shalt not eat it that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

²⁸ Keep and hear all these words which I command thee that it may go well with thee and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

¹⁸ when thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, keeping all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

¹¹ Moreover by them is thy slave warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

⁵ But if a man is just and does judgment and righteousness,

¹⁹ Yet if ye say, Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? Because the son has lived according to judgment and righteousness and has kept all my statutes and has done them, he shall surely live.

²¹ ¶ But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed and keep all my statutes and live according to judgment and righteousness, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

²⁷ Again, when the wicked man leaves his wickedness that he has committed and lives according to judgment and righteousness, he shall cause his soul to live.

¹⁴ And, when I am saying unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turns from his sin, and does judgment and righteousness

¹⁶ None of his sins that he has committed shall be mentioned unto him. Has he lived according to judgment and righteousness? He shall surely live.

¹⁹ And when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does judgment and righteousness, he shall live thereby.

⁹ Who is wise that he might understand this? and prudent that he might know this? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the rebellious shall fall therein.

²⁹ And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please him.

² And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

²⁸ And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before thee. ²⁹ I will not drive them out from before thee in one year lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply against thee. ³⁰ Little by little I will drive them out from before thee until thou be multiplied and take the land by inheritance.

⁵² then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you and abolish all their paintings and abolish all their molten images and destroy all their high places, ⁵³ and ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land and dwell therein; for I have given you the land to inherit it.

¹ ¶ And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, I brought you up out of Egypt and caused you to enter into the land which I swore unto your fathers, and I said, I will never break my covenant with you ² as long as ye make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; to the contrary, ye shall throw down their altars, but ye have not heard my voice; why have ye done this? ³ Therefore, I also said, I will not drive them out from before you, but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

¹ ¶ Now these are the Gentiles which the LORD left, to prove Israel with them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan; ² he left them only that the generations of the sons of Israel might know, and to teach them war, only for those that had known nothing before: ³ namely, five cardinals of the Philistines and all the Canaanites and the Sidonians and the Hivites that dwelt in Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath. ⁴ These, therefore, were left to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he had commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

²⁶ And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What do you mean by this service?

¹⁴ And it shall be when thy son asks thee in time to come, saying, What is this? Thou shalt say unto him, With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery;

⁶ that this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean unto you? ⁷ Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the sons of Israel for ever.

²¹ And he spoke unto the sons of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What do these stones mean unto you? ²² Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. ²³ For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan from before you until ye had passed, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us until we had passed, ²⁴ that all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty; that ye might fear the LORD your God all the days.

⁶ ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.

¹⁹ For I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go except by a mighty hand.

³ And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery; for the LORD has brought you out of here with a strong hand; therefore, ye shall not eat with leaven.

² I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery.

¹⁵ And remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt and that the LORD thy God brought thee out of there with a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore, the LORD thy God has commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

¹⁵ And thou shalt remember that thou wast a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God ransomed thee; therefore, I command thee this thing to day.

⁵ Then thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, My father, the Syrian, perishing of hunger went down into Egypt and sojourned there with a few and became there a nation, great, mighty, and many; ⁶ and the Egyptians mistreated us and afflicted us and laid upon us hard bondage. ⁷ And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice and looked on our affliction and our labour and our oppression. ⁸ And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with great terribleness and with signs and with wonders; ⁹ and he has brought us into this place and has given us this land, even a land that flows with milk and honey.

⁹ And thou didst see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt and didst hear their cry by the Red sea ¹⁰ and didst show signs and wonders upon Pharaoh and on all his slaves and on all the people of his land; for thou didst know that they had dealt proudly against them. So didst thou make thee a name, as it is this day.

¹⁰ ¶ To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endures for ever: ¹¹ And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endures for ever: ¹² With a strong hand and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endures for ever.

¹ ¶ Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD; look unto the rock from which ye are hewn and to the hole of the pit from which ye are dug.

²⁰ who hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and in the man, and hast made thee a name, as at this day; ²¹ and hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a strong hand and with a stretched out arm and with great terror;

¹⁷ Thank God that, although ye were the slaves of sin, ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine unto which ye are delivered; ¹⁸ and freed from sin, ye are become the slaves of righteousness.

¹¹ ¶ Therefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who were called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh, which is made by hands, ¹² that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world,

¹ ¶ The LORD said unto Moses, See, I have constituted thee as god unto Pharaoh; and Aaron, thy brother, shall be thy prophet. ² Thou shalt speak all that I shall command thee; and Aaron, thy brother, shall speak unto Pharaoh that he send the sons of Israel out of his land. ³ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ And Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, but I shall lay my hand upon Egypt and bring forth my hosts, and my people, the sons of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. ⁵ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I stretch forth my hand upon Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from among them. ⁶ And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they. ⁷ And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke unto Pharaoh. ⁸ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, ⁹ If Pharaoh shall answer you, saying, Show a miracle, then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod and cast it before Pharaoh, that it shall become a dragon. ¹⁰ So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did as the LORD had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his slaves, and it became a dragon. ¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called wise men and sorcerers; now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their fire worship. ¹² For each one cast down his rod, and they became dragons; but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

