¹ ¶ When he was come down from the mountain, many people followed him. ² And, behold, a leper came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou art willing, thou art able to cleanse me. ³ And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. ⁴ Then Jesus said unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. ⁵ ¶ And when Jesus was entering into Capernaum, a centurion came unto him, beseeching him, ⁶ and saying, Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed, grievously tormented. ⁷ And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him. ⁸ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou should come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. ⁹ For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it. ¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he marvelled and said to those that followed, Verily I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such faith. ¹¹ But I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west and shall sit down at the table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens. ¹² But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ¹³ Then Jesus said unto the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in that same hour. ¹⁴ ¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying in bed and with fever. ¹⁵ And he touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she arose and ministered unto them. ¹⁶ When evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils, and he cast out the spirits with the word and healed all that were sick ¹⁷ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. ¹⁸ ¶ Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he commanded that they depart unto the other side. ¹⁹ And a certain scribe came and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee wherever thou goest. ²⁰ And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head. ²¹ And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. ²² But Jesus said unto him, Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead. ²³ ¶ And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. ²⁴ And, behold, there arose a great moving in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves; but he was asleep. ²⁵ And his disciples came to him and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us; we perish. ²⁶ And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, awake, he rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. ²⁷ But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him! ²⁸ ¶ And when he was come to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. ²⁹ And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come here to torment us before the time? ³⁰ And there was a good way off from them a herd of many swine feeding. ³¹ So the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. ³² And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine; and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea and perished in the waters. ³³ And those that fed them fled and went into the city and told everything and what was befallen to the ones possessed of the demons. ³⁴ And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their borders.

²⁵ And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, from Decapolis, from Jerusalem, from Judaea and from beyond Jordan.

¹⁸ ¶ Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he commanded that they depart unto the other side.

¹⁵ But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from there; and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

³⁰ And many people came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many other sick and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them,

² and a great multitude followed him, and he healed them there.

²⁹ ¶ And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

⁷ But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea

¹⁵ But so much the more his fame went forth, and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

²⁵ ¶ And great multitudes went with him, and he turned and said unto them, ²⁶ If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brethren and sisters, and even his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And whosoever does not bear his cross {Gr. stauros – stake} and come after me cannot be my disciple.

⁴⁴ he is a leprous man, he is unclean; the priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; his plague is in his head. ⁴⁵ And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent and his head uncovered, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. ⁴⁶ All the days in which the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he shall be unclean; he shall dwell alone; outside the camp shall his habitation be.

² Command the sons of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper and every one that has an issue and anyone who is defiled by the dead. ³ Both male and female shall ye put out; ye shall put them outside the camp; that they not defile the camp of those among whom I dwell.

¹⁰ ¶ And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle, and, behold, Miriam was leprous as the snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

⁸ Keep yourselves from the plague of leprosy that thou observe diligently and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you; as I commanded them, so ye shall take care to do. ⁹ Remember what the LORD thy God did unto Miriam by the way after ye were come forth out of Egypt.

³⁹ And I am this day a tender anointed king, and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me; the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

¹ ¶ Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master and in high esteem because by him the LORD had given salvation unto Syria; he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper.

²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

³ ¶ And there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate, who said one to another, Why shall we stay here until we die? ⁴ If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we stay here, we shall die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians; if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

⁵ And the LORD smote the king so that he was a leper unto the day of his death and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham, the king’s son, was over the house, judging the people of the land.

¹⁹ Then Uzziah was angry and had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and in this his anger with the priests, the leprosy rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, next to the altar of incense. ²⁰ And Azariah, the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there, and he also hastened to go out because the LORD had smitten him. ²¹ And Uzziah, the king, was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham, his son, was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.

¹¹ And entering into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother; and falling down, they worshipped him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.

⁹ and said unto him, All these things I will give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

¹⁸ ¶ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

²⁸ And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. ²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

⁸ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons; freely ye have received, freely give.

⁵⁸ And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

³³ Then those that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.

²⁵ Then she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

²⁶ The slave therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

²⁰ ¶ Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, worshipping him and desiring a certain thing of him.

⁶ ¶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

⁹ And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, Receive joy. And they came and held him by the feet and worshipped him.

¹⁷ And when they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.

⁴⁰ ¶ And a leper came to him, beseeching him and kneeling down to him and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. ⁴¹ And Jesus, having mercy on him, put forth his hand and touched him and said unto him, I will; be thou clean. ⁴² And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was clean. ⁴³ And he straitly charged him and forthwith sent him away ⁴⁴ and said unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. ⁴⁵ But he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.

⁶ But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him. ⁷ Crying out with a loud voice, he said, What hast thou with me, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

²² And ofttimes it has cast him into the fire and into the waters to kill him, but if thou canst do any thing, help us, having mercy on us. ²³ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe this, all things are possible to him that believes. ²⁴ And straightway the father of the child crying out with tears, said, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief.

²⁷ And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.

¹² ¶ And it came to pass when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy who, seeing Jesus, fell on his face and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. ¹³ And he put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. ¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no one. But go and show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

¹² And as he entered into a certain village, ten men that were lepers met him, who stood afar off ¹³ and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. ¹⁴ When he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed. ¹⁵ Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God ¹⁶ and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? ¹⁸ Were there not found any returning to give glory to God, except this stranger? ¹⁹ And he said unto him, Arise, go; thy faith has saved thee.

³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him.

²⁵ for the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed in you.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant and with thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus; worship God; for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁸ And I, John, saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ⁹ Then he said unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowslave and with thy brethren the prophets and with those who keep the words of this book: worship God.

³ ¶ And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

¹¹ But Naaman went away angry and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD, his God, and strike his hand over the place and remove the leprosy.

¹⁴ Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

⁹ For he spoke, and it was done; he commanded, and it came into being.

⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and tell John those things which you hear and see: ⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁴¹ And Jesus, having mercy on him, put forth his hand and touched him and said unto him, I will; be thou clean.

³⁹ And as he arose, he rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

⁴¹ And taking the damsel by the hand, he said unto her, Talitha cumi, which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

³⁴ and looking up to heaven, he cried out, and said, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened.

²⁵ When Jesus saw that the multitude concurred, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him and enter no more into him.

