¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David, the slave of the LORD, who spoke unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, ¶ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. ² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. ³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, so shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁴ The pain of death compassed me, and the rivers of Belial made me afraid. ⁵ The pain of Sheol compassed me about: the snares of death came before me. ⁶ In my distress I called upon the LORD and cried unto my God; he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. ⁷ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the mountains collapsed and were removed because he was wroth. ⁸ Smoke went up out of his nostrils, and fire devoured out of his mouth; coals were kindled by it. ⁹ He lowered the heavens and came down; and darkness was under his feet. ¹⁰ And he rode upon a cherub and flew: yea, he flew upon the wings of the wind. ¹¹ He made darkness his hiding place; in his tabernacle round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the heavens. ¹² At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. ¹³ The LORD thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. ¹⁴ He sent out his arrows and scattered them; he shot out lightnings and destroyed them. ¹⁵ Then the depths of the waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. ¹⁶ He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. ¹⁷ He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated me, even though they were too strong for me. ¹⁸ They were ready for me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my staff. ¹⁹ He brought me forth also into a wide place; he delivered me because he delighted in me. ²⁰ ¶ The LORD will reward me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he shall recompense me. ²¹ Because I have kept the ways of the LORD and did not become wicked departing in apostasy from my God. ²² For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. ²³ I was perfect before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁴ Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes. ²⁵ With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with a perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect; ²⁶ with the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt show thyself adversary. ²⁷ Therefore thou wilt save the humble people; but wilt bring down high looks. ²⁸ For thou wilt light my fire: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. ²⁹ ¶ For with thee I have scattered armies; and in my God I have overcome walled defenses. ³⁰ As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is precise: a shield to all those that wait in him. ³¹ For who is God except the LORD? or who is a refuge except our God? ³² It is God that girds me with strength and makes my way perfect. ³³ He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places. ³⁴ He trains my hands for the battle, so that a bow of bronze shall be broken by my arms. ³⁵ In the same manner thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand will hold me up, and thy meekness shall multiply me. ³⁶ Thou shall enlarge my steps under me, and my knees shall not tremble. ³⁷ I shall pursue my enemies and overtake them: neither shall I turn again until they are consumed. ³⁸ I shall smite them, and they will not be able to rise: they shall fall under my feet. ³⁹ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued my enemies under me. ⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy those that hate me. ⁴¹ They cried out, but there was no one to save them: even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴² Then I beat them as small as the dust before the wind: I scattered them as the dirt in the streets. ⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the Gentiles: a people whom I did not know served me. ⁴⁴ As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me: the sons of strangers submitted themselves unto me even against their will. ⁴⁵ The strangers fell away and were afraid in their close places. ⁴⁶ The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. ⁴⁷ It is God that avenges me and subdues the peoples under me. ⁴⁸ He delivers me from my enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the one who would betray me. ⁴⁹ Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the Gentiles and sing praises unto thy name. ⁵⁰ He gives great deliverance to his king and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

¹ ¶ Then Moses and the sons of Israel sang this song unto the LORD and spoke, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. ² The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my saving health; he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. ³ The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name. ⁴ Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he has cast into the sea; his chosen princes also are drowned in the Red sea. ⁵ The depths have covered them; they sank into the bottom as a stone. ⁶ Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power; thy right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces. ⁷ And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown those that rose up against thee; thou didst send forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. ⁸ And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. ¹⁰ Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them. They sank as lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, magnificent in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² Thou didst stretch out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed; thou hast guided them in thy strength unto the habitation of thy holiness. ¹⁴ The peoples shall hear and be afraid; sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling, shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone, until thy people pass over, O LORD, until the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. ¹⁷ Thou shalt bring them in and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place of thy dwelling which thou hast made ready, O LORD, in the Sanctuary of the Lord, which thy hands have established. ¹⁸ The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. ¹⁹ For Pharaoh went in on horseback with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the sons of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. ²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

¹ ¶ Then sang Deborah with Barak, the son of Abinoam, on that day, saying, ² Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. ³ Hear, O ye kings. Give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will praise the LORD God of Israel. ⁴ LORD, when thou didst go out of Seir, when thou didst march out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped; the clouds also dropped water. ⁵ The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel. ⁶ ¶ In the days of Shamgar, the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways ceased, and those that walked went astray through crooked paths. ⁷ The inhabitants of the villages ceased; they had ceased in Israel until I Deborah arose, I arose a mother in Israel. ⁸ When they chose new gods, the war was at the gates. Was there a shield or spear to be seen among forty thousand in Israel? ⁹ My heart is toward the princes of Israel, those that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD. ¹⁰ Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that preside in judgment, and walk by the way. ¹¹ Because of the noise of archers, taken from among those that draw water, there they shall retell the righteousnesses of the LORD, even the righteousnesses of his villages in Israel. Now shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates. ¹² ¶ Rise up, rise up, Deborah; rise up, rise up, sing a song. Stand up, Barak and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam. ¹³ Now he has made the remnant of the people to have dominion over the magnificent; the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty. ¹⁴ Out of Ephraim came his root against Amalek; after thee, came Benjamin, against thy peoples; out of Machir came down princes; and from Zebulun, those that handle the pen of the writer. ¹⁵ Also princes of Issachar were with Deborah; and Issachar, like Barak, went on foot into the valley. From the divisions of Reuben, great are the thoughts of the heart. ¹⁶ Why didst thou abide among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? From the divisions of Reuben great are the searchings of the heart. ¹⁷ Gilead remained on the other side of the Jordan, and why did Dan remain next to the ships? Asher continued on the sea shore and remained in his breaches. ¹⁸ Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field. ¹⁹ The kings came and fought; then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money. ²⁰ They fought from the heavens; the stars from their ways fought against Sisera. ²¹ The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. Tread down, O my soul, with strength. ²² Then were the hoofs of the horses broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones. ²³ Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof because they did not come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty. ²⁴ ¶ Blessed above women shall Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, be; blessed shall she be above women in the tent. ²⁵ He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth cream in a lordly dish. ²⁶ She put her hand to the stake, and her right hand to the workmen’s hammer, and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. ²⁷ At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down; at her feet he bowed, he fell; where he bowed, there he fell down dead. ²⁸ The mother of Sisera looked out the window and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? Why do the wheels of his chariots tarry? ²⁹ Her wise princesses answered her; and she even answered to herself, ³⁰ Have they not found spoil and are dividing it? To each man a damsel or two; to Sisera a spoil of different colours, a spoil of different colours of needlework, of different colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of those that take the spoil? ³¹ So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD, but let those that love thee be as the sun when he rises in all his might. And the land had rest forty years.

¹ ¶ And Hannah prayed and said, My heart rejoices in the LORD, my horn is exalted in the LORD; my mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I have rejoiced in thy saving health. ² There is none holy as the LORD, for there is none beside thee; neither is there any strong One like our God. ³ Do not multiply thyself speaking great and lofty things; let arrogant words cease from your mouth, for the LORD is the all-knowing God, and the magnificent works are his. ⁴ The bows of the mighty men have been broken, and the weak are girded with strength. ⁵ Those that were full have hired themselves out for bread, and those that were hungry ceased so that the barren has given birth to seven, and she that has many children is waxed feeble. ⁶ The LORD kills, and he gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. ⁷ The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them. ⁹ He keeps the feet of his saints, and the wicked perish in darkness, for no man shall prevail by their own strength. ¹⁰ LORD, thine adversaries shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven he shall thunder upon them. The LORD shall judge the ends of the earth, and he shall give strength unto his king and exalt the horn of his anointed. {Heb. Messiah}

