¹ Wherefore wee ought diligently to giue heede to the thinges which wee haue heard, lest at any time we runne out. ² For if the worde spoken by Angels was stedfast, and euery transgression, and disobedience receiued a iust recompence of reward, ³ How shall we escape, if we neglect so great saluation, which at the first began to be preached by the Lord, and afterward was confirmed vnto vs by them that heard him, ⁴ God bearing witnes thereto, both with signes and wonders, and with diuers miracles, and gifts of the holy Ghost, according to his owne will? ⁵ For he hath not put in subiection vnto the Angels the world to come, whereof we speake. ⁶ But one in a certaine place witnessed, saying, What is man, that thou shouldest bee mindefull of him? or the sonne of man, that thou wouldest consider him? ⁷ Thou madest him a litle inferiour to ye Angels: thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and hast set him aboue the workes of thine hands. ⁸ Thou hast put all things in subiection vnder his feete. And in that he hath put all things in subiection vnder him, he left nothing that should not be subiect vnto him. But we yet see not all things subdued vnto him, ⁹ But we see Iesus crowned with glory and honour, which was made litle inferiour to the Angels, through the suffering of death, that by Gods grace he might taste death for all men. ¹⁰ For it became him, for whome are all these thinges, and by whome are all these things, seeing that hee brought many children vnto glory, that he should consecrate the Prince of their saluation through afflictions. ¹¹ For he that sanctifieth, and they which are sanctified, are all of one: wherefore he is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² Saying, I will declare thy Name vnto my brethren: in the middes of the Church will I sing praises to thee. ¹³ And againe, I will put my trust in him. And againe, Beholde, here am I, and the children which God hath giuen me. ¹⁴ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himselfe likewise tooke part with them, that hee might destroye through death, him that had the power of death, that is the deuil, ¹⁵ And that he might deliuer all them, which for feare of death were all their life time subiect to bondage. ¹⁶ For he in no sort tooke on him the Angels nature, but hee tooke on him the seede of Abraham. ¹⁷ Wherefore in all things it behoued him to be made like vnto his brethren, that hee might be mercifull, and a faithfull hie Priest in things concerning God, that he might make reconciliation for the sinnes of the people. ¹⁸ For in that he suffered, and was tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

¹⁵ I will also put enimitie betweene thee and the woman, and betweene thy seede and her seede. He shall breake thine head, and thou shalt bruise his heele.

²⁵ Be it farre from thee from doing this thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be euen as the wicked, be it farre from thee. shall not the Iudge of all the worlde doe right?

³⁰ But no sinne offering, whose blood is brought into the Tabernacle of the Congregation to make reconciliation in the holy place, shalbe eaten, but shalbe burnt in the fire.

¹⁴ Bring the blasphemer without the hoste, and let all that heard him, put their handes vpon his head, and let all the Congregation stone him. ¹⁵ And thou shalt speake vnto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoeuer curseth his God, shall beare his sinne. ¹⁶ And he that blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shalbe put to death: all the Congregation shall stone him to death: aswell the stranger, as he that is borne in the lande: when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, let him beslaine.

³³ While the flesh was yet betweene their teeth, before it was chewed, euen the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with an exceeding great plague.

²⁸ Tell them, As I liue (saith the Lord) I wil surely do vnto you, euen as ye haue spoken in mine eares. ²⁹ Your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes, and all you that were counted through all your nombers, from twentie yeere olde and aboue, which haue murmured against me, ³⁰ Ye shall not doubtles come into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hande, to make you dwell therein, saue Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh, and Ioshua the sonne of Nun. ³¹ But your children, (which ye said shoulde be a pray) them will I bring in, and they shall knowe the lande which ye haue refused: ³² But euen your carkeises shall fall in this wildernes, ³³ And your children shall wander in the wildernesse, fourtie yeeres, and shall beare your whoredomes, vntill your carkeises be wasted in the wildernesse. ³⁴ After the number of the dayes, in the which ye searched out the lande, euen fourtie dayes, euery day for a yeere, shall ye beare your iniquity, for fourtie yeeres, and ye shall feele my breach of promise. ³⁵ I the Lord haue said, Certainely I will doe so to all this wicked company, that are gathered together against me: for in this wildernesse they shall be consumed, and there they shall die. ³⁶ And the men which Moses had sent to search the land (which, when they came againe, made all the people to murmure against him, and brought vp a slander vpon the lande) ³⁷ Euen those men that did bring vp that vile slander vpon the land, shall die by a plague before the Lord.

