¹ ¶ Doth not wisdom cry, and give her voice to intelligence? ² She stands in the top of high places, by the way at the crossroads of the paths. ³ She cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors. ⁴ Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of men. ⁵ O ye simple, understand prudence; and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. ⁶ Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things. ⁷ For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. ⁸ All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing perverse or twisted in them. ⁹ They are all plain to him that understands and right to those that have found wisdom. ¹⁰ Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than precious stones; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. ¹² ¶ I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I invent the knowledge of giving counsel. ¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate. ¹⁴ With me is counsel, and existence; I am understanding; strength belongs to me. ¹⁵ By me the kings reign, and the princes decree justice. ¹⁶ By me the princes rule, and all of the governors judge the earth. ¹⁷ I love those that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me. ¹⁸ Riches and honour are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness. ¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yea, than precious stones, and my revenue than choice silver. ²⁰ I shall lead in the way of righteousness in the midst of the paths of judgment, ²¹ that I may cause my friends to inherit existence and I will fill their treasures. ²² ¶ The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. ²³ I was set up with eternal dominion, from the beginning, before the earth was. ²⁴ I was begotten before the depths, before the existence of the fountains of many waters. ²⁵ Before the mountains were founded, before the hills was I begotten. ²⁶ While as yet he had not made the earth nor the fields nor the beginning of the dust of the world, ²⁷ when he composed the heavens, I was there. When he set a compass upon the face of the depth, ²⁸ when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, ²⁹ when he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth, ³⁰ I was with him ordering everything; I was his delight every day, being content before him at all times; ³¹ I am content in the circumference of his earth, and my contentment is with the sons of men. ³² ¶ Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye sons; for blessed are those that keep my ways. ³³ Hearken unto chastening, and be wise; refuse it not. ³⁴ Blessed is the man that hears me, keeping vigil at my gates, waiting at the threshold of my doors. ³⁵ For whosoever finds me shall find life and shall obtain the will of the LORD. ³⁶ But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those that hate me love death.

²⁰ ¶ Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets: ²¹ She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the entrance to the gates of the city she utters her words, saying,

¹ ¶ Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out her seven pillars: ² She has killed her sacrifice; she has mingled her wine; and she has furnished her table. ³ She has sent forth her maidens; she cries upon the highest places of the city,

¹ ¶ Listen, O isles, unto me, and hearken, ye peoples, from far, The LORD has called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother he has remembered my name. ² And he has made my mouth like a sharp sword; with the shadow of his hand he has covered me, and made me a clean arrow; in his quiver he has kept me. ³ And he said unto me, Thou art my slave, O Israel; in thee I will glory. ⁴ But I said, I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is before the LORD and my recompense with my God. ⁵ And now, saith the LORD, he that formed me from the womb to be his slave, so that Jacob might be converted unto him. But if Israel will not be gathered, even so, yet I shall be esteemed in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. ⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

¹ ¶ Ho, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that has no money; come ye, buy, and eat; come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which does not satisfy? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ³ Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an eternal covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³ For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, who said, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord; make his paths straight.

¹⁷ From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, behold, I am with you always even unto the end of the age. Amen.

¹⁰ And the gospel needs to be preached unto all the Gentiles first.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be condemned.

⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

³⁷ ¶ In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any man thirsts, let him come unto me and drink.

⁸ But ye shall receive the virtue of the Holy Spirit which shall come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

²¹ And he said unto me, Depart, for I will send thee far from here unto the Gentiles.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not wrought by me, unto the obedience of the Gentiles, with word and with deed, ¹⁹ with power of signs and wonders, in virtue of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem and round about unto Illyricum, I have filled the entire area with the gospel of the Christ. ²⁰ And in this manner I preached this gospel, not where Christ had been named previously, not to build upon a foundation belonging to another, ²¹ but, as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see, and those that have not heard shall understand.

³ She has sent forth her maidens; she cries upon the highest places of the city,

¹⁴ For she sits at the door of her house on a seat in the high places of the city

⁷ ¶ When I went out to the gate to judgment, when I had my seat prepared in the plaza!

