²² Because all those men who saw my glory and my signs which I have done in Egypt and in the wilderness and have tempted me now these ten times and have not hearkened to my voice,

⁷ And your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.

⁴¹ Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters and six years for thy flock; and thou hast changed my wages ten times.

¹¹ And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why hast thou dealt thus with us, to bring us forth out of Egypt?

² And the people chided with Moses and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? Why do ye tempt the LORD?

¹ ¶ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron and said unto him, Rise up, make us gods which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what is become of him.

¹¹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? How long will it be before they believe me, with all the signs which I have done among them?

³¹ and in the wilderness thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bore thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went until ye came into this place. ³² Yet with all this ye did not believe in the LORD your God, ³³ who went in the way before you to search you out a place to pitch your tents, with fire by night, to show you by what way ye should go, and with a cloud by day. ³⁴ And the LORD heard the voice of your words and was angry and swore, saying, ³⁵ Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land, which I swore to give unto your fathers,

³ These ten times ye have reproached me; are ye not ashamed to make yourselves strange to me?

⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. ¹⁰ Forty years long I was grieved with this generation and said, It is a people that err from the heart, who have not known my ways; ¹¹ unto whom I swore in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

¹⁴ They gave themselves over to lust in the wilderness and tempted God in the desert.

²⁶ Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness,

¹⁵ We say, therefore, now, that blessed are the proud and even that those that work wickedness are prospered; those that tempted God have escaped.

⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

⁵ But with many of them God was not pleased; therefore, they were overthrown in the wilderness.

⁹ Neither let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted and perished by the serpents.

⁹ Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

¹⁷ But with whom was he indignant forty years? Was it not with those that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom he swore that they should not enter into his rest, but to those that disobeyed?