³⁰ But the person that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be borne in the land, or a stranger, the same blasphemeth the Lord: therefore that person shalbe cut off from among his people, ³¹ Because he hath despised the worde of the Lord, and hath broken his commandement: that person shalbe vtterly cut off: his iniquitie shalbe vpon him. ³² And while the children of Israel were in the wildernesse, they found a man that gathered stickes vpon the Sabbath day. ³³ And they that found him gathering sticks, brought him vnto Moses and to Aaron, and vnto all the Congregation, ³⁴ And they put him warde: for it was not declared what should be done vnto him. ³⁵ Then the Lord said vnto Moses, This man shall dye the death: and let al the multitude stone him with stones without the hoste. ³⁶ And all the Congregation brought him without the hoste, and stoned him with stones, and he died, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

³¹ And assoone as he had made an ende of speaking all these wordes, euen the ground claue asunder that was vnder them, ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them vp, with their families, and all the men that were with Korah, and all their goods. ³³ So they and all that they had, went down aliue into the pit, and the earth couered them: so they perished from among the Congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were about them, fled at the crie of them: for they said, Let vs flee, least the earth swalow vs vp. ³⁵ But there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundreth and fiftie men that offred the incense.

⁶ Wherefore the Lord sent fierie serpents among ye people, which stung the people: so that many of the people of Israel died.

³ Your eyes haue seene what the Lord did because of Baal-Peor, for al the men that folowed Baal-Peor the Lord thy God hath destroyed euery one from among you. ⁴ But ye that did cleaue vnto the Lord your God, are aliue euery one of you this day.

⁹ But take heede to thy selfe, and keepe thy soule diligently, that thou forget not the thinges which thine eyes haue seene, and that they depart not out of thine heart, all the dayes of thy life: but teach them thy sonnes, and thy sonnes sonnes:

²³ Take heede vnto your selues, least ye forget the couenant of the Lord your God which hee made with you, and least ye make you any grauen image, or likenes of any thing, as the Lord thy God hath charged thee.

² If there be founde among you in any of thy cities, which the Lord thy God giueth thee, man or woman that hath wrought wickednes in the sight of the Lord thy God, in transgressing his couenant,

⁵ Then shalt thou bring foorth that man, or that woman (which haue committed that wicked thing) vnto thy gates, whether it be man or woman, and shalt stone them with stones, til they die.

²⁶ Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the wordes of this Law, to do them: And all the people shall say: So be it.

² My doctrine shall drop as the raine, and my speach shall stil as the dew, as the showre vpon the herbes, and as the great raine vpon the grasse.

⁴⁶ Then hee said vnto them, Set your heartes vnto all the wordes which I testifie against you this day, that ye may commande them vnto your children, that they may obserue and doo all the wordes of this Lawe. ⁴⁷ For it is no vaine worde concerning you, but it is your life, and by this worde ye shall prolong your dayes in the land, whither yee go ouer Iorden to possesse it.

¹⁴ And he said, Nay, but as a captaine of the host of the Lord am I nowe come: then Ioshua fel on his face to the earth, and did worship, and saide vnto him, What sayth my Lord vnto his seruant? ¹⁵ And the captaine of ye Lords host said vnto Ioshua, Loose thy shoe of thy foote: for ye place wheron thou standest, is holy: and Ioshua did so.

¹¹ Take good heede therefore vnto your selues, that ye loue the Lord your God. ¹² Els, if ye goe backe, and cleaue vnto the rest of these nations: that is, of them that remaine with you, and shall make marriages with them, and goe vnto them, and they to you,

³ God is my strength, in him will I trust: my shielde, and the horne of my saluation, my hie tower and my refuge: my Sauiour, thou hast saued me from violence.

¹³ Then thou shalt prosper, if thou take heede to obserue the statutes and the iudgements which the Lord commanded Moses for Israel: be strong and of good courage: feare not, neither bee afraide.

²⁴ And the Priests slewe them, and with the blood of them they clensed the altar to reconcile all Israel: for the King had commanded for all Israel the burnt offring and the sinne offring.

¹⁷ What is man, that thou doest magnifie him, and that thou settest thine heart vpon him? ¹⁸ And doest visite him euery morning, and tryest him euery moment?

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be cleane? and he that is borne of woman, that he shoulde be iust?

¹¹ Fearefulnesse shall make him afrayde on euery side, and shall driue him to his feete.

¹⁴ His hope shalbe rooted out of his dwelling, and shall cause him to go to the King of feare.