⁹ Go ye therefore into the entrances of the highways and call as many as ye shall find to the marriage.

²¹ So that slave came and showed his lord these things. Then the husband of the house, being angry, said to his slave, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the halt and the blind. ²² And the slave said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. ²³ And the lord said unto the slave, Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in that my house may be filled.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews gather; and I have said nothing in secret.

²⁰ Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm for the sons of Korah. ¶ Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: ² Both low and high, rich and poor, together. ³ My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart intelligence.

¹ A Psalm to Asaph. ¶ The God of gods, even the LORD, has spoken and convocated the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

¹⁵ He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

¹⁹ for certainly God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them and having placed in us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did exhort you by us; we beseech you in Christ’s name, be ye reconciled to God.

²³ if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard and which is preached to every creature which is under heaven, of which I Paul am made a minister,

²⁸ whom we preach, warning every man and teaching in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus,

⁴ who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth. ⁵ For there is only one God and likewise only one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ⁶ who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which was confirmed at the time,

¹¹ ¶ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, ¹² teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live temperately, righteously, and godly in this present world;

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty come; and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely.

⁷ ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

⁸ Understand, ye carnal ones among the people, and, ye fools, when will ye be wise?

⁴ to give prudence to the simple, and to the young men knowledge and council.

²² How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and the fools hate knowledge?

⁴ whosoever is simple, let him turn in here; as for those that lack understanding, {Heb. lacking of heart}, she saith unto him,

¹³ ¶ The LORD shall go forth as a giant; he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war; he shall cry out a battle cry; he shall prevail against his enemies.

¹⁸ to open their eyes and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by the faith that is in me.

²⁸ and that which is vile of the world and that which is despised God has chosen, and things which are not, to bring to nought the things that are,

⁹ ¶ Know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor effeminate nor homosexuals ¹⁰ nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you, but now ye are washed, but now ye are sanctified, but now ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁷ Because thou sayest, I am rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined in the fire, that thou may be made rich; and clothed in white raiment, so that the shame of thy nakedness not be uncovered; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou may see.

¹ ¶ Therefore, Job, hear now my reasons, and hearken to all my words. ² Behold, now I shall open my mouth, my tongue shall speak in my mouth. ³ My reasons declare the uprightness of my heart; and my lips shall utter pure knowledge.

⁷ ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸ The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the rights of the LORD are true, they are all just. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. ¹¹ Moreover by them is thy slave warned, and in keeping them there is great reward.

³ My mouth shall speak wisdom; and the meditation of my heart intelligence.

⁶ For the LORD gives wisdom; out of his mouth comes knowledge and intelligence. ⁷ He keeps the person of the upright; he is a buckler to those that walk perfectly,

² For I give you good doctrine; do not forsake my law.

²⁰ ¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my words. ²¹ Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. ²² For they are life unto those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.

²⁰ Have I not written unto thee three times in counsels and knowledge, ²¹ that I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth, that thou mightest answer the words of truth to those that send unto thee?

¹⁶ my kidneys shall also rejoice when thy lips speak right things.

² and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying, ³ ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ⁴ Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted. ⁵ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. ⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. ⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. ⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. ⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. ¹⁰ Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. ¹² Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

²⁸ And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these words, the multitude marvelled at his doctrine; ²⁹ for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

³⁵ that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

⁶ ¶ For we speak perfect wisdom of God, and not the wisdom of this age nor of the princes of this age, that come to nought, ⁷ but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages unto our glory,

²⁶ even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints,

⁴ For truly my words are not lies; for I share perfect knowledge with thee.

³⁰ Pe The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue brings forth judgment.

²² ¶ Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but the workers of the truth are his delight.

¹² ¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.

²⁷ ¶ An unjust man is an abomination to the just, and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.

¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses, but the grace and the truth of God came through Jesus, the Christ.

¹⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear witness of myself, my witness is true, for I know from where I came and where I go; but ye do not know where I came from and where I go.

⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, ye do not believe me. ⁴⁶ ¶ Which of you reproves me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

⁶ Jesus said unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes unto the Father, but by me.

