² And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners and eats with them.

¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why does your Master eat with publicans and sinners?

³⁰ But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

³⁴ The Son of man is come eating and drinking, and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him, for she is a sinner.

²⁹ And he, answering, said to his father, Behold, these many years I have served thee, neither at any time have I transgressed thy commandment; and yet thou never gavest me a kid that I might make merry with my friends. ³⁰ But as soon as this thy son was come who has devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed the fatted calf for him.

⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

³ saying, Why didst thou go in to men uncircumcised and eat with them?

⁹ ¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to associate with fornicators, ¹⁰ yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then ye would need to go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

¹² For before certain ones came from James, he ate with the Gentiles, but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
