¹ ¶ And he entered into a ship and passed over and came into his own city. ² And, behold, they brought him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the paralyzed man, Trust, son; thy sins are forgiven thee. ³ And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemes. ⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Why think ye evil in your hearts? ⁵ For what is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise, and walk? ⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (then said he to the paralyzed man), Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. ⁷ Then he arose and departed to his house. ⁸ And the multitude, seeing it, marvelled and glorified God, who had given such power unto men. ⁹ ¶ And as Jesus passed forth from there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. ¹⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat at food in his house, behold, many publicans and sinners that had come sat down at the table with Jesus and his disciples. ¹¹ And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why does your Master eat with publicans and sinners? ¹² But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, Those that are whole need not a physician, but those that are sick. ¹³ Therefore go ye and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, for I am not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. ¹⁴ ¶ Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but thy disciples do not fast? ¹⁵ And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they shall fast. ¹⁶ No one mends an old garment with a piece of new cloth, for that patch takes from the garment, and the rent is made worse. ¹⁷ Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the wineskins break, and the wine runs out, and the wineskins perish; but they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved together. ¹⁸ ¶ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. ¹⁹ And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples. ²⁰ And, behold, a woman who was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years came behind him and touched the hem of his garment; ²¹ for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be free. ²² But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Trust, daughter; thy faith has made thee free. And the woman was free from that hour. ²³ And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, ²⁴ he said unto them, Give place, for the maid is not dead, but sleeps. And they laughed him to scorn. ²⁵ But when the people were put forth, he went in and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. ²⁶ And the fame of this went abroad into all that land. ²⁷ ¶ And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. ²⁸ And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. ²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no one knows it. ³¹ But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. ³² And as they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon. ³³ And when the demon was cast out, the dumb man spoke; and the multitude marvelled, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel. ³⁴ But the Pharisees said, He casts out demons through the prince of the demons. ³⁵ ¶ And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every weakness among the people. ³⁶ And when he saw the multitude, he was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. ³⁷ Then he said unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; ³⁸ pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

¹³ and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali,

⁶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you.

¹⁸ ¶ Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he commanded that they depart unto the other side.

²³ ¶ And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

²¹ ¶ And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, a great multitude gathered unto him, and he was near the sea.

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them, for they were taken with great fear; and he went up into the ship and returned back again.

¹¹ He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be justified still; and let the saint be sanctified still.

¹ A Psalm of David, Maschil. ¶ Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. ² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD does not impute iniquity and in whose spirit there is no guile.

⁷ Go, eat thy bread with joy and drink thy wine with a joyful heart that thy works might be acceptable unto God.

¹ ¶ Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. ² Speak ye according to the heart of Jerusalem and cry unto her that her time is now fulfilled that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.

²² I have undone, as a cloud, thy rebellions, and thy sins, as a mist, return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

³³ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the LORD, I will give my law in their souls and write it in their hearts and will be their God, and they shall be my people. ³⁴ And they shall no longer teach every man his neighbour and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD, for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, said the LORD, for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those who were possessed with devils and those who were lunatic and those that were paralyzed; and he healed them.

¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he marvelled and said to those that followed, Verily I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such faith.

¹⁶ When evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils, and he cast out the spirits with the word and healed all that were sick

⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (then said he to the paralyzed man), Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

²² But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Trust, daughter; thy faith has made thee free. And the woman was free from that hour.

³² In the evening, when the sun was down, they brought unto him all that were diseased and those that were possessed with devils.

¹ ¶ And again he entered into Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that he was in the house. ² And soon many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door; and he preached the word unto them. ³ And they came unto him, bringing a paralytic, carried by four men. ⁴ And when they could not come near unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof of the house where he was; and when they had broken it open, they let down the bed in which the paralytic lay. ⁵ When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee. ⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts, ⁷ Why does this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins but God only? ⁸ And Jesus, knowing afterward in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said unto them, Why think ye these things in your hearts? ⁹ What is easier to say to the paralytic, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and take up thy bed and walk? ¹⁰ But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins (he spoke to the sick of the palsy), ¹¹ I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy bed and go to thy house. ¹² And by and by he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like unto this.

³⁴ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith has made thee saved; go in peace and remain whole of thy plague.

¹⁸ And, behold, men brought in a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they sought means to bring him in and to lay him before him. ¹⁹ And when they could not find any way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. ²⁰ And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. ²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? ²² Then Jesus, knowing their thoughts and answering them said, What reason ye in your hearts? ²³ What is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Rise up and walk? ²⁴ But that ye may know that the Son of man has power upon earth to forgive sins (he said unto the paralytic), I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy couch and go to thine house. ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them and took up that upon which he lay and departed to his own house, glorifying God. ²⁶ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen marvels today.

⁴⁷ Therefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much; but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. ⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. ⁴⁹ And those that sat at food with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgives sins also? ⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Thy faith has saved thee; go in peace.

²⁵ and needed not that any man should give testimony, for he knew what was in man.

³³ These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Children, have ye any food? They answered him, No.

¹⁵ So much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. ¹⁶ There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks and those who were tormented with unclean spirits, and they were healed every one.

³⁸ Be it known unto you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this one is preached unto you the remission of sins; ³⁹ and in him all that believe are justified from all the things from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁹ this man heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

¹² so that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

⁶ Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man unto whom God doth attribute righteousness without works, ⁷ saying, Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute sin.

¹¹ And not only this, but we even glory in God through our Lord Jesus, the Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

¹² ¶ giving thanks unto the Father, who has made us worthy to participate in the inheritance of the saints in light, ¹³ who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son, ¹⁴ in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins,

¹⁸ But someone may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.