¹⁷ ¶ Sanctify them in thy truth; thy word is the truth.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I AM king. To this end I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.

¹⁴ ¶ And unto the angel of the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of the Laodiceans write; Behold, he who saith, Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:

⁵ They have corrupted themselves, their spot is that they are not his sons; they are a perverse and crooked generation.

⁶ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

²³ I have sworn by myself; the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow; every tongue shall swear.

¹ ¶ Who is this that comes from Edom, with red garments from Bozrah? This glorious one in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

⁴⁶ The officers answered, Never has anyone spoken like this man.

⁷ ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸ The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

¹² Lamed Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. ¹³ Mem His soul shall rest in that which is good; and his seed shall inherit the earth. ¹⁴ Nun The secret of the LORD is for those that fear him, and he will show them his covenant.

⁹⁸ ¶ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies, for they are eternal unto me. ⁹⁹ I have more understanding than all my teachers, for thy testimonies have been my meditation. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the elders because I keep thy precepts.

⁶ ¶ The scorner sought wisdom and found it not, but wisdom comes easy unto him that understands.

¹⁴ ¶ The heart of him that has understanding seeks wisdom, but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

²⁴ ¶ The way of life is uphill to the wise, that he may separate himself from Sheol below.

²⁴ ¶ Wisdom appears upon the countenance of him that has understanding, but the eyes of a fool manifest his folly unto the ends of the earth.

¹ ¶ Whosoever goes astray seeks according to his own lust and shall meddle with every doctrine. ² ¶ A fool has no delight in understanding, but in that which his own heart discovers.

¹⁵ ¶ The heart of the man of understanding acquires wisdom, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

⁸ And a highway shall be there and a way, and it shall be called The Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; and for those in it there shall be someone to go with them, in such a manner that the foolish shall not err therein.

⁷ O thou that calls thyself the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD shortened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walks uprightly?

¹¹ He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not given. ¹² For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have in abundance; but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that which he has.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard from the Father and has learned comes unto me.

¹⁷ If anyone desires to do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it is of God or whether I speak of myself.

¹⁴ But the natural man does not perceive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he understand them because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ But he that is spiritual discerns all things, yet he is discerned by no one.

⁵ And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

⁷² ¶ The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

¹²⁷ ¶ Therefore I have loved thy commandments above gold, yea, above fine gold.

¹⁶² ¶ I rejoice at thy spoken word, as one that finds great spoil.

⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures, ⁵ then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

¹³ ¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence, ¹⁴ for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than precious stones, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yea, than precious stones, and my revenue than choice silver.

²⁰ ¶ The tongue of the just is as choice silver, but the understanding {Heb. heart} of the wicked is worth little.

¹⁶ ¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!

²³ Buy the truth and sell it not, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.

¹¹ ¶ Knowledge is good with an inheritance and is the excellency of those that see the sun.

⁶ Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

¹⁰ as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹⁵ It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for its price. ¹⁶ It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx or the sapphire. ¹⁷ Gold cannot equal it, nor can diamond; neither shall it be exchanged for vessels of fine gold. ¹⁸ No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls; for wisdom is better than precious stones. ¹⁹ The emerald of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee. ⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

¹⁵ ¶ There is gold and a multitude of precious stones, but the lips of wisdom are a precious vessel.

²⁶ For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ ⁹ ¶ and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

³ and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and in intelligence and in science and in all manner of workmanship, ⁴ to devise cunning works, to work in gold and in silver and in brass, ⁵ and in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship. ⁶ And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the desire of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom that they may make all that I have commanded thee:

³⁰ ¶ And Moses said unto the sons of Israel, See, the LORD has named Bezaleel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;

¹⁴ who was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father had been of Tyre. A worker in brass, full of wisdom and intelligence and knowledge in all work of brass. And he came to King Solomon and did all his work.

¹² and the pattern of all that he had received by the Spirit of the courts of the house of the LORD and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God and of the treasuries of the holy things;

¹⁹ All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern.

¹⁴ So when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind; and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom thou hast made them all; the earth is full of thy riches.

