¹ To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David. ¶ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy saving health how greatly shall he rejoice! ² Thou hast given him his heart’s desire and hast not withheld the request of his lips. Selah. ³ For thou givest him beforehand the blessings of goodness; thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. ⁴ He asked life of thee, and thou didst give him length of days for ever and ever. ⁵ His glory is great in thy saving health; honour and beauty hast thou laid upon him. ⁶ For thou hast made him most blessed for ever; thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance. ⁷ ¶ For the king trusts in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. ⁸ Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies; thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. ⁹ Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger; the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. ¹⁰ Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth and their seed from among the children of men. ¹¹ For they intended evil against thee; they imagined a wicked device, but they did not prevail. ¹² Therefore shalt thou separate them; thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. ¹³ Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy valour.

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness.

⁵ We will rejoice in thy saving health, and in the name of our God we will be standard-bearers: let the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. ⁶ ¶ Now know I that the LORD has kept his anointed; he will hear him from the heavens of his holiness with the saving valour of his right hand.

⁹ The LORD saves the king; let him hear us on the day when we call.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song I will praise him.

¹⁶ But I will sing of thy power; I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning, for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. ¹⁷ Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing, for God is my defence and the God of my mercy.

⁷ In God is my saving health and my glory; the rock of my strength and my refuge is in God.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall be praised; for the mouth of those that speak lies shall be stopped.

¹⁷ O God, thou hast taught me from my youth and until now; I shall manifest thy wondrous works.

¹ ¶ O come, let us bring joy unto the LORD; let us sing with joy unto the rock of our saving health.

⁴ The king’s strength is that he loves judgment; thou dost establish equity; thou dost execute judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

¹⁴ JAH is my strength and song and is become my saving health. ¹⁵ The voice of singing and saving health is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

⁶ For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is placed upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called The Wonderful One, The Counsellor, The God, The Mighty One, The Eternal Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ The multitude of his dominion and the peace shall have no end upon the throne of David and upon his Kingdom, ordering it and confirming it in judgment and in righteousness from now on even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of the hosts will perform this.

² saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? We have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.

² with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who having been offered joy, endured the cross {Gr. stauros – stake}, despising the shame and was seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give thee the Gentiles for thine inheritance and unto the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. ⁹ Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

⁴ Grant thee according to thine heart and fulfil all thy counsel. ⁵ We will rejoice in thy saving health, and in the name of our God we will be standard-bearers: let the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.

⁴ In the same manner delight thyself in the LORD, and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart.

¹¹ And my eye saw my desire on my enemies, and my ears heard my desire of those that rose up against me, of the wicked.

⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth. ⁷ ¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee. ⁸ Thus has the LORD said, In an acceptable time I have heard thee, and in the day of saving health I have helped thee; and I will preserve thee and give thee for a covenant of people, that thou might awaken the earth, that thou might inherit the desolate heritages; ⁹ that thou may say to the prisoners, Go forth; and unto those that are in darkness, Show yourselves. Upon the ways shall they be fed, and upon all the high places shall be their pastures. ¹⁰ They shall never hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water he shall feed them. ¹¹ And I will turn all my mountains into a way, and my highways shall be exalted. ¹² Behold, these shall come from far; and, behold, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

²⁵ Therefore he is able also to save to the uttermost those that come unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them.

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him from among his brethren; and the Spirit of the LORD prospered David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

⁴ And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, The men of Jabeshgilead buried Saul.

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king in Hebron; and King David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel.

³⁰ And he took their king’s crown from off his head, the weight of which was a talent of gold with the precious stones, and it was set on David’s head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

² And David took the crown of their king from off his head and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head. And in addition to this he took exceeding much spoil out of the city.

⁴¹ Now, therefore, arise, O LORD God, to inhabit thy resting place, thou and the ark of thy strength; let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation and let thy merciful ones rejoice in goodness.

¹¹ ¶ Who has preceded me, that I should repay him? All that is under the whole heaven is mine.

¹⁸ They were ready for me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my staff.

¹⁹ ¶ Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for those that wait in thee before the sons of men!

¹⁰ The God of my mercy shall meet me on the way; God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies.

⁴ Or dost thou despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, ignoring that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?

³⁵ Or who has first given unto him, that it be recompensed unto him again?

³ ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly things in Christ;

⁹ But we see this same Jesus, crowned with glory and honour, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

¹² And his eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no one has known, but he himself.