¹³ And he put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

¹⁴ And he came and touched the bier, and those that bore him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

¹⁴ When he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed. ¹⁵ Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God

²¹ For as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life; even so the Son gives life unto whom he will.

⁴³ And having said these things, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

²⁴ If I had not done among them works which no other man has done, they would not have sin; but now they have seen them and hate both me and my Father.

² When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it is in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought unto Aaron, the priest, or unto one of his sons, the priests, ³ and the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh, and if the hair in the plague is turned white and the plague looks deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy; and the priest shall recognize him and pronounce him unclean. ⁴ If the bright spot is white in the skin of his flesh and looks to be not deeper than the skin and the hair thereof is not turned white; then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague seven days; ⁵ and the priest shall look on him the seventh day and see if the plague in his sight is stayed and the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall shut him up seven days the second time. ⁶ After this the priest shall look on him again the seventh day and see if the plague has darkened and that the plague is not spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is but a scab, and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ⁷ But if the scab spreads much abroad in the skin after he has been shown unto the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen of the priest again; ⁸ and if the priest recognizes that the scab has spread in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is leprosy. ⁹ When the plague of leprosy is in a man, then he shall be brought unto the priest; ¹⁰ and the priest shall see him; and if the rising looks white in the skin and it has turned the hair white and there is quick raw flesh in the rising, ¹¹ it is an old leprosy in the skin of his flesh, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean and shall not shut him up, for he is unclean. ¹² But if the leprosy breaks out abroad in the skin and the leprosy covers all the skin of him that has the plague from his head even to his feet wherever the priest looks, ¹³ then the priest shall consider; and if the leprosy has covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean; it is all turned white; he is clean. ¹⁴ But the day that raw flesh appears in him, he shall be unclean. ¹⁵ And the priest shall see the raw flesh and pronounce him to be unclean, for the raw flesh is unclean: it is leprosy. ¹⁶ But when the raw flesh turns again and is changed unto white, he shall come unto the priest; ¹⁷ and the priest shall see him; and if the plague is turned white; then the priest shall pronounce the one that has the plague clean, and he shall be clean. ¹⁸ ¶ And when in the flesh, in the skin thereof, there was a boil and is healed, ¹⁹ and in the place of the boil there is a white rising or a bright spot, white, and somewhat reddish, it shall be shown to the priest; ²⁰ and the priest shall look, and if it appears to be lower than the skin and the hair thereof is turned white; the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a plague of leprosy broken out of the boil. ²¹ But if the priest considers it and there appear to be no white hairs in it and it is not lower than the skin, but somewhat dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²² and if it spreads much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it is a plague. ²³ But if the bright spot stays in its place and does not spread, it is the scab of a boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ²⁴ Likewise when the flesh has in its skin a burn from fire, and in the place healed from the burn there a white bright spot, somewhat reddish, or white, ²⁵ then the priest shall look upon it; and if the hair in the bright spot is turned white and it looks deeper than the skin, it is a leprosy broken out of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁶ But if the priest looks on it and there is no white hair in the bright spot and it is no lower than the other skin, but dark, then the priest shall shut him up seven days; ²⁷ and the priest shall recognize it the seventh day; and if it is spread much abroad in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is the plague of leprosy. ²⁸ And if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread in the skin, but it is dark, it is a rising of the burn; and the priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is an inflammation of the burn. ²⁹ If a man or woman has a plague upon the head or the beard, ³⁰ then the priest shall see the plague; and if it looks deeper than the skin and the hair in it is yellowish and thin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a dry scall, leprosy of the head or beard. ³¹ But when the priest looks on the plague of the scall and if it does not look deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, then the priest shall shut up the one that has the plague of the scall seven days; ³² and in the seventh day the priest shall look on the plague; and if the scall appears not to have spread and there is no yellowish hair in it and the scall appears not to be deeper than the skin, ³³ he shall be shaven, but the place of the scall he shall not shave; and the priest shall shut up the one that has the scall for seven days the second time. ³⁴ And in the seventh day the priest shall look on the scall; and if the scall is not spread in the skin nor in appearance deeper than the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him clean; and he shall wash his clothes and be clean. ³⁵ But if the scall spreads much in the skin after his cleansing, ³⁶ then the priest shall look at it; and if the scall is spread in the skin, the priest shall not seek for yellowish hair; he is unclean. ³⁷ But if the scall appears to him to be stayed and there is black hair grown up in it, the scall is healed; he is clean; and the priest shall pronounce him clean. ³⁸ ¶ Likewise if a man or a woman has in the skin of their flesh bright spots, even white bright spots, ³⁹ the priest shall look; and if the bright spots in the skin of their flesh are darkish white, it is a freckled spot that grew in the skin; the person is clean. ⁴⁰ And the man whose hair has fallen off his head is bald; yet he is clean. ⁴¹ And if his hair has fallen off from the part of his head toward his face, he is forehead bald; yet is he clean. ⁴² But if in the bald head, or bald forehead, there is a white reddish sore, it is a leprosy sprung up in his bald head, or his bald forehead. ⁴³ Then the priest shall look upon it; and if the rising of the sore is white reddish in his bald head, or in his bald forehead, as the appearance of leprosy in the skin of the flesh,