²⁶ For his God teaches him to know how to judge and instructs him.

⁸ For my thoughts are not as your thoughts, neither are your ways as my ways, saith the LORD. ⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts more than your thoughts.

³³ ¶ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and his ways past finding out!

⁸ which has over abounded in us in all wisdom and prudence;

¹¹ in him in whom likewise we have obtained an inheritance, having had the way marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

¹⁰ To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} the manifold wisdom of God,

³ in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

³ Do not multiply thyself speaking great and lofty things; let arrogant words cease from your mouth, for the LORD is the all-knowing God, and the magnificent works are his.

⁴ For thou art not a God that loves wickedness; neither shall one who is evil dwell with thee. ⁵ The foolish (those who are governed by carnal thoughts or desires) shall not stand in thy sight; thou dost hate all workers of iniquity.

¹⁰ Ye that love the LORD are to hate evil; he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

³ I will set nothing of Belial before my eyes: I hate the work of those that betray; it shall not cleave to me.

¹⁰⁴ Through thy precepts I have obtained understanding; therefore I have hated every false way.

¹²⁸ Therefore I have esteemed all thy precepts concerning all things to be right and I have hated every false way.

⁶ ¶ For the LORD, who is high and lifted up, looks upon the humble, but the proud he does not know.

²⁴ Put away from thee the perversion of the mouth, and the deviation of the lips put far from thee.

¹² ¶ A wicked man of Belial walks with a perverse mouth.

¹⁶ These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to evil, ¹⁹ a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

³¹ ¶ The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.

⁶ ¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

¹⁸ ¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁵ Hate the evil and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate; it may be that the LORD God of the hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

¹⁷ and let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, said the LORD.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation, abhorring that which is evil, causing you to come unto that which is good;

²² Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

¹⁹ ¶ Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows those that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

⁵ ¶ Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

⁵ The wise man is strong; and the man of understanding is a mighty man of valour.

¹⁹ Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten mighty men who are in the city.

¹⁶ Then I said, Wisdom is better than strength: even though the poor man’s knowledge is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is placed upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called The Wonderful One, The Counsellor, The God, The Mighty One, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace.

¹⁴ With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him? Who taught him in the path of judgment and taught him knowledge and showed unto him the way of intelligence?

⁹ That Word was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into this world.

²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools

³³ ¶ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments and his ways past finding out! ³⁴ For who has understood the intent of the Lord? or who has been his counsellor?

²⁴ but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

³⁰ But of him ye are reborn in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

¹⁷ And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spoke to thee of! This same shall reign over my people.

¹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil and go; I will send thee to Jesse of Bethlehem for I have provided me a king among his sons.

⁹ Give, therefore, thy slave a hearing heart to judge thy people that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this thy so great a people?

²⁸ And all Israel heard of that judgment which the king had judged, and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to judge.

⁷ And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, who has given unto David a wise son over this great people.

⁹ Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel; because the LORD has always loved Israel, therefore he made thee king, to do justice and righteousness.

⁵ and of all my sons (for the LORD has given me many sons) he has chosen Solomon, my son, to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

¹ A Psalm for Solomon. ¶ Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son. ² ¶ He shall judge thy people with righteousness and thy poor with judgment. ³ The mountains shall bring peace to the people and the little hills by righteousness. ⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people; he shall save the children of the destitute and shall break in pieces the violent.

⁴ The king’s strength is that he loves judgment; thou dost establish equity; thou dost execute judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

²⁶ and I will restore thy judges as at the first and thy counsellors as at the beginning; afterward thou shalt be called The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

¹ ¶ Behold, one king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall preside unto judgment. ² And that man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a hot land.

⁵ I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom was upright in my eyes. ⁶ And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my slave; and even the beasts of the field I have given him that they might serve him. ⁷ And all the Gentiles shall serve him and his son and his son’s son, until the time of his own land shall come also; and many nations and great kings shall serve him.