¹⁶ And he that pronounces the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him; the same with the stranger as with the natural, if he pronounces the Name, he shall be put to death.

²⁹ for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

⁶⁵ Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He has spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? Behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts, ⁷ Why does this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgive sins but God only?

²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, come forth the evil thoughts, the adulteries, the fornications, the murders,

⁶⁴ Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he spoke within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches him, for she is a sinner. ⁴⁰ And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have something to say unto thee. And he said, Master, say on.

³³ The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we do not stone thee, but for blasphemy; and because thou, being a man, makest thyself God. ³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? ³⁵ If he called them gods unto whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken), ³⁶ do ye say of him whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?

¹¹ Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. ¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes and came upon him and caught him and brought him to the council ¹³ and set up false witnesses, who said, This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law,

²¹ shall not God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

² Thou knowest my sitting down and my rising up, thou dost understand my thoughts from afar.

¹⁰ Thus hath the Lord GOD said: It shall also come to pass in that day, that words shall rise up in thy heart, and thou shalt conceive an evil thought:

²⁵ And Jesus knew their thoughts and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not remain;

⁷ And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. ⁸ Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves that ye have brought no bread?

⁸ And Jesus, knowing afterward in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, said unto them, Why think ye these things in your hearts?

¹⁶ And they argued among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread. ¹⁷ And as Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why argue ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not consider nor understand? is your heart yet blind?

¹⁵ Shall we give or shall we not give? Then he, understanding their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me the coin that I may see it.

²² Then Jesus, knowing their thoughts and answering them said, What reason ye in your hearts?

⁸ But he knew their thoughts and said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise up and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

⁴⁰ And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have something to say unto thee. And he said, Master, say on.

⁴⁶ Then there arose a dispute among them, which of them should be the greatest. ⁴⁷ But Jesus, seeing the thoughts of their heart, took a child and set him by him,

¹⁷ But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every house or city divided against itself will not remain.

²⁴ But Jesus did not trust himself unto them because he knew all men ²⁵ and needed not that any man should give testimony, for he knew what was in man.

⁶¹ But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at it, said unto them, Does this offend you?

⁶⁴ But there are some of you that do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe and who should betray him.

¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of what I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

³⁰ Now we understand that thou knowest all things and needest not that anyone should ask thee; by this we believe that thou didst come forth from God.

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to defraud of the price of the land? ⁴ Retaining it, was it not thy own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

⁹ Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried thy husband are at the door and shall carry thee out.

²⁰ But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter, for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. ²² Repent therefore of this thy wickedness and pray God, if perhaps this thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

¹² For the word of God is alive and efficient and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any created thing that is not manifested in his presence, but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak.

²³ And I will kill her children with death, and all the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} shall know that I AM he that searches the kidneys and hearts, and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

⁵ ¶ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. ⁶ Then the lame one shall leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall praise; for waters shall be dug in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

⁸ Jesus said unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. ⁹ And immediately the man was made whole and took up his bed and walked, and on that day was the sabbath. ¹⁰ The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day; it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. ¹¹ He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed and walk. ¹² Then they asked him, Who is the man that said unto thee, Take up thy bed and walk? ¹³ And he that was healed did not know who it was; for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. ¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

¹⁷ ¶ But Jesus answered them, My Father works until now, and I work. ¹⁸ Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

⁶ Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. ⁷ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. ⁸ And he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. ⁹ And all the people saw him walking and praising God, ¹⁰ and they knew that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. ¹¹ And as the lame man who was healed held onto Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

¹⁶ And in the faith of his name, unto this man whom ye see and know, has confirmed his name; and the faith which is by him has given this man this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

⁹ if we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole, ¹⁰ be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole.

³⁴ And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, the Lord Jesus, the Christ, makes thee whole; arise and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

⁸ ¶ And a certain man sat at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked; ⁹ this man heard Paul speak, who steadfastly beholding him and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. ¹¹ And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

²⁵ I, even I, am he that uproots thy rebellions for mine own sake and will not remember thy sins.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellion with the remnant of his heritage? He did not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy.

²⁰ And Jesus said unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.

¹¹ And, behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was bowed together and could in no wise lift herself up. ¹² And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. ¹³ And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.

²¹ For as the Father raises up the dead and gives them life; even so the Son gives life unto whom he will. ²² For the Father judges no man but has committed all judgment unto the Son ²³ that everyone should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand.

² as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you; as my Father has sent me, even so send I you. ²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit; ²³ unto those whose sins ye release, they shall be released; and unto those whose sins ye retain, they shall be retained.

³¹ God has exalted him with his right hand as Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen calling upon God and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice, Lord, impute not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep in the Lord.

¹⁰ To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also; for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes I forgave it in the person of Christ,

²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did exhort you by us; we beseech you in Christ’s name, be ye reconciled to God.

³² and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another even as God has forgiven you in Christ.

¹³ forbearing one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a quarrel against another: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

²³ And all the people were amazed and said, Is not this the son of David?

³¹ insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see, and they glorified the God of Israel.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

¹² And by and by he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw anything like unto this.

³⁷ and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He has done all things well: he makes both the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak.

¹⁶ And there came a fear on all, and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us, and, That God has visited his people.

¹³ And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight and glorified God.

¹⁵ Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God

⁴⁷ Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

⁸ In this is my Father clarified, in that ye bear much fruit; and in this manner ye shall be my disciples.

²¹ So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way how they might punish them because of the people, for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they were silent and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles.

²⁰ And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous of the law;

²⁴ And they glorified God in me.

¹⁹ ¶ So he departed from there and found Elisha, the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah passed by him and cast his mantle upon him. ²⁰ So he left the oxen and ran after Elijah and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again, for what have I done to thee? ²¹ And he returned back from him and took a yoke of oxen and slew them and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen and gave unto the people and they ate. Then he arose and went after Elijah and served him.