¹ ¶ And David spoke the words of this song unto the LORD in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul. ² ¶ And he said, The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. ³ God is my Strong One; in him will I trust: he is my shield and the horn of my saving health; my defence and my refuge; my saviour, who shall save me from violence. ⁴ I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁵ When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of Belial made me afraid; ⁶ when the cords of Sheol compassed me about; the snares of death came before me; ⁷ in my distress I called upon the LORD and cried to my God, who heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry entered into his ears. ⁸ Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the heavens were moved and shook because he was wroth. ⁹ Smoke went up from his nostrils, and fire devoured out of his mouth; coals were kindled by it. ¹⁰ And he lowered the heavens and came down, and darkness was under his feet. ¹¹ And he rode upon a cherub and flew; and he appeared upon the wings of the wind. ¹² He placed darkness like tabernacles round about him, dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. ¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from the heavens, and the most High uttered his voice; ¹⁵ he sent out arrows and scattered them; he sent forth lightning, and consumed them. ¹⁶ Then the springs of the sea appeared and the foundations of the world were uncovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. ¹⁷ He extended his hand from above, he took me; he drew me out of the impetuous waters; ¹⁸ he delivered me from strong enemies, from those that hated me, who were stronger than I. ¹⁹ They came upon me unawares in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my stay. ²⁰ He brought me forth into a large place; he delivered me, because he had put his will in me. ²¹ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has recompensed me. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ For I have all his ordinances before me and am attentive to his statutes; I will not depart from them. ²⁴ And I was perfect before him and have kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore, the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes. ²⁶ With the merciful thou art good, and with the perfect thou art upright. ²⁷ With the pure thou art pure, and with the perverse thou art an adversary. ²⁸ Thou wilt save the poor in spirit; but thine eyes are upon the haughty that thou may bring them down. ²⁹ For thou art my lamp, O LORD, and the LORD gives light unto my darkness. ³⁰ For in thee I have run through a troop; with my God I have gone over the walls. ³¹ As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is purified; he is a shield to all those that trust in him. ³² For what God is there except the LORD? Or who is a Strong One, except our God? ³³ God is he who strengthens me with virtue; he who clears my way; ³⁴ he who makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and he who sets me upon my high places; ³⁵ he who trains my hands for war and causes my arms to break the bow of bronze. ³⁶ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy saving health, and thy meekness has multiplied me. ³⁷ Thou hast enlarged my steps under me so that my knees did not shake. ³⁸ I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them and did not return until I had consumed them. ³⁹ And I consumed them and wounded them, and they did not arise; they are fallen under my feet. ⁴⁰ For thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. ⁴¹ Thou hast given me the necks of my enemies, of those that hate me, that I might cut them off. ⁴² They looked, but there was no one to save them; even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth; I stamped them as the mire of the street and spread them abroad. ⁴⁴ Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of peoples; thou hast kept me to be head of the Gentiles; peoples whom I did not know have served me. ⁴⁵ The strangers trembled before my command; as soon as they heard, they obeyed me. ⁴⁶ The strangers withered away and trembled in their close places. ⁴⁷ The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God who is the rock of my salvation. ⁴⁸ The God who has given me revenge and who subjects the peoples under me, ⁴⁹ who brings me forth from among my enemies; thou hast lifted me up on high from among those that rose up against me; thou hast delivered me from the man of violence. ⁵⁰ Therefore, I will confess thee among the Gentiles, O LORD, and I will sing unto thy name. ⁵¹ He who makes great the saving health of his king and shows mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for ever.

³² It is God that girds me with strength and makes my way perfect.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him. ⁸ The LORD is the strength of his people, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

¹⁹ Koph Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD shall deliver him out of them all,

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David the slave of the LORD. ¶ The rebellion of the wicked saith to my heart that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

¹ ¶ I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. ² Because he has inclined his ear unto me, therefore I will call upon him all of my days. ³ The sorrows of death compassed me and the pains of Sheol found me; I encountered trouble and sorrow. ⁴ Then I called upon the name of the LORD, saying, O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. ⁵ Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. ⁶ The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and he saved me.

¹⁶ This is so, O LORD, because I am thy slave; I am thy slave, the son of thine handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds.

¹⁴ JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Blessed be the LORD my strength, who trains my hands for the battle and my fingers for the war: ² My mercy and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdues my people under me.

¹ ¶ And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will sing unto thee; though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou hast comforted me. ² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me. ³ Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of saving health. ⁴ ¶ And in that day ye shall say, Sing unto the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the peoples, remember how his name is exalted. ⁵ Sing psalms unto the LORD; for he has done excellent things; let this be known in all the earth. ⁶ Rejoice and sing, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

³⁶ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep and was gathered unto his fathers and saw corruption;

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹¹ strengthened with all might, according to the power of his glory unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness,

⁵ And Moses verily was faithful over all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after,

¹⁹ We love him, because he first loved us.

³ God is my Strong One; in him will I trust: he is my shield and the horn of my saving health; my defence and my refuge; my saviour, who shall save me from violence.

¹⁴ Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent unto me lest, if thou be silent unto me, I become like those that go down into the grave.

¹¹ Slay them not lest my people forget; scatter them by thy power and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

² He only is my rock and my saving health; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

⁷ In God is my saving health and my glory; the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.

¹⁰ And I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

² I will say of the LORD, He is my hope and my fortress: my God; in him will I secure myself.

⁴ He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings thou shalt be secure: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

¹⁷ There will I make the horn of David to bud; I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

² My mercy and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdues my people under me.

⁷ He keeps the person of the upright; he is a buckler to those that walk perfectly,

¹⁰ ¶ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous shall run into it, and be raised up.

² And that man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a hot land.

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the time of the affliction; Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit.

¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me.

⁴ I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.

⁵ Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever; and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.

² Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto thee will I pray. ³ My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; early will I present myself unto thee and wait.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent unto me lest, if thou be silent unto me, I become like those that go down into the grave. ² Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward the oracle of thy holiness.

¹ A Song and Psalm
for the sons of Korah. ¶ Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

¹⁵ and call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

¹⁶ ¶ As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me.

⁸ ¶ Wait in him at all times; ye peoples, pour out your heart before him; God is our refuge. Selah.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm and Song of David. ¶ Praise doth rest in thee, O God, in Sion and unto thee shall the vow be performed. ² O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

⁴ Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and glorify him.

⁴ For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.

³ Gimel Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all that hate us;

²¹ and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

³¹ ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who shall be against us? ³² He that did not spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also give us all things with him? ³³ Who shall accuse the chosen of God’s? God is he that justifies them. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns them? Christ, Jesus, is he who died and, even more, he that also rose again, who furthermore is at the right hand of God, who also makes entreaty for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the charity of Christ? shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? ³⁶ (As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.) ³⁷ Nevertheless, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. ³⁸ Therefore I am certain that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come ³⁹ nor height nor depth nor any creature shall be able to separate us from the charity of God, which is in Christ, Jesus our Lord.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

¹¹ Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and virtue; for thou hast created all things, and by thy will they have their being and were created.

¹² saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to take power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing. ¹³ And I heard every creature which is in heaven and upon the earth and under the earth and such as are upon the sea and all that are in it, saying, Blessing and honour and glory and power, be unto him that is seated upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. ¹⁴ And the four animals said, Amen. And the twenty-four elders fell on their faces and worshipped him that lives for ever and ever.

⁵ When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of Belial made me afraid; ⁶ when the cords of Sheol compassed me about; the snares of death came before me;

¹² Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round about. ¹³ They opened their mouth upon me as a ravening and a roaring lion.

¹⁶ For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

³ The sorrows of death compassed me and the pains of Sheol found me; I encountered trouble and sorrow.

⁴ then the waters would have overwhelmed us; the flood would have gone over our soul;

⁸ And they shall be filled with terror; anguish and pain shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travails: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

³ He is despised and rejected among men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with weakness; and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. ⁴ ¶ Surely he has borne our sicknesses and suffered our pain: and we considered him stricken, smitten of God, and cast down.

² and said, I cried by reason of my tribulation unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and thou didst hear my voice. ³ For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about; all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will see thy holy temple again. ⁵ The waters compassed me about, even to the soul, the depth closed me round about; the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I descended to the roots of the mountains; the earth put her bars about me for ever; yet thou hast brought up my life out of the grave, O LORD my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer entered in unto thee in thy holy temple.

