¹² Nevertheless man will not abide forever in honour; he is like the beasts that are cut off.

⁵ Behold, thou hast made my days as a handbreadth, and my age is as nothing before thee; verily every man that lives is altogether vanity. Selah.

²⁰ Man that is in honour that does not understand is like the beasts that are cut off.

⁷ But ye shall die like men and fall like one of the tyrants.

¹⁸ I said in my heart concerning the estate of the sons of men that God might manifest them and that they might see that they themselves are beasts one to another. ¹⁹ For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; and they all have one breath; so that a man has no more breath than a beast: for all is vanity. ²⁰ All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all shall turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows that the spirit of the sons of men goes upward and that the spirit of the beast goes downward to the earth?

¹² For man also does not know his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net and as the birds that are caught in the snare, so are the sons of men snared in the evil time, when it falls suddenly upon them.

¹⁰ and he who is rich, in his low status, because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beautiful appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

²⁴ ¶ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away,