² This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest. ³ And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look and seeing that the plague of leprosy is healed in the leper, ⁴ the priest shall command to take for the one that is to be purified two birds, alive and clean, and cedar wood and scarlet and hyssop; ⁵ and the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel upon living water; ⁶ then he shall take the living bird and the cedar wood, and the scarlet and the hyssop and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the living water; ⁷ and he shall sprinkle upon the one that is to be purified from the leprosy seven times and shall pronounce him clean and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. ⁸ And he that is to be purified shall wash his clothes and shave off all his hair and wash himself with water, and he shall be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp and shall dwell outside of his tent seven days. ⁹ But it shall be that on the seventh day he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows; finally he shall shave off all his hair, and he shall wash his clothes; also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean. ¹⁰ ¶ And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish and three tenth deals of fine flour for a present, mingled with oil, and one log of oil. ¹¹ And the priest that purifies him shall present the one that is to be made clean with those things, before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony; ¹² and the priest shall take one he lamb and offer him for expiation of the guilt, with the log of oil, and wave them for a waved offering before the LORD. ¹³ And he shall slay the lamb in the place where they kill the sin and the burnt offering, in the place of the sanctuary, for that offered as sin is the priest’s, together with that offered as guilt; it is most holy. ¹⁴ And the priest shall take some of the blood of the expiation for the guilt, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. ¹⁵ Likewise the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand; ¹⁶ and the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD. ¹⁷ And of that which is left of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the expiation for the guilt; ¹⁸ and that which is left of the oil that is in the priest’s hand, he shall pour upon the head of the one that is to be purified; and thus shall the priest reconcile him before the LORD. ¹⁹ And the priest shall offer the sin and reconcile the one that is to be purified from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering. ²⁰ And the priest shall cause the burnt offering and the present to be lifted upon the altar, and thus shall the priest reconcile him, and he shall be clean. ²¹ ¶ But if he is poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for expiation of the guilt to be waved, to reconcile himself, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a present, and a log of oil; ²² and two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be as the sin, and the other as a burnt offering. ²³ And he shall bring these things on the eighth day of his purification unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, before the LORD. ²⁴ And the priest shall take the lamb of the expiation of the guilt, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a waved offering before the LORD; ²⁵ then he shall kill the lamb of the expiation of the guilt, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the expiation of the guilt and put it upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. ²⁶ And the priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own left hand, ²⁷ and the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD. ²⁸ The priest shall also put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of the one that is to be purified and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot in the place of the blood of the expiation for the guilt. ²⁹ And what is left of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall put upon the head of the one that is to be purified, to reconcile him before the LORD. ³⁰ Likewise he shall offer one of the turtledoves or of the young pigeons, such as he can get, ³¹ one of such as he is able to get as sin, and the other for a burnt offering, with the present; and thus shall the priest reconcile the one that is to be purified before the LORD. ³² This is the law of the one who has had the plague of leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which is prescribed for his purification.

⁷ And when the king of Israel read the letter, he rent his clothes and said, Am I God, to kill and to give life, that this man sends unto me to remove the leprosy of this man? Therefore now consider and see how he seeks a quarrel against me. ⁸ And when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, he sent to the king, saying, Why hast thou rent thy clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

²¹ The LORD, jealous for his righteousness, will magnify the law and enlarge it.

¹⁵ And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now, for thus it is expedient for us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

¹⁷ ¶ Think not that I am come to undo the law or the prophets; I am not come to undo, but to fulfil.

¹ ¶ Take heed not to do your alms {lit. acts of mercy} before men, to be seen of them; otherwise, ye have no reward of your Father who is in the heavens.

³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no one knows it.

¹⁸ and ye shall even be brought before princes and kings for my sake, for testimony unto them and to the Gentiles.

¹⁶ and strictly charged them that they should not make him known; ¹⁷ so that it which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, who said, ¹⁸ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased; I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall declare judgment unto the Gentiles. ¹⁹ He shall not strive nor cry, neither shall anyone hear his voice in the streets.

²⁰ Then he charged his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead.

⁴³ And he straitly charged him and forthwith sent him away ⁴⁴ and said unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

⁴³ And he charged them straitly that no one should know it and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

¹¹ And whosoever shall not receive you nor hear you, when ye depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet in testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment than for that city.

³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no one; but the more he commanded them, so much more and more they published it

³⁰ And he commanded them that they should tell no one of this regarding him.

⁹ But take heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up in the councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten; and ye shall be called before rulers and kings for my sake for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no one. But go and show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ When he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that as they went, they were cleansed.

¹³ And it shall turn out to you for a testimony.

⁴¹ I do not receive glory from men.

¹⁸ He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory, but he that seeks the glory of him that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

⁵⁰ And I seek not my own glory; there is one that seeks it and judges.

³⁷ If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me. ³⁸ But if I do, though ye do not believe me, believe the works that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me and I in him.

¹³ and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali,

¹ ¶ And he entered into a ship and passed over and came into his own city.

²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to Hades, for if the mighty works which have been done in thee had been done in those of Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

⁵⁴ Now when the centurion and those that were with him, guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was God’s Son.

¹ ¶ And again he entered into Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that he was in the house.

³⁹ And when the centurion, who stood in front of him, saw that he so cried out and expired, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

¹ ¶ Now when he had ended all his words in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. ² And a certain centurion’s slave, who was dear unto him, was sick and ready to die. ³ And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and free his slave. ⁴ And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he is worthy that this should be done for him, ⁵ for he loves our nation and he has built us a synagogue. ⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou should enter under my roof; ⁷ therefore neither did I think myself worthy to come unto thee but say the word, and my slave shall be healed. ⁸ For I also am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it. ⁹ When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him and turned about and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such great faith. ¹⁰ And those that had been sent, returning to the house, found the slave that had been sick whole.

¹ ¶ There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the company called the Italian, ² a devout man and one that feared God with all his house, who gave many alms to the people and prayed to God always. ³ He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him and saying unto him, Cornelius. ⁴ And when he looked on him, he was afraid and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms {lit. thine acts of mercy} are come up for a memorial before God. ⁵ And now send men to Joppa and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter; ⁶ he lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side; he shall tell thee what it behooves thee to do. ⁷ And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those that waited on him continually; ⁸ and when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. ⁹ ¶ On the morrow, as they went on their journey and drew near unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour; ¹⁰ and he became very hungry and would have eaten; but while they made ready, he fell into a rapture of understanding ¹¹ and saw the heaven opened and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners and let down to the earth, ¹² in which were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and reptiles and fowls of the air. ¹³ And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter, kill and eat. ¹⁴ But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. ¹⁵ And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, That which God has cleansed, do not call common. ¹⁶ This was done three times, and the vessel was received up again into heaven. ¹⁷ Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house and stood before the gate ¹⁸ and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. ¹⁹ ¶ While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. ²⁰ Arise therefore and get thee down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them. ²¹ Then Peter went down to the men who were sent unto him from Cornelius and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek; what is the cause for which ye are come? ²² And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man and one that fears God and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee. ²³ Then he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him. ²⁴ And the next day they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them and had called together his kinsmen and near friends. ²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. ²⁷ And as he talked with him, he went in and found many that were come together. ²⁸ And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an abominable thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company or come unto one of another nation; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. ²⁹ Therefore I came unto you without doubting, as soon as I was sent for; I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? ³⁰ And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing ³¹ and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. ³² Send therefore to Joppa, and call here Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side, who, when he comes, shall speak unto thee. ³³ Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and thou hast done well to come. Now therefore we are all here present before God to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

²⁵ And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman and uncondemned?

