¹⁹ They made a calf in Horeb and worshipped the molten image.

⁴ who took them from their hands and fashioned it with a graving tool and made of it a molten calf. Then they said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. ⁵ And seeing this, Aaron built an altar before the calf; and Aaron made a proclamation and said, Tomorrow shall be a feast unto the LORD. ⁶ And they rose up early on the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink and rose up to play. ⁷ ¶ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go, descend; for thy people, which thou didst bring out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: ⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molten calf and have worshipped it and have sacrificed unto it and said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

³⁵ And the LORD smote the people because they had made the calf, which Aaron formed.

⁸ Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

¹² And the LORD said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from here, for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molten image. ¹³ Furthermore, the LORD spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people. ¹⁴ Let me alone that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they. ¹⁵ So I turned and came down from the mount with the two tables of the covenant in my two hands and the mount burned with fire, ¹⁶ and I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God and had made yourselves a molten calf; ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.

²¹ And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire and stamped it and ground it very small even until it was as small as dust, and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.

¹⁸ Even when they had made themselves a molten calf and said, This is thy God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had committed great abominations;

⁴¹ And then they made a calf and offered sacrifice unto the idol and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

⁷ Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