¹⁸ ¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. ¹⁹ And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. ²⁰ And they straightway left their nets and followed him. ²¹ And going on from there, he saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed him.

³ Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go ahead of you into the kingdom of God. ³² For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not, but the publicans and the harlots believed him, and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward that ye might believe him.

¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that as Jesus sat at the table in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also at the table together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many and they had followed him. ¹⁶ And the scribes and Pharisees, seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners? ¹⁷ When Jesus heard it, he said unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance. ¹⁸ ¶ And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees did fast and therefore came and said unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? ¹⁹ And Jesus said unto them, Can those who are in a wedding fast while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. ²⁰ But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days. ²¹ No one mends an old garment with a new piece of cloth, or else the new piece that filled it up tears away from the old, and the rent is made worse. ²² And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, and the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are lost; but new wine must be poured into new wineskins.

²⁷ ¶ And after these things he went forth and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said unto him, Follow me. ²⁸ And he left all, rose up, and followed him. ²⁹ And Levi made a great banquet in his own house and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down at the table with them. ³⁰ But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? ³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, Those that are whole have no need of a physician, but those that are sick. ³² I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. ³³ Then they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but thine eat and drink? ³⁴ And he said unto them, Can ye make the sons of the bridechamber fast while the bridegroom is with them? ³⁵ But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. ³⁶ And he also spoke a parable unto them: No one takes a piece of a new garment to mend an old one; if otherwise, then the new one is rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new does not agree with the old. ³⁷ And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled and the wineskins shall perish. ³⁸ But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

¹⁵ Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon called Zelotes

¹ ¶ Then all the publicans and sinners drew near unto him to hear him. ² And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners and eats with them.

² and, behold, a man named Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. ³ And he sought to see who Jesus was and could not for the crowd because he was small of stature. ⁴ And running ahead, he climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way. ⁵ And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for today I must abide at thy house. ⁶ And he made haste and came down and received him joyfully. ⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. ⁸ Then Zacchaeus stood and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. ⁹ And Jesus said unto him, This day saving health is come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

¹³ And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where Peter and James and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James were.

¹⁶ to reveal his Son in me that I might preach him among the Gentiles, immediately I did not confer with flesh and blood,

⁴⁶ For if ye love those who love you, what reward shall ye have? Do not even the publicans the same? ⁴⁷ And if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?

³¹ Now we know that God does not hear sinners, but if anyone should fear God and do his will, him he will hear.

¹³ who was before a blasphemer and a persecutor and injurious, but I was received unto mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptation by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am first. ¹⁶ But for this cause I was received unto mercy that in me first, Jesus Christ might show forth all clemency, for an example to those who should hereafter believe in him for eternal life.

⁵ who say, Stand by thyself, do not come near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all the day.

¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her children.

¹⁶ And the scribes and Pharisees, seeing him eat with publicans and sinners, said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?

¹⁴ ¶ And as he came to the disciples, he saw a great multitude about them and scribes that disputed with them. ¹⁵ And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. ¹⁶ And he asked the scribes, What dispute ye with them?

³⁰ But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

⁷ And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

⁹ ¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to associate with fornicators, ¹⁰ yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then ye would need to go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

¹⁵ We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

² who can have compassion on the ignorant and on those that are in error; for he himself is also compassed with weakness.

¹⁰ ¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

² Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

⁴ I said, LORD, be merciful unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

³ He heals the broken hearted, and he binds up their wounds.

¹⁴ Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

¹⁷ For I will cause healing to come for thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, said the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after.

⁶ behold, I will bring her healing and medicine, and I will cure them and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

⁴ ¶ I will heal their rebellion; I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from them.

¹⁷ When Jesus heard it, he said unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick; I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.

³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, Those that are whole have no need of a physician, but those that are sick.

⁴³ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians but could not be healed by any,

¹¹ And the people, when they knew it, followed him, and he received them and spoke unto them of the kingdom of God and healed those that had need of healing.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are: extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast two meals every sabbath; I give tithes of all that I possess. ¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God, reconcile me, a sinner.

⁹ So that without the law I lived for some time; but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. ¹⁰ And I found that the same commandment, which was unto life, was mortal unto me. ¹¹ For sin, having had occasion, deceived me by the commandment and by it killed me. ¹² So the law is truly holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. ¹³ Was then that which is good made death unto me? No, in no wise. But sin, to show itself sin by that which is good, worked death in me, making sin exceedingly sinful by the commandment. ¹⁴ ¶ For we now know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold unto subjection by sin. ¹⁵ For that which I do, I do not understand, and not even the good that I desire is what I do; but what I hate, that is what I do. ¹⁶ If then I do that which I do not desire, I approve that the law is good. ¹⁷ So that it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. ¹⁸ And I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing; for I have the desire, but I am not able to perform that which is good. ¹⁹ For I do not do the good that I desire; but the evil which I do not desire, that I do. ²⁰ And if I do that which I do not desire, I am not working, but sin that dwells in me. ²¹ So that, desiring to do good, I find this law: evil is natural unto me. ²² For I delight with the law of God with the inward man, ²³ but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members. ²⁴ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

¹⁷ Because thou sayest, I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined in the fire, that thou may be made rich; and clothed in white raiment, so that the shame of thy nakedness not be uncovered; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou may see.

³ ¶ To do righteousness and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

⁶ ¶ Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

⁶ For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

⁶ ¶ With what shall I present myself before the LORD, and how shall I worship the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? ⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my rebellion, the fruit of my bowels for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

² and saying, Repent ye, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

²⁰ Then he began to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done because they repented not: ²¹ Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

³ But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, and those that were with him, when he was hungry,

⁵ Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath and are blameless?

