¹ Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly.

¹¹ Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh in chains, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. ¹² And when he was in distress, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he prayed unto him; and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.

¹⁵ Though he slay me, yet will I wait for him: nevertheless I will maintain my ways before him.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble: I will deliver him, and honour him.

¹ A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. ² Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

¹⁶ LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer [when] thy chastening was upon them.

⁵³ They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone upon me. ⁵⁴ Waters flowed over mine head; I said, I am cut off. ⁵⁵ I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the lowest dungeon. ⁵⁶ Thou heardest my voice; hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

¹⁵ I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me earnestly.

²⁴ who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. ²⁵ But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them;

¹³ Is any among you suffering? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
