⁵ For thou, Lord, art good and ready to forgive and plenteous in mercy unto all those that call upon thee.

⁹ Of the Lord our God is the ability to have mercy and to forgive, even though we have rebelled against him

¹³ and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in mercy, and he does repent of chastisement.

² And he prayed unto the LORD and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was this not what I said when I was yet in my country? Therefore I hastened to flee unto Tarshish, for I knew that thou art a gracious God and full of compassion, slow to anger, and of great mercy, and dost repent when thou art come to take punishment.

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto thee that pardons iniquity, and passes over the rebellion with the remnant of his heritage? He did not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy.

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he has made us accepted in the beloved; ⁷ in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace, ⁸ which has over abounded in us in all wisdom and prudence;

⁴ ¶ But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great charity with which he loved us,

⁸ He that does not love does not know God, for God is charity. ⁹ In this was the charity of God demonstrated in us, in that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
