²¹ ¶ But with all this, behold, the hand of him that betrays me is with me on the table.

¹⁹ All my intimate friends abhorred me; and those whom I loved are turned against me.

⁹ Even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

⁵ Do not believe in a friend, do not trust in a prince; from her that lies at thy side, take care, open not thy mouth. ⁶ For the son dishonours the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies are those of his own house.

²¹ And as they ate, he said, Verily I say unto you that one of you shall betray me. ²² And they were exceeding sorrowful and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I? ²³ And he answered and said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It had been good for that man if he had not been born.

¹⁸ And when they sat at the table and ate, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you who eats with me shall betray me. ¹⁹ And they began to be sorrowful and to say unto him one by one, shall it be I? and another said, shall it be I? ²⁰ And he, answering, said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dips with me in the dish. ²¹ The Son of man indeed goes, as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

¹⁸ ¶ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me, ¹⁹ now I tell you before it is done, so that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I AM.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. ²² Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.

²⁶ Jesus answered, He it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