³⁸ Then he said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death; tarry ye here and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little further and fell on his face, praying and saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

⁴⁷ ¶ And while he yet spoke, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the princes of the priests and elders of the people.

⁵⁵ In that same hour Jesus said to the multitude, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see ye to it. ²⁵ Then all the people answered and said, His blood be on us and on our children.

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads ⁴⁰ and saying, Thou that wouldst destroy the temple and build it in three days, save thyself. If thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}. ⁴¹ Likewise also the princes of the priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, ⁴² He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him, for he said, I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ The thieves also, who were crucified with him, reproached him with the same.

³³ And he takes with him Peter and James and John and began to be alarmed and to be anguished ³⁴ and said unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death; tarry ye here, and watch.

³⁰ So that all the city was moved, and the people ran together; and they took Paul and drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.

⁹ But we had the sentence of death in ourselves that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

¹³ For great is thy mercy upon me, and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest part of Sheol.

³ for my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near unto Sheol. ⁴ I am counted with those that go down into the pit; I am as a man that has no strength: ⁵ Freed among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou dost remember no more; and they are cut off from thy hand. ⁶ Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps. ⁷ Thy wrath lies hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah. ⁸ Thou hast put away mine acquaintances far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them; I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

¹⁵ I am afflicted and destitute; from my youth up I have feared thee and been in awe of thee. ¹⁶ Thy fierce wrath goes over me; thy terrors have cut me off. ¹⁷ They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.

¹² For man also does not know his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net and as the birds that are caught in the snare, so are the sons of men snared in the evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.

²⁴ whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible for him to be held by it.

²³ ¶ And it came to pass in process of time that the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God from their bondage.

⁷ in my distress I called upon the LORD and cried to my God, who heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry entered into his ears.

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens, the heavens of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built? ²⁸ Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy slave and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy slave prays before thee today, ²⁹ that thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there that thou may hearken unto the prayer which thy slave shall make in this place. ³⁰ Therefore, thou shalt hearken unto the supplication of thy slave and of thy people Israel when they shall pray in this place and hear in thy dwelling place, from the heavens; please hear and forgive.

²⁷ Then the priests, the Levites, arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to the dwelling place of his sanctuary, unto heaven.

⁷ ¶ But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear I will worship toward thy holy temple.

⁴ ¶ The LORD is in the temple of his holiness, the LORD’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men.

³ I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, so shall I be saved from my enemies. ⁴ The pain of death compassed me, and the rivers of Belial made me afraid.

⁴ One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the LORD and to enquire in his temple. ⁵ For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; in the secret of his tent shall he hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock.

¹⁹ And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple: and there were lightnings and voices and thunderings and earthquakes and great hail.

²² For fire shall be kindled in my anger and shall burn unto the lowest part of Sheol and shall consume the earth with her fruit and burn up the foundations of the mountains.

⁴ LORD, when thou didst go out of Seir, when thou didst march out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped; the clouds also dropped water.

² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea,

⁷ ¶ O God, when thou didst go forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah: ⁸ The earth shook, the heavens also dropped their rain at the presence of God; even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

⁴ The mountains skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs. ⁵ What came upon thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee? And thou O Jordan, that thou wast driven back? ⁶ Ye mountains, why didst ye skip like rams and ye little hills, like lambs? ⁷ At the presence of the Lord, the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

²⁴ I beheld the mountains, and, behold, they trembled, and all the hills were destroyed.

¹⁹ For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath I have spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking upon the land of Israel, ²⁰ so that the fishes of the sea and the fowls of the heaven and the beasts of the field and every serpent that walks by dragging itself upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake before my presence, and the mountains shall be ruined, and the stairs shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

⁶ He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

¹⁰ The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands.

⁴ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, making a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north and half of it toward the south.

² And, behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it.

³¹ And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

²⁵ ¶ But at midnight as Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God, and the prisoners heard them, ²⁶ then suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

² And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

²⁸ And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of that plain and beheld that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

² And there went out fire from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass that the people complained in an evil manner in the ears of the LORD, and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled, and the fire of the LORD burnt among them and consumed in the uttermost parts of the camp.

³⁵ ¶ And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

²⁰ The LORD will not forgive him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.

²³ and that the whole land thereof is brimstone and salt and burning, that it is not sown, nor shall it produce anything, nor shall any grass grow therein, like in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and in his wrath; ²⁴ even all Gentiles shall say, Why has the LORD done thus unto this land? What means the heat of this great anger?

⁶ Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, with winds of whirlwinds: this shall be the portion of their cup.

⁹ Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

³ Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

¹ Maschil of Asaph. ¶ O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? Why does thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

³² He looks on the earth, and it trembles: he touches the mountains, and they smoke.

⁵ Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke. ⁶ Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out thine arrows and destroy them.

¹⁰ A river of fire issued and came forth from before him; thousands of thousands served him, and ten thousands of ten thousands stood before him; the Judge sat down, and the books were opened.

¹¹ I have overthrown some of you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the fire; and ye never returned unto me, said the LORD.

⁵ The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, and the world and all that dwell therein. ⁶ Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

⁵ And if anyone desires to hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies; and if anyone desires to hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

²² These words the LORD spoke unto all your congregation in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice, and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone and delivered them unto me. ²³ ¶ And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness and saw the mountain that burned with fire that ye came near unto me, even all the princes of your tribes and your elders;

²⁶ ¶ There is no other like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rides upon the heavens for thy help, in the clouds with his excellency.

⁶ Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and those that dwell therein shall perish in like manner; but my saving health shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall never perish.

¹⁶ The LORD also shall roar out of Zion and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake; but the LORD will be the hope of his people and the strength of the sons of Israel.

²⁹ Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

³³ ¶ And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou dost not understand now, but thou shalt understand afterwards.

²⁶ whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying, Yet even once, I shall shake not the earth only, but also the heaven.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements, burning, shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works that are in it shall be burned up.

A testimony of Asaph: A Psalm. ¶ Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ ¶ The LORD reigns; the peoples shall tremble; he who sits above the cherubim reigns; the earth shall be moved.

³ who dost establish his chambers between the waters, who makes the clouds his chariot, who walks upon the wings of the wind,

⁵ Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of man. ⁶ And each one had four faces, and four wings. ⁷ And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like the colour of highly burnished brass. ⁸ And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and their faces and their wings on all four sides. ⁹ With their wings they joined one to another; they did not return when they went; they went each one straight in the direction they were facing. ¹⁰ And the likeness of their faces was human faces; and lion faces, on the right side; and they four had ox faces on the left side; likewise they four had eagle faces. ¹¹ Thus were their faces; and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of each one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. ¹² And they went each one straight forward in the direction they were facing: wherever the Spirit directed them to go, they went; and they did not return when they went. ¹³ As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire and like the appearance of lit torches; the fire went up and down among the living creatures and the brightness of the fire; and out of the fire went forth lightning. ¹⁴ And the living creatures ran and turned as the appearance of lightnings.

²⁰ These were the living creatures that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. ²¹ Each one had four faces, and each one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. ²² And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearance and their being; each one went straight in the direction they were facing.

¹¹ And ye came near and stood under the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of the heavens, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.

⁵ For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; in the secret of his tent shall he hide me; he shall set me high upon a rock.

⁷ Thou didst call in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

¹ ¶ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

² Clouds and darkness are round about him; righteousness and judgment are the seat of his throne.

² a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of shadow that spreads itself upon the mountains as the dawn: a people great and strong; there has not ever been the like, neither shall there be any more after him, even to the years of many generations.

²³ And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven, and the LORD raised his voice and it hailed, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. ²⁴ So there was hail and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became inhabited.

¹¹ And when they were fleeing from before Israel in the descent to Bethhoron, the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died; there were more who died from the hailstones than those whom the sons of Israel slew with the sword.