³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death,

¹⁰ For thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol; neither wilt thou suffer thy Merciful One to see corruption. ¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

⁵ ¶ For thou, O God, hast heard my vows; thou hast given an inheritance to those that fear thy name. ⁶ Thou wilt add days upon days unto the king’s life; his years shall be from generation to generation.

¹⁷ His name shall endure for ever; before the sun his name shall be disseminated, and all Gentiles shall be blessed in him; they shall call him blessed.

²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of the heavens.

³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

¹⁶ With long life I will satisfy him and show him my saving health.

⁷⁷ Let thy mercy come unto me, that I may live, for thy law is my delight.

¹⁷⁵ ¶ Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee, and let thy judgments help me.

³ as the dew of Hermon, that descends upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commands blessing and eternal life.

¹⁸ and he that lives and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen, and have the keys of Hades and of death.

⁸ Now, therefore, so shalt thou say unto my slave David, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel; ⁹ and I have been with thee wherever thou didst walk and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

¹⁹ And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy slave’s house for a great while to come and that this shall be the condition of a man, O Lord GOD.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass, when thy days are fulfilled to go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne eternally. ¹³ I will be his father, and he shall be my son; and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee; ¹⁴ but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom for ever, and his throne shall be established for evermore. ¹⁵ According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

²⁷ now it has pleased thee to bless the house of thy slave, that it may be before thee for ever; for thou, O LORD, hast blessed it, and it shall be blessed for ever.

³ But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory and the lifter up of my head.

⁵ For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and beauty.

⁶ Honour and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

⁵ And now, saith the LORD, he that formed me from the womb to be his slave, so that Jacob might be converted unto him. But if Israel will not be gathered, even so, yet I shall be esteemed in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength. ⁶ And he said, It is a light thing that thou should be my slave to wake up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the desolations of Israel; I have also given thee for a light to the Gentiles that thou may be my saving health unto the end of the earth. ⁷ ¶ Thus has the LORD said, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the Gentiles abhor, to the slave of the tyrants, Kings shall see and be raised up as princes and shall worship because of the LORD, for faithful is the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen thee.

¹ ¶ Who is this that comes from Edom, with red garments from Bozrah? This glorious one in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

³¹ ¶ Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man clarified, and God is clarified in him. ³² If God is clarified in him, God shall also clarify him in himself and shall straightway clarify him.

¹ ¶ Jesus spoke these words and lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour is come; clarify thy Son, that thy Son may also clarify thee,

⁵ And now, O Father, clarify thou me with thine own self with that clarity which I had with thee before the world was.

²² And the clarity which thou gavest me I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one:

²⁰ which operated in the Christ, raising him from the dead and setting him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come, ²² And has put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones},

⁹ Therefore, God also has highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.

¹ ¶ Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: We have such a high priest who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

²² who is at the right hand of God, having ascended into heaven, unto whom the angels and the authorities and powers are subject.

⁸ And when he had taken the book, the four animals and the twenty-four elders fell on their faces before the Lamb, each one of them having harps, and golden vials full of incense, which are the prayers of saints. ⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book and to open its seals, for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us unto God by thy blood, out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation ¹⁰ and hast made us unto our God kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth. ¹¹ And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and of the animals and of the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to take power and riches and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and blessing. ¹³ And I heard every creature which is in heaven and upon the earth and under the earth and such as are upon the sea and all that are in it, saying, Blessing and honour and glory and power, be unto him that is seated upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

² and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.

⁶ ¶ There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. ⁷ Thou hast put gladness in my heart in the time that their grain and their wine multiplied.

¹¹ Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

⁴ Then I will enter in to the altar of God, unto the God of my exceeding joy; yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

⁷ Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

² in this manner I beheld thee in holiness when I beheld thy power and thy glory. ³ ¶ Because thy mercy is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. ⁴ Thus will I bless thee in my life; in thy name shall I lift up my hands. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips

¹⁷ His name shall endure for ever; before the sun his name shall be disseminated, and all Gentiles shall be blessed in him; they shall call him blessed. ¹⁸ ¶ Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, the only one who does wondrous things ¹⁹ And blessed be his glorious name for ever, and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

¹⁰ But the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you a gospel of great joy, which shall be to all the people. ¹¹ For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

³⁰ for mine eyes have seen thy saving health, ³¹ which thou hast prepared before the face of all the peoples: ³² a light to be revealed unto the Gentiles and the glory of thy people Israel.