⁷ But if ye knew what this means, I will have mercy and not sacrifice, ye would not condemn the innocent.

¹⁰ Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in the heavens their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens. ¹¹ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. ¹² What do you think? If a man had a hundred sheep and one of them went astray, would he not leave the ninety-nine and go into the mountains and seek that which is gone astray? ¹³ And if so be that he finds it, verily I say unto you, he rejoices more of that one than of the ninety-nine who did not go astray.

⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female?

²⁸ ¶ But what do you think? A certain man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, Son, go work today in my vineyard. ²⁹ He answered and said, I will not, but afterward he repented and went. ³⁰ And he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I will go, Lord, and went not.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which is spoken unto you by God, who saith, ³² I AM the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

²⁶ And regarding the dead who are to rise, have ye not read in the book of Moses how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, I Am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?

³² I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

²⁶ He said unto him, What is written in the law? How readest thou?

³ And he spoke this parable unto them, saying, ⁴ What man of you having a hundred sheep if he lose one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after that which is lost until he finds it? ⁵ And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. ⁷ I say unto you that likewise there shall be more joy in heaven over one sinner that repents than over ninety-nine just persons, who need no repentance. ⁸ Or what woman having ten drachmas, if she loses one drachma, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? ⁹ And when she has found it, she calls her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost. ¹⁰ Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents.

¹⁰ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

³⁴ Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

³⁸ Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each one of you into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, for the times of refreshing of the presence of the Lord are come;

³⁰ For the times of this ignorance God overlooked, but he now commands all men everywhere to repent ³¹ because he has appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordained; of whom he has given assurance unto all men in that he has raised him from the dead.

²¹ testifying both to the Jews and also to the Gentiles, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by the faith that is in me. ¹⁹ Whereupon, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision, ²⁰ but I announced first unto those of Damascus and at Jerusalem and throughout all the coasts of Judaea and then to the Gentiles that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

⁴ Or dost thou despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, ignoring that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance? ⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, ⁶ who will render to everyone according to his deeds:

¹⁰ as it is written, There is no one righteous, no, not one; ¹¹ there is no one that understands; there is no one that seeks after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way; they are together become unprofitable; there is no one that does good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips, ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; ¹⁵ their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their ways, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they have not known; ¹⁸ there is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ ¶ Now we know that all that the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may submit themselves unto God. ²⁰ For by the deeds of the law, no flesh shall be justified in his sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now, without the law, the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets: ²² the righteousness, that is, of God by the faith of Jesus, the Christ, for all and upon all those that believe in him, for there is no difference; ²³ for all have sinned and are made destitute of the glory of God, ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus, the Christ,

⁹ ¶ Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals ¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

²⁵ that with meekness they might teach those that resist, if God peradventure will grant unto them that they might repent and know the truth, ²⁶ and that they may become converted out of the snare of the devil, in which they are captive to do his will.

⁹ ¶ The Lord is not late concerning his promise, as some count lateness, but is patient with us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

⁶ ¶ Most men will proclaim each one his own mercy, but who can find a man of truth?

¹⁶ ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They already have their reward.

² Now when John had heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

⁹ ¶ And he spoke this parable unto some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others: ¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are: extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast two meals every sabbath; I give tithes of all that I possess.

²⁵ Then there arose a question between the disciples of John and the Jews about purifying.

¹ ¶ When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John

¹¹ And when they saw him, they brought thirty companions to be with him, ¹² unto whom Samson said, I will now put forth an enigma unto you, which if ye can declare it and discover it to me within the seven days of the banquet, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty changes of garments. ¹³ But if ye cannot declare it to me, then ye shall give me thirty sheets and thirty changes of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy enigma that we may hear it. ¹⁴ And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth food, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not declare the enigma in three days. ¹⁵ And it came to pass on the seventh day that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband that he may declare unto us this enigma lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire. Have ye called us here to impoverish us? ¹⁶ And Samson’s wife wept before him and said, Thou dost only hate me and dost not love me, for thou hast not declared unto me the enigma that thou hast put forth unto the sons of my people. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it to my father nor my mother, and must I tell it to thee? ¹⁷ And she wept before him the seven days while their banquet lasted, but on the seventh day, he told her, because she lay sore upon him, and she declared the enigma to the sons of her people. ¹⁸ And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye would have never discovered my enigma. ¹⁹ And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon and slew thirty men of them and taking their spoil, he gave the changes of garments to those who had explained the enigma. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house. ²⁰ But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, who had fed him before.

¹⁴ She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework; the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. ¹⁵ With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.

¹² Therefore the Lord GOD of the hosts did call in this day unto weeping and to mourning and to baldness and to girding with sackcloth:

¹ ¶ Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be likened unto ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom. ² And five of them were prudent, and five were foolish. ³ Those that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them; ⁴ but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their lamps. ⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. ⁶ And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go ye out to meet him. ⁷ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. ⁸ And the foolish said unto the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out. ⁹ But the prudent answered, saying, Lest there be not enough for us and you, but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves. ¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and those that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.

¹³ ¶ And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was about sixty furlongs from Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And they talked together of all these things which had happened. ¹⁵ And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near and went together with them. ¹⁶ But their eyes were held fast that they should not know him. ¹⁷ And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another as ye walk and are sad? ¹⁸ And one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? ¹⁹ Then he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, ²⁰ and how the princes of the priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death and crucified him. ²¹ But we were hoping that it was he who should redeem Israel, and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

²⁹ He that has the bride is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice; this my joy therefore is fulfilled.