¹³ From the brightness of his presence, coals of fire were kindled. ¹⁴ The LORD thundered from the heavens, and the most High uttered his voice; ¹⁵ he sent out arrows and scattered them; he sent forth lightning, and consumed them.

³ A fire shall go before him and burn up his enemies round about. ⁴ His lightnings enlightened the world; the earth saw and trembled.

² who dost cover thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain,

⁴ And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand; and there was hidden his strength. ⁵ Before his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet.

² and [he] was transfigured before them, and his face shined as the sun, and his raiment was as white as the light.

⁵ While he yet spoke, behold, a cloud of light overshadowed them, and, behold, a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

²¹ And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

¹⁸ ¶ And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.

²⁴ They shall be consumed with hunger and devoured with burning heat and with bitter destruction; I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

¹⁰ And it came to pass as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering that the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines and crushed them, and they were smitten before Israel.

⁹ Hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

³ The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters. ⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

⁴⁸ He gave up their cattle also to the hail and their flocks to thunderbolts of fire.

⁷ At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

³ What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? ⁴ Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

¹⁰ Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, that they not rise up again.

⁵ And the thunder of the cherubim’s wings was heard even to the outer court as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaks.

⁵ Before his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet.

²⁹ The people, therefore, that were present and heard it, said that it thundered; others said, An angel spoke to him.

⁵ And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices; and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

⁵ And the angel took the censer and filled it with fire of the altar and cast it into the earth; and there were voices and thunderings and lightnings and an earthquake.

⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great company and as the voice of many waters and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Halelu-JAH; for the Lord God almighty reigns.

⁸ God brought him forth out of Egypt; he has, as it were, the strength of a unicorn; he shall eat up the Gentiles his enemies and shall break their bones and pierce them through with his arrows.

²³ I will heap evils upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them.

⁴² I will make my arrows drunk with blood and my sword shall devour flesh, in the blood of the slain and of the captives of the heads, in revenge as an enemy.

¹⁰ And the LORD discomfited them before Israel and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon and chased them along the way that goes up to Bethhoron and smote them to Azekah and unto Makkedah.

⁴ For the arrows of the Almighty are within me; my spirit drinks of the poison; and terrors of God combat me.

³⁵ Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?

⁹ Hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him? ¹⁰ Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. ¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath; and behold every one that is proud and bring him down. ¹² Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

¹² Therefore shalt thou separate them; thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.

¹⁷ The clouds poured out floods of waters; the heavens thundered; thy bolts of lightning also went forth.

⁶ Cast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out thine arrows and destroy them.

³⁰ And the LORD shall cause the power of his voice to be heard and shall cause the lighting down of his arm to be seen, with the indignation of his countenance and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering and tempest and hailstones.

¹¹ The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

¹⁴ And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the shofar and shall go forth as the whirlwinds of the south. ¹⁵ The LORD of the hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink and make a noise as though drunk with wine; and they shall be filled like bowls and as the corners of the altar.

⁸ And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as a heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

¹³ And when the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off; for the waters that come down from above shall stand in a heap. ¹⁴ ¶ And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents to pass the Jordan and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people, ¹⁵ when those that bore the ark entered into the Jordan, as soon as the feet of the priests that bore the ark were dipped in the brim of the water (for Jordan overflows all its banks all the time of harvest), ¹⁶ that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far from the city of Adam, that is beside Zaretan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed and were cut off; and the people passed over right against Jericho.

¹⁶ Then the springs of the sea appeared and the foundations of the world were uncovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

⁷ Behold, I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumour and shall return to his own land, and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

⁹ By the breath of God they perish, and by the spirit of his anger they are consumed.

⁴ ¶ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Cause me to know, if thou hast understanding. ⁵ Who ordered its dimensions, if thou knowest? Or who has stretched the line upon it? ⁶ Upon what are its foundations founded? Or who laid its corner stone;

¹⁵ Thou didst cleave the fountain and the river; thou didst dry up mighty rivers.

⁶ At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

⁵ who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved by any age.

⁹ He reprehended the Red sea also, and it was dried up, so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

⁴ But with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the spirit of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

²⁷ ¶ Behold, the name of the LORD comes from afar; his face is blazing and difficult to gaze upon: his lips are full of indignation and his tongue as a devouring fire: ²⁸ And his Spirit, as an overflowing stream, shall break even unto the neck to sift the Gentiles with the sieve of vanity and to put a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

³³ For Tophet is ordained of yesterday for the king of Babylon, it is also prepared; he has deepened and enlarged the pile of her fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD like a stream of brimstone kindles it.

³⁷ Thus hath the LORD said: If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, said the LORD.

⁶ I descended to the roots of the mountains; the earth put her bars about me for ever; yet thou hast brought up my life out of the grave, O LORD my God.

² Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD’s controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will reprove Israel.

¹⁰ And when the child grew, she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, for she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

¹⁷ He extended his hand from above, he took me; he drew me out of the impetuous waters;

⁴³ Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the Gentiles: a people whom I did not know served me.

⁶ For this shall every one that is merciful pray unto thee in the time when thou may be found; surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him.

¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ I waited patiently for the LORD, and he inclined unto me and heard my cry. ² He brought me up also out of the pit of hopelessness, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and straightened my steps. ³ And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see it and fear and shall wait on the LORD.

³ He shall send from the heavens and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

⁷ Send thine hand from above; redeem me and deliver me out of many waters, from the hand of the strange sons,

⁵ The waters compassed me about, even to the soul, the depth closed me round about; the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I descended to the roots of the mountains; the earth put her bars about me for ever; yet thou hast brought up my life out of the grave, O LORD my God.

¹⁵ And he said unto me, The waters which thou hast seen, where the whore sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

¹ ¶ And David spoke the words of this song unto the LORD in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul.

¹⁸ he delivered me from strong enemies, from those that hated me, who were stronger than I.

⁹ His wrath has torn me and has been against me; he gnashed upon me with his teeth; my enemy sharpened his eyes upon me.

¹³ Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer from those that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:

⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy those that hate me. ⁴¹ They cried out, but there was no one to save them: even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them.

¹⁹ Resh Consider my enemies, for they are multiplied; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

¹⁰ All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, who delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him?

¹⁹ For my enemies are alive, and they are strong, and those that hate me wrongfully are multiplied;

⁴ Those that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; those that would destroy me, being my enemies wrongfully, are mighty; then I restored that which I did not take away. ⁵ O God, thou knowest my foolishness, and my guiltiness is not hid from thee. ⁶ Do not let those that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of the hosts, be ashamed for my sake; do not let those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. ⁷ Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame has covered my face. ⁸ I am become a stranger unto my brethren and an alien unto my mother’s sons. ⁹ For the zeal of thy house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those that reproached thee are fallen upon me. ¹⁰ When I wept with fasting of my soul, thou hast been a reproach unto me. ¹¹ I made sackcloth also my garment, and I became a proverb to them. ¹² They that sat in the gate spoke against me, and I was the song of the drunkards. ¹³ ¶ But I corrected my prayer unto thee, O LORD, in the time of thy good pleasure; O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy saving health. ¹⁴ Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not drown; let me be delivered from those that hate me and out of the deep waters.

⁷ The LORD takes my part with those that help me; therefore I shall see my desire upon those that hate me.

⁶ Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

¹⁰ ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the lords of this age, rulers of this darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens.

¹⁴ ¶ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same, that through death he might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and deliver those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery.

³⁵ Vengeance and recompense are mine, in the time when their foot shall slide; for the day of their calamity is at hand and that which is determined upon them makes haste.

⁶ And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him because the soul of all the people was bitter, each one for his sons and for his daughters; but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

¹⁹ They came upon me unawares in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my stay.

¹ To the Overcomer:
for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in tribulation. ² Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea,

¹¹ The LORD of the hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

¹⁶ But I will sing of thy power; I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning, for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

¹⁷ I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will show them the back, and not the face, in the day of their perdition.