¹⁷ But the morning is euen to them as the shadow of death: if one knowe them, they are in the terrours of the shadowe of death.

⁶ How much more man, a worme, euen the sonne of man, which is but a worme?

¹ Bvt now they that are yonger then I, mocke me: yea, they whose fathers I haue refused to set with the dogges of my flockes. ² For whereto shoulde the strength of their handes haue serued mee, seeing age perished in them? ³ For pouertie and famine they were solitary, fleeing into the wildernes, which is darke, desolate and waste. ⁴ They cut vp nettels by the bushes, and the iuniper rootes was their meate. ⁵ They were chased forth from among men: they shouted at them, as at a theefe. ⁶ Therfore they dwelt in the clefts of riuers, in the holes of the earth and rockes. ⁷ They roared among the bushes, and vnder the thistles they gathered themselues. ⁸ They were the children of fooles and the children of villaines, which were more vile then the earth. ⁹ And now am I their song, and I am their talke. ¹⁰ They abhorre me, and flee farre from mee, and spare not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because that God hath loosed my corde and humbled mee, they haue loosed the bridle before me. ¹² The youth rise vp at my right hand: they haue pusht my feete, and haue trode on me as on the paths of their destruction.

²¹ His flesh faileth that it can not be seene, and his bones which were not seene, clatter. ²² So his soule draweth to the graue, and his life to the buriers. ²³ If there be a messenger with him, or an interpreter, one of a thousand to declare vnto man his righteousnesse, ²⁴ Then will he haue mercie vpon him, and will say, Deliuer him, that he go not downe into the pit: for I haue receiued a reconciliation. ²⁵ Then shall his flesh be as fresh as a childes, and shall returne as in the dayes of his youth. ²⁶ He shall pray vnto God, and he will be fauourable vnto him, and he shall see his face with ioy: for he will render vnto man his righteousnes. ²⁷ He looketh vpon men, and if one say, I haue sinned, and peruerted righteousnesse, and it did not profite me, ²⁸ He will deliuer his soule from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

¹ None is so fearce that dare stirre him vp. Who is he then that can stand before me? ² Who hath preuented mee that I shoulde make an ende? Al vnder heauen is mine. ³ I will not keepe silence concerning his partes, nor his power nor his comely proportion. ⁴ Who can discouer the face of his garmet? or who shall come to him with a double bridle? ⁵ Who shall open the doores of his face? his teeth are fearefull round about. ⁶ The maiestie of his scales is like strog shields, and are sure sealed. ⁷ One is set to another, that no winde can come betweene them. ⁸ One is ioyned to another: they sticke together, that they cannot be sundered. ⁹ His niesings make the light to shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. ¹⁰ Out of his mouth go lampes, and sparkes of fire leape out. ¹¹ Out of his nostrels commeth out smoke, as out of a boyling pot or caldron. ¹² His breath maketh the coales burne: for a flame goeth out of his mouth. ¹³ In his necke remayneth strength, and labour is reiected before his face. ¹⁴ The members of his bodie are ioyned: they are strong in themselues, and cannot be mooued. ¹⁵ His heart is as strong as a stone, and as hard as the nether milstone. ¹⁶ The mightie are afrayd of his maiestie, and for feare they faint in themselues. ¹⁷ When the sword doeth touch him, he will not rise vp, nor for the speare, dart nor habergeon. ¹⁸ He esteemeth yron as strawe, and brasse as rotten wood. ¹⁹ The archer canot make him flee: ye stones of the sling are turned into stubble vnto him: ²⁰ The dartes are counted as strawe: and hee laugheth at the shaking of the speare. ²¹ Sharpe stones are vnder him, and he spreadeth sharpe things vpon the myre. ²² He maketh the depth to boyle like a pot, and maketh the sea like a pot of oyntment. ²³ He maketh a path to shine after him: one would thinke the depth as an hoare head. ²⁴ In the earth there is none like him: hee is made without feare. ²⁵ He beholdeth al hie things: he is a King ouer all the children of pride. ^{26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34}

⁷ How excellent is thy mercy, O God! therefore the children of men trust vnder the shadowe of thy wings. ⁸ They shall be satisfied with the fatnesse of thine house, and thou shalt giue them drinke out of the riuer of thy pleasures.

¹⁰ I haue not hidde thy righteousnesse within mine heart, but I haue declared thy trueth and thy saluation: I haue not conceiled thy mercy and thy trueth from the great Congregation.

⁴ Mine heart trembleth within mee, and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me.