⁶ But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, and the world shall rejoice; but even though ye shall be sorrowful, your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ The woman, when she is in travail, has pain, because her hour is come; but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers the anguish no more, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and no one shall take your joy from you.

⁹ And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

¹ ¶ Now there were in the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} that was at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas and Simeon that was called Niger and Lucius of Cyrene and Manaen, who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. ² As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work unto which I have called them. ³ And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they released them.

²³ And having ordained elders for them in every congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} and having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they believed.

⁵ Do not defraud one another, except it be with mutual consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan not tempt you for your incontinency.

²⁷ in labour and travail, in many watches, in hunger and thirst, in many fasts, in cold and nakedness.

⁹ And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are those who are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, These are the true words of God.

² And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven, prepared of God as a bride adorned for her husband.

¹⁴ Let my lord, I pray thee, pass before his slave; and I will lead on softly, according as the property that goes before me and the children are able to endure until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

³ For the rod of wickedness shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous because the righteous shall not put forth their hands unto iniquity.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

¹² I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹ ¶ And I, brothers, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. ² I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food, for until now ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

¹³ And now abide faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

⁴ they worked with prudence and went and made as if they had been ambassadors and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old and rent and bound up,

¹⁹ Behold, my belly is as wine which has no vent; it is ready to burst forth like spirits.

⁸³ ¶ For I am become like a wine skin in the smoke; yet I have not forgotten thy statutes.

¹¹ But Naaman went away angry and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD, his God, and strike his hand over the place and remove the leprosy.

² And, behold, a leper came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou art willing, thou art able to cleanse me.

⁸ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou should come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. ⁹ For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my slave, Do this, and he does it.

²⁴ he said unto them, Give place, for the maid is not dead, but sleeps. And they laughed him to scorn.

³³ Then those that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Truly thou art the Son of God.

²⁵ Then she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

¹⁴ ¶ And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,

²⁰ ¶ Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, worshipping him and desiring a certain thing of him.

¹⁷ And when they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted.

²² And one of the princes of the synagogue came, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet ²³ and besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lies at the point of death; come and lay thy hands on her that she may be saved, and she shall live. ²⁴ And Jesus went with him; and a great multitude followed him and thronged him. ²⁵ And a certain woman, who had an issue of blood twelve years ²⁶ and had suffered many things of many physicians and had spent all that she had and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse; ²⁷ when she had heard of Jesus, came from behind among the multitude and touched his garment. ²⁸ For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be saved. ²⁹ And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. ³⁰ And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned to the crowd and said, Who touched my clothes? ³¹ And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee and sayest thou, Who touched me? ³² And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. ³³ But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him and told him all the truth. ³⁴ And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith has made thee saved; go in peace and remain whole of thy plague. ³⁵ ¶ While he yet spoke, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain who said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? ³⁶ As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he said unto the prince of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. ³⁷ And he suffered no one to follow him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. ³⁸ And they came to the house of the prince of the synagogue and saw the tumult and those that wept and wailed greatly. ³⁹ And when he was come in, he said unto them, Why make ye this ado and weep? The damsel is not dead, but sleeps. ⁴⁰ And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he took the father and the mother of the damsel and those that were with him and entered in where the damsel was lying. ⁴¹ And taking the damsel by the hand, he said unto her, Talitha cumi, which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. ⁴² And straightway the damsel arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. ⁴³ And he charged them straitly that no one should know it and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

² And a certain centurion’s slave, who was dear unto him, was sick and ready to die.

⁴¹ And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a prince of the synagogue, and he fell down at Jesus’ feet and besought him that he would come into his house; ⁴² for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as he went, the people thronged him. ⁴³ And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians but could not be healed by any, ⁴⁴ came behind him and touched the border of his garment, and immediately her issue of blood stopped. ⁴⁵ Then Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and those that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? ⁴⁶ And Jesus said, Someone has touched me, for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. ⁴⁷ And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. ⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole; go in peace. ⁴⁹ While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. ⁵⁰ But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not; only believe, and she shall be made whole. ⁵¹ And when he came into the house, he allowed no one to go in except Peter and James and John and the father and the mother of the maiden. ⁵² And all wept and bewailed her, but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleeps. ⁵³ And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. ⁵⁴ And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise. ⁵⁵ Then her spirit returned, and she arose straightway, and he commanded to give her food. ⁵⁶ And her parents were astonished, but he charged them that they should tell no one what was done.

¹⁴ And the prince of the synagogue answered with indignation because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, and said unto the people, There are six days in which it behooves men to work; in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

¹⁵ Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back and with a loud voice glorified God ¹⁶ and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks; and he was a Samaritan.

¹⁸ ¶ And a certain prince asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

⁴⁷ When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. ⁴⁸ Then Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. ⁴⁹ The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down before my child dies.

²¹ Then Martha said unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died. ²² But I know that even now whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it unto thee.

²⁵ Jesus said unto her, I AM the resurrection and the life; he that believes in me, though he is dead, yet shall he live;

³² Then when Mary was come where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother would not have died.

²⁵ And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him. ²⁶ But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets the princes of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.

⁷ And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.

³⁸ how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. ¹⁰ Therefore as long as we have the opportunity, let us do good unto everyone, especially unto those who are of the household of faith.