¹⁰ ¶ For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. ¹¹ In the day that thou didst stand on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them. ¹² But thou should not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither should thou have rejoiced over the sons of Judah in the day they were lost; neither should thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress. ¹³ Thou should not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; thou should not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity; ¹⁴ neither should thou have stood in the crossway, to kill those of his that did escape; neither should thou have delivered up those of his that remained in the day of distress. ¹⁵ And I am very sore displeased with the Gentiles that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.

¹⁸ he delivered me from strong enemies, from those that hated me, who were stronger than I. ¹⁹ They came upon me unawares in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my stay. ²⁰ He brought me forth into a large place; he delivered me, because he had put his will in me. ²¹ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has recompensed me. ²² For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²³ For I have all his ordinances before me and am attentive to his statutes; I will not depart from them. ²⁴ And I was perfect before him and have kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁵ Therefore, the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to my cleanness before his eyes. ²⁶ With the merciful thou art good, and with the perfect thou art upright. ²⁷ With the pure thou art pure, and with the perverse thou art an adversary.

⁹ Blessed be the LORD thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel; because the LORD has always loved Israel, therefore he made thee king, to do justice and righteousness.

¹⁶ Likewise, he would have removed thee out of the mouth of anguish into a broad place where there is no distress and should have set thy table full of fatness.

³⁶ Thou shall enlarge my steps under me, and my knees shall not tremble.

⁸ and hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; thou hast set my feet in a wide place.

²³ Mem The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and he delights in his way.

² He brought me up also out of the pit of hopelessness, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock and straightened my steps.

⁵ From a tight place I called upon JAH; and JAH answered me and set me in a wide place.

¹¹ Moreover, my father, see; see the skirt of thy robe is even in my hand, for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe and did not kill thee, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou doest hunt my life to take it. ¹² The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee, but my hand shall not be upon thee. ¹³ As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceeds from the wicked, but my hand shall not be upon thee.

¹⁷ And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I, for thou hast repaid me with good, whereas I have repaid thee with evil.

¹⁹ For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away safe and sound? The LORD reward thee with good for that which thou hast done unto me this day. ²⁰ And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king and that the kingdom of Israel shall be firm and stable in thy hand.

³⁰ He shall deliver the island of the innocent; and in the pureness of thine hands thou shalt be kept.

³ O LORD my God, if I have done this: if there is iniquity in my hands,

⁸ The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.

²⁴ Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes.

⁴ He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not taken my name in vain, nor sworn deceitfully.

⁶ ¶ I will wash my hands in innocency, so I will walk near unto thine altar, O LORD:

¹¹ So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges in the earth.

¹⁸ ¶ The wicked works a deceitful work, but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward.

⁴ But I said, I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is before the LORD and my recompense with my God.

¹¹ Behold, the LORD has caused it to be heard unto the end of the earth; Say unto the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy Saviour comes; behold that his reward is with him, and his work before him.

⁴ that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father who sees in secret, he shall reward thee openly.

⁸ Now he that plants and he that waters are one although each one shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

²⁶ For it was expedient that we have such a high priest, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens,

¹¹ It grieves me that I have set up Saul to be king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments. And it incensed Samuel, and he cried unto the LORD all night.

³³ And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the lands that pertained to the sons of Israel and made all that were present in Israel serve the LORD their God only. And all his days they did not depart from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.

⁴ Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have observed the ways of the violent.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity; I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

¹⁰ ¶ With my whole heart I have sought thee; O let me not err from thy commandments. ¹¹ ¶ Thy spoken word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.

¹⁰² ¶ I have not departed from thy judgments, for thou hast taught me.

³² ¶ Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye sons; for blessed are those that keep my ways.

¹⁶ And for this reason do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men.

¹⁰ Ye are witnesses, and God also, of how holy and just and irreprehensible our behaviour was among you that believe,

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us; but this happened that it might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹³ ¶ With my lips I have declared all the judgments of thy mouth.

³⁰ ¶ I have chosen the way of truth; I have laid thy judgments before me.

¹¹² I have inclined my heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end.

¹¹⁷ Hold me up, and I shall be saved, and I shall delight in thy statutes continually.

¹²⁸ Therefore I have esteemed all thy precepts concerning all things to be right and I have hated every false way.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole; sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

²³ The LORD render to each one his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the LORD delivered thee into my hand today, but I would not stretch forth my hand against the LORD’s anointed.

¹⁷ I know also, my God, that thou dost try the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now have I seen with joy that thy people, who are present here, have given willingly unto thee.

¹ Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. ¶ O LORD my God, in thee I have put my trust: save me from all those that persecute me, and deliver me ² Lest they take my soul, as a lion dismembers his prey when there is none to deliver. ³ O LORD my God, if I have done this: if there is iniquity in my hands, ⁴ if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me, then let my persecutor escape without retribution. ⁵ Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; let him tread down my life upon the earth and lay my honour in the dust. Selah. ⁶ Arise, O LORD, in thine anger; lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake the judgment in my favour that thou hast commanded. ⁷ So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about, for their sakes therefore return thou on high. ⁸ The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.

⁷ For the righteous LORD loves righteousness; his countenance beholds the upright.

³ Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast refined me and hast found no iniquity; that which I thought did not pass through my mouth.

²⁷ Samech Depart from evil, and do good, and thou shalt live for evermore.

²⁹ Therefore if thy right eye should bring thee occasion to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. ³⁰ And if thy right hand should bring thee occasion to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

⁸ Therefore if thy hand or thy foot cause thee to fall, cut them off and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into eternal fire. ⁹ And if thine eye causes thee to fall, pluck it out and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

¹² Let the LORD recompense thy work and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to cover thyself.

⁴¹ He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. ⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

⁶ seeing it is a just thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you ⁷ and to give you, who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with the angels of his power,

¹⁶ For men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all controversy.

³² thou shalt hear from heaven and do and judge thy slaves, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

¹⁷ and refused to hear; neither did they remember thy wonders that thou hadst done among them, but hardened their necks and in their rebellion thought to appoint a leader to return to their bondage; but thou art a God of pardons, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great mercy, for thou didst not leave them.

A Psalm of David. ¶ Blessed is he that understands regarding the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of evil. ² The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth, and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. ³ The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing; thou wilt soften all his bed in his sickness. ⁴ I said, LORD, be merciful unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

¹² Also unto thee, O Lord, belongs mercy, for thou renderest to every man according to his work.

⁴ Zain A light has shined in the darkness upon the upright: Cheth Gracious and merciful and righteous. ⁵ Teth A good man has mercy and lends; Jod He will govern his affairs with good judgment. ⁶ ¶ Caph Surely he shall not be moved for ever; Lamed the righteous shall be in eternal remembrance.

⁷ The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.

¹ ¶ The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. ² He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

⁷ Is it not to share thy bread with the hungry and that thou bring the poor that are cast out into thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou not hide thyself from thy brother? ⁸ ¶ Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall gather thee.

²⁵ And if ye say, The way of the Lord is not straight. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not straight? Are not your ways crooked? ²⁶ When a righteous man leaves his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he shall die in it; for his iniquity that he has done he shall die. ²⁷ Again, when the wicked man leaves his wickedness that he has committed and lives according to judgment and righteousness, he shall cause his soul to live. ²⁸ Because he saw and left all his rebellions that he has committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. ²⁹ If even now the house of Israel should say, The way of the Lord is not straight. O house of Israel, are not my ways straight? Certainly your ways are not straight. ³⁰ ¶ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, said the Lord GOD. Repent and turn yourselves from all your iniquities, so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

³³ was it not also expedient unto thee to have mercy on thy fellowslave even as I had mercy on thee? ³⁴ And his lord was wroth and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due unto him. ³⁵ So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you unless from your hearts ye forgive every one his brother their trespasses.

³⁵ But rather love ye your enemies and do good and lend, hoping for nothing again, and your reward shall be great; and ye shall be the sons of the Most High, for he is kind even unto the unthankful and to the evil. ³⁶ Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. ³⁷ ¶ Judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven; ³⁸ give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye measure out it shall be measured to you again.

