⁴² saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

¹⁷ ¶ Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling and wrung them out.

²² Thus has thy Lord said, I AM thy God who pleads the cause of his people; Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:

¹⁵ ¶ For thus hath the LORD God of Israel said unto me: Take the wine cup of this fury from my hand and cause all the Gentiles, to whom I send thee, to drink of it.

²² But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

³⁹ And he went a little further and fell on his face, praying and saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

⁴² He went away again the second time and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, thy will be done.

⁴⁴ And leaving them, he went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me; nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

¹⁷ And taking the cup, having given thanks, he said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves, ¹⁸ for I say unto you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God shall come. ¹⁹ And taking bread, having given thanks, he broke it and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. ²⁰ Likewise also he took and gave them the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.

³⁰ I can of my own self do nothing; as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who has sent me.

³⁸ For I came down from the heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

²⁷ ¶ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour, but for this have I come in this hour. ²⁸ Father, clarify thy name. Then there came a voice from the heaven, saying, I have clarified it and will clarify it again.

¹¹ Then Jesus said unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath; the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?

⁷ ¶ Then said I, Behold, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou dost not desire, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law; ⁹ then he said, Behold, I come to do thy will, O God. He took away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ In this will, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus, the Christ, once for all.