²⁵ And the woman when she has an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation or if it runs beyond the time of her separation, all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. ²⁶ Every bed upon which she sleeps all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation; and whatever she sits upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. ²⁷ Whoever touches these things shall be unclean and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening. ²⁸ But when she is clean of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. ²⁹ And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony; ³⁰ and the priest shall offer the one as sin and the other as a burnt offering; and the priest shall reconcile her before the LORD of the issue of her uncleanness. ³¹ Thus shall ye separate the sons of Israel from their uncleanness; and they shall not die for their uncleanness defiling my tabernacle that is among them. ³² This is the law of the one that has an issue and of him whose seed goes forth from him, causing him to be unclean because of it, ³³ and of her that is suffering her menstruation, and of the one that has an issue, male or female, and of the man that lies with an unclean woman.

³⁸ Speak unto the sons of Israel and bid them that they make for themselves fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue. ³⁹ And it shall be unto you for a fringe that ye may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, seeking after which ye fornicate.

¹² Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy covering with which thou dost cover thyself.

³⁶ and besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment, and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

⁵ But they do all their works that they may be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders of their garments

⁵⁶ And wherever he entered, into villages or cities or fields, they laid the sick in the streets and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment, and as many as touched him were saved.

²² ¶ And he came to Bethsaida, and they bring a blind man unto him and beseech him to touch him.

¹⁵ So much that they brought forth the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

² And, behold, they brought him a paralyzed man, lying on a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the paralyzed man, Trust, son; thy sins are forgiven thee.

²⁹ Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou desire. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon departed out of him and the child was cured from that very hour.

⁵² And Jesus said unto him, Go; thy faith has saved thee. And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus in the way.

⁵⁰ And he said to the woman, Thy faith has saved thee; go in peace.

⁴⁸ And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole; go in peace.

¹⁹ And he said unto him, Arise, go; thy faith has saved thee.

⁴² And Jesus said unto him, See; thy faith has saved thee.

⁵³ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son lives; and he believed, and his whole house.

¹⁸ And she did this for many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

² For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them, but it did not profit those that heard the word without mixing it with faith.

²⁵ And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah; and all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day and made them an ordinance in Israel, which are written in the lamentations.

¹⁷ Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Consider ye and call for the mourning women that they may come and send for cunning women that they may come, ¹⁸ and let them make haste and take up a wailing for us that our eyes may run down with tears and our eyelids gush out with waters. ¹⁹ For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we destroyed! We are greatly confounded. Why have we forsaken the land? Why have our dwellings cast us out? ²⁰ Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth and teach your daughters wailing and each one her neighbour lamentation.

¹⁸ ¶ While he spoke these things unto them, behold, a certain ruler came and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. ¹⁹ And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples.

¹⁷ and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

³² They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace and calling one to another and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

⁴⁹ While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. ⁵⁰ But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not; only believe, and she shall be made whole. ⁵¹ And when he came into the house, he allowed no one to go in except Peter and James and John and the father and the mother of the maiden.

³⁹ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made them while she was with them.

¹⁸ And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Art thou come unto me to call my iniquity to remembrance and to cause my son to die? ¹⁹ And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom and carried him up into the chamber where he abode and laid him upon his own bed. ²⁰ And he cried unto the LORD and said, O LORD my God, hast thou even brought evil upon the widow, with whom I sojourn, by killing her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried unto the LORD and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again. ²² And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. ²³ And Elijah took the child and brought him down out of the chamber into the house and delivered him unto his mother, and Elijah said, See, thy son lives. ²⁴ Then the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God and that the word of the LORD is true in thy mouth.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men and despised of the people. ⁷ All those that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

⁷ ¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee.

³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that wouldst destroy the temple and build it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}. ⁴¹ Likewise also the princes of the priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him, for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁴ When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

¹¹ Having said that he said unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may awake him out of sleep. ¹² Then his disciples said, Lord, if he sleeps, he shall be saved. ¹³ But Jesus had spoken of his death, and they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

⁴⁰ Then Peter put them all out and knelt down and prayed and turned to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁰ And Paul went down and fell on him and, embracing him, said, Trouble not yourselves, for his soul is still in him.

³² And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was laid dead upon his bed. ³³ He went in therefore and shut the door upon both of them and prayed unto the LORD. ³⁴ Then he went up and lay upon the child and put his mouth upon his mouth and his eyes upon his eyes and his hands upon his hands; thus he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. ³⁵ Then he returned and walked through the house to and fro and went up and stretched himself upon him again; and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. ³⁶ And he called Gehazi and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And as she was coming in unto him, he said, Take up thy son.

³¹ And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up; and the fever left her by and by, and she ministered unto them.

⁴¹ And taking the damsel by the hand, he said unto her, Talitha cumi, which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

²³ So, taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting into his eyes and putting his hands upon them, he asked him if he saw anything.

²⁷ But Jesus, taking him by the hand, straightened him up; and he arose.

⁵⁴ And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise.

⁴⁰ Then Peter put them all out and knelt down and prayed and turned to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

¹ ¶ At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus ² and said unto his slaves, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.

⁴⁵ But he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.

¹⁴ ¶ And king Herod heard of him (for his name was spread abroad), and he said, John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and therefore virtues operate in him.

²⁶ For the king knows of these things, before whom I also speak freely; for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him, for this thing was not done in a corner.

¹ ¶ The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

²² ¶ Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind, and dumb, and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the people were amazed and said, Is not this the son of David?

²² And, behold, a woman of Canaan having come out of the same borders cried unto him, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me; my daughter is sick, possessed by a demon.

¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic and suffers miserably; for many times he has fallen into the fire and often into the water.

³⁰ And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us. ³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, that they should be silent; but they cried the more, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us.

⁹ And the people that went before and that followed, cried out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

¹⁵ But when the princes of the priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children crying out in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were sore displeased

⁴¹ ¶ While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, ⁴² saying, What think ye of the Christ? Whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. ⁴³ He said unto them, How then does David in Spirit call him Lord, saying, ⁴⁴ The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool? ⁴⁵ If David then calls him Lord, how is he his son?