¹⁴ ¶ What shall we say then? Is there injustice in God? No, in no wise.

²³ And if ye will not be corrected by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me, ²⁴ then will I also walk contrary unto you and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

²⁷ And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me but walk contrary unto me, ²⁸ then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury, and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

¹⁷ As he loved the curse, so let it come unto him; as he delighted not in the blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with the curse like as with his garment, and it entered into his bowels like water and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.

³⁴ Surely he scorns the scorners; but he gives grace unto the humble.

⁴ Or dost thou despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, ignoring that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance? ⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, ⁶ who will render to everyone according to his deeds:

⁹ Tribulation and anguish shall be upon every human soul that does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek;

¹³ For judgment without mercy shall be done unto the one that has shown no mercy; and mercy boasts against judgment.

²⁸ Thou wilt save the poor in spirit; but thine eyes are upon the haughty that thou may bring them down.

¹⁸ For the humble shall not always be forgotten: the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever.

⁴ The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, does not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

¹⁰ They are closed in with their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly.

¹³ Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, with thy sword;

⁶ Vau This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.

¹⁷ When I am poor and needy; the Lord will remember me; thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

⁵ Whosoever secretly slanders his neighbour, I will cut off; he that has a high look and a proud heart I will not suffer.

¹⁶ These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: ¹⁷ A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

¹² There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

⁹ ¶ The appearance of their countenance witnesses against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom; they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! For they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

¹² Therefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord has performed his whole work upon Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will come upon the fruit of the pride of the heart of the king of Assyria, and upon the glory of his high looks.

¹⁵ For thus has said the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is The Holy One; I dwell in the high place and in holiness and with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit to cause the spirit of the humble to live and to cause the heart of the contrite ones to live.

² For all these things my hand has made, by my hand has these things been, said the LORD; but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit and trembles at my word.

⁵² He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the humble. ⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for anyone that exalts himself shall be humbled, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be enriched.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?

²⁹ For thou art my lamp, O LORD, and the LORD gives light unto my darkness.

³⁶ And unto his son I will give one tribe, that David my slave may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name in her.

⁴ Nevertheless for David’s sake, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him and to establish Jerusalem.

⁶ The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his lamp shall be put out with him.

³ when his lamp shone upon my head, and by its light I walked in the darkness;

²⁷ ¶ The spirit of man is the fire of the LORD, which searches the secrets of the inward parts.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will cause them to walk in paths that they have not known; I will make darkness light before them and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them and not forsake them.

¹ ¶ For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace; and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her saving health is lit as a flaming torch.

¹⁶ the people who sat in darkness saw great light, and to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprung up.

⁷⁹ to give light to those that dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace.

⁹ But ye are the chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, that ye should show forth the virtues of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took a stone from there and slang it and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone remained sunk into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth.

² Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go and smite the Philistines and save Keilah.

⁸ And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue; for thou shalt surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

¹⁹ Then David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up, for I without a doubt will deliver the Philistines into thy hand. ²⁰ And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there and said, The LORD has broken forth upon my enemies before me as the breach of waters. Therefore, he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

²⁵ And David did so as the LORD had commanded him and smote the Philistines from Geba unto Gazer.

³⁰ For in thee I have run through a troop; with my God I have gone over the walls.

⁶ For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. ⁷ But thou hast saved us from our enemies and hast put to shame those that hated us.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Blessed be the LORD my strength, who trains my hands for the battle and my fingers for the war:

¹⁰ Thou, he who gives salvation unto kings, who redeems David his slave from the evil sword.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am; and his grace towards me was not in vain, for I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather glory in my weaknesses that the power of Christ may dwell in me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am content in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁰ ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the lords of this age, rulers of this darkness, against spiritual wickedness in the heavens. ¹³ Therefore, take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and stand fast, all the work having been finished.

¹⁵ and having spoiled the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

²¹ To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame and have sat down with my Father in his throne.

⁴ The strong One, whose work is perfect: for all his ways are right; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and upright is he.

³¹ As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is purified; he is a shield to all those that trust in him.

⁶ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

⁷ Show thy mercy to be marvellous, O Saviour of those who put their trust in thee, from those that rise up against thy right hand.

² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

⁷ ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. ⁸ The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. ⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the rights of the LORD are true, they are all just. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹⁰ Jod All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield unto us; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold good from those that walk uprightly. ¹² O LORD of the hosts, happy is the man that trusts in thee.

¹⁴⁰ ¶ Thy word is very pure; therefore thy slave loves it.

⁵ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto those that put their trust in him.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and build up and glorify the King of heaven because all his works are truth, and his ways judgment: and he is able to humble those that walk with arrogance.

² And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

³ And they sing the song of Moses, the slave of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

³¹ For their strong one is not as our strong One, and even our enemies are judges of this.

³⁹ ¶ See now that I, I am he, and there are no gods with me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; and there is not one that can deliver out of my hand.

² There is none holy as the LORD, for there is none beside thee; neither is there any strong One like our God.

³² For what God is there except the LORD? Or who is a Strong One, except our God?

⁸ ¶ Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord, neither is there any other who does thy works.

²¹ Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together; who caused this to be heard from the beginning and has declared it from that time, except me, the LORD? and there is no God beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is no one besides me. ²² Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no one else.

³³ God is he who strengthens me with virtue; he who clears my way;

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him.

¹ ¶ The LORD reigns; he has clothed himself with majesty; the LORD has clothed himself with strength; he has girded himself: he has established the world also, that it cannot be moved.

⁵ Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God,

¹³ He made him ride on the high places of the earth that he might eat the fruits of the field; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the strong flint,

³⁶ Thou hast also given me the shield of thy saving health, and thy meekness has multiplied me.

⁵ And it shall come to pass in that day that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.

¹² For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

³ Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most valiant, with thy glory and thy majesty. ⁴ And in thy majesty be prospered; ride upon the word of truth and of humility and of righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

³ All thy princes together fled from the bow; they were bound; all that were found in thee were bound together; the others fled far away.

¹¹ He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them in his bosom and shall gently lead those that are with young.

¹ ¶ Now I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and clemency of the Christ (who in presence am low among you, but being absent am bold toward you)

A Psalm of David. ¶ Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

¹² When thou goest in these paths, thy steps shall not be hindered; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am anguished until it is accomplished!

⁴⁶ and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day; ⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things.

¹⁷ I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not near by; there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel and shall smite the corners of Moab and destroy all the sons of Seth. ¹⁸ And Edom shall be taken; Seir also shall be taken by his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly. ¹⁹ Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion and shall destroy what remains of the city.

I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. ² Why art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treads in the winefat? ³ I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no one with me; for I have trodden them with my anger and have trampled them with my fury; and their blood sprinkled my garments and stained all my raiment. ⁴ For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. ⁵ And I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold me; therefore my own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me. ⁶ And I have trampled down the people with my anger and made them drunk in my fury, and I brought down their strength to the earth.

² And I saw and, behold, a white horse; and he that was seated upon him had a bow, and a crown was given unto him, and he went forth victorious, that he might also overcome.

¹⁹ And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against him that was seated upon the horse and against his army. ²⁰ And the beast was taken and with it the false prophet that wrought miracles in its presence, with which he had deceived those that had taken the mark of the beast and had worshipped its image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took a stone from there and slang it and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone remained sunk into his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the earth. ⁵⁰ So David overcame the Philistine with a sling and with a stone and smote the Philistine and slew him, but there was no sword in the hand of David. ⁵¹ Therefore David ran and stood upon the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and slew him and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw their giant was dead, they fled.

⁵ So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines and brought away their livestock and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

¹⁷ And David smote them from the morning twilight even unto the evening of the next day, and none of them escaped except four hundred young men who rode upon camels and fled.