¹⁷ Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him and said, Bring this young man unto the tribunal, for he has a certain thing to tell him.

²³ And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea and seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen, at the third hour of the night

¹³ And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, raising sails, they sailed close by Crete.

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

⁴³ But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, frustrated this counsel and commanded that those who could swim should cast themselves first into the sea and get to land;

¹³ If I had despised the right of my manslave or of my maidslave, when they contended with me; ¹⁴ what then would I do when God rises up? And when he visits, what would I answer him?

²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those who were possessed with devils and those who were lunatic and those that were paralyzed; and he healed them.

² And, behold, they brought him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the paralyzed man, Trust, son; thy sins are forgiven thee.

³ And they came unto him, bringing a paralytic, carried by four men. ⁴ And when they could not come near unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof of the house where he was; and when they had broken it open, they let down the bed in which the paralytic lay. ⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee. ⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts, ⁷ Why does this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins but God only? ⁸ And Jesus, knowing afterward in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said unto them, Why think ye these things in your hearts? ⁹ What is easier to say to the paralytic, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and take up thy bed and walk? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (he spoke to the sick of the palsy), ¹¹ I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy bed and go to thy house. ¹² And by and by he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like unto this.

⁷ For many unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of those who were possessed with them, and many paralytics and that were lame were healed.

³³ And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been in bed eight years, for he was a paralytic.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those that waited on him continually;

¹¹ where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian nor Scythian, slave nor free: but Christ is all and in all.

¹ ¶ Masters, do that which is just and right with your slaves, knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.

² And those that have faithful masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren, but rather serve them better, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. Teach and exhort this.

¹⁶ not now as a slave, but above a slave, a brother beloved, especially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord.

¹⁸ ¶ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. ¹⁹ And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples.

²³ and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death; come and lay thy hands on her that she may be saved, and she shall live. ²⁴ And Jesus went with him; and a great multitude followed him and thronged him.

⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou should enter under my roof;

¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which thou hast showed unto thy slave; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan and now I am become two bands.

⁸ Take the rod and gather the congregation together, thou and Aaron, thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, and it shall give forth its water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

¹⁷ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart; thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

²⁰ He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their graves.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water unto repentance, but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear; he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,

¹⁴ But John resisted him much, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

³ And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

²⁶ But he answered and said, It is not good to take the children’s bread and to cast it to the little dogs. ²⁷ And she said, Yes, Lord, yet the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

²⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. ²⁶ And the unclean spirit tore him and cried with a loud voice and came out of him. ²⁷ And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? for he commands the unclean spirits with power, and they obey him.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down on his knees before Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.

⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou should enter under my roof; ⁷ therefore neither did I think myself worthy to come unto thee but say the word, and my slave shall be healed.

¹⁹ and am no longer worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hired servants.

²¹ And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight and am no longer worthy to be called thy son.

²⁷ he it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

⁶ Then he came to Simon Peter, and Peter said unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou dost not understand now, but thou shalt understand afterwards. ⁸ Peter said unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me.

³⁴ Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? ³⁵ Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

²⁵ For he commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves. ²⁶ They mount up to the heavens; they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble. ²⁷ They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man, and all of their knowledge is of no avail. ²⁸ Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivers them out of their afflictions. ²⁹ He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

⁹¹ They persevere unto this day by thy ordinance; for they are all thy slaves.

⁸ fire and hail; snow and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word,

⁶ O thou sword of the LORD, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still. ⁷ How can it be quiet, seeing the LORD has given it a charge against Ashkelon and against the sea shore? there has he appointed it.

¹⁷ Or if I bring a sword upon the land and say: Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast out of her; ¹⁸ though these three men were in the midst of her, as I live, said the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither their sons nor their daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves. ¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out my fury upon her in blood to cut off out of her man and beast ²⁰ though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in the midst of her, as I live, said the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. ²¹ Therefore thus hath the Lord GOD said: How much more if I send my four sore judgments against Jerusalem: the sword, the famine, the evil beast, the pestilence, to cut off out of her man and beast?

³⁹ And as he arose, he rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. ⁴⁰ And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith? ⁴¹ And they feared exceedingly and said one to another, Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent and come out of him. And the demon, throwing him down in the midst, came out of him and hurt him not. ³⁶ And they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, What word is this! For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.

³⁹ And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

⁸ For I also am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.

⁵ Slaves, be obedient to those that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as unto the Christ, ⁶ not to be seen as only pleasing men, but as the slaves of the Christ, doing the will of God from within,

²² Slaves, in all things hearken unto your masters according to the flesh, not serving to be seen as those who only please men, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God;

⁹ Exhort slaves to be subject to their own masters and to please them well in all things; not contradicting;

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou desire. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

⁶ And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went through the villages round about, teaching.

²⁰ And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

⁹ When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him and turned about and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such great faith.

⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Thy faith has saved thee; go in peace.

³ And I will bless those that bless thee and curse those that curse thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

¹⁸ and in thy seed shall all the Gentiles of the earth be blessed because thou hast hearkened unto my voice.

¹⁴ and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt multiply to the west and to the east and to the Aquilon and to the Negev; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

¹⁰ The sceptre shall not be taken from Judah, nor the lawgiver from between his feet until Shiloh comes; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the families of the Gentiles shall worship before thee.

³ He has remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the saving health of our God.

² And it shall come to pass in the last of the days or times, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be confirmed as the head of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills; and all the Gentiles shall flow unto it. ³ And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁰ ¶ And it shall be in that day that the Root of Jesse, who shall be lifted up as a banner, as an example to the Gentiles shall be sought by the Gentiles; and his Kingdom of peace shall be glorious.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

¹² Behold, these shall come from far; and, behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

¹⁰ The LORD has made bare the arm of his holiness before the eyes of all the Gentiles; and all the ends of the earth shall see the saving health of our God.