²² ¶ And he came to Bethsaida, and they bring a blind man unto him and beseech him to touch him. ²³ So, taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town; and spitting into his eyes and putting his hands upon them, he asked him if he saw anything.

²² And ofttimes it has cast him into the fire and into the waters to kill him, but if thou canst do any thing, help us, having mercy on us.

⁴⁶ ¶ And so they come to Jericho, and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. ⁴⁷ And hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. ⁴⁸ And many told him to be silent, but he cried even more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

¹⁰ blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

³⁵ ¶ And answering, Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, How do the scribes say that the Christ is Son of David? ³⁶ For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. ³⁷ David therefore himself calls him Lord, and where then is he his son? And the many people heard him gladly.

²¹ And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues and of evil spirits, and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

¹³ and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

³⁸ And he cried out, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. ³⁹ And those who went before rebuked him that he should remain silent; but he cried out so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

⁴¹ And he said unto them, How do they say that the Christ is David’s son?

⁴² Has not the scripture said, That the Christ comes of the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was?

¹ ¶ And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from his birth. ² And his disciples asked him, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? ³ Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. ⁴ It is expedient that I do the works of him that sent me while it is day; the night comes, when no one can work. ⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. ⁶ When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay ⁷ and said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). Then he went and washed and came back seeing. ⁸ ¶ The neighbours, therefore, and those who before had seen him that he was blind said, Is not this he that sat and begged? ⁹ Some said, This is he; others said, He is like him; but he said, I am he. ¹⁰ Then they said unto him, How were thine eyes opened? ¹¹ He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash; and I went and washed, and I received sight. ¹² Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.

³ of his Son (who was born unto him of the seed of David according to the flesh,

⁵ whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh is the Christ, who is God over all things, blessed for all the ages. Amen.

¹⁴ ¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying in bed and with fever.

³⁶ Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house, and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

⁵⁸ And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

²³ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe this, all things are possible to him that believes. ²⁴ And straightway the father of the child crying out with tears, said, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief.

⁴⁸ Then Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. ⁴⁹ The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down before my child dies. ⁵⁰ Jesus said unto him, Go; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus spoke unto him, and he went.

²⁶ and whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

⁴⁰ Jesus said unto her, Did I not say unto thee that if thou wouldest believe thou shalt see the glory of God?

⁶ and saying, Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed, grievously tormented. ⁷ And Jesus said unto him, I will come and heal him.

¹³ Then Jesus said unto the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in that same hour.

³⁴ Then Jesus, having mercy on them, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; the LORD raises those that are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous:

⁵ ¶ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

⁷ that thou might open the eyes of the blind, that thou might bring out the prisoners from the prison and those that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

¹³ ¶ Behold, my slave shall be prospered; he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

⁴ Then Jesus said unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

¹⁶ and strictly charged them that they should not make him known;

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead.

⁴³ And he charged them straitly that no one should know it and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no one. But go and show thyself to the priest and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

⁵⁶ And her parents were astonished, but he charged them that they should tell no one what was done.

He said unto them, He put clay upon my eyes, and I washed and do see. ¹⁶ Therefore some of the Pharisees said, This man is not of God because he does not keep the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such signs? And there was a division among them. ¹⁷ They said unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that has opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. ¹⁸ But the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind and received his sight until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. ¹⁹ And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then does he now see? ²⁰ His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son and that he was born blind; ²¹ but by what means he now sees, we know not; or who has opened his eyes, we know not; he is of age, ask him; he shall speak for himself. ²² These words spoke his parents because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone did confess that he was the Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. ²³ Therefore his parents said, He is of age, ask him. ²⁴ Then they called again the man that had been blind and said unto him, Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner. ²⁵ He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner or not, I do not know; one thing I know, that having been blind, now I see. ²⁶ Then said they to him again, What did he do to thee? How did he open thine eyes?

²⁶ And the fame of this went abroad into all that land.

⁴⁴ and said unto him, See thou say nothing to any man, but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. ⁴⁵ But he went out and began to publish it much and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places; and they came to him from every quarter.

³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no one; but the more he commanded them, so much more and more they published it

²² ¶ Then was brought unto him one possessed with a demon, blind, and dumb, and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the people were amazed and said, Is not this the son of David? ²⁴ But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow does not cast out demons but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

¹⁷ And one of the multitude answering, said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, who has a dumb spirit; ¹⁸ and wherever he takes him, he tears him, and he foams and gnashes with his teeth and pines away; and I spoke to thy disciples that they should cast him out, and they could not. ¹⁹ Answering, he said unto him, O unfaithful generation, how long shall I be with you? How long must I suffer you? Bring him unto me. ²⁰ And they brought him unto him; and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tore him; and he fell on the ground and wallowed foaming. ²¹ And Jesus asked his father, How long ago is it since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. ²² And ofttimes it has cast him into the fire and into the waters to kill him, but if thou canst do any thing, help us, having mercy on us. ²³ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe this, all things are possible to him that believes. ²⁴ And straightway the father of the child crying out with tears, said, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief. ²⁵ When Jesus saw that the multitude concurred, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him and enter no more into him. ²⁶ Then the spirit, crying out and rending him sore, came out; and he remained as one dead, insomuch that many said that he was dead. ²⁷ But Jesus, taking him by the hand, straightened him up; and he arose.

¹⁴ ¶ And he was casting out a demon, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the demon was gone out, the one who had been dumb spoke; and the people marvelled.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto him, Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the dumb or the deaf or the seeing or the blind? Am not I the LORD? ¹² Now therefore go and I will be with thy mouth and teach thee what thou shalt say.