²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

²⁶ Unto you first, God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, that each one of you might turn from his iniquities.

⁹ So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.

¹⁴ That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁸ when the most High caused the Gentiles to be inherited, when he separated the sons of men, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel. ⁹ For the LORD’s portion is his people; Jacob is the measuring line of his inheritance.

⁶ And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him because the soul of all the people was bitter, each one for his sons and for his daughters; but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

² I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High

⁵ But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

⁸ ¶ I have set the LORD always before me: because when he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

² The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

⁷ Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. ⁸ They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen and stand upright.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity; I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

⁴ I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever; I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

⁶ Thou wilt add days upon days unto the king’s life; his years shall be from generation to generation. ⁷ He shall abide before God for ever; He is aware of mercy and truth which preserve him.

² I will say of the LORD, He is my hope and my fortress: my God; in him will I secure myself.

⁹ ¶ Because thou hast made the LORD, who is my hope, even the most High, thy habitation, ¹⁰ no evil shall befall thee, neither shall any plague come near thy dwelling.

¹⁴ And he gave him dominion and glory and kingdom; and all the peoples, nations, and tongues served him: his dominion is an eternal dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom such that it shall never be corrupted.

⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him, for he said, I am the Son of God.

¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God has given me.

²⁹ Yet a man is risen to pursue thee and to seek thy soul, but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God, and he shall hurl forth the souls of thine enemies as out of the middle of a sling.

³ And the battle went heavily against Saul, and the archers found him, and he was sore afraid of the archers.

¹ ¶ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,

¹ To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David, the slave of the LORD, who spoke unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said, ¶ I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

⁹ Those that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust.

²² The enemy shall not overcome him, nor the son of iniquity break him down. ²³ But I will break down his foes before his face and smite those that hate him.

¹ A Psalm of David. ¶ The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool. ² The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion; rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel those of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

² Though they dig unto Sheol, from there shall my hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, from there I will bring them down; ³ and though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out of there; and though they hide from my sight in the bottom of the sea, from there will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him and sent an embassy after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

²⁷ Moreover, those enemies of mine, who were unwilling that I should reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet.

²⁸ He that despised the law of Moses died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much greater punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing and has done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

¹⁵ And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the Gentiles; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and he treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

²⁸ And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of that plain and beheld that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.

²² For fire shall be kindled in my anger and shall burn unto the lowest part of Sheol and shall consume the earth with her fruit and burn up the foundations of the mountains.

³ For it would be heavier than the sand of the sea; therefore, my words are swallowed up.

⁵ Then he shall speak unto them in his wrath and trouble them in his sore displeasure.

¹² Kiss the Son lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way when his wrath is kindled in a little while. Blessed are all those that put their trust in him.

⁸ Smoke went up out of his nostrils, and fire devoured out of his mouth; coals were kindled by it.

³ Our God shall come and shall not keep silence; a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

¹ To the Overcomer upon:
The silent dove in a distant land, Michtam of David, when the Philistines took him in Gath. ¶ Be merciful unto me, O God, for man would swallow me up; he oppresses me fighting me daily. ² My enemies would daily swallow me up, for they are many that fight against me, O thou most High.

¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

¹¹ LORD, when thy hand is withdrawn, they will not see: but they shall see in the end and be ashamed with the zeal of the people. And fire shall consume thine enemies.

² Beth The Lord has destroyed and has not forgiven; he has destroyed in his wrath all the habitations of Jacob; he has thrown down to the ground the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he has polluted the kingdom and its princes.

²⁰ And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then these men were bound in their coats, their undergarments, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²² Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

⁶ Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

¹ ¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

¹⁰ And now the axe is also laid unto the root of the trees; therefore, every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

¹² whose fan is in his hand; and he will thoroughly purge his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the storehouse, but he will burn up the chaff with fire that shall never be quenched.

⁴² and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁵⁰ and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

⁷ But when the king heard of this, he became angry and sent forth his armies and destroyed those murderers and burned up their city.

⁴¹ Then he shall also say unto those who shall be on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴⁶ And they shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up the measure of their sins always, for the wrath of God has come upon them to the uttermost.