¹⁹ So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he shall come like a violent river impelled by the breath {Spirit} of the LORD.

¹ ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall walk to thy light, and the kings to the brightness of thy birth. ⁴ Lift up thine eyes round about and see: they all gather themselves together; they come to thee; thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. ⁵ Then thou shall see, and thou shall shine, and thine heart shall marvel, and be enlarged because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the strength of the Gentiles shall have come unto thee. ⁶ The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall show forth the praises of the LORD.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the time of the affliction; Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit.

⁴⁴ And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall raise up a kingdom which eternally shall never become corrupted, and this kingdom shall not be left to another people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

¹ ¶ But it shall come to pass in the last of the times that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the top of the mountains and higher than all the hills, and peoples shall flow unto it. ² And many Gentiles shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth from Zion and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

²⁰ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, It shall yet come to pass that there shall come people and the inhabitants of many cities ²¹ and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go to pray before the LORD and to seek the LORD of the hosts. And the other will respond: I will go also. ²² And many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of the hosts in Jerusalem and to pray before the LORD. ²³ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, In those days it shall come to pass that ten men of all the languages of the Gentiles shall take hold of the robe of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.

¹¹ For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a clean offering; for my name is great among the Gentiles, said the LORD of the hosts.

² and saying, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

³¹ And he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

³⁷ Blessed are those slaves, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching; verily I say unto you that he shall gird himself and make them to sit down to food and will come forth and serve them.

²⁸ In that place shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. ²⁹ And others shall come from the east and from the west and from the north and from the south and shall sit at the table in the kingdom of God.

²³ And the lord said unto the slave, Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in that my house may be filled. ²⁴ For I say unto you, That none of those men which were called shall taste of my supper.

²² And it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom; the rich man also died and was buried;

⁴⁵ And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that also on the Gentiles the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they were silent and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.

²² confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to remain in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁷ And when they were come and had gathered the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} together, they related what great things God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

⁹ but that the Gentiles glorify God by mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess thee among the Gentiles and sing unto thy name. ¹⁰ And again he says, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and magnify him, all the peoples. ¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall wait for salvation. ¹³ ¶ And believing, the God of hope fills you with all joy and peace that ye may abound in hope by the virtue of the Holy Spirit.

⁹ ¶ Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals

²⁰ ¶ But now Christ is risen from the dead and become the firstfruits of those that slept.

²⁸ Here there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. ²⁹ And if ye are Christ’s, then ye are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

¹¹ ¶ Therefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who were called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh, which is made by hands, ¹² that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world, ¹³ but now in Christ Jesus ye who at another time were far off are made near by the blood of the Christ. ¹⁴ ¶ For he is our peace, who of both has made one, breaking down the middle wall of separation,

⁶ that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of his promise in the Christ by the gospel,

⁵ ¶ in testimony of the just judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer,

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and call; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame and have sat down with my Father in his throne.

⁶ Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Naphtali were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.

⁹ and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as our father, for I say unto you that God is able to raise up children unto Abraham of these stones. ¹⁰ And now the axe is also laid unto the root of the trees; therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

³⁸ the field is the world; the good seed are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked;

⁴² and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁴³ Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a people bringing forth the fruits thereof.

¹² and he said unto him, Friend, how didst thou come in here not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. ¹³ Then the king said to the slaves, Bind him hand and foot and take him away and cast him into the darkness outside; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁵¹ and shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

³⁰ And cast ye the unprofitable slave into the outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²⁸ In that place shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

²⁵ Ye are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁴ who are Israelites, to whom pertains the adoption as sons and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the law and the service of God and the promises,

⁴ For if God did not forgive the angels that sinned, but cast them down into the deepest abyss {Gr. Tartarus} and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

¹⁷ These are wells without water, clouds that are brought by a whirlwind, to whom gross darkness is reserved for ever.

¹³ raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own abominations; erratic stars, to whom is reserved gross darkness eternally.

⁷ Go, eat thy bread with joy and drink thy wine with a joyful heart that thy works might be acceptable unto God.

⁴ Then Jesus said unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

²² But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Trust, daughter; thy faith has made thee free. And the woman was free from that hour.

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no one knows it.

²⁰ And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unfaithfulness; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

²⁹ And he said unto her, For this word go; the demon has gone out of thy daughter.

²³ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe this, all things are possible to him that believes.

⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus spoke unto him, and he went.

⁵² Then he enquired of them the hour when he began to get better. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. ⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son lives; and he believed, and his whole house.

²⁰ And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

²⁵ He said, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus spoke unto him first, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own sons or of strangers?

²⁹ ¶ And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. ³⁰ But Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick of a fever, and soon they told him of her. ³¹ And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up; and the fever left her by and by, and she ministered unto them. ³² In the evening, when the sun was down, they brought unto him all that were diseased and those that were possessed with devils. ³³ And all the city was gathered together at the door. ³⁴ And he healed many that were sick of diverse diseases and cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because they knew him.

³⁸ And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her. ³⁹ And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. ⁴⁰ Now when the sun was setting, all those who had anyone sick with diverse diseases brought them unto him, and laying his hands on each one of them, he healed them. ⁴¹ And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, Thou art the Christ, the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was the Christ.

⁵ Do we not have authority to bring with us a sister, a wife, as also the other apostles and as the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?

² It is expedient, therefore, that the bishop be blameless, the husband of only one wife, vigilant, temperate, of worldly affections mortified, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

³ they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth.

⁴ Let marriage be honourable in all and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

²¹ And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and when the dead man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

⁷ And he laid it upon my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched thy lips; and it shall take away thy guilt, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

²⁰ And, behold, a woman who was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment;

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

³⁶ and besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment, and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

³⁴ Then Jesus, having mercy on them, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

³⁸ And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her. ³⁹ And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

⁵⁴ And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise.

¹ ¶ Jesus, therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. ² There they made him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those that sat at the table with him. ³ Then Mary took a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

¹¹ And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul ¹² so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. ¹³ ¶ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon themselves to invoke over those who had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.

²⁶ and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God and wilt do that which is right in his sight and wilt give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD thy Healer.