¹³ For thou hast deliuered my soule from death, and also my feete from falling, that I may walke before God in the light of the liuing.

¹⁷ The charets of God are twentie thousande thousand Angels, and the Lord is among them, as in the Sanctuarie of Sinai.

¹⁹ How suddenly are they destroyed, perished and horribly consumed,

⁴⁸ What man liueth, and shall not see death? shall hee deliuer his soule from the hande of the graue? Selah.

² I will say vnto the Lord, O mine hope, and my fortresse: he is my God, in him will I trust.

⁹ BETH. Wherewith shall a yong man redresse his waie? in taking heede thereto according to thy woorde.

⁸ He wil destroy death for euer: and the Lord God wil wipe away the teares from all faces, and the rebuke of his people will he take away out of all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

¹⁷ All nations before him are as nothing, and they are counted to him, lesse then nothing, and vanitie.

Let vs stande together: who is mine aduersarie? let him come neere to me. ⁹ Beholde, the Lord God will helpe me: who is he that can condemne me? loe, they shall waxe olde as a garment: the mothe shall eate them vp.

⁵ My righteousnes is neere: my saluation goeth foorth, and mine armes shall iudge the people: the yles shall waite for me, and shall trust vnto mine arme.

⁸ For the mothe shall eate them vp like a garment, and the worme shall eate them like wool: but my righteousnesse shalbe for euer, and my saluation from generation to generation.

² But hee shall growe vp before him as a branche, and as a roote out of a dry grounde: he hath neither forme nor beautie: when we shall see him, there shall be no forme that wee should desire him. ³ He is despised and reiected of men: he is a man full of sorowes and hath experience of infirmities: we hidde as it were our faces from him: he was despised and we esteemed him not. ⁴ Surely hee hath borne our infirmities, and caried our sorowes: yet wee did iudge him, as plagued, and smitten of God, and humbled. ⁵ But hee was wounded for our transgressions, hee was broken for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was vpon him, and with his stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheepe haue gone astraye: wee haue turned euery one to his owne way, and the Lord hath layed vpon him the iniquitie of vs all. ⁷ Hee was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet did he not open his mouth: hee is brought as a sheepe to the slaughter, and as a sheepe before her shearer is dumme, so he openeth not his mouth. ⁸ Hee was taken out from prison, and from iudgement: and who shall declare his age? for he was cut out of the lande of the liuing: for the transgression of my people was he plagued. ⁹ And he made his graue with the wicked, and with the riche in his death, though hee had done no wickednesse, neither was any deceite in his mouth. ¹⁰ Yet the Lord would breake him, and make him subiect to infirmities: when hee shall make his soule an offring for sinne, he shall see his seede and shall prolong his dayes, and the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

¹⁷ And it shalbe ye princes part to giue burnt offrings, and meat offrings, and drinke offrings in the solemne feasts and in the newe moones, and in the Sabbaths, and in all the hie feasts of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sinne offring, and the meat offring, and the burnt offring, and the peace offrings to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

²⁰ And so shalt thou doe the seuenth day of the moneth, for euery one that hath erred and for him that is deceiued: so shall you reconcile the house.

¹⁴ And he gaue him dominion, and honour, and a kingdome, that all people, nations and languages should serue him: his dominion is an euerlasting dominion, which shall neuer bee taken away: and his kingdome shall neuer be destroyed.

²⁴ Seuentie weekes are determined vpon thy people and vpon thine holy citie, to finish the wickednes, and to seale vp the sinnes, and to reconcile the inquitie, and to bring in euerlasting righteousnesse, and to seale vp the vision and prophecie, and to anoynt the most Holy.

² As they haue deliuered them vnto vs, which from the beginning saw them their selues, and were ministers of ye word,

⁵⁰ This say I, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherite the kingdome of God, neither doeth corruption inherite incorruption. ⁵¹ Behold, I shewe you a secret thing, We shall not all sleepe, but we shall all be changed, ⁵² In a moment, in the twinckling of an eye at the last trumpet: for the trumpet shall blow, and the dead shalbe raysed vp incorruptible, and we shalbe changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption: and this mortall must put on immortalitie. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible hath put on incorruption, and this mortall hath put on immortalitie, then shalbe brought to passe the saying that is written, Death is swallowed vp into victorie. ⁵⁵ O death where is thy sting? O graue where is thy victorie? ⁵⁶ The sting of death is sinne: and ye strength of sinne is the Lawe. ⁵⁷ But thankes be vnto God, which hath giuen vs victorie through our Lord Iesus Christ.