¹⁵ In those days and at that time, I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

²¹ and it is he that changes the times and the opportunities; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom unto the wise and knowledge unto those that know understanding:

²⁵ that they shall drive thee from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall feed thee with grass of the field as the oxen, and with the dew of heaven shalt thou be bathed, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou shalt understand that the most High takes rule over the kingdom of men and that he shall give it to whoever he will.

³² and they drive thee from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; and they shall feed thee as the oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee until thou know that the most High takes rule in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever he will.

¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom and the greatness and the glory and the magnificence: ¹⁹ and by the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him; whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he humbled. ²⁰ But when his heart made itself arrogant, and his spirit hardened itself in pride, he was deposed from the throne of his kingdom, and they took his glory from him: ²¹ and he was driven from among the sons of men; and his heart was put with the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they made him eat grass like an ox, and his body was bathed with the dew of heaven until he understood that the most high God takes rule of the kingdom of men and that he appoints over it whomever he will. ²² And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; ²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; furthermore, thou hast praised gods of silver and of gold, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy soul and whose are all thy ways, thou hast never honoured. ²⁴ Then from his presence was sent the palm of the hand that sculpted this writing. ²⁵ And the writing that he sculpted is, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has audited thy kingdom and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; Thy kingdom has been broken and is given to the Medes and Persians. ²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold about his neck and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. ³⁰ ¶ That same night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was slain. ³¹ And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being sixty-two years old.

¹³ I saw in the vision of the night, and, behold, in the clouds of heaven like a Son of man that came and drew near unto the Elder of great age, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ And he gave him dominion and glory and kingdom; and all the peoples, nations, and tongues served him: his dominion is an eternal dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom such that it shall never be corrupted.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

¹ ¶ Let every soul submit itself to the higher powers. For there is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained of God.

¹¹ ¶ And I saw the heaven open, and behold a white horse; and he that was seated upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

¹⁶ And he has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

³⁰ Therefore, the LORD God of Israel said, I had said indeed that thy house and the house of thy father should walk before me for ever, but now the LORD said, It shall never be; for those that honor me I will honor, and those that lightly esteem me shall be vile.

¹⁴ Because he has set his will upon me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known my name.

²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

¹ ¶ Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth while the evil days do not come nor the years draw near when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

¹⁹ I have not spoken in secret in a dark place of the earth. Not without substance did I say unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me; I am the LORD who speaks righteousness, who declares things that are right.

⁶ ¶ Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near:

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

⁷ ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; ⁸ for every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

¹⁴ And Jesus seeing it, became angry and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me and hinder them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.

²¹ He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, He who loves me will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him and dwell with him.

²⁷ for the Father himself loves you because ye have loved me and have believed that I came out from God.

¹⁹ We love him, because he first loved us.

⁶ Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; thy judgments are a great deep; O LORD, thou dost preserve man and beast.

³ He Wealth and riches shall be in his house; Vau and his righteousness endures for ever.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. ⁸ Grow in wisdom, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou hast embraced her. ⁹ She shall give to thine head an increase of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

⁴ ¶ Riches shall not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness shall deliver from death.

¹⁴ which are lost by evil pursuits and to the sons which he has begotten; there is nothing left in his hand. ¹⁵ As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁶ And this also is a sore evil; that in all points as he came, so shall he go; and what profit has he that has laboured for the wind?

¹⁹ ¶ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal;

⁴² but only one thing is necessary, and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

²⁰ But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast stored up? ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself and is not rich in God.

³³ Sell what ye have and give alms; {lit. do acts of mercy}; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches neither moth corrupts.

¹¹ If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true? ¹² And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

⁸ Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Christ

¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁷ Charge those that are rich in this world, that they not be highminded, not placing their hope in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy; ¹⁸ but charge them to do good, that they be rich in good works, liberal to distribute, willing to communicate, ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the future, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?

¹ ¶ Come now, Oh ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are rotten, and your garments are motheaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corrupted with rust; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you and shall completely eat your flesh, as fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold refined in the fire, that thou may be made rich; and clothed in white raiment, so that the shame of thy nakedness not be uncovered; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou may see.

¹⁴ for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold.

¹⁰ Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold.