¹ ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, ² Speak unto the sons of Israel that they turn and set up their camp before Pihahiroth between Migdol and the sea over against Baalzephon; before it shall ye set up camp by the sea. ³ For Pharaoh will say of the sons of Israel, They are entangled in the land; the wilderness has shut them in. ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart that he shall follow after them; and I will be glorified in Pharaoh and in all his host; and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD. And they did so. ⁵ And it was told the king of Egypt how the people fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his slaves was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? ⁶ And he made ready his chariot and took his people with him; ⁷ and he took six hundred chosen chariots and all the chariots of Egypt and the captains over them. ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and he pursued after the sons of Israel, but the sons of Israel had already left with great power. ⁹ The Egyptians, nevertheless, pursued after them with all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and all his army, and overtook them setting up camp by the sea beside Pihahiroth before Baalzephon. ¹⁰ ¶ And when Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they feared greatly, and the sons of Israel cried out unto the LORD. ¹¹ And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why hast thou dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt? ¹² Is this not what we told thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness. ¹³ And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still and see the saving health of the LORD, which he will bestow on you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall never see them again for ever. ¹⁴ The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall be still. ¹⁵ ¶ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Why criest thou unto me? Speak unto the sons of Israel that they go forward: ¹⁶ And lift up thy rod and stretch out thy hand over the sea and divide it; and the sons of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. ¹⁷ And behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians that they shall follow them: and I will be glorified in Pharaoh and in all his host, in his chariots, and in his horsemen. ¹⁸ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have glorified myself in Pharaoh, in his chariots, and in his horsemen. ¹⁹ And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and likewise the pillar of cloud went from before their face and stood behind them. ²⁰ And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it lit up the night unto Israel; and all that night the one side never came near the other. ²¹ ¶ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ²² Then the sons of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left. ²³ And the Egyptians pursued and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. ²⁴ And it came to pass that in the morning watch the LORD looked at the camp of the Egyptians in the pillar of fire and of cloud and troubled the camp of the Egyptians ²⁵ and took off their chariot wheels and overturned them grievously, so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians. ²⁶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the sea that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. ²⁷ And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned in its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. ²⁸ And the waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. ²⁹ But the sons of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left. ³⁰ Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. ³¹ And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did against the Egyptians; and the people feared the LORD and believed the LORD and his slave Moses.

³⁰ The LORD your God who goes before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did with you in Egypt before your eyes;

²¹ ¶ And I also commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done unto these two kings, so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms where thou passest.

³ Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor; for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God has destroyed them from among you.

³⁴ Or has God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs and by wonders and by war and by a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

¹⁹ of the great trials which thine eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm, by which the LORD thy God brought thee out; so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the peoples of whose presence thou art afraid.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges in the earth.

⁸ Surely with thine eyes thou shalt behold and see the reward of the wicked.

⁹ sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his slaves.

⁵ And when the LORD shall have brought thee into the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, which he swore unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt do this service in this month.

⁸ Behold, I have given the land in your presence; go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that he would give unto them and to their seed after them.

³⁵ Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land, which I swore to give unto your fathers,

¹⁰ And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it unto thee: great and goodly cities, which thou didst not build,

¹⁸ And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD that it may be well with thee and that thou may enter in and inherit the good land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers

⁴ But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive, every one of you this day.

¹ ¶ Take care to do all the commandments which I command thee this day that ye may live and be multiplied and enter in and inherit the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.

³ And he afflicted thee and caused thee to hunger and sustained thee with manna, food of which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD shall man live.

⁷ If thou art righteous, what shalt thou give him? Or what shall he receive of thine hand? ⁸ Thy wickedness shall hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness shall profit the son of man.

² The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth, and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

⁹ It is he who placed our soul into life and did not suffer our feet to slip.

¹² If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself; but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

⁴ ¶ Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD.

³⁹ and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me for ever for the good of them and of their sons after them:

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

²¹ What fruit had ye then in those things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. ²² But now freed from sin and made slaves to God, ye have as your fruit sanctification and as the end, everlasting life.

⁵ For Moses describes the righteousness which is by the law, That the man who does those things shall live by them.

⁵ Therefore you shall keep my rights and my statutes, of which the man doing them, shall live in them. I am the LORD.

¹³ Without fail thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goes down that he may sleep in his own clothing and bless thee, and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.

³⁰ Then Phinehas stood up and executed judgment, and so the plague was stayed. ³¹ And that was counted unto him for righteousness from generation to generation for evermore.

⁶ Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have insight unto all thy commandments.

²⁸ ¶ In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

¹¹ and I gave them my statutes and declared unto them my rights, by which the man that does them shall live by them.

²⁸ And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right; do this, and thou shalt live. ²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

³ For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

⁵ For Moses describes the righteousness which is by the law, That the man who does those things shall live by them. ⁶ But thus saith the righteousness which is by faith, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven (that is, to bring the Christ down from above)?

¹² And the law is not of faith, but The man that does the commandments shall live by them.

¹⁰ For whosoever shall have kept the whole law, and then offends in one point is made guilty of all.