¹ ¶ Then all the tribes of Israel came unto David in Hebron and spoke, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. ² And even yesterday and the day before yesterday, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that didst lead out and bring in Israel; and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel. ³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king in Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel. ⁴ David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. ⁵ In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah. ⁶ ¶ Then the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, who dwelt in the land, who spoke unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in here, thinking, David cannot come in here. ⁷ Nevertheless, David took the fortress of Zion; the same is the city of David. ⁸ And David said on that day, Who shall go up the waterspout and smite the Jebusites and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul? Therefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. ⁹ So David dwelt in the fortress and called it the city of David. ¹ ¶ And after this it, came to pass that David smote the Philistines and subdued them, and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines. ² He also smote those of Moab and measured them with a line, causing them to lie down on the ground, and he measured them with two lines, with one to put to death and the other full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s slaves, bringing presents. ³ David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to extend his border to the river Euphrates. ⁴ And David took from him a thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand footmen, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. ⁵ And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men. ⁶ Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became slaves to David, bringing presents. And the LORD saved David wherever he went. ⁷ And David took the shields of gold that were on the slaves of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. ⁸ Likewise from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a great quantity of brass. ⁹ ¶ When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, ¹⁰ then Toi sent Joram, his son, unto King David, to greet him peacefully and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him, for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought vessels of silver and vessels of gold and vessels of brass in his hand, ¹¹ which King David dedicated unto the LORD with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all Gentiles which he subdued ¹² of the Syrians and of the Moabites and of the sons of Ammon and of the Philistines and of Amalekites and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah. ¹³ And David received fame when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt eighteen thousand men. ¹⁴ And he put garrisons in Edom; he put garrisons throughout all Edom, and all those of Edom became David’s slaves. And the LORD saved David wherever he went. ¹⁵ ¶ And David reigned over all Israel, and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. ¹⁶ And Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was over the host, and Jehoshaphat, the son of Ahilud, was the writer of chronicles; ¹⁷ and Zadok, the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests, and Seraiah was the scribe, ¹⁸ and Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass after this that the king of the sons of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead. ² Then David said, I will show mercy unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed mercy unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his slaves for his father. And David’s slaves came into the land of the sons of Ammon. ³ And the princes of the sons of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Does it appear unto thee that David has sent comforters unto thee to honour thy father? Has not David rather sent his slaves unto thee to search the city and to spy it out and to overthrow it? ⁴ Therefore, Hanun took David’s slaves and shaved off the one half of their beards and cut off their garments in the middle even to their buttocks and sent them away. ⁵ When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them because the men were greatly ashamed, and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards are grown and then return. ⁶ ¶ And when the sons of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the sons of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men. ⁷ And when David heard of it, he sent Joab and all the host of the mighty men. ⁸ And the sons of Ammon came out and ordered their troops at the entering in of the gate, and the Syrians of Zoba and of Rehob and Ishtob and Maacah were in order by themselves in the field. ⁹ When Joab saw that there were troops before and behind him, he chose from among the chosen men of Israel and put them in order against the Syrians. ¹⁰ Then he delivered the rest of the people into the hand of Abishai his brother that he might put them in order against the sons of Ammon. ¹¹ And he said, If the Syrians are too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the sons of Ammon are too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. ¹² Be of good courage, and let us be strong for our people and for the cities of our God; and let the LORD do that which seems good unto him. ¹³ And Joab drew near and the people that were with him, to do battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him. ¹⁴ And when the sons of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they also fled before Abishai and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the sons of Ammon and came to Jerusalem. ¹⁵ ¶ And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together. ¹⁶ And Hadarezer sent and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river, and they came to Helam, and Shobach, the captain of the host of Hadarezer, went before them. ¹⁷ And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together and passed over the Jordan and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in order against David and fought with him. ¹⁸ And the Syrians fled before Israel, and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians and forty thousand horsemen and smote Shobach, the captain of their host, who died there. ¹⁹ And when all the kings that were slaves to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the sons of Ammon any more.

⁷ where the people of Israel were slain before the slaves of David, and there was there a great slaughter that day of twenty thousand men. ⁸ For the battle was there scattered over the face of all the land, and the forest devoured more people that day than the sword devoured.

¹⁵ ¶ And the Philistines made war again with Israel; and David went down, and his slaves with him, and fought against the Philistines; and David became weary. ¹⁶ And Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, and the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, was girded with a new sword and had determined to kill David. ¹⁷ But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, helped David, and smote the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore unto him, saying, From now on thou shalt not go out with us to battle that thou not quench the light of Israel. ¹⁸ And after this, there was a second war with the Philistines at Gob; then Sibbechai, the Hushathite, slew Saph, who was of the sons of the giant. ¹⁹ And there was another war in Gob with the Philistines where Elhanan, the son of Jaareoregim of Bethlehem, slew Goliath, the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. ²⁰ And after that there was another war in Gath where there was a man of great stature, that had six fingers on every hand, and six toes on every foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was of the sons of the giant. ²¹ And when he dishonoured Israel, Jonathan, the son of Shimea, the brother of David, slew him. ²² These four were born to the giant in Gath and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his slaves.

³⁹ And I consumed them and wounded them, and they did not arise; they are fallen under my feet.

¹² There are the workers of iniquity fallen; they are cast down and shall not be able to rise.

³ He shall guide the peoples under us, and the Gentiles under our feet.

⁴⁰ For thou hast girded me with strength for the battle; thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. ⁴¹ Thou hast given me the necks of my enemies, of those that hate me, that I might cut them off.

¹⁸ Is not the LORD your God with you who has given you rest on every side? For he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land is subdued before the LORD and before his people.

²¹ Schin Evil shall slay the wicked; and those that hate the righteous shall be declared guilty.

³ Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

³⁶ But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul; all those that hate me love death.

¹⁴ Thus saith the LORD, The labour of Egypt, and merchandise of Ethiopia and of the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall come after thee; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down unto thee; they shall make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee; and there is no one else; there is none other beside God.

⁵ Our necks are under persecution; we are become tired and have no rest.

²⁴ And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand, but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a man wounded unto death. ²⁵ But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I place my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.

²³ He that hates me hates my Father also.

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet. ²⁶ The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. ²⁷ For he has put all things under his feet. But when he says all things are put under him, it is clear that he is excepted, who did put all things under him. ²⁸ And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also subject himself unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

²² And has put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones},

²¹ Who shall transform our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto the body of his glory, according to the working by which he is also able to subdue all things unto himself.

²³ And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

⁴² They looked, but there was no one to save them; even unto the LORD, but he did not answer them. ⁴³ Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth; I stamped them as the mire of the street and spread them abroad.

⁹ Will God hear his cry when the tribulation comes upon him?

¹² There they shall cry, but he shall give no answer because of the pride of those that are evil. ¹³ Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty look upon it.

²² Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I take you away, and there be none to deliver.

²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; likewise, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.

¹ ¶ Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: ² But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

¹¹ ¶ Therefore thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

¹² When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them; but I will consume them by sword and by famine and by pestilence.

¹⁸ Therefore I will also deal in fury: my eye shall not forgive, neither will I have mercy: and they shall cry in my ears with a loud voice; yet I will not hear them.

¹⁴ And they have not cried unto me with their heart when they howled upon their beds; they congregated themselves for the wheat and the wine, and they rebelled against me.

⁴ Then they shall cry unto the LORD, but he will not respond to them: he will even hide his face from them at that time because of their evil doings.

¹³ Therefore it is come to pass that as he cried and they would not hear, so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of the hosts:

²⁵ When once the husband of the house is risen up and shall have shut the door, and ye begin to stand without and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not from where ye are,

⁷ Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust to be tread upon.

⁶ I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and upon the people of my wrath will I send him to take spoil and to take prey and to ready them that they might be tread down like the mire of the streets.

¹⁰ For in this mountain the hand of the LORD shall rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

² Who raised up righteousness from the east, called him that he might follow him, gave the Gentiles before him, and made him rule over kings? He gave them as the dust to his sword and as driven stubble to his bow.

¹⁵ Behold, I have placed thee as a threshing instrument, as a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains and beat them small and shalt make the hills as chaff. ¹⁶ Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; but thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ ¶ And they shall be as mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle; and they shall fight because the LORD shall be with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

³ And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, said the LORD of the hosts.