⁸ And when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, he sent to the king, saying, Why hast thou rent thy clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

⁶ Then the lame one shall leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall praise; for waters shall be dug in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

²⁰ who hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and in the man, and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

³⁰ And many people came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many other sick and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them, ³¹ insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see, and they glorified the God of Israel.

³² And they bring unto him one that was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. ³³ And taking him aside from the multitude, he put his fingers into the man’s ears; and spitting, he touched the man’s tongue with the saliva; ³⁴ and looking up to heaven, he cried out, and said, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. ³⁵ And straightway his ears were opened, and that which bound his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plainly. ³⁶ And he charged them that they should tell no one; but the more he commanded them, so much more and more they published it ³⁷ and were beyond measure astonished, saying, He has done all things well: he makes both the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak.

⁹ When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him and turned about and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you that not even in Israel have I found such great faith.

²² ¶ But the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem said that he had Beelzebub and that by the prince of the devils he cast out devils.

¹⁵ But some of them said, He casts out devils through Beelzebub the prince of the demons.

²⁰ For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

²³ ¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every bodily weakness among the people. ²⁴ And his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those who were possessed with devils and those who were lunatic and those that were paralyzed; and he healed them.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished giving commandments to his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.

³² In the evening, when the sun was down, they brought unto him all that were diseased and those that were possessed with devils. ³³ And all the city was gathered together at the door. ³⁴ And he healed many that were sick of diverse diseases and cast out many devils and suffered not the devils to speak because they knew him. ³⁵ And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and prayed there. ³⁶ And Simon and those that were with him followed after him. ³⁷ And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. ³⁸ And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns that I may preach there also, for truly I came forth for that purpose. ³⁹ And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee and cast out devils.

⁶ And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went through the villages round about, teaching.

⁴³ And he said unto them, I must announce the gospel of the kingdom of God to other cities also because for this am I sent. ⁴⁴ And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

²² And he went through the cities and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know,

¹⁷ who may go out before them, and who may go in before them, and who may lead them out and who may bring them in that the congregation of the LORD not be as sheep without a shepherd.

¹⁷ Then he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains as sheep without a shepherd; and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return each man to his house in peace.

¹⁶ Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said, These have no master; let each one return to his house in peace.

⁹ ¶ All ye beasts of the field, all ye beasts of the forest; come to devour. ¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, they love to slumber. ¹¹ And these anxious dogs are insatiable, and even the shepherds did not know enough to understand: they all look to their own ways, each one for his gain, from his quarter.

⁶ My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have caused them to go astray; they have turned them away on the mountains; they have gone from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their restingplace.

³ Ye eat the milk, and ye clothe yourselves with the wool, ye kill those that are fat; but ye do not feed the flock. ⁴ Ye have not strengthened the weak, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty ye have ruled them; ⁵ and they are dispersed because there is no shepherd; and they became food to all the beasts of the field, and they were scattered. ⁶ My sheep were lost and wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill; my flock was dispersed upon all the face of the earth, and there was no one to search for them or to require anything of them.

² For the idols have spoken vanity and the diviners have seen a lie and have told vain dreams; they comfort in vain; therefore they went their way like sheep; they were humbled because there was no shepherd.

¹⁶ For, behold, I raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that are lost, neither shall seek the young one nor heal the one that is broken nor carry the one that is tired, but he shall eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hoofs in pieces.

⁷ ¶ Awake, O sword, upon the pastor and upon the man that is my fellow, said the LORD of the hosts; smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand upon the little ones. ⁸ And it shall come to pass that in all the land, said the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off in her and shall be lost; but the third shall be left therein.

⁶ but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

¹⁴ And Jesus went forth and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

²⁴ But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

³² Then Jesus called his disciples unto him and said, I have mercy on the multitude because they persevere with me now three days and have nothing to eat, and I desire not to send them away fasting lest they faint in the way.

³⁴ And Jesus, when he came out, saw a great multitude and had mercy on them because they were as sheep not having a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

¹¹ The Lord shall give a word; great shall be the host of the evangelists thereof.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

² Therefore he said unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

³⁵ Do ye not say, There are yet four months and then comes harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest. ³⁶ And he that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto eternal life, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.

⁹ And a vision was shown to Paul in the night: There stood a man of Macedonia, asking him, saying, Come over into Macedonia and help us.

¹⁰ For I am with thee, and no one shall be able to hurt thee, for I have many people in this city.

⁹ For we are labourers together with God; ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

¹ ¶ We then, as workers together with him, exhort you also that ye have not received the grace of God in vain.

¹⁹ But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort when I know your state. ²⁰ For I have no one likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. ²¹ For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

¹¹ and Jesus, who is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, who have been a comfort unto me.

¹² And we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you ¹³ and that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

¹⁷ ¶ Let the elders that govern well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine.

¹⁸ Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive; thou hast received gifts for men, yea, for the rebellious also that the LORD God might dwell among them.

¹⁵ And I will give you pastors according to my heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

⁷ ¶ And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as the dew of the LORD, as the rains upon the grass, which did not expect a man, nor did they expect the sons of men.

¹ ¶ Then calling his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of weakness. ² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee and John his brother; ³ Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

¹² ¶ And it came to pass in those days that he went out into the mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples; and of them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

¹ ¶ After these things the Lord appointed another seventy also and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place where he himself would come. ² Therefore he said unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

²¹ Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be unto you; as my Father has sent me, even so send I you.

⁴ ¶ But those that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word of the gospel.

² As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work unto which I have called them.

²⁸ And God did set certain ones in the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}: first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that faculties, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers,

¹ ¶ Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course and be glorified, even as it is with you,