⁸ with flaming fire, to take vengeance on those that do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁶ and said to the mountains and to the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him that is seated upon the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb; ¹⁷ for the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand before him?

¹⁴ And Hades and death were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

³⁴ And this became the cause of sin unto the house of Jeroboam for which it was cut off and destroyed from off the face of the earth.

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above his branch shall be cut off. ¹⁷ His memory shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the streets. ¹⁸ He shall be driven from the light into the darkness and chased out of the world. ¹⁹ He shall have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any to succeed him in his dwellings.

²⁸ The increase of his house shall be taken captive; they shall be scattered in the day of his wrath.

²⁸ For the LORD loves uprightness and does not forsake his merciful ones; they are preserved for ever, but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

¹³ Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

²⁰ Thou shalt not be numbered with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land and slain thy people; the seed of evildoers shall not be forever.

¹ ¶ Why do the Gentiles rage, and the peoples imagine a vain thing?

² The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

¹³ For I have heard the slander of many; fear was on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful matters against those that are meek in the land.

⁴ They have said, Come and let us cut them off from being a people that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

⁶ Let us go up against Judah and vex it, and let us divide it between us and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: ⁷ Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

⁹ ¶ Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries, prepare yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces. ¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand, for God is with us.

¹⁸ ¶ And the LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I experienced it: then thou didst show me their doings. ¹⁹ But I was like a ram or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; for I did not understand that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living that his name may no longer be remembered.

² Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief and give wicked counsel in this city:

⁸ and sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go there and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again that I may come and worship him also.

¹⁶ ¶ Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth and sent forth and killed all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had understood of the wise men.

⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude because they held him as a prophet.

⁴ and took counsel that they might take Jesus by guile and kill him. ⁵ But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

⁶³ saying, Lord, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulchre be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead; so the last error shall be worse than the first.

² And, behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it. ³ His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow; ⁴ and for fear of him the guards shook and became as dead men. ⁵ And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye, for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified. ⁶ He is not here, for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

¹⁷ But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them that from now on they speak to no man in this name. ¹⁸ And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set them before the council, and the prince of the priests asked them, ²⁸ saying, Did we not strictly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

²⁰ If I have sinned, what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? Why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

¹² I was prosperous, but he has broken me asunder; he has taken me by my neck and shaken me to pieces and set me up for his mark. ¹³ His archers compassed me round about; he cleaved my kidneys asunder and did not spare; he poured out my gall upon the ground.

¹² If he does not turn, he will whet his sword; he has bent his bow and made it ready. ¹³ He has also prepared for him the weapons of death; he ordains his arrows against the persecutors.

³ because my enemies are turned back; they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

¹⁴ He sent out his arrows and scattered them; he shot out lightnings and destroyed them.

⁴⁰ Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies that I might destroy those that hate me.

¹⁰ Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy, and we are spoiled by those who hate us.

⁹ When I cry unto thee, then shall my enemies be turned back; in this I know that God is for me.

⁷ ¶ But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

¹² Daleth He has bent his bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.

¹¹ Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the honour, for all things in the heavens and in the earth are thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

¹⁹ If we were to speak of his strength, he is certainly strong; and if of his judgment, who shall cause us to meet?

⁴⁶ The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

¹⁰ Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted in the Gentiles, I will be exalted in the earth.

⁵ Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. ¹¹ So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judges in the earth.

⁵ Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwells on high,

¹⁰ Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

¹⁷ saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, who art and wast, and art to come because thou hast taken to thee thy great power and hast reigned.

³ And they sing the song of Moses, the slave of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. ⁴ Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and magnify thy name? for thou only art holy; therefore, all the Gentiles shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, who art and wast the Holy one because thou hast judged these things; ⁶ for they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they deserve it. ⁷ And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your cause upon her.

¹ ¶ And after these things I heard a great voice of a great company in the heaven, saying, Halelu-JAH; Salvation and glory and honour and power unto the Lord our God; ² for true and righteous are his judgments; for he has judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his slaves at her hand. ³ And again they said, Halelu-JAH. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. ⁴ And the twenty-four elders and the four animals fell upon their faces and worshipped God that was seated upon the throne, saying, Amen! Halelu-JAH! ⁵ ¶ And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his slaves and ye that fear him, both small and great. ⁶ And I heard as it were the voice of a great company and as the voice of many waters and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Halelu-JAH; for the Lord God almighty reigns.