⁹ and made him king over Gilead and over the Ashurites and over Jezreel and over Ephraim and over Benjamin and over all Israel. ¹⁰ Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel and reigned two years. Only the house of Judah followed David.

¹ ¶ Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David, but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

⁹ ¶ And all the people were in contention throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines, and now he has fled out of the land for Absalom.

⁴⁴ Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of peoples; thou hast kept me to be head of the Gentiles; peoples whom I did not know have served me. ⁴⁵ The strangers trembled before my command; as soon as they heard, they obeyed me. ⁴⁶ The strangers withered away and trembled in their close places.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the families of the Gentiles shall worship before thee. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD’s, and he shall have dominion over the Gentiles.

⁹ Moab shall be my washpot; over Edom I will cast my shoe; over Philistia I will triumph.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth.

²² Thus has the Lord GOD said, Behold, I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles and raise up my banner as an example to the peoples: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. ²³ And kings shall be thy nursing fathers and their princesses thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for those that wait for me shall not be ashamed.

¹⁵ But he shall sprinkle many Gentiles; the kings shall shut their mouths over him: for that which had not been told them they shall see; and that which they had not heard they shall understand.

⁵ Behold, thou shalt call a people that thou knowest not, and Gentiles that did not know thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God and for the Holy One of Israel, for he has honoured thee.

¹⁰ With all this, the number of the sons of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

³¹ God has exalted him with his right hand as Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall wait for salvation.

¹⁸ For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not wrought by me, unto the obedience of the Gentiles, with word and with deed,

²⁶ but now is made manifest, and by the writings of the prophets, by the commandment of God eternal, declared unto all the Gentiles, that they might hear and obey by faith,

¹⁰ Ye who in the time past were not a people, but are now the people of God, who in the time past had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded the trumpet, and there were great voices in the heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are reduced unto our Lord and to his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

¹³ And David said unto the young man that told him, From where art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

³⁰ Reprehend the company of spearmen, the multitude of the strong, with the lords of the peoples, trampling them underfoot with their pieces of silver; Destroy thou the peoples that delight in war.

¹⁵ The haters of the LORD would have submitted themselves unto him, and their time would endure for ever.

⁸ The LORD has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no longer give thy wheat to be food for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for which thou hast laboured:

⁷ In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh to be in my sanctuary to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.

¹⁶ But not everyone hearkens unto the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report? ¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and the ear to hear by the word of God.

⁴ The earth has destroyed itself and fallen; the world has become sick and fallen; the haughty peoples of the earth are become sick.

¹⁷ They shall lick the dust like a serpent; as the serpents of the earth, they shall tremble in their holes; they shall be filled with fear of the LORD our God and shall also fear thee.

¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beautiful appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

¹⁶ and said to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him that is seated upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb;

² The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my saving health; he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

⁴⁷ The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God who is the rock of my salvation.

¹³ Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy valour.

⁵ He Cause me to walk in thy truth and teach me: for thou art the God of my saving health; I have waited for thee all the day.

⁹ I will say unto God, My rock, why hast thou forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

¹⁴ ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

⁵ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

¹¹ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

²⁰ He that is our God is the God of salvation, and unto GOD the Lord belongs the way of escape from death.

⁹ Help us, O God, our saving health, for the honor of thy name and deliver us and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

⁹ Exalt the LORD our God and worship at the mountain of his holiness, for the LORD our God is holy.

² Behold, O God my saving health, I will trust and not be afraid for JAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he also is become saving health unto me.

¹⁰ But the LORD God is the Truth, he himself is Living God and Everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the Gentiles shall not be able to abide his indignation.

⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saving Health,

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more, but ye shall see me; because I live, ye shall live also.

¹⁸ and he that lives and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of Hades and of death.

⁴⁸ The God who has given me revenge and who subjects the peoples under me,

² ¶ God is jealous, and the LORD avenges; the LORD avenges and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserves wrath for his enemies.

¹⁹ Not defending yourselves, dearly beloved; but rather give place unto the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

¹⁶ His work shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

²⁷ All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the families of the Gentiles shall worship before thee. ²⁸ For the kingdom is the LORD’s, and he shall have dominion over the Gentiles. ²⁹ All those that are fat upon earth shall eat and worship; all those that go down to the dust shall bow before him; and no one can keep his own soul alive. ³⁰ A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

¹ To the Overcomer upon,
Do not destroy, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. ¶ Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those that rise up against me. ² Deliver me from the workers of iniquity and save me from bloodthirsty men.

¹⁴ O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul and have not set thee before them.

¹³ The mighty arm is thine; strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David. ¶ Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man; preserve me from the man of violence.

⁴ Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the man of violence, who have purposed to overthrow my steps.

¹¹ The man with an evil tongue shall not be established in the earth; evil shall hunt the man of violence to overthrow him.

⁹ Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name,

⁷ Oh that the saving health of Israel were come out of Zion! When the LORD turns back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

¹² to the end that I may sing glory unto thee and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

¹⁸ ¶ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, the only one who does wondrous things ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name for ever, and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

¹ A Song or Psalm of David. ¶ O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise; this is my glory.

³ I will praise thee, O LORD, among the peoples, and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

⁴ All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hearken unto the spoken words from thy mouth.

³⁰ And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

⁹ but that the Gentiles glorify God by mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess thee among the Gentiles and sing unto thy name.

¹³ ¶ I give thee charge in the sight of God, who gives life to all things and before Christ Jesus, who testified before Pontius Pilate a good profession;

¹⁰ LORD, thine adversaries shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven he shall thunder upon them. The LORD shall judge the ends of the earth, and he shall give strength unto his king and exalt the horn of his anointed. {Heb. Messiah}

¹ ¶ And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill thy horn with oil and go; I will send thee to Jesse of Bethlehem for I have provided me a king among his sons.

¹³ He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled to go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne eternally. ¹³ I will be his father, and he shall be my son; and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee; ¹⁴ but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom for ever, and his throne shall be established for evermore.

²⁷ now it has pleased thee to bless the house of thy slave, that it may be before thee for ever; for thou, O LORD, hast blessed it, and it shall be blessed for ever.

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness.

⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young, he brought him to feed Jacob his people and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² So he fed them out of the integrity of his heart and guided them by the intelligence of his hands.

³ I have made a covenant with my chosen; I have sworn unto David my slave, saying, ⁴ Thy seed will I establish for ever and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

²⁰ I have found David my slave; I anointed him with the oil of my holiness, ²¹ with whom my hand shall be established; mine arm also shall strengthen him. ²² The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down. ²³ But I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him. ²⁴ But my truth and my mercy shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. ²⁵ In the same manner I will set his hand also in the sea and his right hand in the rivers. ²⁶ He shall call me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my saving health. ²⁷ Also I will make him my firstborn, high above the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my mercy for him for ever, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens. ³⁰ If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my judgments, ³¹ if they profane my statutes and do not keep my commandments, ³² then I will visit their rebellion with the rod and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ Nevertheless I will not take my mercy from him, neither will I falsify my truth. ³⁴ I will not profane my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. ³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. ³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah. ³⁸ ¶ But thou hast cast off and abhorred thine anointed; thou hast been wroth with him.

¹⁰ For the love of thy slave David, do not turn away thy face from thine anointed.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is placed upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called The Wonderful One, The Counsellor, The God, The Mighty One, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ The multitude of his dominion and the peace shall have no end upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom, ordering it and confirming it in judgment and in righteousness from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of the hosts will perform this.

³¹ And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb and bring forth a son and shalt call his name Jesus. ³² He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David; ³³ and he shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

⁶⁹ And has raised up a horn of saving health for us in the house of his servant David,

³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand ³⁵ until I make thy foes thy footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

³ of his Son (who was born unto him of the seed of David according to the flesh,

²⁹ For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

¹⁶ Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He did not say, And to seeds, as of many, but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

⁹ Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.