¹² For knowledge is a defence, and money is a defence; but wisdom excels in that it gives life to those that have it.

³² Ye shall observe to do, therefore, as the LORD your God has commanded you; ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

³ He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

⁴ Daleth Show me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. ⁵ He Cause me to walk in thy truth and teach me: for thou art the God of my saving health; I have waited for thee all the day.

⁸ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will fix mine eyes upon thee.

⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

¹¹ I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have caused thee to walk in right paths. ¹² When thou goest in these paths, thy steps shall not be hindered; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

²⁵ Let thine eyes look upon that which is right, and let thine eyelids straighten thy path before thee. ²⁶ Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. ²⁷ Turn not to the right hand nor to the left; remove thy foot from evil.

²² When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

³ And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

¹⁰ They shall never hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water he shall feed them.

⁴ Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a captain and teacher to the peoples.

³ To him the porter opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; ²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone pluck them out of my hand.

¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall govern them and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

¹⁴ and also that nation, whom they shall serve, I will judge; and afterward shall they come out with great riches.

⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them.

¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

¹³ We shall find all kinds of riches, we shall fill our houses with spoil.

³¹ and once he is taken, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

¹⁸ Riches and honour are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness.

⁴ And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and beautiful riches.

⁴⁶ And they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

¹ ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with the God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men. ⁵ ¶ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not. ⁶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. ⁷ The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. ⁸ He was not the Light, but was sent to bear witness of the Light. ⁹ That Word was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into this world. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. ¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not. ¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name, ¹³ who are not born of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ ¶ John bore witness of him and cried, saying, This is he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me. ¹⁶ And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses, but the grace and the truth of God came through Jesus, the Christ. ¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

¹⁷ ¶ and if sons, also heirs certainly of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him that we may be also glorified together with him.

¹⁹ and to know the charity of the Christ, which passes all knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. ²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

³⁴ For ye had compassion of me in my bonds and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing that in yourselves ye have a better substance in the heavens, and that abides.

⁴ unto the incorruptible inheritance that cannot be defiled and that does not fade away, conserved in the heavens for you,

⁷ He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

²⁶ when he made a law for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunders. ²⁷ Then he saw it and counted it; he prepared it and also searched it out. ²⁸ And unto man he said, Behold, that the fear of the Lord, is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

¹⁹ The LORD by wisdom has founded the earth; by intelligence has he established the heavens.

¹ ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with the God.

¹⁷ And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

²⁶ ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the beasts and over all the earth and over every serpent that moves upon the earth.

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness.

² But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be Lord in Israel; and his goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of the ages.

⁵ And now, O Father, clarify thou me with thine own self with that clarity which I had with thee before the world was.

²⁴ ¶ Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am, that they may behold my clarity, which thou hast given me, for thou hast loved me from before the foundation of the world.

¹⁰ that in the dispensation of the fulfillment of the times he might restore all things by the Christ, both those which are in heaven and those which are on earth, ¹¹ in him in whom likewise we have obtained an inheritance, having had the way marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will,

¹ ¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life ² (for the life is manifested, and we also saw it and bear witness and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father and appeared unto us);

² And the earth was without order, and empty; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

⁷ ¶ I will declare the decree; the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day I have begotten thee.

²⁰ By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the heavens drop down the dew.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

²⁰ For the Father loves the Son and shows him all the things that he does, and he will show him greater works than these that ye may marvel.

⁵ For unto which of the angels did he say at any time, Thou art my Son, this day I have begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

⁹ In this was the charity of God demonstrated in us, in that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

⁷ Wast thou born before Adam? Or wast thou formed before the hills? ⁸ Hast thou heard the secret of God, that thou dost detain wisdom in thee alone?

⁴ ¶ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Cause me to know, if thou hast understanding. ⁵ Who ordered its dimensions, if thou knowest? Or who has stretched the line upon it? ⁶ Upon what are its foundations founded? Or who laid its corner stone; ⁷ when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, ¹⁰ and established my decree upon it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ and said, Thou shalt come unto here, but no further; and there shall the pride of thy waves be stayed.

² Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

²⁵ Of old thou hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the work of thy hands. ²⁶ They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed: ²⁷ But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. ²⁸ The sons of thy slaves shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

¹⁰ And Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

¹ ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ² And the earth was without order, and empty; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. ³ ¶ And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. ⁴ And God saw that the light was good, and God divided the light from the darkness. ⁵ And God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. ⁶ ¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. ⁷ And God made a firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. ⁸ And God called the firmament Heavens. And the evening and the morning were the second day. ⁹ ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear; and it was so. ¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas; and God saw that it was good. ¹¹ And God said, Let the earth bring forth green grass, herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its nature, whose seed is in itself upon the earth; and it was so. ¹² And the earth brought forth green grass and herb yielding seed after its kind and the tree yielding fruit whose seed was in itself, according to its nature; and God saw that it was good. ¹³ And the evening and the morning were the third day. ¹⁴ ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for appointed times and for days and years; ¹⁵ and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth; and it was so. ¹⁶ And God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; he made the stars also. ¹⁷ And God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light upon the earth ¹⁸ and to rule over the day and over the night and to divide the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. ¹⁹ And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. ²⁰ ¶ And God said, Let the waters bring forth great quantities of creatures with living souls and fowl that may fly above the earth upon the face of the firmament of the heavens. ²¹ And God created the great dragons and every living soul that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly after their nature, and every winged fowl after its nature; and God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. ²³ And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. ²⁴ ¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living soul after its nature, beasts and serpents and animals of the earth after its nature; and it was so. ²⁵ And God made the beast of the earth after its kind and cattle after their kind and every thing that moves upon the earth after its kind; and God saw that it was good. ²⁶ ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the beasts and over all the earth and over every serpent that moves upon the earth. ²⁷ So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every beast that moves upon the earth. ²⁹ ¶ And God said, Behold, I have given you every grass bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food. ³⁰ And to every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air and to every thing that moves upon the earth, in which there is a living soul, I have given all green grass for food; and it was so. ³¹ ¶ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

¹⁰ He has compassed the waters with bounds until the end of light and darkness.

⁶ By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

¹⁹ ¶ The LORD has prepared his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

⁵ To him that by intelligence made the heavens: for his mercy endures for ever.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

²² He is seated upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; he stretches out the heavens as a curtain and spreads them out as a tent to dwell in:

¹² He that makes the earth by his power, he that orders the world with his wisdom and extends the heavens with his intelligence:

¹⁶ for by him were all things created, that are in the heavens and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones or dominions or principalities or powers: all things were created by him and in him;

² has in these last times spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the ages;

⁹ ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear; and it was so. ¹⁰ And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas; and God saw that it was good.

⁷ He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; he lays up the deeps for treasures.

⁵ who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved by any age.

⁹ Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they not turn again to cover the earth.

²² Do ye not fear me? saith the LORD; will ye not tremble at my presence, who placed the sand for the bound of the sea by an eternal order, which cannot be broken? Storms shall raise themselves up, yet they shall not prevail; their waves shall roar, yet they shall not pass over it.

¹ ¶ Behold my slave, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he shall give judgment unto the Gentiles.

¹⁷ and, behold, a voice from the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

¹ ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with the God. ³ All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

¹⁸ No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.

²⁸ Father, clarify thy name. Then there came a voice from the heaven, saying, I have clarified it and will clarify it again.

²⁸ ¶ I came forth from the Father and am come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.

¹³ who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son,

³ to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent: all my delight is towards them.

⁶ ¶ Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened; burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. ⁷ Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me, ⁸ I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my bowels.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.

¹ ¶ Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be enriched.

¹ ¶ Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. ⁴ ¶ The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

¹ ¶ ALEPH. Blessed are those who walk in the perfect way, who walk in the law of the LORD. ² Blessed are those that keep his testimonies and that seek him with their whole heart.

¹ A Song of degrees. ¶ Blessed is every one that fears the LORD, that walks in his ways.

⁷ Hear me now therefore, O ye sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.

²⁴ ¶ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye sons, and attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁸ But he said, Rather, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it.