²³ ¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every bodily weakness among the people. ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those who were possessed with devils and those who were lunatic and those that were paralyzed; and he healed them.

³³ And those that fed them fled and went into the city and told everything and what was befallen to the ones possessed of the demons.

²² ¶ Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind, and dumb, and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw.

¹⁴ And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

³ And they came unto him, bringing a paralytic, carried by four men.

⁸ For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

⁴⁰ Now when the sun was setting, all those who had anyone sick with diverse diseases brought them unto him, and laying his hands on each one of them, he healed them.

¹⁵ So much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

¹³ ¶ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon themselves to invoke over those who had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches. ¹⁴ (And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew and prince of the priests, who did so.) ¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with, but who are ye? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them and overcame them and prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down.

²² Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

¹⁵ and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

²³ and he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophets, that he shall be called a Nazarene. ²⁴ he himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose wound ye were healed.

¹ ¶ When he was come down from the mountain, many people followed him.

²² ¶ And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him unto the other side while he sent the multitude away.

³⁵ And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and prayed there. ³⁶ And Simon and those that were with him followed after him. ³⁷ And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. ³⁸ And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns that I may preach there also, for truly I came forth for that purpose.

³⁵ ¶ And that same day, when evening was come, he said unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

²¹ ¶ And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, a great multitude gathered unto him, and he was near the sea.

⁴⁵ ¶ And straightway he told his disciples to get quickly into the ship and to go to the other side before him unto Bethsaida while he dispatched the people.

¹³ And he left them and, entering into the ship again, departed to the other side.

⁴² And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place, and the people sought him and came unto him and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. ⁴³ And he said unto them, I must announce the gospel of the kingdom of God to other cities also because for this am I sent.

²² ¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

¹⁵ ¶ Jesus therefore knowing that they would come and take him by force to make him king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

⁶ This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a diligent scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

³² Then the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth, that God is one, and there is none other outside of him; ³³ and to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the soul and with all the strength and to love his neighbour as himself is more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices. ³⁴ Then Jesus, seeing that he responded wisely, said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that dared ask him any question.

⁵⁷ ¶ And it came to pass that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. ⁵⁸ And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has not where to lay his head. ⁵⁹ And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and declare the kingdom of God.

³³ So likewise, any one of you that does not forsake all that he has cannot be my disciple.

³³ And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison and to death. ³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, thou shalt deny three times that thou knowest me before the cock shall crow this day.

³⁶ ¶ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards. ³⁷ Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my soul for thy sake. ³⁸ Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy soul for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow until thou hast denied me three times.

²⁰ Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the philosopher of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

¹⁷ When I am poor and needy; the Lord will remember me; thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

²⁹ But I am poor and sorrowful; let thy saving health, O God, set me up on high.

³ Even the sparrow has found a house and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young upon thine altars, O LORD of the hosts, my King and my God.

¹⁷ that the birds may make their nests there: the stork makes her house among the fir trees.

²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

² With all this he shall grow up before him as a tender sprout and as a root out of a dry ground. There is no outward appearance in him, nor beauty. We shall see him, yet nothing attractive about him that we should desire him. ³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

¹³ I saw in the vision of the night, and, behold, in the clouds of heaven like a Son of man that came and drew near unto the Elder of great age, and they brought him near before him.

⁸ For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

³² And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him, but whosoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in the age to come.

⁴⁰ for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

¹³ ¶ When Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works.

²⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.

⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

¹² And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

¹⁶ And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger.

³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who ministered unto him of their substance.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be enriched.

¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father or for his mother; ¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God, for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the LORD.

⁶ All the days that they separate themselves unto the LORD they shall come in unto no dead body. ⁷ They shall not make themselves unclean for their father or for their mother, for their brother or for their sister, when they die because the consecration of their God is upon their head.

⁹ who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen them; neither did he acknowledge his brethren nor know his own children; therefore, they shall keep thy word and guard thy covenant. ¹⁰ They shall teach Jacob thy judgments and Israel thy law; they shall put incense before thy nostrils and a perfect sacrifice upon thine altar.

²⁰ So he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again, for what have I done to thee? ²¹ And he returned back from him and took a yoke of oxen and slew them and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen and gave unto the people and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and served him.

² Thus speaketh the LORD of the hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, the time to build the house of the LORD.

²⁹ And every one that has forsaken houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life.

⁵⁹ And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and declare the kingdom of God. ⁶¹ And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee, but let me first go bid farewell those who are at home at my house. ⁶² And Jesus said unto him, No one having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.

¹⁶ ¶ Therefore from now on we know no one according to the flesh: and even if we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him no longer.

¹⁸ ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. ¹⁹ And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets and followed him. ²¹ And going on from there, he saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed him.

⁹ ¶ And as Jesus passed forth from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

³² It was necessary that we should make merry and be glad, for this thy brother was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

⁴³ ¶ The day following Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee and found Philip and said unto him, Follow me.

¹ ¶ And he has made you alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

⁵ even as we were dead in sins, he has made us alive together with the Christ (by whose grace ye are saved)

¹⁴ Therefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

¹³ ¶ And you, being dead in sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

⁶ but she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.

³⁶ And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. ³⁷ And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. ³⁸ And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awoke him and said unto him, Master, dost thou not care that we perish?

²² Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go and tell John the things ye have seen and heard: how the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached;

²² ¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. ²³ But as they sailed, he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were being filled with water and were in jeopardy. ²⁴ And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm. ²⁵ And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they, being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, Who is this! for he even commands the winds and the water, and they obey him.

²³ ¶ Those that go down to the sea in ships that do work in many waters, ²⁴ these have seen the works of the LORD and his wonders in the deep. ²⁵ For he commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves. ²⁶ They mount up to the heavens; they go down again to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble. ²⁷ They reel to and fro and stagger like a drunken man, and all of their knowledge is of no avail.

¹¹ ¶ O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will cement thy stones upon carbuncle and lay thy foundations upon sapphires.

⁴ ¶ But the LORD caused a great wind to rise up in the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship thought she would be broken. ⁵ And the mariners were afraid, and everyone called unto his god, and they cast forth the vessels that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; he lay and was fast asleep.

³⁷ And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. ³⁸ And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awoke him and said unto him, Master, dost thou not care that we perish?

²³ But as they sailed, he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were being filled with water and were in jeopardy.

¹⁷ and entered into a ship and were crossing the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them. ¹⁸ And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. ⁶ When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

¹⁵ And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, in order that ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

¹⁴ But not long after, there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon. {devastating cold north wind from Europe} ¹⁵ And when the ship was caught up by it and could not resist against the wind, the ship was taken by the wind and drifted. ¹⁶ And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat, ¹⁷ Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into Syrtis, {or the sandbanks}, struck sail and so were driven. ¹⁸ And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship; ¹⁹ and the third day with our own hands we cast off the dead works of the ship. ²⁰ And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then lost. ²¹ ¶ Then after long abstinence, Paul stood forth in the midst of them and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me and not have loosed from Crete to have avoided this harm and loss. ²² And now I exhort you to be of good cheer, for there shall be no loss of any person’s life among you, but only of the ship. ²³ For the angel of God stood by me this night, whose I am and whom I serve, ²⁴ saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar; and, behold, God has given thee all those that sail with thee. ²⁵ Therefore, sirs, be of good cheer; for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. ²⁶ However we must be cast upon a certain island. ²⁷ And when the fourteenth night was come as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic sea, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country ²⁸ and sounded and found it twenty fathoms; and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again and found it fifteen fathoms. ²⁹ Then fearing lest we should fall upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern and wished for the day. ³⁰ And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship, ³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved. ³² Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat and let her fall off. ³³ And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take food, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have waited and continued fasting, having taken nothing. ³⁴ Therefore I pray you to take some food, for this is for your salvation and health, for there shall not one hair fall from the head of any of you. ³⁵ And when he had thus spoken, he took bread and gave thanks to God in presence of them all; and when he had broken it, he began to eat. ³⁶ Then they were all of good cheer, and they also took some food. ³⁷ And we were in all, in the ship, two hundred and seventy-six souls. ³⁸ And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship and cast out the grain into the sea.

²⁵ Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned; three times I suffered shipwreck, night and day I have been in the deep; ²⁶ in journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by those of my nation, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

¹¹ And Asa cried unto the LORD his God and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many or with those that have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; do not let man prevail against thee.

¹² O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us; we do not know what to do; but our eyes are fixed upon thee.

¹ ¶ Why dost thou stand afar off, O LORD? Why dost thou hide thyself in times of trouble?

²² Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. ²³ Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? Arise, do not cast us off for ever.

⁹ ¶ Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in ages past. Art thou not he who cut off the proud one, and he who smote the dragon? ¹⁰ Art thou not he who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; he who turned the depths of the sea into a way, that the redeemed might pass over?

⁶ So the shipmaster came to him and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that he will have compassion upon us that we not perish.

³⁸ And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awoke him and said unto him, Master, dost thou not care that we perish? ³⁹ And as he arose, he rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

²⁴ And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm.

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, ¹⁰ and established my decree upon it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, Thou shalt come unto here, but no further; and there shall the pride of thy waves be stayed.

⁷ He who stills the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves and the tumult of the Gentiles.

⁹ Thou dost rule the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou dost still them.

³ The rivers have lifted up, O LORD; the rivers have lifted up their voice; the rivers lift up their waves. ⁴ The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

⁶ Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. ⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. ⁸ The mountains were exposed; they descended through the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. ⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth.

²⁸ Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivers them out of their afflictions. ²⁹ He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. ³⁰ Then they are glad because they are at rest; so he brings them into the haven of his will.

³ The sea saw it and fled; Jordan was driven back. ⁴ The mountains skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs. ⁵ What came upon thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee? And thou O Jordan, that thou wast driven back? ⁶ Ye mountains, why didst ye skip like rams and ye little hills, like lambs? ⁷ At the presence of the Lord, the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth,

¹⁰ ¶ Do not fear for I am with thee; do not be dismayed, for I am thy God, who strengthens thee; I will help thee always; I will always uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. ¹¹ Behold, all those that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing; and those that strive with thee shall perish. ¹² Thou shalt seek them and shalt not find them, even those that contended with thee; those that war against thee shall be as nothing and as a thing of nought. ¹³ For I am the LORD thy God that holds thy right hand saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. ¹⁴ Fear not, thou worm Jacob, ye dead of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

² for I came, and no one showed himself; I called, and no one answered. Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink because there is no water and die for thirst. ³ I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering. ⁴ ¶ The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the wise that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary; he wakes up early, early shall he awaken my ear, that I might hear, as the wise.

¹² He that led them by the right hand of Moses with the arm of his glory, he who divided the water before them, thus making himself an everlasting name.

⁴ He reprehends the sea and makes it dry and dries up all the rivers; Bashan was destroyed, and Carmel; and the flower of Lebanon was destroyed.

⁸ Oh LORD, wast thou displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath even against the sea when thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of saving health?

³⁰ Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

²⁷ But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him!

³⁰ But seeing that the wind was strong, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me. ³¹ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand and caught him and said unto him, O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?

⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves that ye have brought no bread?

⁴⁸ And he saw them toiling in rowing, for the wind was contrary unto them; and about the fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. ⁴⁹ But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a ghost and cried out, ⁵⁰ For they all saw him and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them and said unto them, Be of good cheer; I AM; be not afraid. ⁵¹ And he went up unto them into the ship, and the wind ceased; and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure and wondered.

²⁰ he doubted not the promise of God, with unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

² And he had in his hand a little open book, and he set his right foot upon the sea and his left foot upon the land

³¹ insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see, and they glorified the God of Israel.

²⁷ And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? for he commands the unclean spirits with power, and they obey him.

⁵¹ And he went up unto them into the ship, and the wind ceased; and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure and wondered.

³⁷ and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He has done all things well: he makes both the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak.

¹⁶ and Jebusite and Amorite and Girgasite

²¹ and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite.

¹ ¶ When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land into which thou must enter to inherit it and has cast out many Gentiles before thee, the Hittite and the Girgashite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;

⁶ ¶ In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways ceased, and those that walked went astray through crooked paths.