¹¹ But my people did not hearken to my voice, and Israel did not love me. ¹² So I gave them up unto the hardness of their heart, and they walked in their own counsels.

² to know wisdom and chastening; to understand prudent words; ³ to receive the chastening of prudence, justice, judgment, and equity;

⁸ My son, hearken unto the chastening of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

²¹ She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the entrance to the gates of the city she utters her words, saying,

¹ ¶ Hearken, ye sons, unto the chastening of the father, and pay attention that ye might know understanding.

¹ ¶ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my intelligence;

³⁵ This Moses, whom they had refused, saying, Who made thee a prince and a judge? the same did God send as prince and redeemer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush. ³⁶ He brought them out, showing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years. ³⁷ This is that Moses, who said unto the sons of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren like unto me; him shall ye hear.

¹⁶ But not everyone hearkens unto the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report? ¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and the ear to hear by the word of God.

²⁵ See that you do not refuse him that speaks. For if those who refused him that spoke on earth did not escape, much less shall we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from the heavens,

⁴ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple.

¹⁰ for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand outside of them. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

¹³ Those that are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

³ yea, if thou criest for understanding and givest thy voice unto intelligence, ⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures,

¹³ ¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence,

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

²⁴ Therefore, whosoever hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock;

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord, blameless.

³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word.

³¹ ¶ Then Jesus said to those Jews who had believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye shall be my disciples indeed; ³² and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

⁴² ¶ And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers.

¹¹ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all diligence and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. ¹² Therefore many of them believed, also of honourable women who were Greeks and of men, not a few.

²² But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if anyone hears the word and does not put it into practice, this same is like unto the man beholding his natural face in a mirror: ²⁴ For he considered himself and went his way and in one hour forgot what he was like. ²⁵ But whosoever has looked attentively into the perfect law of liberty and has persevered in it, not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, the same shall be blessed in their deed.

³³ But whosoever hearkens unto me shall dwell safely and shall rest from the fear of evil.

¹³ ¶ Blessed is the man that has found wisdom and who brings to light intelligence, ¹⁴ for the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver and the fruits thereof more than fine gold. ¹⁵ She is more precious than precious stones, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. ¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour. ¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. ¹⁸ She is a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her, and blessed is every one that retains her.

²² For they are life unto those that find them and medicine to all their flesh.

² ¶ The good man shall attain the favour of the LORD, but the man of wicked thoughts he will condemn.

³⁶ He that believes in the Son has eternal life, and he that does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he has made us accepted in the beloved;

⁸ And doubtless I even count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ

³ For ye are dead and your life is hid with the Christ in God.

¹¹ And this is the witness, that God has given eternal life to us, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that has the Son has life; and he that does not have the Son of God does not have life.

³¹ Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own counsel.

¹¹ and thou mourn at the last when thy flesh and thy body are consumed ¹² and say, How have I hated chastening and my heart despised reproof

²² His own iniquities shall take hold of the wicked, and he shall be imprisoned with the cords of his sins. ²³ He shall die because he did not submit to chastening; and due to the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

¹ ¶ Whosoever loves chastening loves knowledge, but he that hates reproof is carnal.

³² ¶ He that refuses chastening despises his own soul, but he that hears reproof has an understanding heart.

² ¶ The fear of the king is as the roaring of a lion; whoever provokes him to anger sins against his own soul.

⁶ ¶ The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of those that seek death.

³¹ Cast away from you all your iniquities by which ye have rebelled, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

¹¹ Say unto them, As I live, said the Lord GOD, I do not desire the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and that he live; turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness more than the light because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

²³ He that hates me hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them works which no other man has done, they would not have sin; but now they have seen them and hate both me and my Father.

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas speaking with freedom, said, It was necessary indeed that the word of God should first have been spoken to you; but seeing ye put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

²² If any man does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema. Our Lord has come.

³ how shall we escape, if we belittle such great saving health? Which, having begun to be published by the Lord, has been confirmed unto us by those that heard him,

²⁹ Of how much greater punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