¹ ¶ And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. ² And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him a man of the tombs, with an unclean spirit, ³ who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, no, not with chains, ⁴ because many times he had been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been broken in pieces by him, and the fetters shattered; neither could anyone tame him. ⁵ And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and hurting himself with stones. ⁶ But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him. ⁷ Crying out with a loud voice, he said, What hast thou with me, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. ⁸ For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. ⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion, for we are many. ¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send him away out of that country. ¹¹ Now near unto the mountains there was a great herd of swine feeding, ¹² and all those devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. ¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine, and the herd fell over a cliff into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea. ¹⁴ And those that fed the swine fled and told it in the city and in the country. And people went out to see what it was that had happened. ¹⁵ And they come to Jesus and see him that was tormented by the demon and had the legion sitting and clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. ¹⁶ And those that saw it told them what happened to him that had the demon and also concerning the swine. ¹⁷ And they began to plead with him to depart out of their borders. ¹⁸ And as he was entering into the ship, he that had been troubled by the demon besought him that he might be with him. ¹⁹ But Jesus suffered him not but said unto him, Go home to thy friends and family and tell them what great things the Lord has done with thee and how he has had mercy on thee. ²⁰ And he went and began to publish in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done with him, and everyone marveled.

²⁶ And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. ²⁷ And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, who had demons for a long time and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. ²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. ²⁹ (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters, and he broke the bands and was driven of the demon into the wilderness.) ³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion, because many demons were entered into him. ³¹ And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the abyss. ³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them. ³³ Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked. ³⁴ When those that fed them saw what was done, they fled and went and told it in the city and in the country. ³⁵ Then they went out to see what was done and came to Jesus and found the man, out of whom the demons were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind; and they were afraid. ³⁶ And those who saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the demons was saved. ³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them, for they were taken with great fear; and he went up into the ship and returned back again. ³⁸ Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, ³⁹ Return to thine own house and tell what great things God has done unto thee. And he went, preaching throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done unto him.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

¹² ¶ And Jephthah sent ambassadors unto the king of the sons of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me that thou art come against me to fight in my land?

¹⁰ And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? So let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so?

²² Then David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? Shall anyone be put to death today in Israel? Do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?

¹⁸ And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Art thou come unto me to call my iniquity to remembrance and to cause my son to die?

⁴ Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Philistia? will ye render me a recompense? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily I will return your recompense upon your own head;

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones be made into bread.

²⁴ saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

¹¹ And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him and cried out, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

⁷ Crying out with a loud voice, he said, What hast thou with me, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

³⁴ saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art: the Holy One of God.

⁴¹ And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, Thou art the Christ, the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was the Christ.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

⁴ Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? My hour is not yet come.

¹⁷ she followed Paul and us and cried out, saying, These men are the slaves of the most high God, who announce unto us the way of deliverance.

¹⁹ Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well; the demons also believe and tremble.

⁶ And the angels who did not keep their first estate but left their own habitation, he has reserved in eternal chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

⁷ And the swine though it divides the hoof and is clovenfooted, yet it chews not the cud: it is unclean to you.

⁸ and the swine, because it divides the hoof, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their dead carcase.

³ a people that provokes me to anger continually to my face; that sacrifices in gardens, and burns incense upon altars of brick; ⁴ who remain asleep among the graves, and lodge in the deserts, who eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

³ He that kills an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrifices a lamb as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offers an oblation as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burns incense as if he blessed iniquity. They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations.

¹¹ Now near unto the mountains there was a great herd of swine feeding,

³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them.

¹⁵ And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. ¹⁶ And he longed to fill his belly with the husks that the swine ate, but no one gave them unto him.

¹² and all those devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion, because many demons were entered into him. ³¹ And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the abyss. ³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them. ³³ Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked.

¹² ¶ Therefore, rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he has but a short time.

¹ ¶ And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. ² And he laid hold on the dragon, the serpent of old, which is the Devil and Satan and bound him a thousand years

²² And the LORD said unto him, In what manner? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also; go forth and do so.

¹⁰ Hast thou not made a hedge about him and about his house and about all that he has on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands; therefore, his substance has increased in the land. ¹¹ But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he has, and thou shalt see if he will not blaspheme thee to thy face. ¹² And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in thy power; only upon himself do not put forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. ¹³ ¶ And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn; ¹⁴ and a messenger came unto Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them; ¹⁵ and the Sabeans {Heb. those of Sheba} fell upon them and took them away; they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. ¹⁶ While he was yet speaking, another came who said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven and has burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. ¹⁷ While he was yet speaking, another came and said, The Chaldeans made three bands and fell upon the camels and have carried them away and have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell thee. ¹⁸ While he was yet speaking, there another came and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn; ¹⁹ and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell thee.

³ And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my slave Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and has departed from evil and that he still retains his perfection, although thou didst incite me against him to destroy him without cause. ⁴ And Satan answered the LORD and said, Skin for skin, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But put forth thy hand now and touch his bone and his flesh, and thou shalt see if he does not blaspheme thee to thy face. ⁶ And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand, but preserve his life. ⁷ ¶ So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head. ⁸ And he took a potsherd to scratch himself with, and he was sitting among the ashes.

¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out and entered into the swine, and the herd fell over a cliff into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea.

³³ Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked.

²³ him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain,

²⁸ to do that which thy hand and thy counsel had determined beforehand must be done.

⁷ And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison

And people went out to see what it was that had happened. ¹⁵ And they come to Jesus and see him that was tormented by the demon and had the legion sitting and clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. ¹⁶ And those that saw it told them what happened to him that had the demon and also concerning the swine.

¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with, but who are ye? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them and overcame them and prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

²⁵ Now, therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

⁴ And Samuel did as the LORD said and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming and said, Comest thou peaceably?

¹⁷ ¶ And it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubles Israel?

¹⁴ Therefore, they say unto God, Depart from us; for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways.

¹⁷ Who said unto God, Depart from us; and what can the Almighty do unto us?

²⁹ And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come here to torment us before the time?

¹⁷ And they began to plead with him to depart out of their borders. ¹⁸ And as he was entering into the ship, he that had been troubled by the demon besought him that he might be with him.

³⁹ And they came and besought them, and bringing them out, asked them to depart out of the city.
